REASON: This movie began with Percy Jones, a loan officer, writing wedding vows at work at his office bank job so he and his school principal wife, Marilyn, could renew their vows at their 25thanniversary party. Percy was mad when his coworker Reggie Watts pointed out that Percy copied the lyrics from a sexy song on the radio that Percy listened to on his way in that morning. Percy and Marilyn’s (black) photographer daughter, Theresa (black), planned to announce her engagement to Simon Green (white) at her parent’s party. Theresa was convinced that Percy wouldn’t complain about this boyfriend because he had a job at J.P. Oliver. However, Simon had already quit his job and didn’t tell Theresa about it. Percy admitted to Marilyn that he used his job connections and pulled Simon’s credit report and found out all about him, and Percy was impressed. Theresa and Simon arrived from New York at her parents’ house in Cranford, New Jersey via Taxi. During the cab ride, Theresa confessed that she didn’t tell her black family that Simon was white because she didn’t think it would matter, but the black taxi driver, Wesley, assured Theresa it would matter. Upon arrival, Percy thought Wesley was Theresa’s boyfriend and Simon was the taxi driver so Percy ordered white Simon to take the bags to the house. Theresa then whined to daddy and explained that Simon was the white man. Percy was embarrassed and shocked and after his wife had him focus on “lemonade” her husband recovered and rushed everyone inside before the neighbors overheard anything else. Percy said that a man who didn’t play sports wasn’t really a man, so Simon lied that he used to work in the pits at NASCAR for Jeff Gordon and Percy seemed happy with that because he was a NASCAR fan. In the next scene, Percy walked into the bedroom when Simon and Theresa were on top of each other on the bed because he put on her lingerie and she was trying to get him to take it off. Percy was outraged and insisted that Simon stay at a hotel because he thought Simon was a cross dresser. Theresa’s little sister, Keisha, appeared and emphasized the point that Simon was a white man as though being white was the plague. Keisha later asked Theresa what it was like for her black sister to be with a white guy sexually, and Keisha added that even if she robbed a bank or burned down the house she wouldn’t be the daughter who brought home a white boy so in the eyes of their parents Keisha could do no worse then what her older sister had just done. Percy tried to listen to the radio on the way to the hotel, but all the songs were about black and white people being together. Because there were no hotel rooms available. Percy had reserved a hotel room for Simon a week ago but the hotel didn’t honor it since the Shriners people were in town the hotel was now all booked up. Percy reluctantly agreed to let Simon stay in his man cave basement. Everyone went out to dinner, where Percy insisted that Simon take his business call from Liz Klein in front of the family group. Liz informed Simon that his former boss, Nathan, his former employer started a rumor that Simon was being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission because he didn’t want Simon to leave which didn’t give Simon a fair chance at employment with another company. In order to make sure that Theresa slept alone and wasn’t visited by Simon in the night, Percy slept in the same bed as Simon and the two men slept in weird positions with Percy hugging Simon. The next day, Simon called Jerry from J.P Oliver and asked to buy IPO stocks in the company to hold him over until he found a job. Simon agreed to get $50,000 cash to buy the stocks somehow since he had no cash in savings. Simon convinced Percy to go out to lunch with him, and because Simon was sticking to his NASCAR story Percy took him to race go-karts. Simon admitted that he never drove NASCAR, and they made a deal to do one lap and Percy would loan Simon the $50,000 if Simon won. The competitors rammed each other with their go-karts, and then they ended up in the street after they crashed through a bush. The police assigned them dates to appear in court. Percy’s dad, Howard, from the nursing home came for dinner, and he asked why Theresa couldn’t find a colored man to date. Simon mentioned that his grandmother said Theresa had nappy hair, and Howard wanted to kick Grandma’s white a**. Percy encouraged Simon to tell the derogatory black jokes that he learned from his family and others. Everyone laughed at the jokes until Simon said that three things a black man couldn’t get were a black eye, a fat lip and a job. Immediately after that crude joke, the black family went silent and Howard wanted to hurt Simon. Theresa later talked to Percy in tears and asked for his approval of her being with Simon, and Percy replied that he loved Theresa and wanted to protect her but he didn’t trust Simon. Later that night, Theresa convinced Simon to sneak out of the house (through the basement window because Percy padlocked the basement door). Simon untangled himself from Percy in bed and was able to get out of the window. Theresa took him to the top of a fort where she hung out when she was younger. The two of them talked about marriage and kids. Dante, the party planner (who Marilyn insisted was metrosexual while Percy thought Dante was gay but it turned out Dane had a wife), later had Percy take off his pants so Dante could tailor them (Dante said he wouldn’t mind if Percy took off his shirt too). Reggie Watts who worked under Percy at their workplace then called Percy and confirmed that Simon no longer had a job as Percy suspected. Percy confronted Simon about his secrets in front of Theresa and called Simon a liar and a racist, and in turn Simon blurted out Percy’s secrets about copying his vows out of a book. Marilyn announced to Percy that the party was off because it would be a lie before God if she said vows with Percy. Percy flipped out because he had already ordered 60 pounds of shrimp and a $200 cake. Marilyn took off with Theresa in the car to go hideout and stay at Marilyn’s sister (Darlene’s) house that night. Marilyn wouldn’t let Theresa answer the 15 messages she got from Simon on her cell phone and taught her daughter the man needed to suffer, and Percy wouldn’t let Simon chase after the women otherwise the man would lose dignity. Much later, Percy called Darlene (he knew where his wife went running to) and asked her about Marilyn. Sister Darlene out and out lied to her brother-in-law that she had no idea where Marilyn was. Darlene then returned to the all female party in the backyard, where Marilyn, Theresa and their girl gang hung out drinking alcoholic beverages. The women hated on men and told Theresa that she needed to ignore Simon in order to train him and let him feel the pain. Darlene’s husband Marcus made an appearance and then told the women to keep it down because it was his house and he had to get up and work in the morning and after he poured another female more alcohol in her glass he took the pitcher and drank from it as he went back into the house. The females all laughed at him as soon as he left. Meanwhile, Percy and Simon drank vodka, and then Simon taught Percy the tango. In the morning, Percy was afraid to confront the angry black women and advised Simon not to walk in on a fired up group of females such as that party or he would be dead in an instant. Percy eventually psyched himself up to go to Darlene’s house. Percy stole Simon’s words that Simon said the night before about Simon’s feelings for Theresa. In front of the crowd of women Percy used Simon’s words on his wife Marilyn about her being Percy’s other half and him not being whole without her. Marilyn forgave Percy and the other women were impressed. But that left Simon with nothing to say so Simon used the degrading song lyrics that Percy was going to say for his vows that disgusted the females and they silenced Simon from Simon saying more.Theresa was upset and privately argued with Simon. That escalated to Theresa telling Simon that their engagement was off. The next day, Theresa confessed to Percy that she and Simon were going to announce their engagement at her parent’s party and then get married. Percy had a change of heart and hurried to the train station and found Simon waiting to leave (Simon missed already missed a train on purpose and wasn’t ready to leave yet). Percy explained that he realized Simon’s boss Nathan didn’t like black people and told Percy not to marry the black girl. However, Simon refused to give up his relationship with Theresa and he quit his job as a result of the pressure. Percy advised Simon not to quit (his job) and there would always be many challenges and obstacles to overcome in life. Percy said to remember always that if he loved Theresa and wanted a relationship with her, then Theresa had to always be right in their arguments. He told Simon that he could choose his own destiny and didn’t have to follow the same path of his dad (Simon’s dad walked out on Simon’s family when Simon was a kid.) At the party, Percy came up with vows on the spot. Simon appeared, and both he and Percy serenaded their women with song. Simon professed his love to Theresa and the engagement was back on. The movie ended with Percy introducing his future son-in-law who was broke, unemployed and white. This movie had a budget of $35 million and grossed over $103 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV, “Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher are flat-out hilarious!” Earl Dittman, Wireless Magazines, “Brilliantly-made date movie and buddy comedy all in one.”

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie takes place in Boston and began with hotshot Rebels quarterback Joe Kingman doing some of his famous moves on the field to get his team to the playoffs, and celebrated in the end zone by stage dancing like Elvis. At a New Years’ Eve party in Joe’s lavish apartment decked out with pictures and figures of himself and Elvis everywhere, Joe gave his Russian girlfriend Tatianna a Chanel gift (one of dozens stashed in his closet) before she left for Paris. Fellow Rebels player Travis Sanders went home to his wife and kids and told Joe that partying was no kind of life. The next day, eight-year-old Peyton Kelly came to Joe’s door insisting that she was the daughter that he never knew existed from his short marriage to Sara that ended in divorce. Peyton had a birth certificate with Joe’s name on it and a note supposedly from Sara (Peyton forged) stating that she was leaving Peyton with Joe for a month. Joe called his agent Stella Peck to fix the situation, and Peyton explained that her mom was in Sudan, Africa bringing clean water to children and Peyton couldn’t stay with Sara’s sister Karen because Karen was dead. Joe took Peyton to his football practice, and she asked him a bunch of questions but he refused to answer what was the best thing that ever happened to him. Peyton gave Joe cookies that she made for him, and when his tongue swelled up he found out that the cookies had cinnamon that he was allergic to. Peyton said she was allergic to nuts. Peyton was named after Peyton Rous a noble peace prize recipient working with viruses that cause cancer and not Peyton Manning as her Joe’s football team members hoped. Joe woke up the next morning to his male dog Spike in a tutu with pink nail polish on his claws and Peyton blasting Tchaikovsky as she practiced ballet. Joe brought Peyton to a nightclub, and she fell asleep and discovered when she woke up that Joe forgot about her and had already left. Joe went back to retrieve Peyton, and Stella later informed Joe that Fanny’s Burgers was handing out Joe’s action figure with their food but they were reconsidering using him as a spokesman because he was all over the news as a bad dad who left his daughter in a bar. Peyton said her mom said Fanny’s made kids fat and gave them gas, and Stella argued that Fanny’s made Joe fat with cash. Stella added that she was the janitor, Joe was the mop and Peyton was the mess, and then Stella fired Cindy who Joe hired on the spot as a nanny for Peyton. Joe took Peyton to the Boston ballet school, where the Hispanic instructor Monique Vasquez informed Joe that auditions were over but Monique would let Peyton practice with them that day to see how she did. All the moms were gaga over Joe and crowded around him as they waited during class. Joe’s ego got hurt when he learned that Monique didn’t know who he was. Monique made Joe promise to help out in whatever way she decided if Peyton was going to attend her ballet class and he agreed. The basketball game that Joe and his football buddies were watching on TV was later interrupted by a kids’ show that Peyton had earlier programmed to come on at that time. The guys left and Joe was mad, so he sent Peyton off to have a bath. Peyton filled the huge tub with bottles of bubble bath, and the water overflowed. Joe thought Peyton drowned, so he jumped into the tub and got covered in bubbles. Peyton and Spike took over Joe’s $10,000 bed and forced him to sleep on the couch, and Joe didn’t want Peyton invading his privacy anymore so he had a meltdown and shouted that everything was his. The Rebels won the next game, but only because Joe (#1 on the field and #1 in hearts) played it his way without help from the other players. When Monique learned that Joe was neglecting Peyton and not picking her up from practice, Monique confronted Joe about it, told him she was not a babysitter and then insisted that he practice ballet moves to be a tree for their next performance. Joe returned to football moaning, groaning and limping because football was easy compared to ballet. Joe then surprised Peyton with her own girly-girl room in his apartment. When Joe learned that Tatianna was coming home as him and Peyton watched TV, Joe jumped up and planned to take his high dollar female companion out to dinner (Tatianna gave him fifteen minutes before she arrived) and leave Peyton with the Jensens across the hall. Outside the building, Tatianna wasn’t pleased that Joe now drove a station wagon (kid friendly) and traded in his sports car and she laughed when she noticed that Joe’s coat was Bedazzled (Peyton’s doing). Peyton then appeared with the neighbor because the little girl had lied that she was allergic to the Jensens’ dog because she didn’t want Joe to go out with snooty Tatianna. Joe had to cancel his hot date and then Peyton got into a heated argument about him being self-centered and not able to adult which made Peyton storm off to her room yelling that she wanted her mom. Joe played his guitar and serenaded Peyton with Elvis’s “Lonesome Tonight,” love song and changed the lyrics for the little girl. Peyton then forgave Joe as long as he agreed to take her to a Camille (American Girl doll) event at the mall. While there, Peyton insisted that Joe try the pink nail polish, so Joe showed up to football practice with pink fingernails and the guys joked that he lost his man card. Joe, Monique, Peyton and the other ballerinas put on a performance and some of the Rebels football team came to watch and were impressed. The Rebels won another game, and Stella told Joe that he would instantly get $25 million if he told everyone on live TV that he “was going to Fanny’s Burgers” after he won the championship when asked by a reporter. Peyton and Joe invited Monique to lunch, where Peyton admitted that the young girl ran away to meet Joe instead of attending a ballet program. Peyton then had an allergic reaction to the nuts in her dessert, and once Monique convinced Joe she wasn’t faking a reaction again and identified that Peyton’s ice cream had nuts in it (Joe knew she was allergic to), Joe ran to the hospital carrying Peyton. Peyton was treated and kept at the hospital overnight. Peyton’s aunt and guardian Karen appeared at the hospital. Karen explained that she wasn’t dead like Peyton said, and when Peyton didn’t call Karen she got worried and came home from Africa to check on Peyton but instead saw all the news about Joe and Peyton. Karen informed Joe that Sara died in a car accident six months before, and Karen planned to take Peyton back home with her once Peyton was well. Joe argued that he didn’t want to miss any more of Peyton’s life. Karen told Joe that the little time he spent with the young girl already had her admitted to the hospital in an emergency situation. The football team brought get-well presents for Peyton, and Peyton told Joe that she wanted to go home with Karen. Later that night, Joe found Peyton’s suitcase in her room and inside were pictures of Peyton and Sara. There was also another note that was supposedly from Sara addressed to Joe telling him they had a daughter, but Sara kept her from Joe because Sara was worried Joe wouldn’t want anything to do with Peyton. Joe left Peyton messages that didn’t get answered, and because Joe was distracted with thoughts about Peyton he got injured in the championship. Joe decided to sit the rest of the game out with a separated shoulder and bruised ribs, and he put Danville the backup quarterback in. Peyton and Karen then appeared, and Peyton told Joe she loved him. Karen added that she decided to let Peyton stay with Joe and not battle it out in court (Karen could have her freedom and continue helping in other countries on her global missions). Peyton reminded Joe that the King “never says no,” which convinced Joe to get back in the game. Joe answered Peyton’s question that she was the best thing that ever happened to him, and Joe finally worked together with his teammates so the Rebels won their first championship. Joe said after the game on live TV that he was going to take his daughter home. Stella and Sam Blake Jr. the owner of Fanny’s Burgers, were flabbergasted. This movie had a budget of $22 million and grossed over $146 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed Roseann Rogers, NBC-TV/Houston, “A touchdown for the entire family.” Bill Zwecker, Chicago Sun-Times, “A lot of charm and heart.”

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with Annie Braddock graduating from college with degrees in business and anthropology. Annie lived at her mom’s home in New Jersey all through her college years and was raised by her single nurse mom. Annie’s mom, Judy, bought her daughter a business suit since Annie was applying for a CFO job at Goldman Sachs. On Annie’s way to Manhattan for the interview, she ran into her gal pal Lynette who was still wearing the clothes from last night’s big party and Lynette told Annie she was missing out. During the interview, HR lady asked Annie who Annie was. Annie drew a blank and ran out of the interview so the employee ripped up her resume. Annie then tried to figure out who she was by imagining herself as different women in the city, such as a Tribeca fashionista with a $350,000 income or a lesbian lawyer with a $450,000 income. In Central Park as Anne sat on a bench and thought she may end up like the homeless person on the other bench, a man approached on a Segway but his eyes were off to the side staring at a woman and not the path in front of him. The man almost hit five-year-old Grayer Addison X but Annie pulled Grayer out of the way just in time so the little boy didn’t get run over. Grayer’s wealthy Fifth Avenue mom, Mrs. X, came running up to catch up with her runaway son and misheard Annie saying her name and thought she said she was a nanny. Since Grayer’s last nanny left, Mrs. X gave Annie her card and then other Upper East Side moms, including one who lived in the Hamptons and one who had Donald Trump living in her building, gave Annie their cards because they were looking for nannies too. Annie then became Nanny and interviewed with the moms, and all they cared was that she was white, a college grad and terminally single. Mrs. X took Annie to Bergdorf’s for lunch, and Mrs. X explained that she had friends in New Jersey (where Annie was from) who owned a horse farm. Mrs. X was from Connecticut and went to Smith, and she assured Annie that not everyone from there were lesbians. Annie agreed to be Grayer’s nanny. Anne then lied to her mom about the Manhattan apartment she was moving to and cared not that her mom broke her back getting her daughter through school and college (Anne had no job). Anne paid her mom back by treating her mom as though mom had the plague. Lynette (going to be a shrink) went along with Annie’s lies and helped Annie move to the big city. Annie and Lynette blasted “Freedom,” on the way to the X apartment. Mrs. X left Annie a note that she was going shopping before her Parents’ Societymeeting with Jane Gould and Annie needed to pick Grayer up from his Christian preschool. Mrs. X interrupted Annie’s bath and informed her that her room was the tiny one next to the noisy laundry room with a scary window view and not the guest room like Annie thought. When Annie arrived at the Christian preschool, Grayer insisted that he was too big for the stroller that Mrs. X wanted him to ride in and didn’t need it to cross the street. Out of control Grayer kicked Annie and said he hated her, and then he ran off down the street calling for the police to help him. Annie caught Grayer and took him back to the apartment, where the little boy pulled Annie’s pants down and then locked her out. The next-door neighbor, who Annie decided to call Harvard Hottie instead of his first name Hayden because dating was off-limits in her job, saw Annie’s underwear when he came out of the elevator. Harvard Hayden was able to convince Grayer to let Annie into the apartment. Annie told Lynette that her life became like Will and Grace overnight because she moved to the city she moved to the city to go to college and become a psychiatrist and her male roommate Calvin cooked for her. Annie kept ignoring her mom’s calls for many days, and when Annie finally answered she was brief and wouldn’t give Judy details about anything or her living address. Annie realized that she was a type C nanny who took care of the child 24-7 while the mother didn’t parent or work. Mrs. X wanted Grayer to have an extravagant diet full of foreign health foods, but then Annie accidentally knocked the pan of fancy French dinner she was cooking for Grayer on the floor.  Annie told him it would be their little secret so they ate peanut butter and jelly out of a jar. Annie used her finger and licked it off as Grayer used a spoon. Annie suggested the nickname SpongeBob for Grayer, but Grayer settled on Grover. Mr. X came home and greeted Grayer very briefly as though his son meant the world to him but in the next minute dad then slammed the door in Grayer’s face and told Annie Nanny to keep the boy quiet because he (Mr. X) had work to do. Mr. and Mrs. X insisted that Grayer dress up as George Washington and Annie as Betsy Ross for a Fourth of July party. Both parents were talking on the phone and ignored Grayer in their chauffeured car. Grayer screamed that he forgot his security blanket, which was Mr. X’s business card. They turned the car around and Annie went back inside to the apartment to get the card. She met up with Harvard and he laughed at Annie’s attire. At the work patriotic party, Grayer had to go to the bathroom but insisted that Annie take him to the bathroom in daddy’s office. Annie and Grayer walked in on Mr. X making out with Miss Chicago as the co-worker sat in the lap of Mr. X behind the desk in his chair. Mr. X lied to his wife that he was working with the other woman in his office when she later went looking for her husband missing from the other guests at his work party. Mrs. X was upset that Mr. X wasn’t present at the party with her, and they argued about it that night. Grayer told Annie that he loved her best. Mr. X then went to Chicago to be with his mistress until the merger was finished. Mrs. X found a negligee in Mr. X’s laundry, and because she didn’t want to admit that her husband was having an affair, she insisted that Annie say it was hers even though both of them knew it wasn’t. Annie then took Grayer on a break-the-rules day to get snow cones, ride the subway (which Mrs. X didn’t like because of germs) and go to Annie’s favorite museum on the West Side instead of the one on the East Side that was on Mrs. X’s approved list. Later that night, Mrs. X insisted that Annie go with her to a seminar at the Parents’ Society to improve nanny-mom communication (and the next seminar would be “Sexy Mom, Happy Mom”). Annie protested that she was supposed to have the night off, but Mrs. X was insistent so Annie agreed to cancel her plans. The moms were called upon to give examples of bad communication with their nannies, and one said that most nannies didn’t speak English (and Mrs. X’s maid Maria spoke mostly Spanish) and another said her nanny kept singing Parker religious songs and then denying it even with the proof on the Nanny Cam after Parker’s mom repeatedly told the nanny that the family was agnostic. Annie said it would be nice to have a night off from her job, and Mrs. X told the others that all Annie had to do was ask (which was a lie because that night was supposed to be Annie’s night off). Mrs. X then insisted on putting Grayer to bed so Annie could spend the rest of the evening out. Annie hung out with Lynette at the bar, and when Annie saw Harvard she tried to rush out but Lynette got Harvard’s attention. Harvard invited Annie over to introduce her to his buddies. They made fun of Annie for being a nanny and they didn’t know she had a four-year degree. Annie told the men off and made use of the f-word and stormed out. Harvard left Annie a message that he wanted to redeem himself for his friends’ behavior by taking Annie on a date, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Mrs. X used a service to set up a play date for Grayer with Jefferson. Jefferson’s mom Tanya (possible 30’s) was married to a 75-year-old and she was an alcoholic ex-showgirl who had already been to Betty Ford. She still danced around like a Vegas hussy as she baked a cake with the young boys. Since Judy wanted to come over for dinner, Annie lied that Lynette’s apartment was her own and had Lynette (shrink in training) and Calvin pretend to be boyfriend-girlfriend and rehearse lies to tell Judy (nurse) about how they were visiting since Annie’s roommate Lisa was away. Calvin had planned to make fondue, but Annie told him to stick with meatloaf that was fancy but not too fancy so Judy wouldn’t suspect Calvin was anything but straight. Mrs. X hired French mimes for Grayer’s sixth birthday party, but her son hated them. Harvard came to the door with the roses he sent Annie that Mrs. X threw in the trash because of pollen. Harvard wouldn’t leave until Annie agreed to go on a date with him. Mrs. X told Annie that Mr. X was in a bad mood because Grayer was rejected admission to Collegiate. Mrs. X went on to say that they were hiring a consultant to research the situation because Mrs. X felt that Annie wasn’t spending enough time on educational things with Grayer (which the parents wouldn’t know because they were never with Grayer). Annie and Harvard went on their date, and once back at the apartment building they made out passionately and went into Harvard’s room. Annie helped Mrs. X get ready for her wedding anniversary, but then Mr. X called Annie and asked her to tell Mrs. X that his flight home was canceled and he was staying in Chicago for the weekend (with his mistress). Mrs. X was upset to hear that and she left to spend a few days at the Canyon Ranch spa in Lenox. Grayer fell ill with a high temperature and vomiting, and Annie didn’t know what to do so she called Lynette who told Annie to call her nurse mom. Judy came and treated Grayer for croup, and Judy told Annie that she worked her tail off so Annie could have something better in life and then Annie took a nanny job and lied to her mom about it. Judy told Annie to call when that phase of her life was over because it was awful for Judy to see her daughter treated like a peon by a rich witch when Judy sacrificed so much to help Annie have a better life. Mrs. X then returned home because she didn’t like the spa, and she didn’t care that Grayer was sick and announced that Mr. X was taking them all to Nantucket the following week. Mrs. X dismissed Judy like she would a servant and didn’t believe Grayer was that sick otherwise he would be at the hospital. Harvard tried to convince Annie to go to the Hamptons with him, but she said she had to go to Nantucket. At the Nantucket beach house, Mr. and Mrs. X gave Grayer a puppy for a gift. It was there that Mrs. X learned that her husband planned to leave the family there and take off for Chicago after a couple of days, and Mrs. X invited Mr. X’s mom to hear the fake news that Mrs. X was pregnant so Mr. X couldn’t leave. After spending the night with his wife, Mr. X came onto Annie in the kitchen and Mrs. X was upset to witness it. Mrs. X then confronted Annie about her relationship with Harvard, who had called for Annie multiple times already but Mrs. X would not allow Annie to speak to Harvard. Even though Mr. X was having an affair, Mrs. X wanted to hold onto him because the only thing that other women in her circle of “no parents society” were getting out of their divorces was a measly million and Mrs. X wanted to stay rich and not have to take care of her own child. Mrs. X fired Annie and arranged for Annie to be sent back to Manhattan, and Mr. X threw the puppy into the taxi because he couldn’t stand the yapping and didn’t want his son to have the dog after all. Grayer was upset to see Annie leave and chased after the taxi. Annie returned to the apartment and told the puppy to pee wherever he wanted to, and then Annie went in search of the Nanny Cam because she overheard Mrs. X telling another woman that she installed one. Annie found the teddy bear cam and performed Nannies Gone Wild. Mrs. X was happy to take the footage to her next Parents’ Society and show it off and get all the attention until she watched Annie telling Mrs. X off for ignoring Grayer and not being there for him. All the women went silent because they knew they were all guilty of expecting the nanny to be the parent when the moms should be their for their children instead of grouping together talking about parenting. Mrs. X left the other women abruptly and went home to Grayer. Annie told Judy that she wasn’t sure she wanted to go into business, and Judy said it was Annie’s life and she needed to find out what she wanted to be happy. While Annie figured things out, she and the puppy stayed with Lynette and Calvin. Hayden brought Annie a letter addressed to her that Hayden got from Mrs. X (Alexandra) after she caught up with him on the 12th floor. Mrs. X thanked Annie for bringing to her attention that her son was her priority, so she spent more time with the boy and left her husband who treated her and Grayer poorly. Annie and Hayden started dating, and she finished her field diary and hoped she would get into graduate school (Is she going to make her mom pay for that too?).  Annie thought that she figured out who she was through the nanny experience (yet she had no idea still what she wanted to do). The movie cover art listed, Richard Schickel, TIME, “Intelligent…entertaining.” Prairie Miller, PACIFICA RADIO NETWORK,“One of the year’s best!” Milan Paurich, CBS-TV, “the freshest, funniest, most purely enjoyable movie of the season.” Roger Friedman, Foxnews.com, “the intelligent comedy you’ve been waiting for.”

TITLE:  Marmaduke

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2010  20th Century Fox / Regency Enterprises / Davis Entertainment Company / Dune Entertainment (Dove Family Approved for All Ages)

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie began in Kansas, where the Winslow family lived with their Great Dane, Marmaduke, and their cat, Carlos. All the animals in this movie talkedwith the help of high-end animation. Marmaduke nicknamed Phil “Doctor No,” because Phil scolded Marmaduke for digging holes in the front yard in hopes of finding China. Phil worked at a pet food company and got a job offer for marketing director at Bark Organics in Orange County, California., so Phil convinced his wife Debbie to fly the family to California so they could have an even bigger house, a pool with ocean view, a company car and a doggy door that Marmaduke could fit through. Phil and Debbie’s moody teenage daughter, Barbara, was upset about the move and so was Marmaduke. Debbie insisted that Phil wear a pink tie for his interview with the Zen boss Don Twombly. Phil brought Marmaduke with him to the dog park, where Don told Phil to walk in the grass barefoot and said he wanted to meet there because he could judge someone’s personality by how they treated their dog. Don explained that he had been through six directors in the last year and he was hiring Phil because he wanted his products on the shelf of every PETCO in the country. Marmaduke fell head over paws in love with Don’s dog Jezebel, but Bosco, the Beauceron alpha dog who ran the park, threatened to kill Marmaduke if he went anywhere near Bosco’s girlfriend Jezebel. Mazie, an Australian Shepherd, introduced Marmaduke to the dog cliques in the park. They included the brainless valley girl Afghans, the drama geeks, the hippie mushroom heads, the juvenile delinquent that peed in people’s drink cups and the snobby pedigrees (Bosco’s gang). Mazie invited Marmaduke to join her group with Raisin the Dachshund and Giuseppe the Chinese Crested. Marmaduke then agreed he would try and sneak out of the house that night to go to a party at Mazie’s house. As Barbara left the mall with a group of popular valley girls toting Chihuahuas in their purses, Phil drove by with Marmaduke and called out to Barbara. The mean teen was embarrassed and didn’t want to admit he was her father in front of the fake girls. Later on, Barbara snapped at her dad at home that she wanted privacy and a one-way ticket back to Kansas as she was talking on the cell phone with her old friends. Phil signed his son Brian up for soccer, but young Brian wasn’t enthusiastic about it. Marmaduke went to Mazie’s party, where he ended up breaking the dance machine. He then decided that he wanted to check out Bosco’s pedigree party under the yacht club pier, and then Marmaduke ran into Jezebel. Bosco told Marmaduke he couldn’t do anything because he wasn’t a pedigree like the rest of them, and Jezebel got between the two big dogs before a fight could break out. Mazie told Marmaduke that she was a rescue that nobody wanted, so she knew what it was like to be an outcast and she could make Marmaduke into the dog he wanted to be. Mazie suggested Marmaduke try toothpaste for minty breath, have better posture and romance if he wanted to get together with Jezebel. Marmaduke convinced Carlos the cat to put on a fake act that he was lost in the dog park, and Marmaduke pretended to be tough and fight the cat to impress the pedigrees. Marmaduke took it too far when he grabbed Carlos by the tail and pulled off all the fur, but Marmaduke was happy that Jezebel noticed him and she wanted to hang out. Phil told Don his idea to have Bark Organics host a surf competition for dogs as promotion, and Don agreed and reminded Phil that they had only one shot with PETCO. The PETCO reps at the surf competition convinced Phil to enter Marmaduke, and Marmaduke won the trophy after an accident where he knocked Bosco off his surfboard. Bosco went after Marmaduke and tried to attack him, and Marmaduke wrecked the displays when he tried to escape. Everyone blamed Marmaduke for the incident, and Don told Phil to get his dog under control. Jezebel called Marmaduke the top dog and said that Bosco was a nobody, so Marmaduke started hanging out with the pedigrees and Jezebel all the time. Mazie was upset to see that Marmaduke took Jezebel on a date to the junkyard where Mazie had said she wanted to go on her dream date. Jezebel thought it was romantic and Marmaduke told her she was the only girl he would ever want to share that place with. Raisin and Giuseppe made Marmaduke feel guilty for becoming a sellout and ditching them to be popular because Mazie liked Marmaduke, and he replied that he didn’t hang out with mutts anymore. Don informed Phil that he got them another chance with PETCO and Phil needed to start work on the campaign. Because Phil promised his wife he would spend quality time with the family that weekend, Don told Phil to bring his family aboard Don’s boat to hang out while Phil worked. Don added that it was his wife’s rule that no dogs were allowed and Don thought it was because his wife was jealous. The family left Marmaduke home alone for the weekend running loose inside their house. Barbara was upset that she had to miss a teen party that Bodie, the boy she had a crush on, invited her to. Marmaduke invited all the pedigrees to an outrageous, loud party with Krazy String at the empty house. The dogs wrecked the house by breaking things, peeing on the couch and butt-scooting on the rug. Bosco appeared and recognized Carlos from the dog park, and Bosco announced that Marma-fake’s tough guy act was just an act because Carlos lived with Marmaduke so it was a staged performance. The pedigrees agreed that Marmaduke was a poser and they all left, including Jezebel. Marmaduke’s family came home to a trashed house, and when angry Phil tried to grab Marmaduke, and then ran after the dog that resulted in Phil losing his laptop with the PETCO pitch on it into the pool. Phil left Marmaduke outside in the rain for the night and suggested giving Marmaduke away, and Debbie told Phil to sleep on the couch. Marmaduke ran away and went to Mazie’s house and left the Pig Cow outside that she gave him to boost his confidence. Mazie brought the toy back to the house and told Carlos she didn’t want the peace offering, and he told her that Marmaduke left. Mazie, Raisin and Giuseppe went to go find Marmaduke. Marmaduke got lost in the woods near the train tracks and was approached by the Chupadogra, who was rumored to have once been the alpha dog until he got rabies and ate his owner and now he ate other victims. The Chupadogra turned out to be a sick elderly English Mastiff whose name was Buster, and he said was the alpha dog and ran the pack until they turned on him. He told Marmaduke to go home because Buster would give anything to have a family that loved him. When the dogcatcher appeared, Buster chased him away so Marmaduke could escape. When Phil woke up the next morning, he found Barbara’s phone and Brian’s unopened soccer jersey that Marmaduke left for him. Barbara sent someone a text about how her dad ruined her chance to go to the party and she wished he would listen to her. Barbara told Phil that was honestly how she felt, and Brian admitted that he hung out at the skate park instead of going to soccer practice like he told Phil because Brian didn’t like soccer but didn’t want to disappoint his dad. The family then realized that Marmaduke was missing, and Phil decided to skip his work presentation to go look for the dog. Don called Phil and told him that he was fired. They ran into traffic because a water main broke and the first responders were working on fixing it. Marmaduke spotted Mazie and ran to greet her, but the ground cracked apart and Mazie fell into the water main. Marmaduke jumped in after Mazie, and a fireman went down to rescue the dogs but only got Mazie before the water swept Marmaduke away because the big dog was too afraid to jump into the fireman’s arms. Phil ran to the aqueduct and was able to rescue Marmaduke out of the raging current, and then a fireman pulled them out. Bodie appeared to make sure everyone was okay because Barbara texted him. Phil told his family that maybe they should move back to Kansas, but they said they were happy in California. Marmaduke went to the dog park to thank Bosco for helping him realize that they were all just dogs no matter what their status, and Marmaduke claimed the pedigree rocks for all the mutts and outcasts. Bosco tried to get Jezebel to leave with him, but she and the mini Pinscher twins Thunder and Lightning agreed with Marmaduke. Marmaduke made amends with Mazie. Don decided that he wanted to rehire Phil because a man who sacrificed his job for his dog and family was the kind of person Don wanted working for him and more than likely because Bark Organics got the deal with PETCO because Brian’s skate park buddies videoed Phil saving Marmaduke and put it on YouTube and it had almost a million hits. This movie had a budget of $50 million and grossed over $83 million at the box office.

TITLE:  LEGO Friends: Girlz 4 Life

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2016  Warner Bros. Pictures / M2 Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began with a group of five female friends, and Girlz band members, Andrea, Olivia, Mia, Stephanie and Emma. Inside a classroom on the last day of high school in Heartlake City, Olivia tested her new recording gadget using her laptop called the FlowerCam. Mean girl Tanya told on Stephanie for running in the hall (when everyone was running) so Stephanie got detention and was really upset about it. When the girls learned that the world-famous pop star Liviwas scheduled to come to Heartlake and perform a concert at the arena, they practiced their newest song, “Girlz,” in hopes of being heard by Livi. The Girlz gang wanted celebrity Livi to help them launch their own musical careers. Andrea wrote lyrics to a new song about girl power, sticking together, and refusing to be controlled and not letting boys tell them no. Tanya announced that her band The Teardrops, comprised of Tanya, Zoey and Ella, was the best and bragged that Livi was actually recording in Megan’s (Tanya’s sister) studio. Mia went to the studio to give the memory stick with the new song to Livi. However, Megan took it and wouldn’t let Mia deliver it to Livi. Megan then played the Girlz song for Livi. After Livi heard it and loved the song, Megan lied that the new song was ready for Livi to perform and didn’t tell Livi that the song belonged to Mia and her band. Megan lied because Livi’s songwriters couldn’t come up with a new song that Livi approved of by the deadline Livi had given them. Megan further lied that she wrote the song. Megan then promised Tanya fame and fortune and the opportunity to record an original song if she did Megan a favor. Tanya convinced Emma to record her funky off-key sitar song, and then Tanya recorded Emma’s song over Girlz (that Olivia saved to the cloud) on Olivia’s computer that erased the original Girlz song and made it appear the song never existed. Because the girls were doing a story on Livi for Star Moment magazine, they got invited to Livi’s press conference. Livi performed Girlz, and Andrea’s band tried to tell everyone that Livi stole their song but they were escorted outside by security. Emma admitted that Tanya tricked her, and the girls realized that Tanya and Megan were up to no good so the teen group planned a heist to liberate what was theirs and get the song back. Since Mia was the official dogwalker at Heartlake Hotel where Livi was staying, the girls sent Mia to get intel about hotel plans and staff schedules so they could break into Livi’s penthouse. As Mia dropped off the three dogs for her dog walking job back at the hotel, she ran into Livi, who went outside to escape her agents reminding the female celebrity about her upcoming celebrity activities and meeting with China. The two girls hit it off after Livi recognized Mia as the one who calmed Livi’s dog, Cookie, down during the press conference by giving him a treat. Livi confessed that she wished she were a normal person and not a popstar so she could go out in public without being trailed by security or mobbed by crowds of fans. Mia had an idea and wore one of the new Livi hoodies to make Megan and the security think she was Livi leaving the hotel. Mia passed out hoodies to all the fans, and by the time Megan realized that Mia wasn’t Livi, everyone in the crowd was wearing their hoodies and Megan couldn’t find Livi. Mia then sent the hotel information to the other girls, and then she and pop star Livi went out to get ice cream. Livi had trouble deciding for herself so Mia ordered the new girl 8 scoops of ice cream called an Octuple-Decker. Mia told Livi that she and her teen gal pals hung out all the time and helped each other out when they got in a jam, and they talked about the dumb things that boys did and were the best of friends (there was zero family life at all in this movie and the female teens had no respect for law and order).Mia didn’t get the chance to tell Livi about the song before they were bombarded by fans and ran back to the studio. Mia hid outside when Megan came outside to collect Livi. Livi’s male trainer was there with Megan and told Livi after he found out she gobbled down ice cream that she couldn’t rest and had to immediately go work off all the calories she just ate (extremely unhealthy mental and physical behavior for all involved, especially the real children of God watching and copying these fake characters). Megan found Mia hiding outside and then fired her on the spot because Megan didn’t want Livi and Mia associating anymore or Mia walking Cookie, Livi’s pup. Mia told her so-called “good friends,” that Livi was okay and might not have stolen their song, but Mia didn’t tell the “good friends” that she thought that because Mia secretly had just hung out with Livi alone. The Girlz pop gang then put their teen plan into action. Emma spilled juice on the Livi’s limo driver’s suit to make him leave for a minute while Olivia used her phone to connect Andrea’s headset to the GPS. Livi left in the limo, and Andrea spoke through the GPS and sent the limo around in circles as a distraction. The teen Girlz band members went into the hotel undercover as maids, and they turned the penthouse upside down in search of the memory stick while Andrea tried on Livi’s dresses. The delinquent Girlz ran when Livi came back, and then Megan showed Livi the camera footage that showed the disguised Girlz trashing the room. Livi couldn’t believe that teen Mia was just using her like everyone else did in her celebrity life. Mia admitted to her gang that she had made friends with Livi. Andrea accused Mia of wanting all the fame for herself (when actually Andrea was the one who wanted all the fame and it was Andrea who was obsessed with the idea that the Girlz song was just her song). Mia went to the hotel to talk to Livi. Megan and Tanya then confronted Mia and broke the memory stick right in front of Mia. Mia then discovered that the FlowerCam had footage of the band performing Girlz, so the teen Girlz plotted to play the footage on the big screen at Livi’s concert even though Mia was worried it would ruin Livi’s reputation. Tanya got Megan to admit that she didn’t write the Girlz song. Tanya gave her sister, Megan, the recording of The Teardrops’ newest song because Tanya did her sister the favor and that was the award Megan promised. Andrea got access to the arena by pretending to be a chef with a special food delivery for Livi, and then the teen girls dressed up like ninjas and tried to connect the FlowerCam to the big screen. However, Megan and private security captured them first and locked the teens in the supply closet. Megan deleted the recording footage from the camera. Andrea and Mia made amends, and then the Girlz used a frying pan and other items to break through the wall to a room filled with instruments. They blasted “Girlz,” and the music caused the wall between them and Livi’s dress room to crumble. Livi realized that the Girlz song belonged to the teens and realized that Megan was a liar. Livi fired Megan. In the end, celebrity Livi escorted the teen Girlz band members on stage to perform the Girlz song with her and the rowdy crowd enjoyed the performance.

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2013  20th Century Fox / Lotte Entertainment / Digiart Productions /

The Animation Picture Company / Stonebridge Capital / MVP Blue Sky Media / Zon Audiovisuais

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie (filled with screaming, groaning, grunting, gasping, panting, whimpering and sighing characters) takes place in the Australian outback. Other koalas bullied a koala named Johnny because he was white. Hamish the Tasmanian devil and his monkey assistant, Higgens, wanted back into the carnival that Lug the crocodile boss kicked them out of, so they convinced Johnny to join the circus as Johnny the Amazing Albino Koala. Lug agreed but confined Johnny to the freak show with other misfits. Johnny was skeptical about it, but the humans loved him and almost instantly afterward Johnny was the celebrity face for stuffed animals, t-shirts and coffee mugs (viral like China’s sneezing baby panda). The people left Johnny’s enclosure just as quickly as they arrived though because they found a new obsession at the Wild Bushman’s show in the big top, so the animals went to watch too. Johnny fell off the platform above the arena, and when dopey Higgens tried to rescue him both of them fell on their private parts and it was the Wild Bushman who saved Johnny. The humans cheered, but Lug was mad and kicked Johnny out of the show. Johnny, Hamish and Higgens hitched a ride in the carnival caravan, where Hamish told Johnny that he could be himself and get a show as an action adventurer like the Wild Bushman, that Johnny found a hero in, because the Bushman was once an outcast like Johnnybut now battled bulls and crocodiles with ease. The car then became detached from the rest of the caravan on a cliff edge, and because Johnny was too afraid to push the safety lever the car fell into a deep ravine many feet below. The trio suffered no injures and set off into the outback on foot in hopes of reaching Precipice Lake, where the traveling carnival would set up its next venue. The thirst and hunger-crazed animals fought over food until they found a billabong, where the animal residents tried to save a small rodent from a pack of dingoes. Mac the kangaroo and Blacktooth the lead dingo punched and kicked each other until female warrior koala Miranda took Blacktooth out with her boomerang weapon that she named Basher. The dingoes worked for Bog the evil crocodile. Bog attempted to chase the animals out of the billabong so he could have control of the watering hole. Johnny tumbled off the cliff riding on a huge rock, and as a result of the accident he chased the dingoes away and became a hero. Hamish planned to sell Johnny as the action hero Koala Kid so Johnny could get a show. Bog threatened Blacktooth’s well being if he failed to capture Johnny and bring him to Bog. To create the illusion that Johnny was a hero, Higgens snapped pictures of Johnny pretending to save the animals of the billabong from dangerous scenarios when clearly the photos were made to deceive everyone and nobody knew the reality of the staged drama behind the scenes because the con artists kept the real facts buried and hidden and only revealed what they wanted you to believe. Johnny got off on the wrong foot with Miranda because Miranda knew Johnny was no hero but a faker. Miranda used her boomerang to save lives of those in the Outback. Miranda then saved Johnny and her younger sister Charlotte (aka Princess, Honey Bear and Blue Eyes) from the dingoes, but then gray Charlotte spilled her photo shoot makeup on herself and colored her fur white so the dingoes mistook her for white Johnny and captured her. The other animals decided that Quint the One-Legged Wombat would lead them through the dangerous and dreaded Bungle Bungles on a rescue mission since Quint was the only animal to ever make it out of there alive. Johnny decided that he would go along to save Charlotte and prove a point to Miranda, and Hamish wasn’t pleased about that until he found out that the animals were headed to Precipice Lake where Bog lived and Hamish could join back up with the carnival. After they escaped from a bird of prey that tried to attack them, they reached a rickety old wooden bridge leading across a ravine. Johnny went first across, and the bridge broke apart and he managed to grab onto the roots of a tree and keep from falling. The tree toppled over and made a sturdy bridge for the others to cross. Boris the vulture, Bog’s lead minion, stopped the dingoes and told them they had the wrong koala and needed to ambush the rescue party at Crossroads Pass. Johnny distracted a pair of hungry snakes away from Miranda, and then he defeated them by having them fight over who would eat him. Miranda thanked Johnny for saving her, and then the two of them fell into a hole and set off through an underground tunnel planning to meet up with the others at the Crossroads. The duo encountered a ferocious lizard that attacked them, but the lizard became loyal like a dog when Johnny removed a painful splinter from his paw and named him Bull. As Bull carried the koalas on his back out of the tunnels, Miranda taught Johnny how to use a boomerang. The dingoes then surrounded them, and Miranda lost her faith in Johnny when Boris showed her the poster he found proving that Johnny was just a carnival act. Johnny was embarrassed and ran off, and Miranda took Charlotte’s place as the captive and she was tied up and brought to Bog. Johnny told Hamish and Higgens that he wasn’t going back to the carnival because he didn’t want to be a freak anymore. Bog planned to keep Miranda as his slave and use her to prove to the other animals that he was in charge so he could take over the billabong. The billabong animals tried to rescue Miranda, but Bog kept them at bay. Charlotte ran to get help from Johnny, and he didn’t think he could be a hero but he changed his mind when he saw Miranda in the Min Min Lights that appeared in the sky. Johnny whistled to Bull, and Johnny freed Miranda and told her that he was just Johnny and there would be no more lies or running away. Hamish (male), a clown, and Higgens (male), wearing a hula skirt and coconut bikini top acting like a flirty female, distracted the dingoes by asking for directions to the carnival. The dingoes weren’t buying it, so the animals worked together to build traps and capture the dingoes. Bog went after Johnny, so the koalas and Bull led Bog to the big top to be defeated by the Bushman. However, Bog took the Bushman out with one strike of his tail so Johnny and Bog battled on the tightropes. Miranda got caught up in it and fell, but the Bushman caught her. Johnny then used Miranda’s boomerang to bring the big top crashing down on top of them, and Johnny survived but Bog didn’t. Lug then decided that Johnny was worthy of performing in the center of the ring, so Johnny got a big top act with Miranda who used her boomerang to perform tricks. Johnny and Miranda decided they would rather live in the billabong, so they kissed and rode off into the sunset on Bull’s back.

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2009  PureFlix Entertainment / West Wind Films

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with police detective David Ramsey and his partner Larry following a lead in hopes of finding pop star Lindsey, who was abducted. Lindsey made more money from her one “Sugar Baby,” hit song (produced by her boyfriend Kevin and his music company) than the police detectives would make during their entire police career. David complained about Larry mentioning God and prayer, and they joked around being noisy while they carelessly searched the abandoned trailer park. The kidnapper, Max West, jumped on David and took his police gun, and then Max held his gun to gagged Lindsey’s head and threatened to kill her if Larry didn’t drop his gun. Max shot at David’s heart but the cell phone in his jacket took the bullet, and then David shot Max dead (another gun) and rescued Lindsey. Police Captain Jones was glad that the detectives and Lindsey survived the shootout but he wasn’t pleased that the suspect was dead. Kevin appeared and announced that he was taking Lindsey to Mexico for a vacation on their yacht, the Amelia Rose. Kevin said he would do whatever he could for the detectives to thank them for saving Lindsey. Jones had whispered to the detectives when Kevin arrived that he had been trying to nail Kevin for years, so the detectives convinced Kevin to let them bring their wives on the vacation (so they could secretly investigate Kevin). Onboard the Amelia Rose, Lindsey thanked David again and told the officer that he was a hero and didn’t risk his life for nothing. Jones sent David a picture he found on Max’s computer that showed Max and Kevin together at a party. When David asked Kevin about the picture, Kevin said that Max was just hanging around and Kevin didn’t really know him. David’s wife Lori was upset that David was still distracted by his job because she had been hoping this vacation would be different and they would spend quality time together. Larry later told David that he needed to establish a relationship with God in order to fix his marriage and have peace, but David wasn’t buying it. Larry’s wife Suzette comforted Lori by telling her to pray for her husband and follow Jesus, so Suzette and Lori prayed and Lori decided to accept Jesus into her life. The next morning, Larry and Suzette went with their guide Ethan to Bird Island to take pictures, and Lori declined their invitation to come along because she wanted to take David jet-skiing to a secluded island. They had a picnic, and then David took a nap while Lori went to find seashells. When David woke up, there was a bright flash of light and a small earthquake and Lori was missing. David couldn’t find Lori anywhere on the island. Lori’s jet ski was still on the shore, but her bathing suit was in the water and there was a trail of footsteps that mysteriously ended before reaching the water. David rode his jet ski back to the Amelia Rose, where Ethan explained that he wasn’t watching Larry and Suzette and they disappeared. Kevin and Captain Gary Brown tried to convince David that Lori, Larry and Suzette ran off together without David because he upset Lori. David searched the boat for signs of Lori even though Kevin told him not to, and Lindsey told David that she thought the others were crazy.David took his jet ski out to Bird Island, where he had flashbacks and realized that some of Lori’s behavior was strange. He fell asleep again and woke up back in bed at the start of the day as if nothing happened. He told Lori about his dream and she asked David to forgive her for being short with him so they could start over. David told Ethan to stay close to Larry and Suzette to make sure nothing happened to them when they went to Bird Island. David and Lori went back out to the island as before, and David was suspicious about everything. Lori explained that she took David there because she wanted to spend some romantic alone time with him and talk about life and God. David got a call from Jones, who learned from Interpol that Kevin didn’t have a criminal record anywhere but he might be using his music business to launder money. David pieced it together that Kevin hired Gary, who had a kidnapping record in Italy, to prevent anything else from happening to Lindsey and they went to Mexico so Gary wouldn’t get caught by Interpol. Lori was upset by the interruption and took off on her jet ski, and David chased after her. She suddenly disappeared into thin air and all that was left was her jet ski and clothes. David returned to the boat, where he confronted Kevin and Gary about what he learned and they confirmed it. Lindsey was upset to hear that Kevin knew Max and had something to do with her kidnapping. Kevin didn’t like the accusations so he attacked David, who pulled out his gun and used it to keep everyone back. David told Lindsey not to trust anyone but herself, and when David tried to use the radio to get ahold of the Mexican police and navy, the only signal he got was people screaming about the end of the world and their friends disappearing. Kevin then knocked David unconscious and Gary threw David’s body in the ocean, and David woke up in bed again. He told Lori everything that happened, and she thought it might be the stress and the pain pills he was taking for his bruised ribs. David wrote down everything that he knew would happen that day, and Lori was shocked when it all came true. David convinced Larry and Suzette to come with him and Lori to another island to hang out instead of going to Bird Island. David told them his suspicions about Kevin, and then he told Larry about his dreams. Larry suggested that God was sending David the dreams for a reason and maybe it had something to do with the Rapture, the return of Jesus to collect His children, since many Biblical prophecies leading up to the Rapture had already come true. David rushed everyone back to the boat, and Lori locked herself in a room because she was mad that David was fantasizing about her disappearing and he was scaring her. David sent Suzette in to talk to Lori while everyone else tried to figure out what was going on. Larry, Suzette and Lori then disappeared right in front of the others, and all that was left was their clothes. David hysterically shouted about being trapped in the same day and reliving it over and over again because he couldn’t change anything that happened. Gary pointed his shotgun at David and planned to kill him, but David grabbed the gun away from Gary and in the process accidentally shot Lindsey in the stomach. Before she died, she said that she finally realized that God loved her and she knew His plan for her was to bring her home. David got Kevin to admit that he hired Max to kidnap Lindsey because she was worth more dead than alive. David flipped through Larry’s Bible and realized something, but then Gary shot David dead. David woke up in bed once again and asked Lori to get him a Bible, and then David told Larry about his dream again. David took Lori jet skiing back to the island, where he told her that the dream opened his eyes to realize that he needed to change so he could be a better person and that way he would never lose Lori. However, Lori then disappeared on schedule and David was upset and screamed at God asking what he should do. David woke up the next morning, and David discovered that his bruising, which had almost disappeared, was back again. Both he and Lori were wearing different clothes, and David told Lori that the best moments in his life were with her and he loved her. David asked to borrow Larry’s Bible, and then the two of them prayed because David decided he wanted Jesus in his life so he could be saved. David gave the Bible to Lindsey and told her to read John 3:16. Lori was happy to hear that David gave his life to God, and they went to the beach to profess their love to one another. David took one more phone call from Jones about an email that David sent him, and David reminded Captain Jones that God loved him.David and Lori kissed and disappeared. The movie ended with Captain Jones looking outside the police station to see car crashed and explosions nearby the police building that were connected to the Rapture. The movie cover art listed, Tom Saab, CFFA, “A life changing end times experience.” Christian Movies Direct, “Best apocalyptic film of the year…”

REASON: This movie began with Crawford painting a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England. He admitted that he didn’t vote for Tony Blair for Prime Minister, and Crawford didn’t feel sorry that Elizabeth couldn’t vote but he told her it was her government regardless. In London on May 2, 1997, Tony won the election by a landslide. Elizabeth reminded her advisor, Robin Janvrin, that Tony wouldn’t become the youngest Prime Minister of their century until Elizabeth asked him to be (even though the England people elected Tony). She made sure her protocol was sent to Tony so he knew how to address her, and upon entering the palace he was given strict orders of how to bow down and say ma’am as in ham while in Her Majesty’s presence. Tony’s wife Cherie stayed outside the door as Elizabeth made Tony bow down and look up to her while they discussed business. Tony agreed to the custom of Prime Minister, kissed Elizabeth’s hand and stood up. Elizabeth rang her bell to summon Cherie, and then Elizabeth abruptly dismissed the two because she had breaking news to attend to. Because it was against the rules to turn your back on the Queen, Tony and Cherie walked backwards out of the room and then Cherie swore the f-word for the interruption as her and Tony were out of earshot. The borderline criminal news people invaded Princess Diana’s privacy and exploited her badly in the news, and they attacked her for her relationship with Dodi Fayed and her carefree, Hollywood celebrity behavior that caused embarrassment to the Crown. As Diana and Dodi were leaving a Paris jewelry shop on August 30, 1997, a gang of paparazzi on motorcycles chased after the limo and took pictures. Henri Paul, the chauffeur, drove recklessly to escape the paparazzi and the limo wrecked. Early in the morning, Robin received a call about the accident in which Dodi had already died from his injuries. Robin awoke Elizabeth and Prince Philip out of their bed to tell them and then also told Tony. Elizabeth’s mother, the Queen Mother, told Prince Charles, Diana’s ex-husband, to use the Queen’s Flight to get to Paris instead of chartering a private jet, which was too extravagant. Elizabeth argued that Diana wasn’t a member of the royal family or an HRH, so it was a private matter and Diana shouldn’t be treated as royalty. The ambassador of Paris called Robin to inform him that Diana died and he went to tell the royal family. The BBC news channel reported that the Princess of Wales’s died from a car crash according to the French Government. Tony’s speechwriter, Alastair Campbell, wrote a speech for Tony to deliver to the people in the morning about the massive loss to England. Charles comforted his sons William and Harry about their mom’s death and then sent them back to sleep. Charles told Elizabeth that his private secretary found a flight to Paris using a New York travel agency, but he asked again to use the royal travel to bring back the mom of the future king and Elizabeth finally agreed. Elizabeth removed the TV and radio from the boys’ room so they wouldn’t have to be upset over the news. Philip informed Elizabeth that her sister Margaret wasn’t thrilled about cutting short her vacation to Tuscany to attend Diana’s funeral. Philip offered his wife some pills to help her through, but she said she would rather write in her diary so Philip went back to bed. Tony planned to give his speech at the church, and he watched Diana’s brother on TV give a speech about how everyone in the news and the publishers had blood on their hands for Diana’s death. Alastair didn’t think the reporters were responsible and joked to Tony that the Queen greased the brakes on Diana’s car. Tony interrupted Elizabeth’s breakfast with a call, and the Queen Mother told Elizabeth she was lucky to take his call in a sarcastic way. Elizabeth excused herself to a private room and Tony offered his condolences over the phone. Elizabeth explained that she had no desire to give a speech because it was a private matter and none of the royal family would talk about it publicly outside their family. Tony was surprised by the privacy because it didn’t give the British people a chance to grieve, and Elizabeth reminded Tony that Diana was no longer part of the royal family. Elizabeth added that they wouldn’t dwell on the Princess’s achievements because she already had way too much exposure to the press with her outlandish escapades, and the Spencers wanted a private family funeral to take place in about a month because funerals were not circus attractions. The Queen left the room with her kilt-wearing husband to go look after their grandchildren. On their way to the church service, Elizabeth told the Queen Mother and Philip that she didn’t want the regular sermon changed to mention Diana’s death. Elizabeth made plans for Philip to occupy the boys afterward by taking them for a long walk without shooting off guns since it was Sunday. To help the people of Britain and around the world overcome Diana’s death, Tony told them that she was dearly loved by many and would always remain in their hearts and memories forever as the People’s Princess. Charles went to Paris to retrieve the body, and then he made plans while at the airport with Tony to possibly not keep the funeral private because there were people lined up in Paris paying their respects to Diana as they drove by with her casket. Elizabeth watched Diana’s body being brought off the royal aircraft at the airport, and then the news broke into President Bill Clinton paying his respects to Diana from the USA. Clinton didn’t mention Dodi, only the work Diana did for children and people with AIDS and the ending of the landmines in the world. Nelson Mandela also spoke on the TV, but Mandela was drowned out because the British royal family talked about the stag that Philip saw when he was out with the boys. Elizabeth went to bed after seeing Diana’s perfect fairy tale wedding footage and the news about Charles and Diana’s recent divorce (the year before). The British citizens left flowers outside Buckingham Palace (the royal family were currently on vacation at Balmoral Castle) and mourned for Diana. There was a meeting held and it was decided that it would be a public funeral at the Abbey. Alastair told Tony that he owed Alastair for getting Tony so much publicity by coming up with the People’s Princess title for the deceased Diana. The Queen Mother approved of the boys going out with guns and joked about them possibly killing a photographer. Elizabeth read in the newspaper that Dodi was buried with no fuss and she thought that was dignified, and the Queen Mother said that Dodi was buried so soon after his death because it was Islamic tradition that had something to do with the heat. The Queen Mother was upset when Robin informed her and Elizabeth that the funeral would take place on Tay Bridge, which was planned and organized by the Queen Mother for her own funeral. The difference between the funerals would be Diana’s guests would include charity workers, actors, fashion designers and other celebrities instead of the Queen Mother’s soldiers and government representatives. Robin added that the Police Commissioner wanted a condolence book for the crowds and Elizabeth approved, and the Changing of the Guard would take place at another gate because there were too many flowers blocking the usual gate. Charles made a call to Tony telling him they both seemed to be modern men, and Tony thought the call was weird and discussed it with his advisors. It turned out Charles was afraid of getting shot if he got it wrong in Diana’s funeral, and he didn’t want the royals to be public enemy number one so he set his mother up to take the bullet. Elizabeth and Charles went out in a Rover, where Charles told her that Diana was a wonderful mother and the people loved her, so he couldn’t understand why the general public didn’t like the royal family. Charles told his mom that he thought he was being shot at the airport because he heard loud noises, so Elizabeth said she didn’t feel like stalking and got out to walk home alone with the dogs. Later on, Elizabeth and Philip watched the news interview of Diana telling a reporter she didn’t think she would ever be queen because the royals thought her some kind of threat, and she would rather be queen in people’s hearts anyway. Philip stormed off because Charles suddenly changed his tune and now thought Diana was suddenly a good mom after his ex-wife suddenly died. Philip came back and said Charles never gave his lover up even after the wedding to Diana (a wedding both Elizabeth and Philip approved of), and they couldn’t believe their son kept the other woman around and believed they were partly to blame for that. Another past news interview played on TV where Diana admitted there were three of them in the marriage and it was a bit crowded, and the news added that Diana was obsessed with the idea that Charles was still in love with Camilla. Meanwhile, the British people were upset that the royals had disgusting behavior when it came to Diana’s death and wouldn’t even put the flag (the Royal Standard, not the Union Jack) at half-mast even though she was the mother of the royal children. The royal family had a picnic in the woods and discussed how the flagpole should be bare because that was their custom when the Queen was away (and even the grandfather didn’t get half-mast when he died). Philip reassured them that it would all calm down in 48 hours. The Prime Minister’s wife, Cherie believed that the royals were nuts, and Tony said a republic was daft and nobody would ever want it for England. Tony and Elizabeth spoke on the phone, where he wanted her to fly the flag at half-mast and the Queen to leave Balmoral Castle to go to London and address the people. Elizabeth declined and informed Tony that they did things quietly and privately with dignity in that country and that was why they were admired around the world. Tony replied that the government would support Elizabeth’s decision (because she ran the government). Robin was listening in on the phone conversation and then called Tony to tell him that the Queen felt she was raised that way and it was God’s will how she behaved. The Prime Minister told Robin to leave God out of it because it wasn’t helpful, and Tony said he would work with the press but the people really wanted to see the Queen and not him. Elizabeth went out for a drive in the countryside and her car broke down while she was crossing the river so she called for help. Elizabeth broke down in tears while she waited and the stag approached her and comforted her. Philip told Elizabeth that the funeral guest list was a mockery because it was filled with soap stars and homosexuals and it would be the first time Elton John sang at the Abbey. Tony called Elizabeth and told her that 70% of the British people believed the Queen damaged the reputation of the royal family by her behavior, and one in four people were in favor of getting rid of the monarchy. Tony advised Elizabeth to fly the flag at half-mast, pay her respects in person at Diana’s coffin and make a TV statement to England and the world. Elizabeth agreed reluctantly, but she considered giving up her throne to the next generation. The Queen Mother reminded Elizabeth that she made a commitment to God and her people to serve her country for as long as she lived, and added that Elizabeth was a good queen. Elizabeth’s mother told her to reassert her authority and do as Tony said even though none of her predecessors would have gone to London to address the mourners. Elizabeth was upset to hear from Philip that the stag got shot, so she went to see the beheaded body of the 14-pointer at another estate. One news headline announced that the palace bent their knee to the Prime Minister implying that that Tony had more power than the royals. In London, Elizabeth didn’t like the cards people left outside Buckingham about how Diana’s blood was on their hands and they didn’t deserve her. Elizabeth was pleased to receive respect from the people and flowers from a young girl, and then the Queen delivered her live TV tribute to Princess Diana. Cherie didn’t think Elizabeth meant a word of it and she was just putting on a show for the people, but Tony believed it was an extraordinary act on the Queen’s part. Diana’s brother delivered another commemorating speech at Diana’s funeral that was attended by many. Two months later, Tony met with Queen Elizabeth II and congratulated her on how she handled government issues in Nigeria, India and Pakistan. Tony reassured Elizabeth that the people loved and respected her now more than ever. Elizabeth wanted to continue the conversation by walking outside (before the clock change (daylight savings time) made it took dark) because it was healthy and fresh air sorted everything out. Elizabeth explained that she was brought up duty first and self second and she thought the people would want her to keep her feelings to herself. The movie ended with Elizabeth and Tony walking to the garden and discussing the upcoming Parliament meeting about educational reform and radically reducing the size of classrooms with a lower teacher-pupil ratio. This movie had a budget of $15 million and grossed over $123 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, David Edelstein, New York Magazine “The performance of the year in the year’s best movie.” Claudia Puig, USA Today, “A brilliantly crafted drama.” Pete Hammond, Maxim, “A wickedly funny, fascinating and ultimately moving story of our times.” Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper, “The acting is just pinpoint perfect.” The film also received an award at the Venice Film Festival and it was a Golden Globe Award Winner.

REASON: This movie takes place in Long Island, New York, where eight-year-old Bruno Battaglia attended the strict St. Anthony Catholic Grammar School. Bruno was bullied and teased by kids, and he was scolded by the closet-smoker Mother Superior for being sissy and not like the other boys. Bruno distracted the Consolata at the Catholic school by pretending to be sick so his mom, Angela, could sneak into Mother Superior’s office (again). Angela threatened the official if she didn’t fix the bullying, but Mother Superior insisted that Bruno needed to stand up for himself. The Catholic bully boys, led by Eddie Mazzaratti, picked on 450-pound Angela and called her a fat f**k, so she scared them off by pretending to run them over with her pink and yellow Cadillac. At the nail salon, Angela’s girlfriend, Delores Tucci showed Angela a new color of makeup called Coronation Pinkas Bruno stared at Delores’ breasts in the very revealing shirt Delores wore. Since neither adult females wanted to ruin their manicures, Delores painted the nail polish on her son Bruno’s nails to see what it looked like. When Angela learned that her ex-husband, Dino’s, tramp of a girlfriend, Donna Marie, also bought Coronation Pink, Angela bought a bunch of it and stormed out to White Castle to eat a feast of a meal (for herself multiple burgers, fries, dessert and diet Coke). Bruno wasn’t hungry and didn’t want to go to his hockey game, but Angela insisted he go because his dad (Dino) police department was the team sponsor. Bruno lost the game and was laughed at after he fell multiple times with Dino watching with his other police buddies in uniform. Angela went to her bingo game, where she and Donna Marie exchanged abusive words like whore and (fat) elephant. When Angela tried to attack Donna, she fainted and Mother Superior ordered Angela to leave the game. Later that night, officer Dino showed up at his ex’s house and asked Angela about the kids she tried to run over and she tried to deny it, but he had the report proving it was her and exact description of her vehicle that matched Angela’s. Dino told Angela that Bruno wasn’t going to play hockey anymore and Dino would personally arrest Angela if she came within two miles of the school.Dino then saw his son wearing a girl’s nightgown on the stairway because Angela dressed Bruno in it so the two parents argued about it (Angela defended dressing a boy up like a girl and Dino wasn’t happy how the adult female was destroying God’s son). Angela pretended to start a diet the new morning, but she secretly ate unhealthy food and drank more Diet Coke. At school, the boys tried to throw Bruno out the two-story window but the Catholic nun teacher interrupted them. The new girl, Shawniqua Van Adams, was obsessed with being a cowgirl and always carried around toy cap guns. The nun told Shawniqua to give up the guns, but Shawniqua refused and was disrespectful so the nun dragged her in her chair to the Consolata which ended in the Consolata chasing Shawniqua around and then Shawniqua holding the Consolata at toy gunpoint. The Catholic boys attacked Bruno againand called him a faggot, and when Shawniqua came to Bruno’s rescue the boys called her a nigger. Bruno and Shawniqua then agreed to be friends, and they went into the woods where he offered to trade his pants for her skirt because she was cold. They went to the graveyard to switch, and then they went to Bruno’s house. Shawniqua put Bruno in a dress, wig and makeup and told him that her mom Brudell died of breast cancer, her dad lived in China and her brother Henry the hairdresser took care of her. Bruno asked the young girl Shawniqua if it was okay for him to wear dresses, and she replied yes because they were both free spirits trying to express themselves and they both wore pants. The two of them then went outside in the rain to play Cowboys, and Bruno stepped out into the street and was hit by a car. Bruno was rushed to the hospital with everyone under the impression he was a girl until they took his dress off. Bruno was kept overnight to recover from his concussion, and he had a dream about being in heaven where the angels gave him a white dress-like toga and put a blond wig on him. The medical doctor told the parents it was lucky the boy had on a girl’s wig because that saved his life (when the wig didn’t seem to have any kind of real padding to do that). Dino and Donna Marie left because Dino was upset that boy Bruno had been wearing a dress and a female wig. Shawniqua later admitted to Bruno that she lied about her dad being in China because he spanked Shawniqua for playing with Bruno near the street with the newly created free spirited trans boy. Angela and Bruno went to the salon, where he told Delores that Angela was giving him an early Easter present of pajamas and a dress that her son could only wear around the house. Delores didn’t think anything of it because Jose down the street used to wear dresses, so she sprayed Bruno with perfume and then she and Angela helped Bruno try on dozens of dresses at a local shop until he found a white one similar to the one in his dream. Angela charged the dress to Dino’s account and made the officer pay for it. Bruno spotted Eddie outside and discovered that Eddie’s dad was very overweight like his mom, Angela. Bruno entered the Catholic school spelling bee (he was good at it because he often read the dictionary and he wanted to be an etymologist who studied words) in hopes of winning the state competition and going to Washington, D.C. and then winning the National Catholic Spelling Championship to win an all-expenses paid flight to the Vatican City and have a private audience with Pope John Paul II (as though the Pope were more important than meeting the President of the USA in your own One Nation Under GOD country). When it was Bruno’s turn to spell, everyone laughed hysterically at Bruno’s dress and tiara. Bruno was carried out to Mother Superior’s school office, where he shouted at her and told her that he was expressing himself and the angels gave him power with his dresses.Bruno made the point that all the great male masters in other cultures wore dresses, including the Pope and Angela agreed. Mother Superior was shocked and called Angela and Bruno insane, and she told Angela that nobody loved herand Dino was engaged to Donna Marie. Mother Superior informed Bruno that he would wear a suit and tie at the regional and she would rip the dress off Bruno’s a** if he tried to visit the Pope in one. As Bruno and Angela left, the bully Catholic boys threw eggs at the car and terrorized them which upset Angela greatly. The police then came to the house because Angela was reported as being hysterical. Angela had a breakdown and screamed that she needed her husband, and then she had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital to recuperate. Dino (officer) didn’t want anything to do with his goddamned sissy son, so he and Donna Marie stormed out. Bruno’s grandmother Helen (officer’s mom) took over and brought Bruno to her house, where she made him change out of his dress and cut his hair short. Angela told Helen that she was letting go of Dino for good. Bruno went missing, so Helen found the bullies picking on another kid. Helen called Eddie a dickhead and demanded to know where she could find Bruno, and Eddie sent Helen to the graveyard where Bruno was hiding. Helen asked Bruno why he wore dresses, and he argued that they were holy vestments that gave him the power to be mean. He added that he didn’t care that people wanted to kill him when he wore dresses because he wasn’t afraid of death. Helen taught him to defend himself so he could keep wearing dresses, and the two of them drank a shot of whiskey. Helen, Angela (dressmaker), Shawniqua and her brother Henry worked on a wig and flamboyant dress for Bruno to wear to the Manhattan spelling championship. When the Catholic nuns tried to carry Bruno offstage, Helen pointed Shawniqua’s guns at them. Helen told the crowd to leave if they had a problem with the little boy in a dress, and a few people left. Little boy Bruno won and became famous in the news for being the cross-dressing Queen of the Bees. He did an interview for the news about how he started wearing dresses after a dream, and Angela thought it was beautiful to see her son in drag. When the bullies called Bruno gay, Bruno fought Eddie and defeated him. Upon their arrival in Washington, D.C., wearing cowgirl outfits, religious rights activists protesting against Bruno’s dresses surrounded Bruno, Shawniqua, Angela and Helen. Bruno won the last part of the championship with officer Dino there, and the two of them made amends at the airport. Bruno and Angela then flew to Rome, where Bruno met the Pope and the two hugged in their long white dress robes and Pope and boy walked off alone together. The movie cover art listed, The Boston Globe, “Full of charm and fun!”

REASON: This movie began with President JFK’s speech about droughts at the groundbreaking of the San Luis Dam in California in 1962. In present day, a dowser led a group to find water in the Central California farming community of Bella Canejo that was now run-down and ravaged by severe drought. They found the dead body of Markus Gardner underneath a tractor that he used to scout out a well. Meanwhile, Markus’s daughter Emma was a journalist for the New York Weekly Magazine Fashion Column. She interviewed celebrities about their designer jewelry and fashion at an event where an actress wondered if she was a villain in real life when she played one in the new movie called The Wrong Side of Right. Emma’s mom, Olivia, called to tell her that Markus was dead, and Emma left for Bella Canejo (where she grew up) days before her deadline. She discovered that townspeople were being arrested and sentenced to years in prison for stealing water from reservoirs, and other people were living off from food banks and using free public showers. At Markus’s funeral, Mr. Nguygen said that when he and other Vietnamese immigrated to Bella Canejo, Markus gave them jobs and lent them money to buy land even after he fought against their people in the war. After the funeral, someone threw something and it smashed through Olivia’s house window. Olivia screamed at the SOBs speeding away in the truck and fired at them with her shotgun. Emma looked through the newspaper clippings in Markus’s office and learned about the impending dust bowls, deaths from the drought and gangs moving into the area. When Emma found a ransom-type note threatening that Markus would regret it if he didn’t stop, she went to Dylan’s Ditch where the accident happened. In the dark, a gang member named Scorpion held Emma at gunpoint and told her to take her dress off so she stripped down to her bra and underwear. Scorpion forced Emma to turn around and see his face, and he threatened to kill her if she told anyone what he and his gang were doing. Emma sped off in her car traumatized, but she returned on her dirt bike the next morning. Mr. Nguygen told her that the gangsters cut all of his irrigation hoses in the night, so he was going to sell his farm to Patrick Waring and return to Vietnam to be buried there with his family. Emma suspected that her dad was murdered, and she told Sheriff Nico Reynoso. He insisted that it was an accident because Markus’s blood alcohol level was very high, and Sheriff Nico had begged the coroner not to include that on the report. Emma was skeptical because Markus never drank and she knew he wouldn’t have taken a tractor down Dylan’s Ditch. Emma gave Nico the threatening note to analyze, and he explained that Markus ruffled the feathers of politicians and environmentalists and his feud with Patrick got worse when Patrick started pressuring all the farmers to sell their land. Emma went along with Nico to Crash Murphy’s farm, where Adam Campbell, an official at the National Nature Society, led a group of people to violently protest against drilling there. Nico broke it up and sent everyone away because it was private property. Crash told Emma that he studied agriculture at UC Berkeley, and then he took Emma to the C.W. Bill Jones Pumping Plant. Crash explained that the pumps that supplied water to Bella Canejo were shut off and caused people to die after environmentalists filed a lawsuit on behalf of the tiny Delta Smelt fish which needed the fresh water to survive. Markus made enemies of the politicians when he tried to convince them to turn the pumps back on. Olivia insisted that Markus’s death was accidental and she drank her alcohol as she told Emma that she was selling her farm as soon as possible and moving to a beachfront house to drink wine. Emma went to the Nature Society in Fresno to see Adam, whose girlfriend was pregnant. Adam knew all about Emma because he looked her up on Facebook. Emma met wealthy and elderly Stephanie Windemere who was donating most of her money to the organization because she couldn’t take it with her and she wanted to leave a legacy to a good cause in her name. Ron Skinner was the head of the Windemere Family Trust. Adam made his case about how they needed to get the smelt off the endangered list (and put the farmers on the endangered list instead making USA dependable on foreign countries for their food supply) and how the land in Bella Canejo wasn’t suitable for farming anyway. Emma argued that many factors other than the water impacted the smelt’s well-being, and the Central Valley was responsible for producing 100% of the nation’s broccoli, walnuts, pistachios and pomegranates and 95% of the strawberries and grapes. Emma left telling Stephanie that hopefully the legacy she wanted to leave wasn’t putting farmers out of business. Emma spotted people in an office putting up the names of farmers on a list of those selling and those holding out, and when the workers saw Emma they put the blinds down. Emma called Mr. Nguygen, and he confirmed that Patrick was the only person he told that he was going to sell his farm. Emma asked Nico’s dad Francisco about Markus and Patrick, and he explained that ever since Patrick and Olivia were high school sweethearts, Markus had been at odds with Patrick and almost killed him over a disagreement that landed Patrick in the hospital. A heavily-armed group of gangsters, led by Scorpion who only came around when the water stopped flowing, showed up and threatened to burn down Francisco’s house and trees if he didn’t hire them for work. Francisco said he didn’t have any money, and the gangsters refused to leave when Sheriff Nico told them to. They were going to have a shootout against the lone sheriff with no backup, but were interrupted by Nico’s young son, Tomasito, throwing up because he ate the canned Chinese food from the food bank. They took Tomasito to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a bad case of food poisoning and would be kept overnight. Tomasito’s Hispanic family agreed to only feed him tacos after that. Emma told the doctor to send her the bill if the family needed anything, and the doctor replied that she had been Markus’s doctor since his diagnosis of skin cancer. Emma looked through the file and was shocked to see that Patrick was listed as the emergency contact for her dad. Emma followed Patrick and witnessed him trying to convince Crash to sell his farm and get out while he could. Crash refused, and Patrick threatened Crash that he would change his mind or else. Emma snooped inside Patrick’s locked barn, and then Patrick grabbed her and threatened to make her disappear when she accused him of murdering Markus because he refused to sell his land. Patrick refused to answer Emma’s question why he was Markus’s emergency contact. Adam held a meeting where Stephanie dedicated the Nature Society headquarters that were placed in Bella Canejo. There were mixed feelings about it and Crash argued that 30,000 farmers were out of work, they couldn’t feed their children and the prices of food were skyrocketing. Adam claimed the economy would get better and the farmers would find better jobs. Emma called her boss Steph and tried to get more time off from work, and Steph agreed but she wasn’t happy about it. Emma confronted Olivia about Markus’s skin cancer that gave him three months to live, and Olivia said she didn’t know anything about it. Scorpion then threw something through the window, set a truck on fire and sped off. Emma followed Scorpion to a junkyard on her dirt bike, where she overheard Scorpion conversing with the man he was working for. Emma sent Nico a screenshot of her phone’s serial number and put it inside the truck’s gas tank. Emma was discovered and chased, but she escaped and went to the Reynoso house where the gangsters had burned down the trees while Francisco was out of town. Emma told Sheriff Nico to use the screenshot to track her phone, and then she went to the city and county offices. Donna informed Emma that it would take about three days for her to get a list of the buyers and sellers of land in the last 18 months, but reporter Emma talked Donna into letting her peek at the files. Emma called Nico and told him that one person did not make the eleven major land purchases in their area, but instead different corporations purchased the land. Nico brought Emma to a convenience store where the signal from her phone had ended. They reviewed the security camera footage and learned that the female dowser who found Markus’s body was speaking to the truck driver outside the store. Emma and Nico got the truth out of the dowser that a man gave her money and a folder telling her which places to not search for water and avoid where the water was so people wouldn’t know where to find it. The dowser didn’t know who the man was and his phone number changed every time he called her. She gave Nico the last number, and Nico made Emma promise not to do anything without him. Emma discovered that the phone number was written on a piece of paper torn from a New Frontier Solar brochure, and that was one of the corporations that recently bought land. Since she couldn’t call the solar company, Emma went to the address and the building was closed. Emma’s car alarm started blaring, and after she shut it off Scorpion ran up behind her and knocked her out. She woke up in the trunk of a car tied up, and she managed to free herself just as Scorpion opened the trunk. She knocked him out with a shovel and sped off in the car. Scorpion’s wallet containing his room card for the Palms Inn was on the seat, so reporter Emma and Sheriff Nico used the card to unlock Scorpion’s room. Other officers searched the area where Emma escaped from Scorpion, but he was gone. Sheriff Nico found a USB in the room, and he and Emma watched the video footage of Patrick stealing water. They concluded that one person owned all of the corporations that bought up the farmer’s land. When Emma got back home, Olivia confessed that she and Patrick had an affair and she had lied about it to Emma and Markus (but they didn’t believe her and their trust in her was ruined) ever since Emma found Olivia and Patrick in a barn together years before. Olivia then went to see Patrick, and he explained that the corporations caught him stealing water and threatened to expose him if he didn’t sell his farm and help them convince the other farmers to sell too. Meanwhile, Sheriff Nico confronted Scorpion (real name Edgar Escamilla) who ran when he saw the backup police Nico brought. Nico took Scorpion down and arrested him, and then police, FBI and Emma went to the Nature Society. Ron Skinner, the mastermind, was arrested for violation of the RICO Act, bribery, vandalism and extortion. Emma explained that the Windemere Family Trust owned all the corporations that bought the land, and it was Ron’s doing and not Stephanie’s because he signed all the paperwork. He hired thugs like Scorpion to intimidate the farmers into selling their land, and he used his power of attorney and elderly Stephanie’s money to purchase the land. Ron also used the nature organization to depreciate land values by creating environmental roadblocks so he could purchase it for pennies on the dollar. Emma and Nico added that Ron bought off the politicians so they would vote to turn the pumps off, and Ron had planned to turn the pumps back on once he owned all the farmland which generated $30 billion in revenue every year. Stephanie and Adam had no idea about it, and Stephanie wanted to make everything right so she founded the Central Valley Water Coalition. The headquarters were placed in Bella Canejo, and the organization would fight injustices of the law. Emma stayed behind to take over the Gardner farmhouse and property while mom Olivia left to go live by the beach. Emma visited Patrick, who took the plea bargain and was packing up to leave for a reduced six-week sentence at the Sheridan minimum-security prison. Emma noticed that the cigarettes Patrick were smoking were the same kind she found at the accident site, so she announced that Patrick must have murdered Markus because the FBI confirmed that Ron and Scorpion had a solid alibi for that day. Patrick said he committed assisted suicide by helping Markus kill himself with the tractor. Patrick then showed Emma a video on his phone of Markus addressing Emma. Markus confirmed Patrick’s statement and explained that he was dying anyway and his wife was already in distress, so he took his life early so Olivia wouldn’t have to change his diapers in his old age or deal with his cancer. Emma said she didn’t want her mom or anyone else to see it, and Patrick replied that he gave his word to Markus he would only show Emma so Patrick dropped the phone in liquid that looked like water. Emma heard from Steph, who gave her a front-page, three-part cover story about the man-made drought and exposure. Sheriff Nico appeared with a six-pack of Francisco’s homemade beer, and Nico and Emma kissed and he welcomed her home.

REASON: This movie takes place in New Jersey and began with teenager Nick skipping school and leaving apologetic messages for his ex-girlfriend, Tris. The last time they spoke was a month before when she broke up with him on his birthday. Teenage Tris had been cheating on Nick the whole time they were together. Nick said f**k when the message got deleted. Nick was the only straight member (bass player) in the gay band the Jerk Offs, and they convinced Nick to play at their gig that night even though he was depressed and didn’t want to. Nick repeatedly sent Tris CDs, and she threw them away. However, Norah, the daughter of Ira Silverberg, the big time record producer that owned the famous Electric Lady Studios, couldn’t understand why because she liked the band’s music and the cover art Nick made for the CDs. A local radio station advertised a scavenger hunt where fans (including unsupervised teens out all hours of the night and underage drinking heavily in nightclubs too) of the band, “Where’s Fluffy,” searched had to find the band in the city in order to attend their secret concert. Norah and her friend Caroline showed up at the Jerk Off band show, where Caroline and other teens drank alcohol and partied. Tris was with her new college boyfriend Gary, and she taunted Norah with Gary so Norah lied that she came with someone. Norah had her eye on Nick and asked him to be her boyfriend for five minutes, and before he agreed Norah made Nick kiss her and Tris couldn’t believe it was her ex, Nick. Nick then helped Norah carry drunken Caroline outside, and they declined to give Tris a ride when she asked for one. Nick’s old yellow Yugo wouldn’t start, so his band’s van appeared and Thom sent Norah into the van to talk to Dev the lead singer. Inside the van, Dev (gay) had Norah change her sports bra to a sexier pushup because the band decided that Norah needed to be Nick’s salvation and get his mind off Tris. Thom gave Nick a pep talk and the band decided they would take Caroline home while Nick and Norah went to find Fluffy. Norah threatened to kill the guys if they did anything to Caroline (high school student) as they carried her to the van with her short dress showing her underwear. Nick and Norah started driving, and when Norah asked if the band members were gay Nick replied that they were 100% gay and if anyone was going to get raped in that van, it would be a guy. A couple then mistook Nick’s car for a taxi and jumped into the backseat to make out passionately and then have sex while Nick drove and Norah was in the passenger seat. Nick had the guy pay him extra for the cleanup as though Nick were really a cab driver. Norah announced that she got into Brown college and had until the following day to decide if she wanted to go or not, and Nick replied that he got into the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Once the couple was gone, Norah stopped for a bathroom break and called Caroline. Caroline just woke up in the back of the van and screamed and ran when she realized where she was. Norah noticed writing on the bathroom wall where someone wrote that Fluffy might be at the Brooklyn Pool. Nick and Norah argued and he said that Tris never mentioned Norah by name but she must be the jealous bit** Tris was talking about. The band then called Nick to tell him that they lost Caroline, so they went to search for Caroline before they could look for Fluffy. When Nick and Norah met back up with the Jerkoffs, Norah called the band a fistful of a**holes, and they considered changing their name to that instead of Sh** Sandwich. Caroline was at the bus station trying to get a ride home to Englewood, but she didn’t have enough money for a ticket and she claimed she had been kidnapped. She sneezed out her gum and snot on the glass screen at the counter, and then she put it back in her mouth. The ticket booth person closed the window blind on her. Caroline sat down next to a man and told him her troubles, and she asked to eat his turkey sandwich since Norah always made her those to help Caroline feel better. However, Caroline didn’t get the chance to eat it because she rushed off to the bathroom to throw up (and the person no doubt didn’t eat it either since Caroline barf belched around it and put her chewed gum on the wrapper. Norah and the band went to the bus station where Norah called Caroline on the phone. However, Caroline still wasn’t sober and dropped her phone (at the same bus station) into the vomit-filled toilet, and she fished both the phone and the gum (which she put back in her mouth) out of the toilet. Norah couldn’t hear Caroline talking over the loud music on the phone, and the band members figured Caroline was at the Brooklyn Pool club. Norah agreed to go to New York, and they left the bus station seconds after teen Caroline staggered out of the bathroom. At the club, Nick and Norah danced and he said he got the Ellen DeGeneres haircut while Dev and his new boyfriend Lethario danced. Everyone was hoping to hear Fluffy, but they were disappointed when it turned out to be another dud performance by the Are You Randy band. Norah ran into Tal, her ex-boyfriend but still “friends with benefits,” but she decided to leave with the Nick and the other band members. Tris spotted them and dragged her older boyfriend Gary with her into a cab to follow the van. The group narrowed their search down to Caroline’s favorite places to barf when she was drunk. Sure enough, Caroline had made her mark at the convenience store again and the owner was busy chipping the frozen vomit out of the ice cream freezer. Tris followed Norah inside and they talked about orgasms while the boys talked about the Beatles outside. Thom then held Nick’s hand as a gay teen couple walked by holding hands as well. Caroline called Tris and she gave the phone to Norah. Caroline said she found Jesus, a long-haired altar boy smoking a cigarette and wearing a crown of thorns, outside the church and she had to follow him inside because he was not wearing any pants. Nick checked out another church and encountered two homeless men who tried to hit on him, so he ran back to the van. Dev suggested that the pant less Jesus could be at the Midnight A**, the all-male “holigay” revue (and all year-round Christmas show) at Camera Obscura with songs like “Deck the Balls,” and “O Horny Night.” The venue was filled with adult gay men that the teens hit on as the transgender men sang their version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” ending with a partridge in their panties. Caroline then jumped out of the Christmas tree thinking she was in a Broadway play, and Norah took her back to the van. Norah told Nick that she would probably go to Brown because she would only be an hour away from him at Berklee and Norah wanted to get away from her minion Caroline duties. However, Norah was upset when Nick left to talk to Tris so Norah called Tal and met up with him at a club while the band dropped Caroline off at her house. Tal gave Norah a present of the “Oz-Rael,” CD his amateur band made, and he explained that it was a mix between anarchy and Zionism and they brought the Jew fire. Norah was mad when she realized that Tal didn’t get give a gift because he liked her but because he was using her to get to her dad and have his band’s music produced. Norah told the waitress to increase Tal’s bill and then left. Tris insisted that Nick give her a drive home in his Yugo, and then she told him to pull over. Tris put Nick’s hand on her breast to confirm that it was real, and when Tris’s favorite song played, “you sexy thing” lyrics, Tris got out of the car and danced sexy in front of Nick. Nick started thinking about Norah, so he left Tris alone in the street and then called Norah on a payphone because she had his cell phone. Nick apologized and then met up with Norah at Veselka where Norah was pigging out eating her troubles away. Norah revealed that she was with Tal for three years and until that night with Nick, she hadn’t kissed anyone other than him and a girl named Becca Weiner when Norah was thirteen. Meanwhile, the band heard on the radio a clue to Fluffy’s whereabouts that was a set of seemingly random set of numbers. Caroline identified them as an address, so the band drove recklessly to get onto the road to the New York address. Norah took Nick to the Electric Lady Studios, and she revealed that if she didn’t go to Brown there was a job at the studio lined up for her. Norah learned that Nick actually wrote her favorite song. She recited something from Judaism about how the world was broken into pieces and people were supposed to put them together, and Nick suggested that people were the pieces. Nick and Norah went to the couch, and as they undressed, he commented that she was wearing a bra just like Dev’s. Nick and Norah then had sex on the sofa in her dad’s recording studio. Caroline text Norah the address of the Fluffy concert in New York, and Nick and Norah went there. Tris had a hissy fit when she saw Norah with Nick, and when Tal tried to fight Nick, Lethario headbutted Tal and injured his nose. Caroline continued drinking, and then Nick and Norah (who didn’t drink) decided they didn’t care about seeing the concert and they were going to go home. The two teens kissed on the escalator at Penn Station. This movie had a budget of $10 million and grossed over $33 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV “An all out fun experience that will make you fall in love with the magic of movies.”

TITLE:  The Blue Bird

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1940  20th Century Fox

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie takes place at Christmastime and began with two young siblings, Mytyl and her younger brother Tyltyl, going alone in the woods and the girls ignored the “no trespassing by order of Rudolph IV,” sign. Mytyl wanted a pet bird for Christmas, so she and Tyltyl caught a brown thrush and put it in a cage. Young Angela Berlingot was sick in bed and begged Mytyl to swap her the bird for a doll, but Mytyl selfishly said no and stormed off. Daddy Tyl said grace at dinner, and then he and Mummy Tyl scolded Mytyl for catching the bird and rudely not letting Angela have it to cheer her up. Mytyl’s parents told her that she wasn’t appreciative of what she had, and eldest ungrateful Mytyl replied that she had nothing and she wished she were rich like other people. Wilhelm came to the door with orders from Andreas Hofer to mobilize immediately because Napoleon’s soldiers were headed to the frontier. Daddy agreed to go off to war and fight. Everyone was upset about him leaving, so Daddy told Mytyl to remember that she couldn’t be unhappy herself without making others unhappy and to remember that all through her life. Later that night, brother and sister awakened in their shared bedroom because they heard a knock at the door. They went to get their parents, but then the door opened and a fairy named Berylune in a coat of many colors appeared. She told the siblings they needed to look everywhere and find the blue bird so they could be happy, and Berylune turned Tylette the cat and Tylo the dog into humans to help the children. Berylune also summoned Light, in the form of a woman, to be their guide. Light took the children to the graveyard and informed them that they had only one hour to look for the blue bird in the Land of Memory otherwise they would be stuck in the past forever. Tylette (cat) tried to convince Tylo (dog) to help her sabotage the mission and prevent the children from finding the blue bird so the two of them wouldn’t be turned back into slaves to man. Tylo didn’t want to help, so Tylette started scheming and told the children that midnight was the witching hour when the dead came to life. Tylette disappeared to scare the children, but they quickly realized that nothing happened when the clock struck midnight. They spotted the graves of their Granny and Grandpa and thought about them, which awoke them from their slumber in the graveyard and allowed Mytyl and Tyltyl to visit their grandparents at their cottage. Granny showed Mytyl all the caged birds outside, but none of them were blue. Mytyl yodeled to Grandpa’s whistling carvings like old times, and then Tylette changed the clock so the children wouldn’t know what time it was and they left in a hurry. Granny and Grandpa were upset but knew they would be thought of often and see their grandchildren again. Light didn’t think it was wise to spend too much time in the Land of Luxury where everyone had everything they wanted, but Tylette convinced everyone to go. When they arrived at a posh manor, Mr. and Mrs. Luxury greeted them and gave Mytyl and Tyltyl nice clothes and ponies but the siblings fought over the items. Mr. and Mrs. Luxury soon realized there was no satisfying the children and giving them extravagant gifts just made them act spoiled. Mytyl couldn’t sleep that night and got up to talk to Mr. Luxury, and he didn’t want anything to do with her. Mytyl wanted to pretend the man was her dad and kiss and hug him goodnight, and Mr. Luxry allowed it but yelled when Mytyl tried to climb on his lap and his bones cracked. Mytyl confided in Tylo that even though her parents were poor, she wouldn’t trade them for rich people like Mr. and Mrs. Luxury because they were unkind. Mytyl, Tyltyl and Tylo agreed to leave, but conniving Tylette thought it was a mistake so she woke up everyone in the house by knocking over a statue, and the group barely escaped from the guards. Light let the children and Tylo rest when they returned from the Land of Luxury. Tylette ran off into the woods and summoned the Trees (in human form) to tell them that Mytyl and Tyltyl were the children of a woodcutter and therefore the enemies of the Trees. Tylette instructed the Trees to frighten the children away and make them forget what they were there for, but the Trees decided to take it one step further and recruit the elements to destroy the children. Tylette led Tylo and the children to a tree, where the Wind blew strongly and Lightning struck the trees causing a forest fire. Tylette was trapped among the fire and burned up, so Tylo took Mytyl and Tyltyl to safety in a boat. When they made it to shore, Light was waiting for them and sent the children to the Kingdom of Future. They encountered dozens of other boys and girls around their age wearing thigh-short togas and dresses. They explained that they were waiting their turn to be born, and in the meantime, they were practicing the professions they would have on Earth and working on things such as anesthetics that they would invent. One girl knew Mytyl and Tyltyl by name because she would be born as their little sister in a year, but she was unhappy that she would die soon after. A boy told Mytyl and Tyltyl that he would be sent to Earth soon (that day, it turned out), but he didn’t want to go because he planned to fight the slavery and greed that many people were born into but he knew they wouldn’t listen to his ideas about people being free, equal and united (as everyone was in the Kingdom) and they would instead destroy him. Time then appeared and called all the children who were going to be born that day. Some of them tried to sneak onto the silver boat but failed, and two young teens in love were upset that they had to be separated and would never see each other again. Light brought Mytyl and Tyltyl back to their cottage and she left after telling them to tell Berylune the truth that they didn’t find the blue bird but they did their best. Mytyl and Tyltyl woke up the next morning and were happy to see their parents, and they talked about the adventures they had in their dream. Wilhelm then came to the door and announced that a truce was called the previous night and a treaty was about to be signed, so there would be no fighting. Mummy and Daddy praised God, and both Tylo and Tylette were back in their animal forms even though Tylette burned up in the fire. Mytyl then noticed that her home and everyone and everything around bright and beautiful. When she saw that the brown thrush was now blue, she realized that happiness was right where she was with her loving God-hearted family. Mytyl gave Angela the blue bird, but Angela was upset that the blue bird flew away when she took it out of the cage. Mytyl reassured Angela that they would find the blue bird again because now they knew where to look for it.

TITLE:  Boathouse Detectives

BOX OFFICE RATED:  NR

PRODUCTION YEAR:  2010  Taylor James Media / MTI Home Video / Artist View Entertainment / Pure Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie takes place in Brighton, Colorado, where seven-year-old Anna’s dad, David, had died three years before. Anna’s step mom Shannon had a custody battle with Anna’s grandma, Florence McKenzie, and took Anna away even though Anna wanted to stay with Grandma. One morning, Anna overheard Shannon’s plot to have her boyfriend Dexter Phillips, David’s lawyer, forge David’s signature on fake paperwork to make it look like Shannon was Anna’s guardian and was in charge of her $50 million inheritance so then Shannon could transfer the money to an account in her name. Shannon and Dexter planned to put Anna in a Brussels boarding school until she was 18 while they went to the French Riviera and spent the money (Shannon didn’t actually plan to bring Dexter with her and she was just using him to get the forged signature and money in her name and then all the millions of dollars transferred to a bank account in Shannon’s name). When Anna heard that the adults were going to put her little dog, Toby, in the pound, Anna wrote a speedy letter to Grandma and asked her for help and Anna included a lock of her blond hair that she cut off. Anna tied one of her three birthday balloons to the letter and sprayed it with some of her perfume. Because she didn’t know where Grandma lived, Anna climbed up into the third-story attic tower from the ladder in her bedroom closet and then released the balloon holding the letter out of the open window. Shannon caught Anna when she came back down the ladder and scolded her for going into the attic when Shannon told her not to do that. The police visited Grandma Florence at her home. Grandma was in bed, and she explained that Anna’s mom died when Anna was a baby and David remarried evil Shannon the gold digger. Florence said her son David told her that if anything ever happened to him she (Grandma) would have guardianship of Anna and control of her granddaughter’s inheritance. However, Florence couldn’t remember where the original document was that proved David told her she would have guardianship of Anna and control of the inheritance. Florence begged the officers to help her find the document since they couldn’t do anything without it, but they left. A young boy named Jake found the downed balloon and fished it out of the pond (the movie cover art said that Jake’s friend Gage Williams found it). Jake took the mysterious letter home and tried to show his mom the letter, but she said she had no time for that and then a minute later when the phone rang mom told her gal pal that she had the time to listen and help her through her issues (but no time to help the child). Mom told Jake to get the door (so she could keep talking to her girlfriend) and when the young boy answered it, a psycho dogcatcher told the boy he wanted to take Jake’s dog Otto away and then threatened to kill Otto if the dog was seen without a leash again. Jake showed Gage the letter, and the water had blurred Grandma’s name but Gage recognized the perfume and used his cell phone to call Tiffany LeFevre, a local girl, who was a perfume expert. Jake called Max Rimsky, who was played paintball in the woods with an adult man in a competition and ended up outsmarting the adult. The four kids agreed to help Anna find her grandma and they met in their boathouse to make a list of clues. Tiffany was able to sniff out that the perfume was Shock and Awe from the French company Julienne that cost about $100 an ounce. Meanwhile, Anna tried to sneak out of the house with Toby, but Shannon heard Anna and dragged her back to her room. In Anna’s bedroom, Shannon found a note to Grandma that Anna started and threw in the wastebasket, and Shannon also noticed that one of Anna’s balloons was missing. Anna replied that the balloon popped and she flushed it down the toilet, but Shannon was skeptical and called Dexter to tell him that Anna sent a letter to Grandma using her balloon. Dexter was interrupted by Florence and her lawyer Walter Gooding coming for a visit. However, Walter couldn’t prove that David’s signature was forged because it was very realistic (it was David’s real signature that was put on the forged document by Dexter so it appeared David had signed the fake paperwork). Florence told Dexter that he was a liar and she would be back with the original, non-forged document. The four tween kids went through the phonebook and used their cell phones to call people and ask if they had a blond granddaughter named Anna. One of them called Shannon, who was baffled and quickly hung up saying she didn’t know any girl named Anna. The kids thought it was a waste of time and wanted to give up, but Max wanted to reunite Anna with her grandma because Max’s parents died when he was younger and he had been living in foster homes all his life so he knew what it was like not to have a forever home with someone that loves you. The group went to see 9-year-old genius and software writer George Washington Cardwell, who did research for the president, called him often and even got an invitation to the president’s daughter’s birthday party. George suggested that Gage spray a cheap knock-off version of the perfume in his room so that his subconscious would be unlocked while he slept and he might remember what girl he smelled the perfume on. Gage’s mom was a bit worried that her son’s room smelled like girl’s perfume when she said goodnight to her son. Clubhouse Detectives and Horse Crazy posters were seen in the kids’ rooms. Gage had a dream that night and recalled seeing Anna at the library and complimenting her on her Shock and Awe perfume. The next morning, Shannon took Toby away and locked crying Anna in her room. The kids had an idea to use the computer system at school to look up Anna, so Gage put white makeup on Jake’s face to make him look pale and gave Jake a bag of mushy food. Jake put the mush on an office desk to make it look like he threw up, and an assistant vomited for real when she saw it. Jake told Ms. Crouch that he ate the school lunch, and Ms. Crouch taste tested the “vomit,” and identified exactly what it was. She told Jake that it wasn’t the spaghetti they served for lunch and she took Jake to the janitor’s office to clean the mess up. Gage quickly used Ms. Crouch’s computer to look up Anna’s name and address.Tiffany went to Anna’s door, and Shannon instructed Dexter to lie so he told Tiffany that Anna’s family moved a week before to California or Oregon. Shannon was worried and told Dexter they were leaving for Europe that night before they got caught. Jake spotted a small dog in the back of the dogcatcher’s truck, and Jake called the dog Toby and it responded. Jake had left Florence McKenzie a message asking if she had a granddaughter, and she returned Jake’s call. They met at Florence’s house and she explained that she couldn’t remember where the document was so Jake suggested elder Florence try the subconscious mind technique. Jake looked David up on the Internet and discovered that David was born in Surrey, England, but his family moved to Colorado when he was young. Jake sent the link to Tiffany, and then Max knocked on Jake’s window and told him that something was suspicious with Shannon and Dexter. The two boys snuck out and searched the trashcans outside the house, and they found the note Anna started writing to Grandma as well as a dog bowl with Toby’s name on it. Jake spotted Dexter and recognized him, and Max climbed up the outside of the house and snuck into Anna’s room through the window. Anna screamed when she saw Max, but he assured her that he was there to help her. Shannon heard the scream and came running, and Anna said she saw a mouse. Max called the others and explained that they were locked in, so the boys messed with the water valve to set off the sprinklers. Gage went to the door and told Dexter there was a geyser in the yard, so Dexter went to take care of it. Tiffany sneaked into the house through the back door that Dexter left unlocked, and Tiffany used the key that was outside Anna’s door to unlock it. Jake told the taxi driver who came to pick up Shannon and Dexter that their flight was delayed because Jake’s sister was sick and had to be taken to the hospital. Shannon called the taxi service and rescheduled the cab when she learned that it was canceled. She knew something was up and she sent Dexter to check on Anna who was no longer in her room. The kids hid while the adults searched for Anna, and when Shannon found Tiffany and grabbed her Max hit both Shannon and Dexter with paint-balls (making Dexter think he got shot but Shannon knew it was paint) so everyone could run. Jake hid Anna in a cabinet under the sink, and Shannon engaged all the locks in the house. Shannon and Dexter chased the kids around the house and suffered more paint-balls while Gage went to the pound to find Toby because Anna confirmed that was where Toby was sent. Gage saw the dogcatcher teasing the dogs dangling food outside the cages, so Gage locked the dogcatcher in a cage and then retrieved Toby. Tiffany called George for help to hot-wire and hack the security system, and Tiffany opened all the doors. Florence appeared with the police and announced that she tried the subconscious mind trick and found the document. She gave it to the police and everyone watched the digital version of David’s will where he left everything to Anna and put his mom Florence in charge of Anna and Anna’s inheritance and not Shannon. Shannon put on a fake drama show to make it look like Dexter deceived her then, but the police arrested the two lying thieves. Anna was reunited with Grandma who wouldn’t let anyone take Anna away again, and Gage appeared and gave Toby to Anna. Grandma later surprised all the kids with a balloon ride.

TITLE:  The Super Mario Bros. Movie

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2023 Universal Pictures / Nintendo / Illumination / Shigeru Miyamoto / Chris Meledandri Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This cartoon movie had characters from a video game series and began with the turtle villain Bowser, the king of the Koopas, invading the ice kingdom of the peaceful and defenseless penguins and using fire to burn down the ice palace. Bowser stole the Super Star and was headed for the Mushroom Kingdom to destroy them and the other kingdoms because the star made him invincible. Meanwhile, Italian-American brothers Mario and Luigi spent their life savings on a commercial to advertise their Brooklyn plumbing company, Super Mario Bros. Plumbing and Spike, their former boss from the Wrecking Crew, gave them a hard time about being nobodies. The brothers’ first job ended in disaster when Luigi stepped on the wealthy owners’ dog Francis’ biscuit and then Francis attacked the brothers and the bathroom pipes started bursting. Mario’s dad scolded him for quitting his job to start that business and bringing Luigi down with him. The brothers then learned on the news that the water main under Brooklyn broke and was flooding the city and they went to save the day. They climbed into the sewer and tried to turn off the pressure valve, but the wheel broke and then they discovered an underground abandoned building. They were both transported through a portal to the Mushroom Kingdom, and Toad informed Mario that Luigi was in trouble because they were separated and he ended up in the fiery Darklands ruled by Bowser. Toad took Mario to the castle to get help from their ruler from another world Princess Peach (possibly from Earth). Toad distracted the guards outside the castle so Mario could sneak in. Princess Peach decided to go to the Jungle Kingdom in the morning to convince the Kongs to help them defeat Bowser and Mario was able to convince the princess to let him go with her. Princess Peach showed Mario how to get to their destination with practice for that day by using a power-up to eat mushrooms, which Mario didn’t like. When he ate the mushrooms, Mario became powerful and strong and was able to get through the video-game like levels in the kingdoms and defeat Bowser’s goons. It took Mario many tries to master getting through the game level. Bowser told his Koopas and Goombas that he was going to ask Princess Peach to marry him and if she didn’t agree he would power up with the star and destroy the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser’s advisor Kamek (male) dressed up as Princess Peach so Bowser (male) could practice his marriage proposal. Luigi had a flashback about how Mario always stuck up for him against bullies. Bowser ordered his advisor Kamek to find out about Mario whatever he could. Luigi was chased by vicious skeleton Koopas in the Darklands and he escaped into a dark castle, where he was captured and brought before Bowser. Bowser heard about Princess Peach training Mario to go up against the villain, so Bowser tortured Luigi by yanking out part of his mustache until Luigi revealed that Mario was his brother. Bowser planned to kill Luigi in front of Mario later, and in the meantime, Luigi was put in a cage alongside the penguins and a creature that happily said that in an insane world the sane were called crazy and there was no escape because the only hope was the sweet relief of death. When Princess Peach and Mario arrived in the Jungle Kingdom, King Cranky Kong agreed to send his army to fight Bowser only if Mario beat Cranky Kong’s conceited son Donkey King in a fight at the Great Ring of Kong. Cranky Kong put several power-ups around the arena, most of which were useless but Mario was able to find the one that turned him into a cat and gave him super-speed and sharp claws to scratch Donkey Kong with and defeat him. Donkey Kong was a sore loser and said he hated Mario but he joined the team. The army rode their souped-up go-karts on a rainbow color track headed to the Mushroom Kingdom which Bowser was about to attack, but he set up an ambush when he got wind of their plan. The Koopas attacked the Kong army, and Mario and Donkey Kong were knocked off the rainbow into the ocean below. Donkey Kong hit his head on an object and was knocked unconscious, and Mario saved Donkey Kong from drowning. However, an eel then swallowed the two. Princess Peach and Toad made it and continued on to the Mushroom Kingdom to tell the citizens to evacuate. Bowser appeared and proposed to Princess Peach, and she refused but then Bowser tortured Toad with electricity so Princess Peach agreed to marry Bowser as long as he promised not to hurt the Toads. Mario and Donkey Kong escaped out of the belly of the eel by setting off a rocket, and until they arrived at the wedding ceremony Princess Peach used power-ups to fend off Bowser and his minions. Bowser’s prisoners were invited to the royal wedding to be sacrificed in a pool of fire in honor of Princess Peach, but Donkey Kong rescued Luigi from his cage. Bowser then launched the Bomber Bill creature to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, but Mario, in his power-up raccoon suit, poked the Bomber in the eye to distract it. It chased Mario and was destroyed when it went through a Warp Pipe, which then transported everyone to Brooklyn. Bowser went after Mario and beat him up, but Mario retaliated and Princess Peach told him to use the Super Star against Bowser. Mario and Luigi both grabbed the Star (because they believed nothing could hurt them as long as they were together) and became invincible, and they fought Bowser and used a blue mushroom power-up to shrink Bowser to mini-size. Mario put Bowser in a jar and gave it to Princess Peach because Mario had told her humans from Earth kept turtles as pets. Mario and Luigi’s family were proud of them, and Spike and the Brooklyn citizens cheered for the Super Mario Brothers. Mario and Luigi then left Brooklyn and became plumbers in the Mushroom Kingdom. This movie had a budget of $100 million and grossed over $1.3 billion at the box office.

TITLE:  Steel Magnolias

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1989  Tristar Pictures / Rastar Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in the Louisiana Parish of Chinquapin, where the wedding of Shelby Eatenton and attorney Jackson Latcherie took place around Easter Sunday (focus on egg hunt). Shelby’s dad Drum used his gun to shoot at all the birds outside and scare them away because Shelby didn’t want the birds sh**ing all over the place at her backyard for her reception. Shelby demanded that her mom, M’Lynn, get her a specific shade of pink nail polish and Shelby said her mom should have drowned Shelby’s younger brothers Jonathan and Tommy at birth after they put ice down M’Lynn’s back. The champagne glasses that were delivered were broken, and M’Lynn yelled at her sons not to decorate Shelby’s car with condoms to send her off on her honeymoon. One of M’Lynn’s friends, Truvy Jones, owned a beauty salon out of her house. Truvy hired Annelle Dupuy as a new hairdresserto replace the other one that left. Truvy and her husband, Spud, had an argument and then he stormed off because he didn’t want to color any more Easter eggs for the church and he didn’t want to go to Shelby’s wedding. Truvy screamed at her rebellious adult son Louie to take out the trash, but he refused to and sped off on his motorcycle. Annelle revealed that she was staying at Ruth Robeline’s boardinghouse because Annelle didn’t have a car and had to walk the long distance to Truvy’s house. Truvy said that Ruth was a twisted soul and was like Elizabeth Taylor when it came to suffering because Ruth’s son and husband died in war. Truvy and M’Lynn’s friend Clairee Belcher told Truvy to find out all she could about Annelle’s past because Clairee didn’t want the newcomer to steal Truvy’s valuables. While Drum was in the bathroom, M’Lynn took her husband’s gun off the top of the stand by the stairs where he left it and she put it in the drawer. Louisa (Ouiser) Boudreaux came by with her St. Bernard dog Rhett and announced that she came from the vet, where Whitey Black told her that Drum’s noises were causing Rhett to have nervous issues and Ouiser had to tranquilize him. M’Lynn and Shelby arrived to get their hair done at the Truvy’s salon, and Truvy and Shelby tried to convince Clairee to buy a KPDD radio station. Shelby said she had nine bridesmaids and had an argument with her fiancé Jackson. Truvy replied that one of the most romantic things was making up, and the last time her husband did something romantic for her was in 1972 when he turned the carport into the hair salon so Truvy could help support Spud financially. M’Lynn told Truvy that she and Drum were considering adding on to their house so Truvy could have her salon there. Truvy completed Shelby’s wedding hairstyle and Truvy wanted it in the Hairdo Hall of Fame. As the ladies gossiped, Shelby had a diabetic medical emergency caused by stress from the wedding. The other ladies wanted to give Shelby cookies or candy, but M’Lynn knew what to do and gave her daughter juice and treated her like a small child to help her through her episode. Annelle asked if she should get a doctor but was assured by the other women that they had the situation under control. M’Lynn revealed that Dr. Mitchell told Shelby at her last appointment that she couldn’t have children. Shelby said she told Jackson and he reassured her that he wouldn’t dump her because there were lots of children in need of good homes and they could adopt. After Shelby came out of it, her mom had her drink more juice to balance Shelby’s body out. Shelby apologized to her mom for the uncontrollable fit but M’Lynn knew it wasn’t Shelby’s fault. Truvy fixed Shelby’s wedding hair again and makeup. Ouiser was able to get out of Annelle what Ouiser’s gal pals couldn’t, and Annelle explained that her husband Bunkie vanished with all of the money, the jewelry and the car. Bunkie was in trouble with the law because of drugs, and the police questioned Annelle but she didn’t know anything and they told her the marriage might not be legal. Drum and the boys set off firecrackers in the trees to scare the birds off, and Rhett got free and went after Drum. Ouiser smashed all the Easter eggs in the back of Truvy’s car by accident when Ouiser tried to catch Rhett. After the wedding reception, M’Lynn warned Jackson about not having children with Shelby life because they were a young couple and mom knew the young adults were still immature and wouldn’t listen to the medical consequences that would put Shelby’s life in danger if Shelby got pregnant. Annelle had met Sammy DeSoto at the wedding and they hit it off and made eyes at each other. M’Lynn said Belle Marmillion was great with troubled children and was the best volunteer at the Mental Guidance Center where M’Lynn worked as a social worker. Truvy didn’t like Belle because Truvy didn’t trust anyone who did his or her own hair and she thought it was abnormal. Truvy said she wished she sent her son to the guidance center, and M’Lynn reassured Truvy that her son grew up fine but was a bit scary. Truvy (her husband home fake “imaginary” sick) replied she thought it would be fun to have access to all that secret, personal information in the state system. Truvy then wanted to play a game and get some of the private details from M’Lynn’s private social worker guidance cases to see if Truvy could figure out who the people around town were, but M’Lynn refused. Ouiser and Drum weren’t on good terms, so she gave him the butt of the armadillo groomsman cake which Jackson’s aunt Fern Thornton from Alexandria made. Truvy and Clairee gossiped about how one woman’s dress looked like two pigs fighting under a blanket. They agreed Truvy was brought up right because she didn’t leave the house without Lycra under her dress since she was 14. Everyone kicked up their feet to “Jambalaya,” on the dance floor. The drunken groomsmen later brought the bride and groom their car decorated with condom balloons as the groomsmen shot off their guns and piled on top and inside the car as they drove down the street in the neighborhood. M’Lynn and Shelby said their goodbyes as Shelby moved out of the house to start her married life. Sammy tried to offer Annelle a ride home, but she said she had new high heels to break in so she walked. At the Christmastime festivities, Nancy Beth Marmillion was crowned as Miss Merry Christmas, Santa’s most beautiful helper. Truvy had done a number on Annelle over the months of Annelle hanging around the hairdresser and Annelle had a new hairdo and wardrobe resembling Truvy’s, and was hardly recognizable. Shelby was there, and Truvy said Louie brought his girlfriend home and the nicest thing Truvy could say about the girlfriend was that she spelled all of her tattoos correctly. Annelle bragged about how the police tracked down Bunkie and put him behind bars, and then Annelle said she went wild drinking, smoking and being a Jezebel. Truvy bragged that she rescued Annelle to help her see the error of her ways, and now she went to Truvy’s church and lived with Truvy. Clairee announced that she bought KPDD, the local radio station where Clairee was the football announcer for the Devils. Truvy made a pit stop at home, where Spud was in bed smoking and sulking that he didn’t get the work contract. He told Truvy he didn’t want to watch the fireworks with her like they usually did and he was staying home instead, but he agreed to eat the “Christian” women’s chicken that Truvy brought home for him and helped make. Clairee then did a live radio interview with the rep of the Devils’ team, and he was embarrassed that Clairee chose the team locker room filled with bare-bottomed adult male players (shown on screen which is NOT PG) for the setting. Ouiser was there and used her compact mirror to catch glimpses of the naked men. Ouiser had had enough and then used some choice words on live radio to tell Clairee to shut up because all people wanted to hear about were the injuries of the game and not the color of the uniforms. M’Lynn told Shelby that there was a new psychiatrist at the mental center and Shelby needed to write down on the list to get the new person a Christmas gift so she wouldn’t feel left out. Shelby then revealed that she was pregnant and was expecting in July, and M’Lynn said congratulations as if she were going to a funeral. Shelby explained that she and Jackson were going to get a new house, and Jackson was excited and wanted a boy he could go hunting with because Jackson liked to hunt a great deal. M’Lynn asked about adoption, and Shelby said that no judge would give a baby to someone with a medical condition such as hers anyway. Shelby added that Jackson didn’t feel right about buying a baby either, and M’Lynn replied that people do it all the time but Shelby wanted a child of her own. She argued that lots of diabetics had babies, but M’Lynn told Shelby she was special and there were limits to what she could do aside from her diabetic condition. Shelby turned mean girl and spoke lies by telling her mom that she was jealous because Shelby was no longer living under M’Lynn’s roof and couldn’t tell her daughter what to do anymore when in reality mom had selflessly and caringly kept Shelby alive, educated, and raised to adulthood in Shelby’s special condition over the years. Shelby then begged for M’Lynn’s support because she knew she couldn’t get through the pregnancy without her mom’s support. Shelby and M’Lynn then went to Truvy’s house, where Annelle and Sammy were decorated the exterior for Christmas. Annelle announced that she went to the fire sale at the Baptist Bookstore in Shreveport, where she bought them out of their cheap mismatched manger scenes and made the baby Jesuses into ornaments. Truvy offered Shelby a Christmas quickie because she was running a special, but Shelby complained about crow’s feet. Shelby then told Ouiser that she ran into Owen Jenkins, an old school friend of Ouiser’s, who lived in Monroe, went to First Presbyterian and wanted to hook back up with Ouiser. Ousier wasn’t sure about meeting Owen and opening a new can of worms because she married two of the worst deadbeats around and she had three of the most ungrateful children and the only reason people were nice to her was because she had more money than God. M’Lynn counseled Ouiser on her unhealthy attitude and recommended she come down to the Guidance Center to talk to someone. Ouiser said she wasn’t crazy and she was just in a bad mood for 40 years. Clairee and Truvy sat in the corner at a Christmas party and talked trash about Clairee’s family who were in attendance. Shelby had invited Owen and reintroduced him to Ouiser, and Ouiser stormed off and confided in M’Lynn about what Shelby did. M’Lynn said Shelby did a lot of things, and then Drum announced to everyone that he would be a grandfather. Everyone was excited, except for M’Lynn who walked away knowing the pregnancy was endangering Shelby’s life. The Steel Magnolia gang then gathered around M’Lynn and learned that the doctors recommended that Shelby not have a child, but she went ahead and did it anyway so M’Lynn was very concerned. Since Truvy didn’t have any words of wisdom, she told the girl group to focus on the joy of the situation. Clairee added that what didn’t kill them made them stronger and that helped improve M’Lynn’s mood. Jackson Jr. was born on July 3rd, and everyone celebrated his 1stbirthday by singing that he was a Yankee Doodle boy. Shelby then went with M’Lynn to see Truvy because Shelby wanted her hair cut short so it would be more manageable. At the salon, Clairee told the story of how her nephew Marshall Marmillion broke the news to his parents that he was gay by telling them that he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had three months to live, but then he told them he was kidding and he was just gay (maybe like Clairee because nobody ever talked about her background). Clairee repeated Marshall’s words that all gay men have track lights and were named Mark, Rick or Steve. Clairee went on to say that Nancy Beth was dethroned from her Miss Merry Christmas position after she was found in a motel with a political official and they were both high and smoking everything but their shoes. After Truvy finished chopping off the hair, Shelby was shocked by her new Tinker Bell cut and wasn’t sure if she liked it or not so M’Lynn told her daughter the short hair was pretty. Shelby and M’Lynn decided to get their nails done too. After Annelle left the room, Truvy told everyone that she didn’t like how Annelle prayed so much and her boyfriend Sammy didn’t like the God thing. When the ladies noticed the veins on Shelby’s arms that looked like she had been driving nails up them, she explained that having the baby put a strain on her kidneys and they didn’t work right anymore. To remedy that, Shelby was on temporary dialysis until she got a kidney transplant, and she didn’t have to wait because M’Lynn was giving Shelby one of her own kidneys the following morning. Meanwhile, Annelle was upset to find that Sammy put his beer in her fridge. Sammy took God’s name in vain multiple times in reply, and Annelle scolded him for it and said she didn’t want to be married to someone who wouldn’t go to heaven with her. Sammy stormed off when Annelle started praying because he would rather eat dirt. Later that night, Shelby, M’Lynn, Jackson and Shelby’s brothers played cards and made immature jokes about transplants and organs, which upset Drum and made him leave. The next morning, Truvy drove Annelle to the hospital to drop off a pot of beans to Shelby and M’Lynn that she made. Truvy and Annelle then went to church, and when Ouiser appeared Clairee gossiped about how Ouiser and Owen were secretly hanging out. Clairee added that Ouiser never did anything religious, and Ouiser argued that when she and her friends were kids they would dress up as nuns and go bar-hopping. Ouiser admitted after church that she and Owen were just friends and she was trying to keep him in line because he wanted more. The transplant was successful. As M’Lynn and her female squad threw a wedding shower for Annelle who was getting married to Sammy on Halloween, Shelby suddenly felt ill as she was done her shift at the hospital baby unit. Truvy had champagne delivered to her house to celebrate Spud’s return because he got a job on an offshore oilrig and had been gone the last seven days. At the beauty salon, Clairee wanted to take Ouiser to an art show in New York City, and Ouiser replied that she would write a check for the arts but she didn’t want to see them. She added that she didn’t want to see any movies because they were trash and full of naked people, and she didn’t read books because they would be made into a miniseries. Shelby had planned to take Jack trick-or-treating, but when she tried to pick him up she felt sudden pain. She crawled to the outdoor phone to call Jackson, but she wasn’t able to call him. When Jackson got home, he found Jack on the floor hysterically crying and pointing outside. There was spilled food in the kitchen with the hot stove on and the pot boiling over that Shelby didn’t get a chance to take care of, and then Jackson found Shelby unconscious outside by the phone. He took her to the hospital, where the doctors explained that Shelby’s body rejected M’Lynn’s kidney. M’Lynn never left Shelby’s side at the hospital through her daughter’s now possibly irreversible coma. Because all seemed hopeless, it was decided to take Shelby off life support. M’Lynn tried to hold it all together and help everyone through while making funeral arrangements for Shelby. M’Lynn then went to pick up her grandson who was staying with Aunt Fern. Spud then decided to go to Shelby’s funeral instead of staying home like he did for all the other events. M’Lynn’s girlfriends decided to stay with her after the service because she didn’t want to leave Shelby’s casket. M’Lynn took it out on Annelle, who tried to comfort her by saying Shelby was with her King in heaven and she was on their side as a guardian angel. M’Lynn said that men were supposed to be made out of steel, but all of them left when it was time to turn off the machines which ended Shelby’s life, M’Lynn was the only one there holding her daughter’s hand. She went on to say that she was there for Shelby’s entire life and was happy God made that possible, and then M’Lynn suddenly decided she needed to leave but then she let out all the anger and tears because she realized she would never see Shelby again. M’Lynn told everyone she was fine and could jog all the way to Texas and back, but her daughter couldn’t and then M’Lynn screamed at God wanting to know why it happened to Shelby. M’Lynn pulled herself together and started walking again, and the females followed making certain M’Lynn wouldn’t hurt herself in her tragic emotional moment. M’Lynn said she wanted to hit somebody, so Clairee offered Ouiser up as a punching bagand told Ouiser it was her chance to do something for her fellow man when it was for a woman. That made everyone laugh, except for Ouiser who called Clairee a pig from hell and stormed off. Clairee and Ouiser later made amends, and Ouiser admitted that she prayed and told Annelle she wasn’t going to church or a revival with Bible-beaters doing “God-only-knows what” who would probably make Ouiser eat a live chicken. Annelle was pregnant and asked M’Lynn if it was okay if Annelle and Sammy named the baby Shelby whether it was a boy or a girl, and M’Lynn was happy about it and said yes.Later on, Spud surprised Truvy by opening another beauty salon so now she had a chain. Sammy, still taking the Lord’s name in vain (possibly on church grounds again), was mad that his nine months pregnant wife made him dress up in an Easter bunny costume for the kids at the Easter egg hunt. Clairee told little Jack a story about Shelby, the nice fairy Clairee and the evil, ugly witch Ouiser. Ouiser appeared walking hand in hand with Owen, and she said she hated those stupid neighborhood events and she was there just to be sociable. She told Drum to eat sh** and die when he tried to talk to her, and M’Lynn’s husband continued terrorizing Rhett the Saint Bernard as he always did. Jack slapped Ouiser across the face and went running to M’Lynn (because of the crazy story Clairee told the little one from earlier). Annelle then went into labor, so Truvy and Spud rushed Annelle to the hospital in their International Scout while the Easter bunny Sammy hitched a ride on the back of Louie’s motorcycle. The movie ended and began around Easter, with Easter eggs and Easter bunnies but no Jesus unless they were swearing. This movie had a budget of $15 million and grossed over $96 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, “The ladies are live wires. Just stand back and watch them set off sparks.” Rens VARIETY, “…Steel Magnolias delivers the good laugh and the good cry that today’s movie-goers just can’t seem to resist.” Bruce Williamson, PLAYBOY, “Half a dozen star-caliber scene-stealers compete for attention in Steel Magnolias.” Leonard Maltin, “Slick, solid entertainment. Three stars.” Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, “wonderfully entertaining performances from all of the women.”

TITLE:  The Barbie Diaries

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2006  North America Lionsgate Home Entertainment / Universal Pictures Video / Right Entertainment / Mattel Entertainment Projects / Curious Pictures

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This cartoon movie began with high school juniors Barbie Roberts and her friends Courtney and Tia rehearsing a new song for their band called Charms. Kevin (not Ken) took the girls to see the sunset right before the first day of their sophomore year, and they all made wishes. Barbie wished to anchor the school news channel, Courtney wanted to improve her drumming, Tia wanted to run for class president and Kevin refused to say his wish out loud. On the first day of school, mean girl Raquelle was at it again and took Barbie’s parking spot. The two of them were friends years ago before Raquelle became queen bee, and Barbie had a crush on Raquelle’s boyfriend Todd, a football jock and the most popular guy in school. In this flick, Barbie and her squad were not the popular females at the educational institution. High School Teacher Mr. Wexler picked Raquelle to be the news anchor since she was exciting, fresh and fun and kept everyone entertained by talking about gossip, clothes and makeup. Mr. Wexler offered for Barbie to be Raquelle’s assistant (slave), and Barbie reluctantly agreed because she was too nervous to speak up for herself. Kevin used his video camera to zoom in on students and record cheerleader practice and their conversations from afar and happened to record Raquelle breaking up with Todd because he didn’t want to spend all of his time with his high school sweetheart. Barbie and Todd had an awkward conversation inside the school, which led to them hanging out and giving her a ride home. Todd later came to see Barbie (and not Her Majesty Raquelle who didn’t want to see Todd again) and ask her to football practice and the fall formal as Todd’s date, and of course Barbie said yes. Barbie and her gang then brainstormed and came up with an idea for Barbie to be co-anchor. Barbie then asked Mr. Wexler if she could be Raquelle’s co-anchor, but apparently Raquelle already had one. Barbie and her gal pals went to the mall to shop for dresses, and Raquelle was in the same store and spotted Barbie. Raquelle called Todd, and then he called Barbie and told her the news that he was going to the formal with Raquelle because they were together again. Nasty girl Raquelle then lied to Barbie that she and Todd got back together the previous night and Todd only hung out with Barbie to make Raquelle jealous. Barbie didn’t buy the dress she picked out, and Stephanie the mall store cashier announced that she had once been in the same high school predicament as the girls so they were sisters. Stephanie cheered them up by giving them free charm bracelets, and Barbie’s choice came with a diary that her bracelet unlocked. The next day, Barbie tried to blend in at school because everyone was laughing at her for being dumped by Todd, right before the school dance. Barbie convinced her girlfriends to audition to be the band that would perform at the formal. Barbie then got an idea from Kevin to do an in-depth study about the lives of popular kids in hopes that Mr. Wexler would agree Barbie had the skills to be a school news anchor once he saw the video. Courtney and Tia realized that Kevin had a crush on Barbie, and they promised not to say anything as long as Kevin told Barbie himself when he was ready to. Barbie invented lip gloss disguised as a highlighter so Courtney could apply makeup in class without Mr. Bennett knowing. Reagan and Dawn, Raquelle’s friends, asked Barbie to make them lip gloss highlighters and to hang out with them. Barbie agreed and missed band practice with her so-called real friends. Todd started talking to Barbie, so she thought it meant he was still interested in her. Raquelle forced Todd to go to the formal with her, even though Raquelle really didn’t want to be with Todd and wanted to keep Barbie away from Todd. Barbie started getting romantic notes from a secret admirer in her locker telling her to meet him at different places around school, and both Kevin and Todd were always there. Raquelle was mad that her bff friends were now hanging out with Barbie, so Raquelle was even meaner to Barbie and told Principal Peters that Barbie, Courtney and Tia made the lip gloss highlighters to help students disobey the rules. As a result, Principal Peters put the girls on cafeteria dish duty, which they made entertaining by throwing food at each other. The Charms auditioned and were selected as the band of choice to play at the school dance. Barbie realized that everything she wrote about in her diary that she wanted to happen came true, so she went back to the mall store and told the cashier about the magic diary and bracelet thinking she was Stephanie. However, the cashier that was there wasn’t Stephanie this time and the other clerk at the mall store didn’t know what Barbie was talking about or who Stephanie was. Barbie told Kevin that Reagan was digging for dirt on Raquelle during their interview, so Barbie wanted to make the point in her story that being popular meant talking about your friends behind their backs. Kevin suggested that Barbie learn more and earn Reagan and Dawn’s trust by becoming one of the popular girls. Barbie missed Tia’s class president rally to go out on the popular lawn and tell Reagan and Dawn the news about how she thought Todd was sending her the love notes while he was with Raquelle. Barbie became self-centered and ignored Courtney and Tia so she could hang out with popular Reagan and Dawn as her new friends. Teacher Mr. Wexler liked the clip of the video that Barbie turned in at school and he asked her to anchor the story because it was brilliant. Reagan and Dawn ended their friendship with Barbie when they found out that she was interviewing them to show that most popular kids were back-stabbing snobs. Courtney and Tia were upset when they discovered that Barbie revealed to Reagan and Dawn in the video that Tia numbered her jeans so she wouldn’t wear the same ones twice. Reagan and Dawn twisted the facts and laughed and said that meant Tia didn’t wash her clothes, and the popular girls told everyone. Courtney and Tia confronted Barbie about her behavior, and she said it was all for the high school news channel story and would be over soon. However, Barbie’s old friends didn’t want to hang out with her anymore and announced they were performing at the formal without Barbie. Barbie decided not to do her own story and instead showed the 26 short films that Kevin made that summer. Barbie explained that being popular didn’t matter when you treat the people who care about you like dirt, and she apologized to Courtney and Tia for doing that. They forgave Barbie and agreed to let her play in the band with them. Barbie discovered that her magic bracelet was missing (because Raquelle stole it out of Barbie’s school locker) and didn’t think she could play without it, so Kevin tied a broken guitar string around Barbie’s wrist and said it was magic because it told Barbie and she needed to be herself. Kevin rented a limo for him and the three high school girls, and at the dance Raquelle revealed to Barbie that she stole the bracelet and was going around telling everyone she bought it. When the Charms went up onstage to perform, Tia announced that she did wash her clothes and Barbie told everyone to ignore the juicy bits of gossip they heard about other people. The bracelet caught on Raquelle’s dress and ripped it, and then she spilled punch all over her dress. She stormed out and Todd decided to stay and not leave with Raquelle. Everyone loved the band’s performance, and Tia and Courtney told Kevin to tell Barbie how he felt about her. Before he got the chance, Todd invited Barbie to dance with him. She thanked Todd for the notes, but when Todd said he didn’t write them Barbie realized that it was Kevin who wrote them. Kevin found Barbie’s bracelet on the floor and gave it back to her, and he admitted that he was Barbie’s secret admirer and he wrote the notes because he didn’t want to mess up their friendship with romance. Barbie and Kevin then slow-danced together and Barbie professed her love for Kevin.Barbie believed that the bracelet was indeed magic because it unlocked her diary but also helped her unlock inner selfie.

TITLE:  The Simpsons Movie

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.) How did this devil’s work gross half a billion dollars? It hates on the USA’s One Nation Under GOD with Jesus, and it maliciously depicts police as backwoods dopey super troopers, and it exposes a young boy’s (cartoon) penis for sex offenders, and it uses fake news to steal elections.

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2007  20th Century Fox / Gracie Films

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began with enemies Itchy the mouse and Scratchy the cat going to the moon to make peace, but then Itchy attacked and killed Scratchy. Itchy returned to earth and totally lied about what happened and twisted the truth and used crazy reporters to pull it off with false news headlines that he tried to save Scratchy. Itchy was celebrated as a hero. Itchy ran for the 2008 presidency with Hillary as his VP and they won because Itchy was now the people’s favorite. The president Itchy fired nuclear missiles to the moon to finish Scratchy off by blowing him up. The cat and mouse movie ended in the Springfield movie theater. The Green Day rock band performed later that night, and when they took a break to talk about the environment, the crowd booed and became hostile and threw garbage at the band. Green Day played “Nearer My God to Thee,” on their violins and then their barge sunk like the Titanic (drowning the God music). The next day at the church, the organist played the American Idiot funeral version for the deaths of the band members. The Simpsons family (Homer, his wife Marge and their three children Bart, Lisa and baby Maggie) arrived late, Homer mouthed off about praying to God like hell on his deathbed instead of going to church and he wasn’t concerned about being heard by the churchgoers because they were too busy talking to their phony-baloney God. Homer said, “praise Jebus,” as everyone gave him dirty looks. As Bart played the Baby Blaster video game, Reverend Lovejoy called on the Simpsons’ neighbor Ned Flanders to let the Lord’s light shine upon him. Homer hoped Ned would say he was gay, but Ned announced that they had an immodest sense of pride in their community and the reverend dismissed Ned. Grandpa Abraham Simpson was called upon, and he rolled around on the floor screaming about a terrible doomsday with a twisted tail and EPA. Homer couldn’t find an answer in the Holy Bible to help Grandpa Abe and his gibberish, so Homer rolled Abe outside in a rug and blamed the outburst on a senior moment. Back at the house, Homer completed his to-do list by putting a hornets’ nest in the Flanders’ mailbox, putting baby Maggie in the backyard sinkhole to fix it, and trying to strangle Bart who laughed when Homer hurt himself with the hammer while re-shingling the roof. Homer then dared Bart to climb the TV antenna, and when he did Homer shook the antenna that caused Bart to roll down the roof. Ned warned about Bart becoming paraplegic if he fell off, and Homer and Bart told Ned to shut up. Lisa went from door to door trying to raise awareness about the mercury pollution in Lake Springfield, but everyone shut the doors in her face. Lisa then met Colin who just moved from Ireland, and Lisa instantly crushed on Colin. Abe’s church incident was videoed, and Marge tried to decipher the message. A man came over to borrow Marge’s pregnancy pants, and he said that “EPA” was what the Green Lantern said when Sinestro threw him into a vat of acid. Bart fired BB gun pellets at Homer, and then Homer dared Bart to skateboard to the Krusty Burger restaurant and back completely naked. Bart was worried about the girls seeing his doodle, so Homer threatened to call Bart “chicken for life,” if he didn’t do it. Bart skateboarded through town naked, and one young boy who saw Bart said that he liked men now. As Bart skated, the producers used various objects like birds and fences to cover Bart’s frontal male parts, but when he got to the hedges it showed only Bart’s penis parts dangling as he went through the bush. The police chased boy Bart and shot at him because it was against the law not to wear clothes in public. Bart flipped off his skateboard and went somersaulting through the air over cars in traffic until he landed on the Krusty Burger window where the Flanders family ate. Ned was about to thank the Lord for the bountiful food, but he said bountiful penis and held up a French fry to block it out on Bart and Ned’s two young sons, Todd and Rod, repeated his words and said amen. The officers handcuffed naked Bart around a pole and went to lunch, and everyone who walked by laughed at Bart. When Homer appeared in his pink car, Bart declared that Homer dared him to go out naked. The police told Homer that if Bart’s claim was true, Homer needed to take the rap for it and attend a one-hour parenting class. Homer lied that it was Bart’s idea and his son was out of control, and the police released Bart and said they’d see him in court. Homer only brought Bart a shirt and socks, so Ned let Bart borrow the extra pair of pants that Ned always carried around. Homer then saved a pig from being slaughtered after Krusty the Clown was done using the pig for a burger commercial. Homer brought the pig home, and Marge was worried that Abe’s prophecy about the twisted tail (like the one on the pig) was coming true. Marge scrubbed the floor and then had to clean up Homer’s mess because he held up his pet pig to the ceiling so it could make muddy hoofprints there (joke Abe Lincoln played on his mom). Later that night, Bart sat in a tree and Ned opened the window and asked Bart about fishing with his dad. Bart remembered when he and Homer went fishing and Homer used a bug zapper to kill all the fish. Ned left a gourmet hot chocolate with a toasted marshmallow and everything on the windowsill for Bart. Bart then went fishing with Ned, and when Bart dropped Ned’s good fishing pole in the water he expected to be strangled as his dad would but instead Ned just patted Bart on the back. Krusty used his tanker to dump flop sweat into the lake, a crazy cat lady cleaned her black cats, and another truck dumped empty beer bottles along with a drunk man. At Town Hall, Lisa delivered a speech about the pollution and she lost her train of thought because she was staring at dreamy Colin. Since Lisa knew the people wouldn’t listen, she put dirty lake water in everyone’s drinking glasses and they all spit it out. Mayor Kuimby declared it a state emergency, code black, and built an idiotproof barrier around the lake to prevent anymore dumping. Mayor Kuimby tested the barrier by having Cletus try to dump a dead mouse but he couldn’t. Homer was on the couch watching kissing animal shows and wondering if he should kiss his pig on the lips too until Marge interrupted and wanted to know what Homer was doing with the pig crap. Homer showed Marge the storage silo in the backyard filled with the pig’s droppings, and Marge told him he needed to dispose of the waste. Homer said that he was now calling his pet Harry Plopper (potter) instead of Spider Pig. Homer was going to drop the silo off at the waste center, but when his buddy called to tell him that there was a limited supply of free doughnuts being handed out in town, Homer ignored the signs and broke through the barrier to dump the silo in the lake. A squirrel fell into the contaminated lake and was turned into a hideous monster, and Ned and Bart encountered it when they were hiking. The Environmental Protection Agency took the squirrel away, and Russ Cargill, the head of the EPA, went to the White house to see President Arnold Schwarzenegger about the pollution crisis. The president had elected the inexperienced Cargill to his position because he was wealthy. Cargill wasn’t sure what he wanted to give back to the people, but knew he didn’t want them to have his money. Cargill then explained to the people of Springfield that the government sealed their town, the most polluted city on the planet, inside a dome to prevent further poisoning. Springfield was taken off the map so it could never be found, and Kent Brockman reported the incident on the news and how Springfield was running low on supplies. Kent added that on “The Lighter Side,” the swallows returned to Springfield, where the innocent birds then flew hard into the almost invisible dome and then slid down to dome to be eaten by the cats waiting below. Marge noticed that baby Maggie somehow got out of the dome, but Homer thought Marge she was crazy because baby Maggie was in the backyard when he looked. Kent then announced on TV news that the pig crap silo with Homer’s name on it was found in the lake, and Marge was upset that Homer was responsible. A mob then formed and tried to break down Homer’s door chanting they were going to kill him. The Simpsons tried to escape in their car, but the mob carried the car to a tree where they had put up five nooses planning to hang the family after they set fire to the house. Baby Maggie showed everyone how to jump into the sinkhole and come out on the other side to the dome. It took Homer an extra few seconds to get down the sinkhole because of his size, so the townspeople clawed at his exposed head with fingers and pitchforks as he held up his middle fingers. The sinkhole took down the house as well, and the police said it was China’s problem now. Cargill went mad with power and wanted an army of thousands and death squads to find the Simpsons. Marge tried to hide and thought she was caught by two male police officers, but they ignored her and instead the two male gay police officers sneaked off behind a building to kiss passionately on the lips. The Simpsons stayed in an empty house for the time being, and Marge couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Bart swigging from a whiskey bottle. Marge chased Bart around, but he gulped the rest of the whiskey down and passed out before she could catch him. Homer revealed his backup plan that he had prepared for the day when he would inevitably mess up his family’s lives beyond repair. He wanted to take them all to Alaska for a fresh start where you can’t be too fat or too drunk. Bart said they couldn’t get to Alaska without money, so Homer told Bart to believe in America, where any man could make quick money with no questions asked because there were no English signs and the only signs shown were written in Asian or Spanish. Homer rode a motorcycle around the Ball of Death and won a truck to get to their destination. Springfield suffered huge power outages, and they tried to ask Monty Burns for his electricity so the police could fry a criminal and the hospital wouldn’t lose lives when the generator went out, but Monty refused to share. When the Simpsons arrived in Alaska, the border officer gave them $1,000 as he did all the residents to allow the oil companies to ravage Alaska’s natural beauty. The Simpsons moved into a log cabin, where a Disney-type orchestra played and the woodland animals came inside to tear Homer and Marge’s clothes apart. All that was left was his underwear and her lingerie, and the woodland animals watched the couple get in bed together. The Springfield citizens were tired of being inside the dome and managed to put a crack in it, and Cargill gave President Schwarzenegger five unknown options to take care of the situation. Cargill told the president to pick a random one but forced him to pick number four that Cargill knew was blowing up Springfield. Tom Hanks announced on a TV commercial that the U.S. government lost its credibility and was borrowing some of Tom’s credibility. He told them that the new Grand Canyon would be Springfield once it was destroyed, and everyone should pick that government to trust if no other. Marge was shocked and wanted to go back to Springfield, but Homer refused and said to screw Springfield. Homer strangled Bart for saying he wished Ned was his dad, and then Homer stormed out. When he returned, he discovered that Marge left a tape for him in which she said she was returning to Springfield with the kids. To prove to herself that it was the end, she taped that video over her wedding video. Homer went outside to search for them, and he was almost eaten by a polar bear but an Inuit saved him. Homer was brought to the female Inuit’s hut, and she helped him have an epiphany and realize that he needed to save Springfield in order to save himself. Homer thanked the boob lady and rushed out on a sled pulled by huskies, and he kept them moving day and night by beating them with a whip. When the dogs had enough, they tried to tear Homer to shreds and ran off in the middle of a blizzard. Marge was headed to Seattle to tell everybody that Springfield would be destroyed. The robot train conductor overheard the conversation and reported Marge’s plans back to the government. When Marge and the kids arrived in Springfield, they were taken hostage at gunpoint by the EPA and put in the back of a truck with gas to knock them out. They woke up back inside the dome in the ruins of Springfield, where Moe Szyslak announced that he was the emperor of the town. Cargill made an announcement that they were undergoing Operation Soaring Eagle, in which a bomb was lowered into the city through a hole in the top of the dome and it would detonate in fifteen minutes and kill everyone. Homer made it to Springfield, where he knocked out the guard by dressing up as General Marriott Suites. Homer then put super glue on his hands to climb up the top of the dome, and he grabbed his cojones and almost couldn’t detach his gluey hand from the front of his pants. He tried to climb down the rope that was holding the bomb, but he knocked down all the people trying to get out and they were mad and went after Homer. Bart went to the church, which featured a “We told you so,” sign outside. Ned told his sons that when they died and met Jesus, they should called Him “Mr. Christ.” One son asked if Buddha would be in heaven, and Ned was irritated by the question and said no. Bart told Ned that he wished he had a dad who cared for him, so Ned hugged Bart. The police tried to use a robot to turn off the bomb, but the robot couldn’t handle it and shot itself in the head. One police officer wished he took the robot seriously when he had hinted at suicide a while ago. A young boy used a two-by-four to beat up the older kids who always bullied him. Homer convinced Bart to ride with him on a motorcycle to the top of the dome (like in the Ball of Death) and throw the bomb through the hole. Their mission was successful and the bomb exploded outside the dome and shattered it. Harvard Business School graduate Cargill wielding a shotgun then confronted Homer and Bart. Bart told Cargill that he if he killed Homer he would never know where the treasure of Ima Wiener was. Cargill wasn’t amused and cocked his gun, but before he could shoot Maggie dropped a rock on his head. Everyone cheered for Homer and Bart, Homer and Marge drove off on a motorcycle kissing, and the citizens of Springfield worked together to rebuild their demolished town. This movie had a budget of $70 million budget and grossed over $536 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, A.O Scott, The New York Times, “I’d be willing to watch it…20 or 30 more times.” Per Wiki, the film premiered in Springfield, Vermont on 7/21/07 and was released theatrically six days later on 7/27/07 by 20th Century Fox across the US.

REASON: This movie began with businessman Franklin Hobbes dying in the back of a limo from a medical emergency after he left his wife Ester a few messages on the answering machine as he always did reciting poetry. Mr. Hobbes had just minutes before finished signing off on another questionable investment (several failed previously) that his attorney, Jon, convinced Franklin to sign inside at a high rise big city business office inside the conference room. There were other high power executives who witnessed the signature and seemed to have wanted that document signed immediately, like Jon. After the funeral, Jon, the lawyer, then informed Ester that Franklin made several bad investments, so Ester had no funds or source of income and would have to liquidate the extremely large estate and sell off all her assets to pay off all of her husband’s debts. Jon went on to say that Franklin put a Jackson, Georgia boardinghouse in Ester’s name, and she would have to live there until she could sell that house and use the money from the sale to get back on her feet and the current tenants vacated the premises. Basically, Franklin’s business associates seized everything in Franklin’s name and claimed Franklin made poor investments and had supposedly “legal” paperwork on file to back up their story. Since middle aged Ester couldn’t stay with any of her family members or friends because they didn’t want her in their lives anymore (happy to share life with Ester when she was wealthy and had parties), she agreed to move to Georgia if Jon put the house on the market that night. Ester arrived at the dumpy, ramshackle house, and learned that it housed Tony and Ramona and their five foster children, Justin, Teri, Crystal, Jasmine and Max (both nine years old and Jasmine was mute). Little Crystal told Ester that her addict birth mother named her after the drug, and she was worried that Ester was there to take her away because the CPS workers usually brought Crystal dolls when they came. Ester explained that the three dolls, named Lilac, Olivia and Violet, were gifts from her deceased husband Franklin when they got married. Crystal then pointed out that the names of the dolls and Ester’s name spelled LOVE. Ramona didn’t want Ester there to interfere with their lives and wanted Ester to go back where she come from, and Ester argued that she had nowhere to go and was just as much an orphan as the kids. Ester said her engagement ring was her only item of real value and it was decades old and worth around $600 now. Justin and Teri, the two oldest kids, were delinquents who were disrespectful during grace at the dinner table and then Justin licked the top of the ketchup bottle before putting it back for others to use. Ramona’s husband Tony belched at the table and told the kids they could say whatever they wanted about the middle-aged woman upstairs but to leave the two little girls (Crystal and Jasmine) alone. Tony then took both young girls to get ice cream, excused Justin and Teri and left Ramona to clean up the dinner mess. Outside, female teen Teri showed male teen Justin the illegal pills that her girlfriend Monica gave her to help her study. Teri claimed that she didn’t take them even though she had a history of doing so, and she asked Justin to stash the narcotic pills in the foster home for a few days before she gave them back to Monica so Teri could resist the temptation and make sure she was over her addiction. Young Max, who was anorexic and hypertensive, lived with the foster family whenever the irresponsible child endangerment Stephanie (not a mom at all) wasn’t with the young boy. When Stephanie brought Max home one time, Stephanie told him to stop crying like a baby and told Ramona to give Max’s medication to him because Stephanie was too busy getting her hair done during the time she was on a unsupervised visit with Max to remember to give Max the medication he needed. Ramona later explained to Ester that Max came to their foster home with a small brown paper bag, a ratty old toothbrush that looked like he had for half his life, a bottle of pills for his hypertension, four baseball cards, impetigo on his lip and scabies in his hair. Ester said the only child she and Franklin ever had was Samuel Alan, a tubal who died. When Tony got home from working 14 hours a day at his job, Ramona told him to give Ester a chance and show her compassion. The neighbor lady wandering around the foster mom property told Ester that the house used to be an old fire station, the first ever in the area, where the neighbor’s grandfather used to work, and the sooner Ester and the children were gone the better. Ester cried and had trouble sleeping, so she prayed to God for help. The next morning, Ester wanted to help Ramona out so she offered to cook meals for the family since she attended the actual Cordon Bleu culinary school. Ramona told Ester it was rough days because the foster mom had to take care of everyone with so many different challenges that required enormous amounts of attention individually, and she asked Ester to drop Justin off at the meeting with his probation officer since he was a juvie and already had a criminal record. Meanwhile, Teri snooped in Ester’s room and found a book that belonged to Franklin that he read to Ester and contained poetry that he left on Ester’s voicemails. Teri tearfully read a part about child abandonment tore out the page and threw it on the floor and stole many pieces of Ester’s jewelry to pawn for her drug habit. Justin was in a hurry to leave because he overslept again and was being called downstairs to go to his probation meeting, so the teen boy took foster sister Teri’s pills out of his jacket pocket and quickly stashed them somewhere. Crystal and Jasmine were waiting outside for the school bus, and Ester brought them their sweaters and together they made shapes out of the clouds. During Justin’s appointment at the probation office, Ester snooped through Justin’s file that was left out on the counter after the officer walked away with to meet with Justin alone. Once back at the foster home, Justin rudely asked Ester to watch Max, since Teri didn’t want the job any more and no foster mom and dad were around. Ester returned Jon’s call and told him to wait before selling the house because she was reconsidering. Jon argued that he couldn’t because they already opened escrow. Justin was outside skateboarding, and he fell and scraped his leg badly so Ester hung up to go take care of it. When Jon called back, Max told him that Ester was bandaging Justin’s leg and he was all bloody in the kitchen. Ester said that she would keep the shirt she was wearing because it was stained with the blood of a hero. She explained that she saw Justin’s name in his file and remembered it from a newspaper article where he went into a wrecked car to save his dad, who died a year later of cancer but Ester insisted that Justin’s dad was proud of him. Ester found the torn page in her room, and she couldn’t believe that the kids were so damaged they would do something like that. Ramona replied that one of the kids had a belt buckle scar on a ribcage and had been through a lot more than Ester. Ester revealed that she was going to try and stop the sale of the house and then figure things out from there. Ester asked God to inspire the buyer, Mr. White, and help him realize that releasing the house from escrow was the right thing to do to help the family. However the buyer, Mr. White refused to back out on the deal because he wanted to tear the house down and build 15 condos in its place. Ramona encouraged Ester by telling her not to count God out yet because HIS ways were not theirs. Jasmine came of a room where the three youngest were playing to get help because Max collapsed when the kids were playing. Max said he felt dizzy and his heart hurt, so they took Max to the hospital where the doctor explained that Max had an idiopathic (cause unknown) seizure and the doctor would have to report it to Social Services because she found amphetamines in Max’s system (Teri’s drug pills that Justin hid in Max’s prescription bottle) that had been there for a few days and stressed his heart. Outside the hospital, Teri confessed to her foster parents that Monica gave her the pills but she didn’t take them, only after Justin defended himself that he got the illegal pills from his teen foster sister and tried to do her a favor and hide the narcotics. Tony and Ramona told Teri to never see Monica again. Justin admitted that he had planned to put the pills somewhere else but he forgot about them. Tony and Ramona later discussed how it was a miracle that Justin and Teri fessed up to what they did wrong for once (and it took almost killing their younger foster sibling for them to tell the truth.) Tony quoted the Bible to never despise the day of small beginnings. When Ester found her jewelry stolen, she chose to ask Justin what might have happened to it (knowing the teen boy didn’t take it but female Teri) and where it might have gone, and he said it was probably at Jackson Pawn in town. When the neighbor lady came back around again on the foster property, she told Ester that the firehouse had been there since the Civil War. Ester realized she could save the house because it was a historical monument. She went to the Hall of Records and confirmed that her house was a firehouse, and then she told the pawnshop owner that the jewelry Teri dropped off was stolen from her. Ester didn’t report it stolen to the police but knew the value and made the pawn buyer give her more items for the merchandise he bought such as mismatched china sets that Ester gave to the foster family as a gift since they had none. Ester let Jasmine pick out her own special teacup and told Jasmine, who still remained silent and wasn’t talking, that she had a plan to save the house. Ester got back also her butterfly hair clip from the pawn shop and gave it to Teri to keep, and Ester explained that it was over 100 years old and her grandmother gave it her as she was dying to make her granddaughter less sad. Ester met with the local small town family and single judge Washington hoping he would understand the predicament. Judge Washington explained that goodwill couldn’t change the law and it was Mr. White’s God-given right to evict the foster family from their home, but Mr. White might want to reconsider anyway because Ester would likely file a claim and rally the citizens against Mr. White. He would then be investigated if they were able to prove the house was a historical monument and Mr. White wouldn’t be able to do anything with the property. Mr. White stormed out, and then Ester asked another favor of the judge. Judge Washington talked to Social Services and it was agreed that Justin’s parole would be extended another six months, he and Teri would attend drug counseling and prevention, and Social Services would keep their eye on the family. Judge Washington added that Social Services contacted Stephanie about young Max, but Stephanie declined to take Max back because she didn’t want to take care of him and having him around was too much for her junkie lifestyle (How many years did that go on in the young child of GOD’s life in that failed foster system and why weren’t parental rights terminated so he could be adopted sooner as the lawful people in Max’s everyday life knew that Stephanie was mentally unfit to parent and repeatedly mistreated the boy to the point it caused irreversible (mental/physical) injury to the child and  showed little love for Max based on the majority of her actions altogether. Not to mention that Max clearly had no other so-called blood relatives in the picture that wanted to help or and take him into their own homes to raise?) Judge Washington said if the family took good care of Max, the judge would write a letter of recommendation on the family’s behalf so Max could stay with them and not be put back into the system with new foster parents. Ester told Ramona and Tony that she would keep renting them that house while she worked on getting other foster homes (one set house parents) established because that was her calling. Ester gave Crystal and Jasmine her dolls to keep, and Crystal used the doll to rehearse her manners. Ester taught the foster kids how to use the new china in preparation for the formal tea party they would put on for the townspeople and investors that Judge Washington called up to get charity money from to establish the many group foster homes. It was at the tea party that Jasmine spoke words for the first time. Ester turned the firehouse into Mrs. Hobbes’ house, and fifteen years later she was married to Judge Washington and there were five other Mrs. Hobbes’ houses for foster children (one set of foster parents with multiple foster children housed together) in the small area. (All named Mrs. Hobbes not Mrs. Washington houses). Ramona and Tony each wrote a short haiku for Ester for her birthday, and the now adult original five foster children came back to visit bearing gifts for Ester’s birthday party.

TITLE:  Mr. Saint Nick

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2002  Sonar Entertainment / ABC Network

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie (filmed in Canada) began in the North Pole, where King Nicholas XX (Santa Claus) and his wife Queen Carlotta (Mrs. Claus) gathered for the crowning ceremony of their son, Prince Nick St. Nicholas von Claus XXI, to be the next Santa because it was the 12th month of the 100thyear and time for the XX to retire. Nick was a no-show because he was partying with weather girl Heidi Gardelle at Nick’s mansion in Miami Beach, so Santa transported Nick to the North Pole and scolded him for not having a queen yet, wanting nothing to do with the Christmas operation and trying to change tradition with his new ideas. Santa was worried that Nick didn’t feel the magic of Christmas and wasn’t ready to be the next Santa, and Nick was fine with that and returned to Miami. Both Heidi and Nick had dads with high expectations because Heidi’s wanted her to be a newscaster like Connie Chung and Nick’s wanted him to take over the family business but he refused to listen to Nick’s ideas. Mrs. Sarathi quit because Nick and his butler Jasper didn’t like her Indian cooking. Jasper went to the employment office, where Lorena, a recently immigrated Venezuelan with a degree in hotel management, was trying to extend her visa and find a job other than a maidso she could take care of her aunt Sophia and nephew Danny. Jasper offered Lorena the position of cook and party planner for Nick (most eligible bachelor in the city), and she agreed. Nick wanted to have Lorena fired when he met her in person because she was the driver who honked at him when his eyes were off the road driving and his car swerved into Lorena’s lane. Jasper protested because Lorena was highly qualified for his job and wouldn’t allow it. Heidi and Hector Villarba, a PR employee, came up with the idea that Nick should start an online Christmas charity called mrstnick.com where people could either donate unwanted items to people (kids and adults) as gifts or donate money so the charity could buy people gifts. Nick was nervous about doing the commercial dressed up like Santa, so Heidi wore her sexy Mrs. Claus costume and helped Nick. Several kids posed in the commercial, and the producer sent away the boy pretending to be crippled in a wheelchair because it was bad for the image. Meanwhile, Queen Carlotta realized something was wrong because the northern lights disappeared, Santa’s suit didn’t fit anymore, and he couldn’t make toys or remember which children were naughty or nice. King Santa was also losing his powers and they were going to Prince Nick, which caused the imposter suit Nick was wearing for the commercial to tighten on him. Nick also couldn’t get the Santa suit off, and Jasper told Nick that the forces in the world that were bigger than Nick’s dad wanted Nick to be Santa. At a party that night, Nick and Heidi’s kissing was interrupted by the arrival of INS agent Nardo who claimed that Lorena and another employee were illegal aliens. Nick gave the officer the papers proving the employees were legally working for him, so Nardo left and Lorena promised to renew her visa afterward. Nick and Heidi slept the night together, and the next morning Nick told Jasper he was convinced that Heidi should be his Mrs. Princess Claus. However, as it turned out Nick was being played, Heidi and Hector were lovers and scam artists and created the charity so they could steal from it. Nick wasn’t sure how he should propose to Heidi, and he wanted to practice on Jasper but Lorena pretended to be Heidi instead. Jasper later noticed that Lorena seemed envious of Heidi and her eyes lit up during the fake practiced proposal. Lorena denied being in love with Nick and said that she had seen more fabric on a potholder than Heidi’s dress and Lorena didn’t get a good vibe from Heidi. Just as Nick was proposing to Heidi, he was transported to the North Pole where Queen Carlotta told Nick that his website was vulgar and his costume and message a mockery of their traditions. Nick protested and added that he never got to spend Christmas with his dad before he returned to Miami. Heidi quickly accepted Nick’s proposal when she saw the huge diamond ring. Queen Carlotta called Mimir the wizard to consult the runes about the situation, and Mimir announced that Nick was turning away from Christmas and King Santa didn’t want to retire but he needed to. Nick took Heidi on a date at the beach and told her he wanted to have the wedding on Christmas Eve because he didn’t have any plans to be Santa. Nick started laughing uncontrollably and merrily like Santa, and the northern lights appeared. Since King Santa no longer had the power to zap Nick to the North Pole, King Santa called Nick but he never wanted to talk to his dad again. Nick told Heidi that his dad was Santa Claus and the family business was Christmas, and Heidi thought Nick was nuts. Hector told Heidi to go through with the wedding because she would get Nick’s fortune if her new husband, Nick, were proven crazy. Heidi wanted all the attention to be on her during the wedding practice rehearsal because she would be wearing Vera Wang, but Lorena thought Heidi was being ridiculous. Heidi told Nick that she wouldn’t marry him unless he fired Lorena, but Lorena quit first. Nick went to Lorena’s house, where Aunt Sophia asked Nick if Heidi could cook or was interested in having children because Lorena was. Nick begged Lorena to come back and work for him, but she was skeptical. Nick offered for the kids band, led by Lorena’s nephew Danny, that Sophia taught to be on Nick’s next charity commercial, and they were excited. Agent Nardo reported that Nick was shifty because he was embezzling the money out of his charity into an offshore account in the Cayman Islands. King Santa could no longer fly the sleigh and didn’t want to go see Nick, but Queen Carlotta insisted that she was going and she took an airplane to Miami. After the commercial, Nick heard the voices of the children in his head asking for their Christmas wishes, and everyone thought Nick was crazy because they didn’t hear anything. Nick went into the bathroom to calm down, and Hector followed to check on Nick. Agent Nardo and the police then appeared and arrested Nick for embezzlement. Nick protested that he was innocent, and Agent Nardo said that the Cayman account had Nick’s name on it so Nick realized that Hector framed him. Her Majesty Carlotta arrived and told Jasper that Nick needed to take his dad’s place because he now had all of King Santa’s powers. Sophia reassured Lorena that everything would be okay, but Lorena said she hated men and Danny didn’t think Nick did anything wrong because he was a giving person. Nick was thrown in jail with a couple of scary dudes, one of whom said he got punished for his good deed of giving a free drug sample to someone who turned out to be a police officer. The inmate listened to Nick’s story and concluded that Heidi was in on it with Hector. Jasper told Nick the news, and when Nick informed Lorena that he was Santa she told him he was kind and generous so she believed him. Nick then used his powers to zap himself out of jail, and the police chased the getaway car. During the chase it started snowing (the snow from the North Pole), and when Nick got stuck in a traffic jam he turned the car into a sleigh and flew them out of there. Nick went to the airport and confronted Heidi, who was headed to the Caymans with Hector and the $5 million they stole from the charity. Heidi stormed off, and King Santa (who eventually decided to come to Miami) and Nick agreed Heidi was naughty. Heidi and Hector’s flight was delayed by the snowstorm. King Santa was worried about retirement, and Nick reassured him that he would always be dad. Nick promised to be the best King Santa he could and made a heartfelt proposal to Lorena. She agreed to marry Nick and be his queen. The dopey Agent Nardo appeared and ordered Nick to drop the torch weapon he was brandishing that Santa just passed on to him. Nick zapped Nardo onto Heidi and Hector’s plane, where they were tied up with ribbons. Nick transported everyone to the North Pole just as the police arrived at the house, and Mimir proclaimed Nick as the new King Santa Claus. Nick then looked the part and brought his soon to be queen Lorena and Danny with him to deliver the Christmas presents.

TITLE:  Hanna

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2011 Universal Pictures / Focus Features/ Holleran Company / Babelesberg Studio / Sony Pictures Releasing International

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with teenager (looked under 15) Hanna Heller in the frigid wilds of Finland hunting a reindeer with her bow and arrow. Hanna said, “I just missed your heart,” so she then she finished the animal off with her gun.As she gutted her kill, her dad, Erik Heller, snuck up on her and told her she was dead because he could have killed her easily. Hanna then attacked Erik with her knife and then they fought vicious hand-to-hand soldier combat until Erik got the better of Hanna and told her to drag the deer home to their cabin by herself. Erik taught Hanna multiple languages at home in their remote cabin and he read the encyclopedia to her often. Teen Hanna wanted to hear music and experience things by herself in the world and believed she no longer needed parenting. Later in her bed, Hanna took out her Grimms Fairytale book and looked at a photo booth picture of young teen Johanna (birth mom) with blue colored hair. Erik continued Hanna’s daily hardcore training to be an assassin, and she rehearsed the lies she would tell strangers in the outside world about her fake self that Erik created for her including addresses, schools, friends and pets. Erik tested Hanna that night by holding a gun to her head while she slept, and Hanna woke up and defended herself, and got the better of Erik and proved that she was ready to go on her first solo mission. The next morning, Erik retrieved a device he had buried on the property and showed it to Hanna that would enable Marissa Wiegler to find them once the switch was flipped, and Hanna needed to decide if she was really ready because there was no going back after she flipped it because wicked Marissa wouldn’t stop until Hanna was dead. Erik said he wouldn’t be there to help Hanna out of her deadly situations either. When Erik went out to hunt, Hanna told him she would stay behind. While Erik was away from the cabin, Hanna flipped the switch and Marissa was alerted to her whereabouts. It was not long after that a male CIA agent told Agent Marissa, Erik’s handler, that they picked up one of their unencrypted signals from Erik near Kuusamo. Marissa muttered f**k to Erik for doing this to her no doubt because it would affect her career and her chance of further promotion in a very negative way. Marissa believably explained to her male CIA counterparts (convinced them with her lies the concocted story she created) that Erik was recruited in 1991 as a former FSK operative in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and his file ended in 1994 and there was no sign of life until 1996 until Erik’s fingerprints were found on a Luger gun beside the body of Johanna Zadeck. Johanna was a German born in 1970, and Erik had trained Johanna but never recruited her. Erik was a rogue asset so Marissa wanted to pull him out, but Marissa’s team wanted Interpol to pick Erik up because the CIA had bigger problems. Marissa disagreed because Interpol would expose Eric to BND, FSB, France. Hanna later cut Erik’s longer hair for him to fit in public places and he was clean shaven and now in his business suit he left the forest to walk alone to his daughter and his secret meeting place in Germany. Hanna repeated Erik’s phrase the taught her to “adapt or die,“ before Erik walked away. That night, a helicopter appeared and dozens of CIA SWAT with white-masks called Sky Guard surrounded the heavily remote and wooded cabin. The CIA USA soldiers sent two men inside and Hanna took them out. The CIA Sky Guard leader reported that Erik escaped, two of their men were down and they captured Hanna who Marissa was very interested in seeing. After a bizarre encounter and questioning by creepy psych Dr. Burton in a holding room filled with cameras (Marissa and other CIA members watched the live footage remotely), Hanna told Dr. Burton she wanted to speak to Marissa Wiegler who instantly agreed to be there that night on a flight (to clean up the criminal mess she made years ago when she went CIA rogue). The scientists at the CIA hideout underground facility outside the USA on foreign soil ran Hanna’s blood and hair sample and thought she was contaminated. A few hours later, a Marissa imposter was sent in to speak to Hanna alone because the real Marissa knew the dangers that went with Hanna’s past and didn’t want to conduct the interview with her human CIA science experiment child to do it in person. Marissa told the impersonator agent who was wired instead what to say in response to Hanna’s questions as they sat inside the room together alone, such as where she met Erik in Germany. Teen Hanna created a dramatic scene and broke down in hysterical tears and straddled and hugged the imposter Marissa who was told to abort her mission and get away from Hanna immediately, but it was too late because Hanna broke the fake Marissa agent’s neck. When the military officers came into the room, Hanna shot them dead and then Hanna shot out the cameras. Marissa couldn’t believe Erik was so successful and trained young Hanna to be such an amazing killer. Hanna escaped into the lab through the ventilation system where she held a technician at gunpoint and made him get in the locker as he prayed to God to help. Hanna took her CIA medical record with her name Hanna Heller printed on it, climbed through the tunnels to escape more soldiers, and then climbed out through a manhole into rocky and barren desert terrain. Several military vehicles drove past, so Hanna grabbed the undercarriage of one until she decided she traveled far enough away and then let go and found a place to hide until the USA government vehicles got out of sight. In her CIA office, Marissa went into her safe filled with Queen Elizabeth currency and USA Benjamins and ignored the money and instead took out the Galinka file and burned the incriminating file full of top secret science experiment information on human babies that listed names of those used in the experiment as well as those involved in the rogue CIA human science project (doctors with medical staffers, government agents and staff members, birth moms and families, etc.). Marissa then had her OWN flashback of Erik driving with Johanna and toddler Hanna as Marissa hid behind a billboard waiting for the car to come into sight on way to camping trip. Marissa stood in the middle of the road and shot at the vehicle and caused it to crash and go up in flames. Johanna lay dying in the field while Erik ran away into the woods carrying Hanna. Dying Johanna told evil Marissa that Hanna would never be hers. Marissa shot Johanna dead and then framed Erik for Johanna’s death when she made her fake report to her CIA bosses. Back in real time, Hanna walked through the desert southeast of Essaouira and met up with British teenager Sophie (looked 15 years old) and her younger brother Miles (looked 9 years old). Miles took Hanna’s picture. Hanna said her real name and all the fake information she memorized, and Sophie asked Hanna if she wanted a ride but Hanna said she preferred to walk. Meanwhile, Marissa told the CIA to focus only on Erik because Hanna was not an immediate threat to the USA but Erik was. Hanna stumbled across an Arabic campsite and stole some clothes, and then she walked on and came across a town filled with camels. British Miles and his family were there too and he took another picture of Hanna dressed in her new clothes without her knowing it. Hanna went to the Villa Rubaiyat where she learned that she was in Morocco. Hanna spouted out facts she knew about the area including the Arabic language and Islamic religion. The hotel owner was surprised that Hanna spoke Arabic, and she asked him for a room even though she had no money to pay. The man gave her a room with a cot and she was fascinated by seeing how the lights worked because she grew up primitive in the small cabin without electricity. The Islamic hotelkeeper added that they also had an electrical kettle because the English who visited liked their tea. Hanna then became hooked on the TV and heard music, and she told the hotelkeeper she came from the forest. Hanna freaked because there she burned her finger on the hot teakettle, the phone rang, there were helicopters and gunshots on TV that she couldn’t turn off and then she encountered a shower for the first time when she fell into it and accidentally turned it on. Hanna ran out the door where Sophie and Miles recognized her, and Brit teen Sophie asked if kraut was an ethnic slur like queer or lesbo. Sophie added that she thought she might like to be a lesbian, but one who was a more of a supermodel and not fat female and they would only hold hands and then Sophie would probably marry a man afterward. Of course, Hanna had no idea what the British girl was going on about dating women. At that moment, Marissa made a stop abroad via taxi and went inside the Safari bar where she knew she would find the hired guns she needed from past experiences that would do anything for the right price. She sat next to a man named Isaacs who said the performer onstage had both male and female genitals and was his current love interest. Marissa informed gay Isaacs that Erik was alive and told Isaacs she needed his rough rider “talents” and for him to do things the CIA agency wouldn’t let Marissa do her way (illegally). Marissa gave the man an envelope filled with the details and paid him with CIA blood money, and she told him she would worry about Erik and instructed Isaacs to go after Hanna in Morocco. Marissa told Isaacs to just find Hanna and not kill her, and Marissa added that Erik’s assassin daughter turned out better than Marissa hoped. Hanna had dinner with Sophie and Miles and their parents, Rachel and Sebastian. Rachel, connected with Cambridge, had a lot of independence when she was younger and bed hopped around Greece, according to her Brit husband. Hanna gave up her life story and told them her mom died of three bullets (and said nothing about the car accident injuries. Hanna later read her Hanna Heller medical report, which stated that her results were abnormal. Isaacs and another goon tied up and tortured the Morocco hotel manager to make him reveal that Hanna was going on the ferry to Spain. The off the books CIA hit men then used the security cameras in the hotel to figure out that Hanna was traveling with the British family in their camper. Then Isaacs killed the Moroccan man with his work pen by stabbing the hotel owner in the neck with it. Marissa’s goons missed the ferry, so they had a motorcycle assassin already in place on a bridge on the other side of the pond once the ferry docked to follow the Brit camper with Hanna stowing away on board to Osborne. As the family drove, they danced and sang to the radio. Miles spotted Hanna in the back stowing away and signaled for her to be quiet and he wouldn’t tell. Erik came out of the water and killed two innocent policemen who had witnessed Erik’s entry into their country and had tried to question Erik. After it got in the news, CIA agent Lewis told Marissa he was reporting her team because they couldn’t keep it quiet any longer and it would only get worse if they kept the info they had hidden because it would eventually come out later and the out of USA police deaths would be connected to the USA CIA. Marissa told Lewis that she was the first and last person Erik would see and they needed to regain control. Hanna mailed a postcard to Erik in Denmark saying the witch was dead because she thought she killed Marissa in the room at the underground CIA facility and didn’t know that the agent person she murdered was an imposter Marissa. Hanna left the camper when the Miles helped her escape everyone and she ended up getting a drink from the pool water. Sophie popped up out of the pool water as she was swimming there alone and making plans with boys she just met and told Hanna that she would hide Hanna on the one condition that they hooked up with the Spanish boys that night. Hanna agreed. The foursome rode by motorcycles to a large Spanish outdoor shindig.  At the party with many strangers including adults, Hanna was fascinated with the guitar playing, dancing and woman singing as Sophie kissed her Spanish boy date. Afterwards, Hanna’s date tried to kiss her on the lips but when Hanna leaned toward him as though she wanted the kiss too, she instead violently attached the Spanish boy and flipped him over and pinned him to the ground. Sophie called Hanna a mental case and told her to let the older boy go so Hanna did (how the teen girls got back to the camp ground a distance away was anybody’s guess). Isaacs and his band of terrorists searched the campsite, and found Miles alone sleeping outside in his tent so Isaacs told Miles that he was the Sandman and to go back to sleep. Isaacs and his thugs walked off just as Sophie and Hannah came running back giggling and listened to Sophie’s parents going at it like rabbits in the camper van. In Germany, Johanna’s elder mom returned to her home and found Marissa there waiting with a gun. Marissa was listening to a recorded cassette tape from years ago of Johanna telling her mom that she was trying a new American scientific experiment program to make babies stronger in the womb (the reason Hanna was abnormal). Hanna’s grandmother then told Marissa she didn’t know what it was like to have a child of her own and Marissa never would either (because of the life choices Marissa made). Marissa asked for information about Erik and Hanna, and when Marissa got it she shot the elderly mom dead in the back of the head.  Outside in their own tent, the girls tried to go to sleep. Hanna told her new friend Sophie that bad people were after her but Hanna couldn’t give any more information than that because she didn’t want to be put Sophie’s life in danger. Hanna added that was going to meet her dad at the house of Wilhelm Grimm in Berlin, and Sophie gave Hanna a friendship bracelet to remember her by. Hanna then appeared to have kissed Sophie on the lips for the lesbian experience that Sophie spoke about earlier. The next morning, the parents were okay with Hanna tagging along with them to “Lille.” Sebastian told a story about a time Rachel was stoned as Isaacs and his goons followed behind in their SUV. Erik made it to Berlin and was surrounded by several men in an empty subway, and then used his extensive combat skills and took all the CIA men out and got away. Rachel told Hanna that the city stifled Rachel’s creativity and spirituality, and being in the countryside brought her closer to “God”. When Hanna asked about God, Rachel said there was no monotheistic sense and it was the “god within and whatever you believe in, such as Buddha and Krishna.” Hanna noticed they were being followed. In her hotel room, Marissa listened to Johanna’s tapes talking about the baby Johanna was carrying. Erik called Marissa, and she text for Lewis and IT to come and trace the call. Erik, who found out that Marissa killed Johanna’s elderly mom and stole the tapes, knocked on the door and shot CIA Lewis dead who went to the door as Marissa stayed where she was. Eric and Marissa then had a shootout. Rachel got lost and couldn’t read the map, so she pulled over, even though Hanna told her not to while the others slept in the back of the camper. Isaacs’ vehicle did the same. Hanna told Sophie not to follow her no matter what and thanked Sophie for being her friend. Hanna then ran out the back door into the night, and Sophie did follow her and watched Hanna assassinate the hit men so Sophie ran back to the camper. Hanna jumped off the dock to escape. Marissa and her rogue-hired thugs held Sophie and her family hostage and questioned them and Marissa told Sophie to stop crying like a baby and sometimes assassins were children too. Rachel, a great acting memory, repeated every word Hannah told her about her dog and where she lived, and Marissa said those were all lies. Rachel added that Hannah seemed lost and needed mothering. Marissa pulled out a picture of Johanna, Hanna’s biological mom, and lied that Johanna was shot to death by Hanna’s dad on a camping trip fifteen years before. Marissa coaxed little Miles down from his hiding spot by showing him an envelope with pictures of Hanna inside. Marissa convinced Miles that Hanna was in great danger from bad men after her and Marissa wanted to protect Hanna. Miles didn’t want Hanna to get hurt, so he told the CIA agent that Hanna’s destination was Grimm’s house in Berlin (Not certain whatever happened to the Brit family then but it seemed Marissa had most of those she questioned killed in her path to bury what she really did with the corrupt criminal team of questionable people in her gang of criminals with inside power in high places and people and endless cash to bury their murder trail). Hanna made it to Grimm’s house in Germany at an abandoned amusement park. Grimm gave her a note from Erik telling Hanna to meet him at the written address on Tuesday, which was that day. Grimm gave Hanna a passport and ID to add her picture to it and explained that she needed the paperwork to appease everyone else in her travels and get around legally. Grimm then sent Hanna upstairs to hide under the bed away from Marissa and the goons that just showed up. Marissa sat down upstairs on the bed, and Isaacs joined her in the room that she already searched and they discussed how Grimm didn’t know much about Erik except that Hanna thought that Erik was her dad. Marissa and Isaacs laughed evilly about it as though it were not true (Hanna listening underneath the bed). Marissa then got a phone call from Agent Walt and confirmed her name so Hanna learned that it wasn’t the real Marissa that Hanna killed in the CIA holding room. Walt was angry that Lewis was dead in Marissa’s hotel room and Marissa failed to call it in to the department. Walt threatened Marissa’s CIA job. Hanna escaped and made it to a café in town and searched on a computer with free Internet for DNA interference to figure out what happened to her. She learned about human testing on animals, humans and evolution, and then Hanna keyed in Erik’s name and found the news articles where Erik was suspected of killing Johanna. Hanna also found Zadek address and went to her grandmother’s house on Heizinger block not far from there. Hanna broke through the glass to unlock the door after seeing blood on the floor. She saw a picture of Johanna’s photo hanging on the wall with a bullet hole in her forehead and blood from Marissa assassinating Hanna’s elder grandmother. Erik then showed up having come from Grimm’s house and leaving before Marissa or Isaac’s goons saw him. Erik told his daughter Hanna that he was her father because he raised her.  Hanna was upset and wanted to find out the details surrounding her life because what Marissa said made Hanna feel without a place or people in the world. Erik told Hanna the truth that she was born in a research facility in rural Poland, Galinka. The researchers took fertilized embryos and made small changes to improve them by reducing the capacity for fear and pity, increase muscle strength and heighten senses to make the perfect soldier. Erik went on to say that he recruited Johanna at an abortion clinic and 20 other women the same way. CIA Marissa closed the program when Hanna was two years old and the research was disposed of. Erik told his daughter he loved her so she knew she was not without family, but the two then fought like crazed soldiers in deadly hand-to-hand combat. Hanna escaped out the window as Isaacs and the other goons appeared, and Erik told his daughter to run while he ran toward the thugs. Isaacs chased Erik in his car and called him a little piggy until he created car accident sin the street with his reckless driving. Marissa tried to run Erik down with her car. It then turned into a foot chase. Erik badly beat up one of the guys. Isaacs then slugged Erik with a pipe until Erik gave Isaacs a taste of his own medicine and finished him off and killed Isaacs with the pipe in the park around children’s play area. Erik turned around and Marissa shot him dead with her gun wearing her green gloves and green high heels. Marissa then put dead Erik on the merry go round next to the other dead man’s body. Hanna ran back to Grimm’s house, where she found Grimm hanging dead upside down from the ceiling after he had been tortured. Marissa then appeared and searched for Hanna, who pulled the arrow out of Grimms body and ran with is. Marissa chased Hanna around the old amusement park as Hanna gathered other supplies to make a deadly weapon. Marissa walked out of the big bad wolf’s head and tried to tell Hanna she could help her. Hanna told Marissa it was over and said that she didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore so Hanna turned around then and tried to walk away but Marissa told her not to go. Marissa shot Hanna as Hanna slung the arrow at Marissa, and they both went down but then Hannah got up and noticed that Marissa disappeared. Hanna went into the tunnel where she saw a lone buck with big antlers walking around. The tables turned and Hanna hunted Marissa like she did the deer. Marissa had an arrow lodged in her upper abdomen and Hanna had a grazed gunshot wound. Marissa tried to straighten up to shoot the girl with her gun but her high heels slipped and she fell backwards down the rollercoaster tracks. Hanna made her way to the bottom of the hill to Marissa and picked up the gun and told Marissa at the end of the movie like she told the deer at the beginning, “I just missed your heart,” and then Hanna finished the rogue CIA criminal Marissa off and shot her with the gun with a bullet to the head. The movie ended with “Hanna” (no last name) in bold white letters against a bloody red background…just as it started. The movie cover art listed, Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, “A knockout! Like nothing you’ve ever seen!” Scott Mantz, Access Hollywood, “Gripping and riveting!” Justin Chang Variety, “an exuberant chase thriller that pulses with energy!” Karen Durbin, Elle, “exhilarating, audacious and boldly original!” On a 30 million budget, the movie grossed over 65 million at the box office.
