RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with 35-year-old Tripp and his girlfriend Melissa were out on another date. She wanted to be married for decades and still be in love like an elderly couple dining at a table nearby and told her boyfriend so. However, Tripp secretly only wanted sex and nothing else so afterward he took Melissa to his house (deceiving her that it was his own home). As the two were naked in bed and appeared to be having sex, Tripp’s parents, Al and Sue, barged in the room and frightened Melissa. Melissa made a quick exit and put that awfully fake rogue behind her. That was unstable Tripp’s planned routine to end relationships whenever his girlfriends were thinking about serious commitment. Tripp would take her to his parents house where he lived, had sex with the female and then she would leave when she found out that the thirty year man old still lived with his parents. Tripp’s two friends, Philip (Ace), and Demo, that he hung out with a great deal also stayed at home with their parents. Sue and Al’s friends, Bud and Bev Nestor, revealed that their adult son Dougie moved out when he met the right girl (and gave their friends a name of a female, Paula, with her contact info that had a professional business of dating men to get them out of their parents house). Tripp’s parents decided to hire Paula to catch Tripp’s eye at the furniture store and flirt with him, and the two of them sat in recliners, relaxed, and made plans for their first date to go to lunch. Paula thought it went well and informed Tripp’s parents that she could have Tripp out of their house and living on his own by June 15th. She explained that Tripp’s male issues were called, “failure to launch,” so Paula would simulate a romantic relationship with Tripp to boost his self-esteem and get him to move out. Paula planned to hang out with Tripp and bond with him, let Tripp help her through an emotional crisis (fake), and she would meet his friend and then she would let him teach her something. Paula made the point that she never had sex with a client and told Tripp’s parents that they needed to make life more difficult with him by having him do chores. Paula and Tripp went on a date, and then Tripp went mountain biking with his friends in the woods where Tripp was bit by a chipmunk when he tried to feed it. Tripp went to Paula’s apartment to pick her up, and Paula’s alcoholic roommate Katherine (Katherine) screamed at the “goddamn whore mockingbird” constantly chirping outside to shut up and she threatened to kill it. Tripp and Paula ate at a Japanese restaurant, and Paula lied to her client’s relative that she taught special needs kids for a living. Paula’s emotional crisis was at the vet’s office crying fake tears as Gretchen the vet pretended to euthanize her dog, Mr. Fritz (actually anesthetizing a customer’s dog for dental work). Tripp believed it and comforted Paula. Paula met Ace and Demo when they played paintball against the Devil Babies, and Paula used her girlfriend Kit to pull off her scheme by having her show up and pretend to be interested in Tripp. Ace tried to hit on Kit and wanted one of her beers, but she ignored Ace and walked away. Tripp was a boat broker and took Paula sailing on someone else’s boat. As they dined on crab, Tripp said he was waiting for the right time to buy an old wooden boat for himself and then he and Paula kissed. As Paula was convinced that Tripp was about to move out, Tripp told his friends that Paula needed to go because she was trying to get serious. Tripp brought Paula to his house in hopes she would freak out when she met his parents, but she didn’t (because she already knew them and were on their payroll) and once Tripp was outside Sue informed Paula that Tripp brought her home to dump her. Paula said that wasn’t happening, so she had sex with Tripp that night at Tripp’s parents house. She tried to sneak out of the bedroom the next morning, but Sue and Al caught Paula and then realized that they were paying Paula to have sex with their son. Meanwhile, Kit went to the store to buy a big shotgun and one shell, and the salesman thought Kit was suicidal. When Kit revealed that she needed the gun to shoot a mockingbird and she had a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird with her thinking it was a manual on how to do that, the salesman refused to give Kit the gun and informed her that it was a novel and it was illegal to kill a mockingbird because they were federally protected. Kit then learned from Paula that Paula broke her own rule about not having sex with her clients when Kit wanted to know where she spent last night and didn’t come home. Ace spotted Paula meeting with another male client, so Ace confronted Paula at the café and Ace agreed to keep his silence and not tell Tripp (obviously not a friend) if Paula could convince Kit to go on a date with Ace. Kit didn’t want to go out with the geeky computer guy because she liked Demo, but Paula begged her so Kit went outside and caught up with Ace and they went to the aquarium with him to help her roommate out. Kit explained to Ace that Paula became a professional interventionist because she couldn’t fix a guy she liked so Paula decided to fix all the other loser men that needed help. Kit blurted out then that she couldn’t sleep because of the mockingbird chirping outside her window at night, so she and Ace hit it off when he told Kit he had a BB gun. They returned to the apartment to use Ace’s BB gun on the mocking bird. Meanwhile, Tripp and Paula took Tripp’s young nephew, Jeffrey, to a baseball game, where Jeffrey said that his teacher Miss Kramer was a lesbian and had a girlfriend. As they waited for the bird, Ace and Kit kissed on the bed. Ace planned to sting the bird and not kill it, but the mockingbird was knocked to the ground when Ace shot it because Kit pumped the BB gun more than twice knowing that would happen. They brought the mockingbird inside and Ace gave it mouth-to-mouth and CPR, and when it came back to life it bit Ace on the nose and then flew out the door. Ace and Kit resumed making out. Demo then confronted Paula and told her that he knew what she was up to but wouldn’t rat her out and revealed that Jeffrey was the son of Amy, Tripp’s first love who Tripp was engaged to before she died years before. However, Demo had a conscious and didn’t like deception so he told Tripp all about Paula and how she was hired by Tripp’s parents to date him. Tripp then went home and invited Paula to a dinner that he cooked for his parents. Paula nearly choked on her food when Tripp made the point that he liked Paula enough to turn the upstairs floor into a master suite for them to live in so Al and Sue wouldn’t have to pay Paula to be Tripp’s girlfriend anymore. Tripp stormed out, and when Paula followed him he paid her $300 and told her to get the f**k out of his car. Tripp then refused to talk to Paula and return her calls for weeks, and Paula returned to Al and Sue all the money they paid her. Paula added that Tripp was different than her other clients, and Sue stated that it was because Paula was in love with Tripp. Paula moped around and then announced that she was moving back to Colorado to live with her parents until she figured things out, and Kit didn’t think that was the answer and had a heated argument with Paula about it. After Tripp was bit by a lizard and fell off a 40-foot cliff while rock climbing. Ace and Demo told Tripp he was dysfunctional, unlike them. Ace said he bought his mom’s house from her so she would have a place to live in her old age. Demo chose the life of a wanderer. When Tripp returned to his parents house, he discovered that Al converted Tripp’s old bedroom into the Naked Room that Al always wanted. Al exposed his bare butt to the screen (and the rest of him to his son) and said that he and Sue hired Paula because Bud and Bev did and she was able to hook their son Dougie up with an Indian girl and now they lived happily in Seattle. Naked Al wanted to hug it out, but Tripp settled for shaking on it.Tripp and Sue made amends after she explained that she didn’t want Tripp to leave in the first place because she was scared of Al without Tripp around and she wasn’t sure if Al would like her once they started to get to know each other again. Tripp’s parents, friends, Jeffrey and Kit then all met together (intervention) to brainstorm a way to get Tripp and Paula together. Before dropping Paula off at the airport for Colorado, Kit took Paula to Ace’s house. Kit said that she and Ace were waiting for his mom to die so they could move in together. After arriving at Ace’s house, Kit, Ace and Demo locked Paula inside and told her to look in the closet where Tripp was duct taped and tied to a chair. The group watched the footage gathered from the 27 cameras they installed in the room where Paula and Tripp were held hostage. Paula apologized and said she had planned to end the charade when she found out about Amy. Tripp accepted the apology. Tripp wanted to know if the number of people Paula deceived on the job for her private business before him equated to a small amount like a basketball team or a large group like the Chinese. Tripp’s buddies put the live soap opera on the big screen in the café and everyone there watched. Paula admitted that she had real feelings for Tripp and her life was empty and miserable before him, and Tripp chose to spend the rest of his life with Paula. He rolled his chair over to her and they kissed passionately. Days later, Tripp and Paula then went sailing on their new boat, the Miss Paula, and when Tripp fell in the water the dolphin that bit him earlier when he was with his friends appeared. Paula was going to rescue Tripp out of the water, but there was no need because this time the dolphin was friendly. This movie had a budget of $50 million and grossed over $130 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Gene Shalit, TODAY, “…a bright and breezy romantic comedy.” Stephen Holden, THE NEW YORK TIMES, “McConaughey and Parker are well matched…the movie is witty and romantically charged.”

TITLE:  Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for God’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2012 Universal Pictures / Universal Studios Hollywood / Illumination Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie takes place in the town of Thneedville, where trees were made in factories, nobody cared that the chemicals were in their swimming water and zillionaire Aloysius O’Hare sold them their air. A young 12-year-old Ted Wiggins had a crush on an older high school female named Audrey and was always trying to impress her. Audrey painted a picture of real trees and told Ted that if a guy got her a real tree for her backyard, she would marry him on the spot. Ted’s grandmother Norma told him he needed to go outside of town to find The Once-Ler, who could tell Ted where to find a real tree. O’Hare’s employees suggested they increase their profits by selling air in a bottle because people would buy anything in a bottle and the smog from the plastic bottle factory would pollute the air even more and force people to buy O’Hare Air. Ted left town and found The Once-Ler, a hermit who hid away in his house and was mad that Ted ignored the keep-out signs and intruded. Ted begged The Once-Ler to tell him about trees, so he told the story of how he left home when he was a young man to travel the globe and find the perfect material to use for his Thneed invention which had a million uses and could change the world. When The Once-Ler came across a forest of Truffula trees, he decided to chop one down so he could knit his Thneed. However, by doing so The Once-Ler awakened the Lorax, the guardian of the forest. He and the animals mourned the loss of the tree, and then the Lorax scolded The Once-Ler and warned him that he would be cursed if he didn’t leave that night. The Once-Ler told Ted to come back tomorrow to hear the rest of the story. At home, Ted’s mom, Mrs. Wiggins, told everyone it was family time but decided to change it to personal time in her room after Grammy took too long to play a board game. Ted left the house to hear the rest of the story. O’Hare confronted Ted because O’Hare saw on the hidden security cameras that he had set up all over town that Ted was leaving town. O’Hare threatened Ted for caring about the trees because that jeopardized O’Hare Air. Back in the story, the Lorax put The Once-Ler’s bed in the river while he was sleeping to get rid of him. The Lorax then rescued The Once-Ler from going over a waterfall only because he realized that a young animal named Pipsqueak stowed away on the bed and couldn’t swim. The Once-Ler woke up in bed with the Lorax the next morning, and the other animals had taken over the tent because the Lorax decided to keep an eye on The Once-Ler. Once-Ler promised he wouldn’t chop down any more trees, and then he went to town to play his guitar and convince people to buy the Thneed. No one bought it because they thought it was dumb, and it was only after The Once-Ler decided to give up and throw the Thneed away that it landed on a woman’s head and people complimented her on her trendy hat. All the townspeople then stormed the forest with money to buy more Thneeds, and The Once-Ler called his family over to help with the supply and demand. When The Once-Ler left home his family thought the Thneed would be an absolute failure, but now that it was a success they came as quick as they could to get in on the profits. The Lorax was angry when the family arrived and told them to leave, and he didn’t believe Aunt Grizelda was a woman and called her sir. The Once-Ler’s mom, Isabella, thought it took too long to harvest the tufts from the trees and told her son to do what was best for the company. He decided there was nothing bad about getting rich quick by chopping down a few trees, but he got carried away and kept “biggering,” everything until every last Tree was gone. The Once-Ler’s family was no longer proud of him and left because there was no more business and Isabella decided that Brett, another of her sons, was her new favorite child. The animals moved away to find a new place to live. The Once-Ler then gave Ted the last Truffla seed and told him to plant it in the middle of town to make people care about trees again. Ted hurried home and left the seed in his room when Mrs. Wiggins called him downstairs to talk to O’Hare and she suggested that O’Hare adopt Ted. O’Hare demanded to have the seed (which he learned about thanks to his many cameras), but Ted refused to hand it over so O’Hare and his goons stormed into Ted’s room. Grammy found the seed first and discovered that a bottle of water had spilled on the seed and caused it to sprout. Mrs. Wiggins distracted O’Hare the crazy baby-man and his goons so Ted, Audrey and Grammy could escape with the seed. Grammy used a bulldozer to dig a hole in the ground and reveal the dirt beneath, and in the process, she broke the head off the O’Hare statue. O’Hare told the townspeople that trees were nasty and dangerous because of insects and sap, but Ted and Audrey called O’Hare out on not wanting trees because they would produce fresh air for free and put O’Hare out of business. Everyone believed O’Hare’s lies and joined him, so Ted used the bulldozer to knock over the wall between Thneedville and the outside world and tell the citizens of Thneedville that the town wasn’t as perfect as O’Hare wanted them to believe and they could make everything better by planting the seed. The townspeople agreed with Ted and wanted the trees to grow, so Ted planted the seed, Audrey kissed him on the cheek and Grammy watered the seed. Before long, there were trees growing everywhere and The Once-Ler left his house to water them. The forest animals and Lorax reappeared, and the Lorax told The Once-Ler he did good. This movie had a budget of $70 million and grossed $349 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Pete Hammond, Box Office Magazine, “Fantastic fun for everyone!” Bill Zwecker, Chicago Sun-Times, “Delight and engaging. A fun family film.”

TITLE: Jack Frost

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1998 Warner Bros. / Azoff Entertainment / Canton Company

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie takes place at Christmastime and began with the Jack Frost Band, led by Jack Frost from Medford, Colorado, going on tour and performing at the Denver Music Hall. They sang Christmas songs and other artist’s songs because they had no hits of their own, but a record company noticed them. On the last day of school before Christmas break, the kids had a serious snowball fight against the seventh graders who used a slingshot to fire giant snowballs at the younger kids. Jack’s eleven-year-old son Charlie confronted Rory, the school bully, and threw a snowball in his face. When Jack got home that night, he and Charlie built a snowman and then Jack gave Charlie his favorite harmonica as a gift. The next morning, Jack had to hurry off to work and didn’t have time to show Charlie the move Jack called the J-shot which Charlie wanted to use for his hockey game that day. Jack had promised to be at the game, but he got carried away with band practice. Jack’s wife, Gabby, was upset, and Jack apologized to Charlie and learned Charlie’s team lost the game anyway. Per Jack’s suggestion, the family packed up for a vacation to the Pine Top cabin the next morning on Christmas Eve. Jack then got a call and was informed that Asylum was interested in signing Jack’s band and they had to go to Asylum’s party in Aspen on Christmas Day to be seen or risk losing a signed contract. Charlie was upset and gave the harmonica back to Jack. Once the band was in the mountains, Jack decided that he wanted to go home and spend Christmas with his family. He took the car belonging to MacArthur, Jack’s keyboardist and best friend, and set on the mountain road in the dark in a blizzard. However, the car had faulty windshield wipers that caused Jack to drive off the mountain road and die. One year later, Rory was still a bully and told Charlie to get over the death of his dad in the accident because Rory didn’t have a dad in his life. Charlie went home and built a snowman, and that night Jack was reincarnated as the snowman. Charlie was freaked out and wouldn’t let the talking snowman inside the house even though he claimed to be Jack. Charlie later told Gabby about the snowman, but she didn’t believe him. The next morning, Charlie threatened the snowman with a hairdryer if he didn’t talk, so Jack did and Charlie ran off to school screaming. Jack followed and rescued Charlie from Rory and the other kids by rapidly throwing snowballs at them and then helping Charlie escape on a sled. One bully threw two snowballs at Jack, and they landed on his chest in the shape of women’s breasts which Jack felt up before he threw them back at the bully. Charlie didn’t believe that the snowman was his dad until Jack called him Charlie-boylike he used to. When Gabby got home, Charlie distracted her so Jack, who was inside the house, could sneak back outside. Gabby thought it was strange that the snowman was in a different position in the yard whenever she saw it and sometimes not in the yard at all. Charlie saw Sid Gronic, the kids’ hockey coach, on the news reporting his frightening experience with a live snowman that knew his name (on the night Jack came back to life as a snowman and he tried to talk to Sid). Charlie pulled Jack through town to his secret place in the woods in the back of a wagon. Gabby spotted Charlie talking to the snowman and she was worried, so she asked Mac to give Charlie one of those man-to-man talks. Charlie admitted to Jack that he quit his hockey team, so Jack decided to teach Charlie the J-shot. Jack then told Charlie that he had to be the man and take care of his mom and also straighten things out with his friends because they were upset that Charlie quit the team and ditched them to hang out with a snowman. Jack and Mac went to the Shiverfest, where Mac said that he stopped playing music after Jack died because it became a job instead of natural like breathing and Jack always told Mac that music should never feel like work. Charlie decided that he wanted to be back on the team, and Natalie, a female player, had to convince the boys to give Charlie a second chance. The team headed to their next game, and Jack decided that he wanted to attend so he convinced the family dog Chester to pull him in a sleigh to the rec center. Jack almost melted when he walked across the hot asphalt to the building, but he made it just in time to see Charlie’s Mountaineers team score against the Devils. Afterwards, Charlie realized that Jack melting so Charlie ran to Gabby’s work. He asked his mom to drive him and the snowman up to the mountains so Jack wouldn’t melt, but Gabby still didn’t believe Charlie. Charlie then asked for Rory’s help, and the two of them lifted Jack into the back of a tree nursery truck (and then Charlie jumped in) headed into the mountains after Jack revealed that he could walk and bully Rory admitted that it was hard not having a dad and he didn’t want Charlie to lose his dad again. Gabby and Mac reported Charlie and the snowman’s disappearance to the police. Jack and Charlie jumped out of the back of the truck and made it to the cabin, where Jack called Gabby and told her to come pick up Charlie. Gabby was convinced she was hearing Jack’s voice, but he hung up before confirming his identity. The next morning on Christmas Day, Jack told Charlie that he wouldn’t last in the warmer weather so Charlie needed to get on with his life without Jack. Jack gave Charlie some encouraging words and said he would always be in Charlie’s heart, and just as Gabby appeared Jack turned back to his human form for a few minutes. He and Gabby tearfully said their love-yous and goodbyes, and then Jack was gone. Mac later started playing the piano again and Rory played hockey with Charlie’s team. This movie had a budget of $40-$85 million and grossed over $34 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Joel Siegel, Good Morning America/ABC-TV, “Wonderful!”

TITLE: Mary Poppins Returns

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2018  Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures / Walt Disney Pictures / Lucamar Productions / Marc Platt Productions

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This musical movie takes place in London during the Great Slump and began with lawyers Hamilton Gooding and Templeton Frye paying a visit to the Banks house on Cherry Tree Lane. Michael Banks’ wife, Kate, died the previous year, and because he had so many bills he took out a loan against the value of the house (which was more than Michael made in a year as a bank teller and he was an artist in his spare time). Michael was three months behind in his payments and the bank wanted the entire loan paid back in full otherwise Michael would lose the house if he didn’t pay back the entire loan in full by midnight on Friday, which was five days from then. Michael’s sister Jane, a labor organizer, visited the Banks house to help Ellen the housekeeper and Michael take care of his three young children, John, Annabel and Georgie. Michael remembered that his dad, George, had been a senior partner and left Michael and Jane shares in the bank. Michael had wanted to save those for the children, but Jane told him that the shares were enough to save the house. While searching for the missing share certificate, Michael decided to throw out an old kite that he had when he was a child, and the kite blew away. The kids walked to get groceries and then little Georgie went after the kite. The wind nearly swept him away, but Jack the lamplighter rescued Georgie. As they reeled the kite in, a woman named Mary Poppins, carrying a carpetbag and an umbrella with a talking parrot head on the handle, was on the other end of it. She and Jack were old friends, and when Mary went to the Banks house, Michael and Jane were surprised to see that Mary hadn’t aged a day since they last saw her many years when she was their childhood nanny. Mary took charge and wanted to be the nanny for Michael’s children, and Jane convinced Michael to let Mary stay for a while even though Michael was worried that he couldn’t afford a nanny. Mary and the children all jumped into the bathtub together for a bath, and Mary used her magical abilities to create an underwater ocean world that they all swam in. Once the adventure was over, the children got out of the bathtub unclothed and wrapped in towels. Michael and Jane went to the bank to open George’s safety deposit box, but the certificate wasn’t in there. They went to see the office of the bank chairman, William Weatherall Wilkins, who was taking over the bank for his uncle, Mr. Dawes, Jr., who William said was senile. Wilkins looked for proof of the shares in the shareholding accounts but announced that George’s name wasn’t listed there. Wilkins promised Michael and Jane he would keep looking until the last stroke of midnight on Friday. However, the criminal lying man as soon as the Banks left William’s office, William tore out the page in the account book that showed proof of shares that George owned and burned it in the fire.John got the idea that they could sell the Royal Doulton china bowl that belonged to their mom because she always said it was priceless. The children fought over the bowl and a small piece broke off it. Mary and Jack transported the kids to the china world, where they fixed the broken wheel on the carriage that belonged to the talking dog driver Shamus and his horse Clyde. They went for a carriage ride to the Royal Doulton Music Hall, where Mary and Jack went up onstage to sing. Georgie spotted a group of animals led by the wolf, Binnacle, packing up the children’s items from their nursery. Binnacle told Georgie they would lose their home, and when Georgie tried to stop the animals they kidnapped Georgie. Shamus and Clyde picked up Annabel and John and helped them jump into the back of the cart. They separated it from the front of the wagon, but then Binnacle lengthened the crack in the side of the bowl and the children went over the edge. They woke up in their beds with Mary telling them they all just had a nightmare. The next morning, Mary took the children to her cousin, Topsy, to have the bowl repaired. They and Jack rode there on Jack’s bicycle, but Topsy said that it was the second Wednesday of the month, the day when everything turned turtle (upside down) in her workshop. Mary convinced Topsy that all she had to do was change her perspective, and Topsy agreed to fix the bowl (even though it wasn’t worth nearly as much money as the kids had hoped) with her new point of view. Mary and the children were headed on the bike to the bank to give Michael his briefcase that he dropped that morning. Jack and Jane ran into each other, and they were all smiles when she recognized him as the lamplighter who used to wave to her and Michael when they were children. Jack dropped Mary and the children off at the bank to deliver Michael’s briefcase to him that he forgot that morning, and Jack used his bicycle to help Jane carry her signs to a rally. While Mary waited at the bank, the children decided to seek help from lawyer Frye, who Georgie called “the nice one.” William told the lawyers that the slump was good for their business because it caused dozens of foreclosures. Frye suggested they give the Banks a few more weeks to pay off their loan out of sympathy, but William wouldn’t hear it because he wanted the house. The children overheard and were upset, so they burst into the room. The lawyers chased them, and Michael was upset when William told him that the kids barged into William’s office and accused him of trying to steal their home when William claimed he was doing all he could to help them save it. Mary and the children got lost in the fog on their way home, so Jack and the other lamplighters, called leeries, danced and sang and Mary and the children joined in to “trip a little light fantastic.” Michael was angry that Mary didn’t bring the children straight home, and he broke down and scolded them for their behavior that almost cost him his job. When the young ones apologized and admitted that they were trying to save the house, Michael forgave them. The family then packed up the house and said goodbye to it, and the neighbors offered to help but the Banks planned to stay at Jane’s flat while Ellen the housekeeper stayed with her sister. Georgie retrieved his kite, and Michael realized that the drawing Georgie tore up to patch the holes in the kite was actually drawn on the back of the share certificate. While Michael and Jane hurried to the bank with less than five minutes until midnight, Mary, Jack, the children and the leeries all rode their bicycles to Big Ben. The leeries risked their lives to help Jack climb up the side of the tower using their ladders, but Jack couldn’t reach the clock hands. Within seconds, Mary used her umbrella to float up and “turn back time,” by moving the clock hands. William ordered the lawyers to lock the bank doors so Michael and Jane couldn’t get inside. They flew the kite into William’s window to get his attention, and then Frye decided to let them in. Michael and the children pieced together the scraps of the certificate, but William told them it was worthless because it was missing the piece with the signatures on it. Michael realized that his kids were right about William being a liar and now understood William’s thieving waysand he should have believed them sooner, and then William’s uncle Dawes appeared. Uncle Dawes confronted William for falsely calling his uncle loony, and also for William increasing the bank’s profits dishonestly by stealing from customers and trying to cheatthe Banks. Dawes fired his nephew William on the spot, and then he informed the Banks that the house was theirs because Dawes knew George had shares in the banks and they were enough to pay off the loan. The next day, Ellen and the Banks went to the Spring Fair with the cherry blossoms blooming. They convinced Michael to get a balloon, and it gave him the ability to fly when it floated upwards into the sky. He announced that every impossible and magical thing he and Jane thought they imagined with Mary Poppins when they were children really happened. The children followed with more balloons, Jane and Jack had a romantic balloon flight holding hands, Frye and Gooding shared a balloon, and the neighbors and townspeople joined in because the only way to go was up. William decided to try it too, but the pink balloon he chose didn’t fly. The Banks returned home, and Mary Poppins floated away with her umbrella while Jack sang, “Hold on tight to those you love, and maybe soon from up above, you’ll be blessed, so keep on looking high, while you’re underneath the lovely London sky.” This movie had a budget of $130 million and grossed over $349 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Dave Morales, FOX-TV, Houston, “Pure magic-in the most delightful way!”

REASON: This movie began in Missouri in 1988, where young Peter Quill visited his mother Meredith in the hospital where she was dying from cancer. Meredith gave Peter a gift and said that Peter’s grandpa would take care of him until his dad came back to get him. Peter didn’t want to touch his mom’s hand because he was too upset, and then Meredith died and Grandpa had to carry Peter out of the hospital room crying and screaming. Peter ran outside and was abducted by the Ravagers, a group of alien smugglers and thieves who raised him for the next 26 years on the abandoned planet Morag. Peter, now known as the outlaw Star-Lord and going by his last name Quill, stole an item called an Orb to sell to his buyer, the Broker. Ronan the Accuser’s allies, Korath and other Kree members tried to take the Orb from Quill but failed. Quill refused to tell Yondu Udonta, the leader of the Ravagers, a father figure to Peter, where he was. Yondu offered 40,000 units to whoever captured Quill and then Yondu would kill Peter. Ronan had an agreement with Thanos, the most powerful being in the galaxy, that he would retrieve the Orb for Thanos and in return Thanos would destroy the Xandarians, who were Ronan’s enemy because they killed his father and grandfathers. Ronan sent Gamora to Xandar, the capital of the Nova Empire, to get the Orb. On Xandar, genetically engineered bounty hunter raccoon Rocket and his friend Groot, a tree-like being, tried to hunt down Peter. Quill delivered the Orb to the Broker as planned, but the Broker called the deal off and wouldn’t buy the Orb when he learned that Ronan was involved and the Broker didn’t want to get mixed up in it and die because he was Xandarian. Gamora, the surgically modified adopted daughter of Thanos, trained to be his personal assassin, tried to steal the Orb from Quill and kill him. At the same time, Rocket and Groot tried to capture Quill but the Nova Corps, the city’s military/police force, appeared and arrested the foursome for endangering life and destroying property. They were sent to the Kyln, a high-security prison. Since Gamora helped kill the families of many of the prisoners, they wanted to kill Gamora in return and took her to the showers at knifepoint. Drax the Destroyer wanted to do the honors so he could avenge his wife and daughter who were killed by Ronan, but Quill convinced Drax to wait for the chance to kill Ronan because Gamora was merely a puppet and killing her would do nothing. Gamora revealed that she had planned to betray Ronan by not giving him the Orb and instead selling it for four billion units to Taneleer Tivan, also called The Collector because he owned the largest collection of fauna, relics and species in the galaxy that he kept in the mining colony of Knowhere. Gamora made a deal with Quill, Rocket, Groot and Drax that she would split the profit of the Orb between all of them if they helped her to get Knowhere. Word got around to Ronan, who Thanos threatened to kill if he didn’t bring the Orb to Thanos. Ronan and Nebula, Thanos’ adopted daughter and Gamora’s sister, followed behind Quill’s group in search of the Orb. Rocket, who had already escaped 22 prisons, had a plan and sent everyone out to gather escape implements. They used machine guns and hand-to-hand combat against the guards, and Rocket launched the watchtower out of the prison and then the group boarded Quill’s starship, the Milano. It landed in Knowhere, where the severed head of an ancient celestial being was located. The Tivan Group hired outlaws to do the illegal work of mining the organic matter from the skull and selling it on the black market. Gamora told Quill that when Thanos took her home planet, he killed Gamora’s parents in front of her. He then tortured Gamora and made her an assassin, and Gamora was betraying Ronan and Thanos because she didn’t want to assist them in destroying Xandar. Quill showed Gamora his Walkman that his mom gave him before she died, and used the Walkman to listen to his favorite songs. He added that dancing was everything, especially according to Kevin Bacon in Footloose. Quill and Gamora almost kissed, but she stopped it by holding a knife to his throat. Rocket then tried to shoot Drax, who upset Rocket by calling him vermin. Quill reminded Rocket of his share of money that he would get from the sale of the orb, so he agreed to be somewhat civil until then. Tivan’s representative, Carina, took Quill’s group to her master. Tivan explained that the Orb contained an Infinity Stone, which could be used by a being of great power to destroy civilizations. Carina didn’t want to be Tivan’s slave anymore, so she grabbed the Stone but was killed upon contact. Quill still wanted to sell the Orb, but Gamora changed her mind and convinced her group to give the Stone to the Nova Corps instead so Ronan and Thanos couldn’t get a hold of it. Ronan and the Kree then appeared because Drax called them to start a battle. Nebula went after Gamora and got the Orb, which she gave to Ronan. Nebula thought she killed Gamora in the process, but Quill rescued Gamora. The two were then captured by the Ravagers, and knew where to find them because Yondu threatened the Broker’s life if he didn’t reveal who would be willing to buy the Orb (Tivan). Ronan almost killed Drax, but Groot saved him. Ronan went to see Thanos and opened the Orb to reveal the Stone inside, and Ronan decided that he would torment Xandar for 1,000 years, burn it and then destroy Thanos. Nebula agreed to help Ronan destroy the galaxy and kill Thanos because he turned Nebula into a cyborg. Yondu beat Quill up and planned to kill him because Quill betrayed Yondu, but Quill talked Yondu out of it by telling him they could fight Ronan together and Yondu could have the Orb when they were done. Yondu agreed but threatened to kill all of them if Quill double-crossed him again. Quill asked his group to risk their lives in order to save billions of Xandarians from Ronan’s wrath, and they agreed. Quill contacted the Nova Corps to enlist their help and admitted that he was 100% a dick, and Rhomann Dey the corpsman was able to convince Irani Rael (aka Nova Prime), the leader of the Nova Corps, that Quill wanted to save Xandar. Ronan’s army, the Sakaarans, used their ships and pilots to shoot at the Milano while Yondu’s starship went down. Peter’s crew boarded the Dark Aster, Ronan’s warship, and the Nova Corps came as backup led by Denarian Saal. The Sakaarans blasted Xandar and the citizens evacuated, Quill and his group fought off their enemies, and sisters Gamora and Nebula fought until Nebula retreated and commandeered a starship. Quill and his crew confronted Ronan, and then Rocket hit the Dark Aster with his starship. Groot sacrificed himself to save the others as the Dark Aste crashed to the ground.Ronan emerged, and Quill distracted him while Drax shot the Stone out of Ronan’s hand. Quill grabbed the Stone, his three comrades all joined hands and were not killed upon touching the Stone. Quill told Ronan the bit** that their group was called the Guardians of the Galaxy, and they destroyed Ronan. Yondu demanded to have the Orb as planned, and Quill handed it over but then revealed to the Guardians that he gave Yondu a fake orb. The Nova Corps later informed Quill that when he was arrested, they checked out the anomaly in his system and discovered that he was half-human (Terran) on his mom’s side and half something on his dad’s side. Gamora assured Drax that he successfully avenged his family, and he replied that Ronan was only a puppet and he needed to kill Thanos. Rhomann Dey, now Denarian Dey because Denarian Saal was killed in the battle, presented Quill with a new Milano since the original ship was destroyed. Dey added that his wife and daughter were alive because of the Guardians and the criminal records of the group were expunged. Quill promised that he would keep an eye on the Guardians and keep them from breaking any more laws. Quill decided to open the gift from his mom that he left in a drawer for the past 26 years, and inside was Vol. 2 of Peter’s “Awesome Mix,” music for him to use on his Walkman. As Rocket nursed a young Groot sapling, the Guardians agreed to follow Star-Lord’s (Quill) lead and do a little bit of good and a little bit of bad. This movie had a budget of $232 million and grossed over $773 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Alisha Grauso, Moviepilot.com, “Best Marvel movie ever.”

TITLE:  Green Lantern: Emerald Knights

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2011 Warner Bros. Animation / Warner Premiere DC Entertainment / Warner Home Video

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began with Ardakian Trawl, a member of the superhero group called the Green Lantern Corps, murdered by soulless Shadow Demons sent by Krona, who created the Antimatter Universe. Krona almost destroyed the world, and as a result he was transformed into disembodied energy but he managed to reconstruct himself. He planned to use the sun to attack the Guardians of the Universe and destroy the Book of Oa, the Guardians’ sacred text that contained “scripture” that detailed the events of time. The Lanterns were sent to the Sun to monitor it while the others evacuated Oa, the home planet. While the Lanterns waited for Krona to arrive so they could battle him, Hal Jordan told new recruit Arisia Rrab six stories about six legendary Lanterns. The first true Lantern was Avra, a scribe. The Guardians decided they needed protectors to defeat evil, so they forged four glowing green rings, the source of the Lanterns’ powers, and allowed the rings to choose four people who were worthy to be Lanterns. When a plague attacked the universe, the newly trained Lanterns fought it but were overpowered. One of them was killed, and the Lanterns knew they couldn’t win so they decided to retreat. However, Avra announced that he believed in the Guardians so he chose to risk his life and fight. Avra destroyed the plague, and thousands more rings were forged and passed on to future Green Lanterns. In the second story, Deegan was the trainer of the new Lantern recruits. He gave them tough and almost deadly challenges, and Kilowog told Deegan that he would be called a murderer if one of his students died. Kilowog and Deegan had a battle, and Deegan defeated the trainee and explained that it was the duty of the Lanterns to sacrifice their lives and die so others wouldn’t have to, and their former lives were no longer theirs. The Khundians attacked Chiraka’s capital, and the Lanterns went to fight them off and Deegan was injured. Kilowog took charge and the Lantern trainees defeated the Khundians, and before Deegan died he told Kilowog that he was different from the rest and Deegan never would have let any of his cadets die during their training. In the next story, Lantern member Laira Omoto was sent by the Guardians to the planet Jayd for her first solo mission. Laira protested against the Golden Dragon law that allowed the massacre of the Khundians, and Ree’yu informed Laira that the Khundians were the savage enemies of Laira’s dad, Kentor Appa Ali Apsa. Ree’yu told Laira she had no honor for going against her family, and Laira replied that Ree’yu had no honor because she could hardly tear herself from Kentor’s bed. Ree’yu claimed that Laira was jealous because Ree’yu deserved Kentor’s love and Laira didn’t. Laira and Ree’yu battled, and Laira defeated her and then also defeated her older brother Rubyn who used to scare Laira when they were younger and then lock her up until she calmed down. Laira spoke with Kentor, who was angry that Laira was now loyal to the Lanterns and the Guardians instead of Jayd and her family. When Khundians attacked Jayd, the Lantern defending their section was shot and beaten to death. The ring chose Laira, and she left Jayd to be a lantern. Kentor wanted to steal Laira’s ring so he could be a warrior, and Laira was upset that Kentor turned Jayd into a hostile outlaw world in his attempt to get his honor back. Kentor tried to convince Laira to join him and be his daughter again, but she refused so the two battled. Kentor overpowered Laira and took her ring, but it didn’t make him the warrior he wanted to be. After Laira defeated her dad, he committed suicide by stabbing himself with a knife and bled blue-blood. Kentor’s dying words were that his daughter was the real protector of Jayd and not the Golden Dragon. Hal told Arisia the story of Bolphunga the Unrelenting, who was war-hungry and fought everyone he could in an attempt to become the most powerful warrior in the universe. Bolphunga easily defeated and disarmed (literally took his arms off) Kloba Vud, the Titan of the Vlidomals. Bolphunga then set his eyes on Mogo, the most powerful Green Lantern who was undefeated.Bolphunga searched Mogo’s planet for months and couldn’t find him. It then turned out that Mogo existed in the form of his planet, and he destroyed Bolphunga. In present day, the Lanterns fought off a group of Shadow Demons. Arisia was knocked out during the battle, and when she woke up, Sinestro the Lantern told her the story of how he and his friend Abin Sur worked together to take out Atrocitus, a member of the terrorist cell Five Inversions. Atrocitus (who, according to the Book of Oa, could talk to destiny and foretell the future) escaped from Ysmault, where he had been imprisoned for 700 years, and killed three Lanterns. Sinestro made a point of how he didn’t believe in destiny, and Abin argued that everything was destiny. Abin returned Atrocitus to Ysmault, and Atrocitus predicted that all the murderers and deviants would soon be united with Sinestro as the leader of the corps of fear that would terrorize the universe. There would be a war of light that would burn the surface of Oa black and kill many Lanterns, the green light that powered the rings would be destroyed, and the Guardians would be skinned alive and eaten by Sinestro’s followers. Abin didn’t believe a word of it and knew his friend SInestro would never do that. That was the last story, and Krona appeared and the Lanterns fought him. Krona was too powerful, and Arisia made the point that since Krona was made of antimatter, they could destroy him by throwing something of equal or greater mass at him. The Lanterns agreed to try it and they, with the help of Mogo, tossed the planet Oa at Krona that destroyed him once and for all. Mogo agreed to be the temporary base for the Guardians and the Lanterns until they could build a new Oa, and Arisia was considered a hero and an agent of destiny because she fulfilled the prophecy of Oa’s destruction. The Guardians welcomed a new generation of Lanterns to take the place of the fallen Lanterns.

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This movie began with Cavalier Little Leaguer Buddy Harper spoting a poster on the school wall at Tarver County Elementary School that read how abortion was not a crime or a sin and it was not their business and advised the young students to call 555-1548 for help with abortion. That offended young Buddy so he put the Ten Commandments over it with #6, “Do not kill,” highlighted over the abortion and pregnancy notices. Another day, high schooler students hanging around the elementary school were taking money from younger kids on school grounds and making an exchange of some sort (possibly drugs),and Buddy ran by because he wanted no part of that scene and when he got to the door a teacher helped him inside and then the teacher spotted the older teens and ran them off. Buddy then discovered that someone had X’d out the Ten Commandments on the wall in the hall. In class, Buddy told the teacher that America was founded upon Christian principles when he was asked what impact religion had on history, and the teacher corrected that more wars started because of religion than for any other reason and mentioned Hitler and the Jews. Buddy questioned the teacher and mentioned how the first amendment guaranteed freedom of religion, and added sarcastically that perhaps it would be better if religion was illegal and then he walked out of class. The teacher caught up to Buddy in the hall and was angry that Buddy put up the Ten Commandments on the wall, so the teacher ripped it down, said that wasn’t allowed and took Buddy to the principal’s office. The teacher told the principal that Buddy repeatedly put up the Ten Commandments in school and that had to stop. The school principal agreed and suspended the Buddy for ten days because of “Unauthorized written or oral communications.” After Buddy’s dad, Jim, got home, Jim told his wife Brenda that his company was restructuring positions out of existence and his job was suddenly eliminated (Which may have been a targeted event at Jim’s work because his son had defended the 10 Commandments in school and spoke up for Christian values and beliefs that the USA is founded upon…No Doubt many school systems, city/town officials, and major employers don’t want to hear or live alongside GOD’s truth so they illegally ban together and silence it instead). At dinner, Buddy showed Jim his suspension paper. Jim and Brenda went to speak to the questionable principal, who told them that it wouldn’t matter if Jim sued the school over his son’s suspension over religious beliefs because the (unlawful) courts had already decided in favor of the school and Jim would lose badly. The principal added that if he didn’t suspend Buddy, he would have to handle the ungodly parents suing the school because they didn’t want the Ten Commandments in school for their children. Jim mentioned the abortion posters, and the principal replied that Buddy called the teacher an anti-religious bigot. Jim and Brenda argued about her homeschooling Buddy, and the principal informed them they weren’t allowed to start homeschooling halfway through the school year or they would be charged with truancy. After the meeting was over, Lacie Dunhill from Child Services showed up at the public school and gave the principal the new regulations, which allowed them to inspect homeschool families in the area. Lacie asked for a list of all the potential homeschoolers, and the principal replied that would be the same procedure that the state had for child abusers. Lacie stated that homeschooling was growing so fast that before long they would start cutting the education budgets, and the principal said his brother homeschooled his kids so it wasn’t so bad. Lacie from CPS replied it was and there were important people who didn’t want to see the homeschoolers drain the budget, and Lacie threatened the principal’s job if he didn’t comply that she would remember his decision when he came up for review by the school board. Later that night, Jim and Brenda discussed homeschooling and she pointed out they could teach Buddy and their younger son Mickey based on their religious beliefs without the interference of sleazy-clothed girls, drug dealers and hostile teachers.Jim said their son was a good person and could influence other children, but Brenda made the point that their son was outnumbered 100 to 1 with all the ones rasied without GOD and he would get swallowed up in an environment where they buried and silenced a Christian versus accepted him. Since the truant officer would be hounding them, Brenda suggested they move so they could start homeschool and not have to worry about the crazy laws that prevented a family from raising their child faith-based first. Brenda said they had enough savings to buy a new house and put their house on the market and hope it sold quickly. Jim argued that if they were going to spend their savings, they should keep paying mortgage on their current house and keep Buddy in his current school. Jim then noticed the candlelight outside went out, and they trusted it was a sign from God so Jim agreed to try homeschooling. Brenda used her vacation time off from work, and she set up a homeschooling classroom since Buddy was suspended from public school for the next ten days so he wouldn’t miss out on his education. Kathy Nicholson showed up at the door and had Brenda register Buddy for the homeschool academy, and before Kathy left she told Brenda that with homeschool you could teach your children in whatever way worked for them because everyone was different in their learning abilities and Brenda didn’t have to turn her house into a classroom setup. Jim searched for a new job and couldn’t even get an interview with Paradime Technologies, and he had no luck in five prospects he went to that week. Brenda was supportive and told the children to keep their faith and focus on doing the best they could in lieu of their Christian family being forced into poverty situations because of the failed public school system and discriminatory employment practices against Jesus loving families. Minutes later, Lacie Dunhill from the Department of Child Services came to the door claiming she needed to see the children and inspect the homeschooling process since Brenda’s name was on the list. Brenda couldn’t believe it and questioned why because it didn’t seem legal, and DCS Lacie explained that it was her job to inspect homeschooling environments and interview the children. Lacie then barged inside the house as if she owned it and were in control of the children (communist way) and said it was up to the regulation department and she would go talk to the children. Brenda told Lacie to get out of her house while Jim was upstairs taking a shower as he just got home. The kids ran off when they saw the scary DCS woman arguing with their righteous mom. Jim appeared then after he heard the commotion below stairs and hurriedly dressed to help his wife. Lacie showed Jim and Brenda the multi-page state government document which gave her the right to be there, and Brenda said Lacie had no right and the DCS couldn’t make up their own rules as they saw fit. Jim ignored the document and demanded to know if Brenda gave Lacie permission to be in their house, and the DCS worker said she didn’t need permission. Jim told Lacie she could either walk out or he would drag her out by the hair, so she left saying she would be back and Jim told her to bring a warrant if she came back. Lacie stormed out of the house to her car and immediately called the sheriff on her cell phone. Inside the house, Brenda told Jim that she already had printed out the rules and regulations for homeschooling in their state and there was no law that allowed the DCS/CPS to come snooping at their house and trying to oversee their homeschool. Jim and Brenda noticed the sheriff’s car pull into their drive. Jim and Brenda went outside to meet the sheriff, and on the lying crazy lady’s word the sheriff said that Jim was under arrest for assaulting Lacie even after Brenda said her husband didn’t touch Lacie. The sheriff added that it would have to be worked out in the courts and Brenda could pick Jim up in an hour. DCS Lacie questioned why the small-town sheriff wasn’t handcuffing Jim, and the sheriff told Lacie that all the bogus regulations that she made up and the numerous people she had arrested on false charges were going to be thrown out in the court system and Lacie would be sued by all the families she targeted in order to maintain her power and control the public education system. The sheriff added that his testimony wouldn’t help Lacie at all because he knew she was lying. Brenda consoled the children who were now without their dad because of the wretched witch in the failed system. Since the Harpers owned property in the county, there was no bail and Brenda signed some papers at the police department (without her children with her). Loony Lacie then showed up and handed over a legal document stating that she was taking the children away and placing them in a foster home because they were in danger. Lacie claimed that she had the affidavit, and she singled out the deputy to help her get it signed. Jim was released at the same time from his jail cell. As Jim walked down the hall he heard DCS Lacie and the deputy arguing in a conference room. The deputy didn’t want to sign the document and Lacie told him that he had to because it was his job to sign it or else. CPS Lacie said she would get those Harper kids away from their Christian parents. That was enough for Jim and he took off running down the hall to freedom so he could protect his family from the crazy kangeroo court justice system that stole innocent people’s time and money and had an ungodly female lunatic running the show. Jim collected his wife and they both ran out of the jail. Jim asked about the boys and Brenda replied that she took them to her dad’s house (Owen). They left quickly to get ahead of the circus show. Jim called his father-in-law and told him to take the boys away so the state wouldn’t take them away through an illegal system. They planned to switch vehicles, and Owen agreed to help because he knew that Jim and Brenda were not child abusers. While Owen watched the kids, Jim and Brenda returned home and packed quickly leaving a great deal of personal items and valuables behind. Jim found a restored small house with a barn out of state on 56 acres for $99,000. He worked it out on the phone with a realtor for them to rent the house until the title paperwork came through and they would pay for the house and property in cash. Three hours later, the deputy gave the sheriff the signed affidavit paperwork with the judge’s signature that the CPS Lacie state worker got from the judge at a dinner party for the kids to be removed from the Harpers’ custody. Both police officers knew Lacie was crazy and had abused her authority multiple times and they had to do their job and remove the kids from the Harpers’ custody and couldn’t do anything about Lacie’s lies otherwise they would lose their jobs and it would be for nothing since nothing with happen to the criminals on the inside of the system gone wrong. The sheriff didn’t believe the judge would remove the children permanently, and the deputy said it might be temporary but it would take months to sort it out in the courts. DCS Lacie hellbent on tearing apart the Christian family then barged in and told the sheriff that the children were being abused because they were getting a below-standard education in their homeschooling. The sheriff said he wouldn’t lie under oath when they called him as a witness against Lacie’s claims. DCS Lacie replied that there were powerful organizations with deep pockets mobilized to stop homeschooling. Lacie threatened the sheriff’s job by telling him that he was up for reelection next year but he wasn’t the only candidate, so Lacie was going to make sure that sheriff didn’t get reelected again.  The deputy said he would get the kids but he wasn’t taking the female that was ruining the kids’ lives with him (DCS Lacie) and told the sheriff to stay there with Lacie. The deputy added that they needed to trust the court systems (not the kangaroo court systems that catered to Lacie and her lies). Jim told Brenda she had to leave her hummingbirds behind because they didn’t have room for everything and would eventually have to sell it all since they were moving to a 1,000 square foot farmhouse with a barn for animals and land for crops. Brenda wasn’t sure about being a farmer and she wanted a house in town. Jim told her it would be an adventure and it wasn’t just about homeschooling anymore according to Jim. He added that they needed boys to help out on the farm and they should have more kids, and Jim had always wanted to have horses and Tennessee Walking horses because they sold like hotcakes down there. The deputy drove by and saw the husband and wife quickly packing up the van and car, so the officer didn’t stop and instead went to get some food. He then slept in his patrol car. The next morning, Jim and Brenda called Grandpa Owen to tell him they were coming to get the kids. The deputy woke up and saw the Harper van and car drive by. He waited a few minutes and then went to their house (knowing they had already safely made it out) and tried to serve the warrant but nobody was home. The deputy called it in and said he tried to serve the papers, but nobody was home so he would drive around town and look for the Harpers. DCS Lacie stormed into the sheriff’s office and called him and the deputy out on delaying the serving of the warrant so the Harpers could get away. The sheriff told Lacie that he would testify under oath that she was crazy and she trumped up false charges against the Harper family and abused her power so she should be fired. The sheriff threatened to call Frank Grisham at the Daily Banner newspaper on the spot so Lacie’s lies would be front-page headline. Lacie freaked out and left the office, and then the sheriff called his news buddy, Frank. On the car ride, Jim told Buddy it would all work out and what he would miss the most from his previous home was posting the Ten Commandments over the abortion posters on the school bulletin. The new house was a culture shock to Brenda and she later learned that they had well water instead of city water, so Brenda wouldn’t be able to take a shower until Jim got fuses to put in the fuse box to fix the pump. Brenda was then informed that even though Walmart was open for 24 hours, it was now 30 miles away. Later that evening, Jim and Brenda agreed that they didn’t miss where they came from and they were happy to be where they were together and could raise their God given family daily with Christian beliefs and values. The next morning as Brenda made ham and grits for breakfast, she told her son Buddy that they could not google frogs on the internet because the family didn’t have the money for a laptop since they all had to make sacrifices. Instead, Buddy had to read educational books the old-school way to learn. Brenda handed Jim the list of supplies he needed to buy from Walmart, and Jim said he needed a truck and he would sell Brenda’s car. Buddy spoke up and used his mom’s words that they all had to make sacrifices like he did for the laptop and now it was Brenda’s turn so she ought to give up her car. Brenda cleaned out the car and Jim came home with a used truck and extra money he got for the car and he bought some rabbits for food. At dinner, Buddy gave his report that there were no poisonous frogs in the area and those were mostly in the tropics. As more Christian music played, Jim took the boys to the pond with a frog gig, where Buddy got to gig the frogs and young Mickey got to hold the frogs. They then cleaned and fried the frogs to eat. Two months after moving in, Owen came for a visit and told Brenda that her mother wouldn’t approve of her homeschooling the boys. Brenda told Owen to leave if he was going to be nasty, so her dad decided to be nice. In the barn, Jim and Buddy discussed how rabbits multiplied fast so they were a good source of food. Jim then instructed his son to hang a rabbit by its foot and then hit it on the head hard so it wouldn’t feel any pain when it died and then they could eat it for dinner since Grandpa Owen was there. Buddy didn’t want to kill the rabbit but also didn’t want Owen to think he was a wimp. Owen told his daughter Brenda that Buddy needed other boys to play with because if he stayed at home with his mom he would turn into a wimp. Brenda replied that Buddy was helping his dad build stalls in the barn, and Owen said he didn’t hear anything so Buddy probably smashed his finger with the hammer and was crying like a baby. Brenda told Owen that boys needed their moms too. Jim explained to Buddy that everyone could be considered a wimp when they weren’t, like Jim who couldn’t give blood to the Red Cross because as soon as he got stuck with a needle he passed out. Buddy said he didn’t mind eating the rabbit (because Jim revealed that the “chicken” Buddy ate earlier and thought was good was rabbit) but he wasn’t going to be there when Jim killed the rabbit and he would rather shovel manure. As everyone gobbled down the “chicken” pot pie, Jim told Owen that he was buying pigs the following day because he couldn’t afford horses at the moment. Owen witnessed Buddy and Megan from a nearby farm hanging out, and Brenda gave Owen some water and told him that her son wasn’t socially retarded. Owen made a wisecrack about rabbits and Brenda informed him that he liked rabbit in his chicken pot pie. Owen read the airplane history report that Buddy wrote while his grandpa was sleeping, and Jim and Buddy went outside to test an airplane model they had just built. Owen was very impressed with Buddy’s homeschool report. There must have been a nationwide bulletin in the DCS/CPS system regarding the Harper family that criminal DCS worker Lacie logged, because another CPS worker named Nancy Callahan showed up at the farm in their new state and told Owen Sandler who answered the door that she was there to check up on the kids because another state reported they were abused and belonged in foster care per the report in the CPS system. Nancy told Owen that the other state had no authority in the new state so they couldn’t do anything legally with the children, but she still had to check it out. Owen said that whoever made up that vicious lying DCS report on the Harper family was a criminal and shouldn’t have her job. After they saw Jim and Buddy with their airplane in the field, Owen told the CPS worker that Jim was a fine dad. Nancy left and said DCS would leave the family alone. Brenda asked who was at the door, and Owen lied that it was someone with the wrong address instead of telling Brenda that it was a CPS worker. Owen didn’t want his daughter to worry about the screwed up system that had innocent folks moving cross country to save GOD’s children from an evil witch who told horrific lies and hunted em down in her crooked attempt to break apart HIS Christian family. The movie ended with Brenda unpacking baby clothes and Owen going outside to join his son-in-law and grandson homeschooling in the field with a crafty airplane.

REASON: This movie began with female medical engineer Dr. Ryan Stone and male Lieutenant Matthew Kowalski, the commander, onboard the NASA Explorer that left Cape Canaveral. It was Dr. Stone’s first space mission. Dr. Stone was nauseous and lied that she was fine and covered it up when she told them back on Earth that she planned to buy everyone drinks when she got home. Mission Control in Houston replied that they preferred margaritas. Kowalski told the story again about his failed relationship that sent him to Tijuana in 1996 because his woman back in the states ran off with a lawyer while he was in space. The purpose of the mission was so Dr. Stone could install her system in the Hubble and Houston appreciated her help because they were having no successful communication transmissions from the satellite to Houstonand Stone hoped to remedy that situation. Then, there was a NORAD report that a Russian satellite incurred a missile strike which created debris that was now orbiting and the Russians struck one of their own satellites. Kowalski went on about the Mardi Gras incident of 1987 when he spotted a sister of a friend of his with a hairy guy in board shorts and Margaritaville shirt who Kowalski then realized was actually a female the other female was holding hands with. They were then instructed to abort mission and return to the shuttle Explorer because the missile debris hit other satellites which created new debris and that was headed right towards them at a high speed of 20,000 miles an hour. It was a chain reaction that the Russians created. The USA team lost communication with Houston, and then the part that Dr. Stone was attached to detached from debris hitting the satellite so she spun around and out of control. Kowalski ordered her to detach and she was flung out into space spinning around. Dr. Stone didn’t know where she was and the GPS was down so she couldn’t give coordinates and she couldn’t breathe. When she finally got ahold of Kowalski, she flashed her light so he could find her and he told her to breathe slower so she wouldn’t use more oxygen than necessary. He was able to maneuver toward her and grabbed her with a “gotcha” comment and he tethered the two of them together. Kowalski then headed back to the shuttle as Dr. Stone swore the f word. They set their watches for 90 minutes because that was when the debris could orbit back around. Kowalski told Houston whether or not they were listening that he would retrieve the body of Shariff Dasari, the flight engineer and return it to the shuttle. An object smashed through Shariff’s helmet and blew a hole through his face, so Matthew swore Jesus Christ and said he hoped Shariff’s family had a good insurance policy. The duo discovered that they were the sole survivors of the STS-157, and then they agreed they would float through space to the ISS to use the Soyuz escape pod and return to Earth. To pass the time, they talked about Dr. Stone’s 18-hour shifts at the hospital and how she listened to random music on the radio on her way home to her Lake Zurich, Illinois house. Dr. Stone added that she had a daughter when Kowalski asked if there was somebody down on Earth missing her. However her 4 year old daughter died at school from playing tag when she slipped and hit her head and she because she was driving when she got the call she just drove around after her 18 hour shifts at the hospital (her life after the death of Sarah). The two of them made it through space but slammed into the ISS that was evacuated, and their tether broke so they struggled to grab hold of something and eventually got back together. Dr. Stone was attached at her leg by a rope to ISS and because it wouldn’t hold both of their weight, Kowalski decided to unhitch the tether and he drifted off into suicide space so Dr. Stone could have her life. Kowalski still helped Stone while he was able and told her to board the station to get oxygen because her CO2 alarm went off after her O2 had all but depleted. Kowalski told Dr. Stone that the Soyuz was too damaged for reentry, but not too damaged where Dr. Stone couldn’t drive it to the Chinese station and use their pod, the Shenzhou. Dr. Stone was worried that she couldn’t operate the Shenzhou, and Kowalski reassured her that the reentry protocol was identical to the Soyuz. Dr. Stone admitted that she crashed the Soyuz simulator every time, and Kowalski told her it wasn’t rocket science and to just point the pod at Earth. Stone wanted to use the Soyuz to rescue Kowalski, but he told her it was too late. He asked her what kind of a girl’s name was Ryan she replied that her dad wanted a boy. Kowalski blasted his country music and said Dr. Stone should see the sun on the Ganges. Dr. Stone made it into the station, and she took her spacesuit off and floated around in her tank top and boy shorts. She tried to get ahold of Kowalski and talk to him but he made no reply, so Dr. Stone informed Houston that all communications with Kowalski had been lost and Dr. Stone was the sole survivor. The alarm then went off to alert a fire in the station (which the dr. herself may have caused), and Dr. Stone hit her head when she tried to put out the fire. When she used the extinguisher, it created a huge explosion and she escaped into the Soyuz. She undocked the pod with only seven minutes to get out, but the pod was stuck so Dr. Stone went outside to work on detaching it. The debris came back around and destroyed the station, but Dr. Stone was able to get free with the Soyuz. However, minutes later the Soyuz ran out of fuel, and a Greenlandic Inuit fisherman named Aningaaq intercepted Dr. Stone’s transmissions to Houston. Aningaaq thought Dr. Stone’s name was ”mayday” because she kept repeating it but she said corrected her name was not mayday. Dr. Stone howled along with Aningaaq’s dogs, and then she broke down in tears about how she was scared to die that day because there was no one to mourn for her or pray for her soul. Stone added that she would pray for herself, but nobody ever taught her how and she had never prayed before in her life (nor did Dr. Stone even try to speak to God at that moment.) Dr. Stone heard a baby crying over the radio and was reminded how she hoped to be reunited with her dead child soon. Dr. Stone appeared to have messed with an air control and tried to kill herself by drifting off to sleep, and then Kowalski suddenly banged on the door and opened the hatch and came inside. One of the first things Kowalski asked was if Stone found the Russian vodka, and he pulled it out from under the seat, spoke Russian and took a swig from the bottle. Kowalski told Stone to use the landing pads since they were the same as the launch ones and even though her kid died she had the choice to live and make the most of her life. Dr. Stone then woke up from her drugged like state. Kowalski wasn’t there as it was a dream. Dr. Stone tried to get the Soyuz started and to keep herself calm she spoke to Matt. She asked Matt to tell the deceased daughter, Sarah, that she found her missing red shoe under the bed and not to worry and eventually mama would see her again with Matt and that she loved Sarah and wasn’t quitting and now didn’t plan on ending her own life anymore.  Dr. Stone said that the Tiangong (China) craft pod would be her last ride, and then Dr. Stone jumped out of the n Soyuz craft and used the fire extinguisher to help her move around in space. She made it into the China station and Dr. Stone heard men chattering in Chinese on the radio inside. There was a Buddha figurine at the control area, and then she had to guess which button to press to undock the Shenzhou because she couldn’t read Chinese. Houston, Texas didn’t respond when Dr. Stone said she was returning home in the China Shenzhou craft. Dr. Stone thought either she would make it back to Earth and have a story to tell or burn up along the way but either way it would be one hell of a ride. Dr. Stone was able to hit the button to dismantle the pod during reentry, and Houston identified Shenzhou China coming through the atmosphere and asked for identification on the radio. The pod landed in a body of water and sunk to the bottom. Dr. Stone was able to get out of the pod underwater and then remove the heavy Spacesuit that weighed her down in order for her to swim to the surface. Dr. Stone swam a short distance to shore to land with green mountains. This movie had a budget of $100 million and grossed over $723 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Time, “The best movie of the year.” Claudia Puig, USA Today, “A bracing masterpiece.”

REASON: This movie takes place in Georgia, where Larry McCoy worked as a waiter at the Cowboy Franks restaurant. His girlfriend Karen told him that she was pregnant, so Larry announced the news to the diners and said the salad bar was free for an hour. He then proposed to Karen, but his girlfriend turned his marriage proposal down and told him and everyone else in the eatery using the speaker that the baby wasn’t Larry’s. At the trailer park, Larry’s friend Bill Little watched his two young sons, wearing makeshift Native American headdresses, use golf clubs to beat up the mailman and told the paleface to die. Bill’s wife Connie was upset, and Bill told his buddy that 50% of all marriages ended in divorce, but it wasn’t always possible to get one when a man’s wife had incriminating photos of him having coffee with a young dancer. That led to the man dreaming about murder/suicide and the sweet relief it would bring. Everett Shackleford, Larry and Bill’s other buddy, had been a police officer for four days before he crashed his patrol car into a nail salon. Now he was a security guard and lived in a storage unit, and his boss warned him about the samurai sword-wielding man (Everett) who exposed himself to the waitresses at Denny’s. The three men met up at the Chattahoochee Army Reserve, where they drank beer and Larry shot up all the gifts he gave Karen. Master Sergeant Kilgore was sent to Chattahoochee to recruit the soldiers stationed there to go to Fallujah, Iraq, where the foreign war had intensified. Kilgore mistook the trio for soldiers and brought them to Fort Davis to train. Kilgore constantly swore at them and then announced that they were headed to Fallujah, Iraq and Larry would be the squad leader. Kilgore added that the soldiers needed to keep their hands to themselves and don’t ask and don’t tell in that man’s army. That night on the plane, Larry’s group couldn’t sleep so they fell asleep in an army jeep in the back. The plane had an overload malfunction, so all the gear was dropped out of the plane. The jeep with the imposter soldiers went down, as did Kilgore when he tried to rescue them. When Larry, Bill and Everett woke up in Iraq, they found Kilgore’s body and thought he was dead so they buried him (alive) in a shallow grave and said a few words to the Lord. Everett collected some of his urine and stored it at the crash site inside a canteen in case they needed to drink it when they ran out of water. They then packed up the jeep and took off into the desert, knocking over the Mexico City sign on the way out and not realizing they were in Mexico and not Iraq. When they got lost, Everett was in the mood to shoot something and Larry told him not to fire unless fired upon. However, trigger-happy Everett spotted two men and a mule, so he shot at them with intention to kill and the mule collapsed but then got up many minutes later. Larry couldn’t talk to the men because the only English word they spoke was “freedoms,” and then the trio followed the men to their village, La Miranda. Kilgore wasn’t dead after all and dug himself out of his grave. He tried to drink water from a flask and poured it all over himself, and he was irate when he discovered that it was urine. He wandered through the desert and asked two scary men for a ride to the next town, and they agreed and told each other in Spanish that they would take Kilgore to the house and do the usual. In La Miranda, the pretender soldiers discovered that a group of armed bandits, led by the infamous Carlos Santana, were stealing the villagers’ goods as they had done for years. The fakers decided they would take care of it, so they shot up the village with their machine guns. Everyone fled and Larry’s group was able to capture a bandit called Ricardo. Larry and Bill attended the party that the villagers had to celebrate the people who saved them. Senorita Maria Garcia introduced herself and her dad, Antonio Garcia who was the mayor of La Miranda (most people in the Mexican town spoke English). Bill introduced Larry as General Eisenhower, and the small squadron agreed to be the village’s protectors when in fact they were convinced backup was coming and they wanted to stay in La Miranda until they got rescued. Everett interrogated Ricardo, who laughed when he realized that the fakes thought they were in Iraq when they actually were in Mexico. Larry was worried that they would get in trouble for starting war in a sovereign nation, but Bill told him that the bandits were the definition of terrorists so the trio would be considered heroes for fighting them off. Meanwhile, a man who called himself, “The Amazing Ken” was kidnapped from a hotel in Cancun by the bandits so he could put on a show for Carlos at his lair using Rufus the puppet. Ken used Rufus to joke that all the Mexicans there looked like the front of Home Depot, and there were only $3,000 Mexicans at the Alamo because they only had four trucks. Rufus said he thought it was a gay bar, so Carlos shot the puppet. Everett woke up in the morning wearing a dress because he got drunk on tequila the previous night, and Everett and Bill hoped that Larry spent the night with Maria and he hadn’t gone loco and dressed like a woman on purpose. The trio fixed things in the town, and when they went to the crash site to retrieve supplies and saw Kilgore’s empty grave, the trio passed it off as grave robbers. The two crazy men made Kilgore “pretty,” by putting him in a dress, and they planned to have fun with him but he beat them up and took off on a motorcycle. A villager took Bill to a phone outside the village so he could call his wife Connie and tell her where he was and that he was working on a “government operation.” However, Carlos and his bandits then appeared with their guns and took Bill hostage. When Bill commented on Ruben, the gay bandit who was petting Bill, Carlos scolded him and said he couldn’t fire a person, especially not his nephew Ruben, for being gay because that was discrimination and someone could get sued for that. The bandits later showed up in La Miranda to attack the villagers because they didn’t pay Carlos’ tribute. There was a shootout and the bandits captured Kilgore. Later that night, Larry’s group went to Carlos’ lair to rescue Kilgore. He was forced to sing a Sonny and Cher duet with gay Ruben dressed up like a female, and the bandits planned to torture Kilgore by electrical shock. Larry rescued Kilgore, who then used dynamite to blow up the vehicle. Everett distracted the bandits by entertaining them with a wrestling show, but after he beat the other wrestler he took his mask off and revealed himself. Kilgore said they should leave La Miranda, but Larry wanted to stay and defend the village since the bandits would be back for revenge. Larry convinced the others to stay too, and another shootout commenced when the bandits appeared on horseback with a tank. Larry used the cannon that Everett had been fixing up to blow up the tank. Some of the villagers got out their guns and other weapons to chase the bandits away. Carlos invaded the church where the rest of the villagers were hiding. He took Maria hostage at gunpoint, and Larry tried to rescue her so Carlos decided he would kill both of them. Before he could, several army helicopters appeared and shot the gun out of Carlos’ hand. Larry knocked Carlos out, and Maria kissed Larry while the army came and arrested the bandits. Bill was shot in the butt, and he was informed that his wife called the Pentagon and had the cavalry go down to Mexico to get Bill. The news reported that Grammy-winning singer Carlos Santana, who everyone kept mistaking bandit Carlos for, was captured and Operation Sombrero was successful. The armed forces gave the army quartet awards, Kilgore started a boot camp workout system in Miami, Everett became “Carne Asada,” Mexico’s most popular professional wrestler, Bill sued the Mexican government for his injuries and then he and his family moved to a mansion in Beverly Hills, and Larry declined the offer to go to Washington and instead married Maria. They opened a cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, called “The Mess Hall,” because Maria had always wanted to run a cantina. After Carlos got out of rehab, he put on shows used Rufus the puppet. This film was dedicated to the real men and women serving in our armed forces all around the world.

TITLE:  The Emoji Movie

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for God’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2017 Sony Pictures Releasing / Sony Pictures Animation/Columbia Pictures

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began with the life of teenager Alex revolving around his phone like every high school freshman. He attended Tri-Country High School, and everyone with a phone used the emoji app so they didn’t have to type things out. The Emojis inside Alex’s phone lived in Textopolis, where Gene Meh, a Meh emoji constantly struggled to keep his I-don’t-care expression. Gene was upset that his parents Mel and Mary, masters of the “Meh,” expression, didn’t think he was ready for his first day on the job as an emoji because he was capable of making multiple expressions and was only supposed to make the “Meh” expression, but Gene convinced them to give him a chance. The working emojis each had their own cubes at the Text Center, where they were scanned and had to make their emoji face whenever Alex chose them to use in a text. Hi-Five, the hand emoji, was mad that he was no longer a favorite emoji and hadn’t been used in weeks. Alex picked Gene as a reply to a text from Addie McAllister, Alex’s crush. However, Gene freaked out and made the wrong face, and he created disaster in the cube room when he tried to run off. Addie thought Alex was strange for sending her a weird emoji. Gene’s parents thought it was best to lock Gene in the apartment to protect him, but he wanted to find his purpose so he went to the boardroom where the board meeting had just adjourned. Smiler, the first emoji ever created who was the system supervisor at the Text Center and was always smiling creepily no matter what her emotion was, informed Gene that he was a malfunction and needed to be deleted. Smiler called on the Anti-Virus Bots to do the job, and Gene ran away. Gene’s friend Hi-Five, the hand emoji, brought Gene to the Loser Lounge, where the rarely used emojis (like Hi-Five who Alex hadn’t used in weeks so Hi-Five was no longer allowed to hang out in the favorite emoji section) hung out. Gene and Hi-Five decided to leave Textopolis and go to the Piracy app (which Alex had disguised as the Dictionary to hide it from his parents), where they would get hacker emoji Jailbreak’s (who once got a princess out of Textopolis) help in reprogramming Gene to be a Meh and Hi-Five back to the top of the VIP list. Hi-Five had already been out of the app before, and he showed Gene the Wallpaper where there were different worlds for different apps. Once Jailbreak learned that Gene was a malfunction, she helped Gene and Hi-Five escape the AV Bots when they appeared. When Gene got stuck in the Candy Crush app, Jailbreak and Hi-Five played the game to free Gene. As Alex tried to ask Addie to the school dance, his Candy Crush app started speaking and Addie thought it was weird and walked away. Alex made an appointment with the phone store the following day to erase his malfunctioning phone. Jailbreak announced that they needed to get to the Dropbox, which would get them uploaded to the “cloud” (located off the phone) where Hacker could find the source code to reprogram Gene. Jailbreak also wanted to live on the cloud because it was the only place she could be whatever she wanted to be and anywhere else she would have to be a princess or a bride. Mary and Mel left to find Gene, but Mel blamed his wife for the disaster at the Text Center because she sided with Gene and thought he was ready to be an emoji. The couple went their separate ways since Mary didn’t believe Mel was the Meh she married. When Gene’s group went through the Just Dance app, Hi-Five accidentally turned it on. That alerted the AV Bots to their location and meant they now they had to dance their way out or face digital death. Hi-Five was confident that he could shake it like Michael’sglove with “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go played (George Michael), and they followed dancer Akiko Glitter’s moves. Akiko loved Gene’s “Emoji Pop,” freestyle dance, and Jailbreak lost herself to the music and took off her blue-haired wig to reveal that she was Princess Linda who left Textopolis. The Bots then appeared and Alex’s phone started talking again, which embarrassed him in class so he trashed the app. Hi-Five didn’t get out of the app and was trashed along with it, and Jailbreak didn’t think they should travel all the way back to the other side of the phone to rescue Hi-Five out of the trash since they were close to the Dropbox. Gene wasn’t going anywhere without Hi-Five, so Jailbreak agreed to take a shortcut by riding the music streams in Spotify in a boat. Jailbreak told Gene he was cool the way he was. Mary went into Alex’s “trip to Paris,” photo album Instagram, where Mel was also. He revealed that he had multiple emotions like Gene, but Mel didn’t know it until now when he felt many emotions and all his emoji faces came out. Mel and Mary made amends and went to go find their son together. The trio encountered a Bot that Smiler used the illegal upgrade on, but they made it to the Dropbox where the Bot couldn’t follow them. They encountered the firewall that stood between them and the cloud, and Jailbreak had already tried once to get past it but she failed and was locked out for life. Since the firewall used face identification, Gene used his many expressions and the different possibilities for passwords that Jailbreak gave him based on Alex’s favorite things. Gene was blown up each time he got a wrong answer, and then Hi-Five mentioned that he saw an email in the trash that Alex wrote to Addie, the girl he liked, but he never sent it and trashed it instead. “Addie,” was Alex’s password and the trio was granted access to the “cloud,” where Jailbreak did the hack to reprogram Gene. He then realized that he wanted to stay the way he was if it meant he could stay with Jailbreak forever, and he professed his love to her but she didn’t feel the same way because she wasn’t a princess waiting for her prince. Gene, now a Meh, walked away and a Bot grabbed him. Jailbreak took off her wig to reveal the princess under her disguise, and she whistled to bring the Twitter bird to her. She and Hi-Five rode the Twitter bird to Textopolis, where Mel told Smiler that he had the same malfunction as Gene. Smiler ordered for the father and son Meh to be destroyed and also the Poop emoji who protested, but then Jailbreak and Hi-Five appeared. They hacked the Bot and pressed the off button. Alex was at the phone store about to delete everything, and then he spotted Addie in the store but he didn’t know how to tell her how he felt about her. Jailbreak said she could send a text through to Alex to help him figure out what to say, and then he wouldn’t delete all his apps or doubt the reliability of the emojis. Princess Linda told Gene to be himself, so he sent Alex an emoji with many feelings in one. Alex sent it to Addie, and she was happy about it and said she would love to go to the dance with Alex. Alex stopped the phone factory reset deletion seconds before it finished, and all the apps and emojis came back onto the phone. Everyone cheered for Gene, and a party was thrown for him and it was announced that the favorites section was open to everyone, including the lesser-used emojis. The emojis danced the Emoji Pop with multiple expressions. This movie had a budget of $50 million and grossed over $217 million at the box office.

TITLE:  Dirty Dancing

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1987 Artisan Entertainment / Great American Films Limited Partnership / Vestron Pictures / Lionsgate

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began in 1963, before Kennedy was shot and when 17-year-old Frances Houseman couldn’t wait to join the Peace Corps and didn’t think there was anybody in the world as good as her doctor dad. That year everyone called Frances “Baby,” and she, her parents Jake and Marge, and her sister Lisa traveled to the Kellerman’s Mountain House resort in New York State for a vacation. Max Kellerman, the owner of the resort, was one of Dr. Jake’s patients (Jake saved the life of Max), so Max made sure the Housemans got the best cabin and he assigned Yale medical student Robbie Gould to be the Housemans’ waiter. Max warned adult Johnny Castle, a dance instructor, to give the daughters dance lessons to keep them happy but to do nothing more than that and keep his hands off them. Johnny and his partner Penny Johnson did the mambo at a dance that evening. Later on, Baby wasn’t interested in any of the activities so she wandered away to the staff quarters where guests weren’t allowed. She heard loud music and convinced employee Billy Kostecki to let her into the building as long as she didn’t tell. The staff quarters were filled with adults partying and dirty dancing as they did every night, and Billy told Baby that Max would shut the place down if he caught people dancing like that on the main floor. Penny and Johnny (Billy’s cousin who got Billy the job at the resort) took center stage, and when Johnny noticed that Baby was watching him he took her on the floor and taught her a couple of dirty moves. The next day, Baby asked Penny if she used to be a Rockette and Penny confirmed that she was and her mom kicked her out of the house when she was sixteen. Penny had been dirty dancing ever since and it was all she had wanted to do anyway. Max told the Housemans that Vivian Pressman was a bungalow bunny, meaning she hooked up with the staff members all week and her husband Moe only came around on the weekends to play cards. Max’s grandson Neil, who was training to become a hotel manager, hung out with Baby and told her that her parents would be happy to hear they were together. Baby wasn’t interested. Baby then she saw Penny crying in the kitchen and told Billy and Johnny. It came out that Penny was pregnant but it was Robbie the creep who knocked her up and not Johnny and (Yale med student) Robbie knew all about it but didn’t think it was his or his problem to deal with. Penny thought it was hopeless because the guys’ salaries weren’t enough to cover her abortion. Baby told Penny it wasn’t hopeless, and Penny took Jesus’ name in vain and said Baby didn’t know anything about her problems. Billy went on to say that a camp counselor mentioned how a real MD would be in the area for only one day, and they could get Penny an abortion if they came up with $250.Later on, Baby told Robbie not to leave Penny after what he did, and he replied that there was no telling if the child was his because Penny was with a bunch of other guys. Baby told Robbie to stay away from her and her older sister Lisa, who Robbie was hanging around with, or Baby would have Robbie fired. Baby asked her dad to loan her the $250 so she could help someone but Baby wouldn’t give him a name. Dr. Jake only agreed to the loan after Baby confirmed that she wasn’t in trouble and the money wasn’t for something illegal. Baby tried to give Penny the money, but she said she couldn’t take it because she and Johnny had to do a mambo show at the Sheldrake hotel on the same day the doctor was in town. If they canceled, they would lose that season’s salary and next year’s gig. Johnny suggested as a joke that Baby take Penny’s place, but the other convinced Johnny that it wasn’t a terrible idea so they went through with it. Johnny and Penny taught Baby how to dirty dance, as Baby often wore her sports bra and underwear tard to the lessons in hopes of learning to dance the mambo with her adult partner to songs such as “Hungry Eyes.” Two days before the show, Baby argued with Johnny about how he refused to teach her all the moves and she wasn’t confident, so Johnny took Baby into the woods to teach her balance for the lift on a log and in the water. On the night of the show, Penny told Baby that she didn’t sleep around like Robbie said and she thought she and Robbie had something special. Baby asked big sis Lisa to cover for her by telling their parents that Baby was in bed with a headache and for Lisa to go check on her absent sis to make the lie convincing. After the Magic Mambo show (Baby had a few missteps and didn’t do the complicated lift move but she and Johnny were applauded and did well), Baby and Johnny returned to the staff quarters where Penny was in bed in extreme pain. Billy explained that the doctor wasn’t a real MD after all, and he used a dirty knife and a table for the abortion. Penny screamed during the fake doctor abortion operation but Billy couldn’t get inside to help her in time as the door was locked. Baby ran off and woke doctor daddy Jake up, and Dr. Jake treated Penny on the spot but was upset about how Baby used the money and told her to never associate with those people ever again. (It never said anything about reporting the incident to the police so the crazy nut doing the illegal abortion operations no doubt moved to the next town and butchered other women and babies the same way). However, as soon as dad left his daughter alone, Baby sneaked out of the cabin and immediately went to see Johnny, and he told her that he was a nobody and she was brave for asking her dad for help. Underage Baby replied she was scared of leaving that place and never being able to feel again the way she felt when she was with adult Johnny. The minor teen girl and the adult man dirty danced and then had sex. The next morning, Jake announced that they were leaving early and going home the following day. Lisa protested because she had planned to sing in the talent show, so Jake revised his statement and said they would stay until the end of their visit. Baby went to see Penny, who said that Dr. Jake assured her she would be okay and could still have children. Penny saw the change of behavior in Johnny and Baby and knew that Baby and Johnny were together sexually. After baby left the room, Penny warned Johnny not to mix with the guest anymore. On a rainy day, Baby told her parents she was going to a game of charades when she actually went to Johnny’s cabin in the woods to have sex with him. Baby asked Johnny if he had been with many women, and he said that the women guests at the resort threw themselves all over him and used him (male prostitute). Later that night, Lisa told Baby that she decided to go all the way with Robbie. Baby told her not to with someone like Robbie, and Lisa thought Baby was jealous that she wasn’t daddy’s girl anymore and Jake now listened to Lisa. Neil almost caught Baby and Johnny dirty dancing, but he didn’t and suggested that Johnny do the pachenga instead of the mambo as usual for the final dance of the season. Johnny agreed because Neil threatened to find another dancer if Johnny’s didn’t do the pachanga. Baby and Johnny then argued again and he said he didn’t think she ever had any intention of telling her dad she was with Johnny. Baby told Johnny to fight harder and tell Max his new ideas about dirty dancing, but Johnny was skeptical because he didn’t want to lose his job for the next season. When Robbie came around Penny’s cabin, Johnny attacked him but then decided Robbie wasn’t worth the fight. Vivian wanted to hook up with Johnny one more time since her husband Moe was there for his gambling card games. Moe tried to offer Johnny money to give Vivian “extra” (sex) dance lessons, but Johnny said he was already booked up. Lisa decided to go to Robbie’s cabin to have sex with him, but Vivian beat her to it and as Vivian was there having sex with Robbie. When Vivian spotted Baby leaving Johnny’s cabin, she was jealous and tried to frame Johnny for stealing Moe’s wallet. Johnny’s alibi was reading in his room, but Neil said Johnny didn’t have any books in his cabin and three other wallets had been stolen. Baby defended Johnny by telling Max, and dad Jake who was also there, that she knew Johnny was in his room all night because she was there with Johnny (having sex). Baby apologized to Jake for lying to him, and she said she wasn’t proud of herself but if Jake loved her he had to love everything about her and not ignore her. Johnny later told Baby that Sylvia and Sidney Schumacher, the elderly couple that Baby suspected stole the wallets, were found guilty of all the thefts and were wanted for stealing at other places they traveled to as well. However, Johnny was fired anyway because he had an affair with underage Baby but he would still get his summer bonus if he left on the spot and kept quiet about what happened at the prestigious resort so it wouldn’t get in the news. Johnny confronted Jake and said that Jake wanted Baby to be like him as someone people could look up to, and Johnny believed that Baby was like that even if she was not in the doctor/lawyer/businessperson kind of way that Jake was hoping for. Dr. Jake replied (not knowing Yale med student Robbie dating his eldest daughter was responsible for the unwanted pregnancy) that Johnny sent Penny to be butchered while he moved on to innocent young Baby. Johnny and Baby said their goodbyes and Johnny left the resort. Johnny later showed up at the talent show and said that nobody puts Baby in the corner, so he took Baby onstage to dirty dance and announced that he would do the final dance of the season his way with someone who taught him to stand up for people who needed help and taught him about the kind of person he wanted to be. Johnny and Baby dirty danced and Baby accomplished the lift move and the whole crowd joined in on the dirty dancing. Jake said he was wrong and he knew Johnny wasn’t the one who got Penny in trouble, and the movie ended with teen Baby and adult Johnny kissing. This movie had a $4.5 million budget and grossed over $214 million at the box office.

REASON: This movie takes place in New York and the main character is August “Auggie” Pullman, a ten-year-old boy born with a facial deformity. Auggie liked Minecraft, Star Wars, science, and dressing up for Halloween, and he wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up so he constantly wore a NASA helmet mask to hide his face. There was a scene where Auggie’s dad, Nate, videoed Auggie’s birth with a teenage doctor (think Doggie Howser) helping. Special needs Auggie had 27 surgeries since birth to help him breathe, see, hear and improve his facial features. Auggie’s stay at home mom, Isabel, decided that she didn’t want to homeschool Auggie anymore and wanted her freedom so she and Nate agreed to put Auggie in public school at the start of fifth grade. Lawrence Tushman, the Beecher Middle School principal, told Auggie and Isabel about the science fair and the school field trip to the Broarwood Nature Reserve in Pennsylvania. Tushman assigned Jack Will, Julian Albans and Charlotte Cody to be Auggie’s welcome buddies and give him a tour. Julian treated Auggie rudely and kept mentioning his face. At home, Nate advised Auggie not to let people like Julian push him around and to push back instead, and Nate told Auggie to only raise his hand once during class and not answer all the questions even though he knew the answers, except in science class where he could crush them all because he was a science whiz. Julian and his school gang bullied Auggie, called him Barf Hideous and made fun of the braid on the back of his head, so Auggie cut the braid off when he got home from school. Auggie didn’t want to talk about his day at dinner and Auggie cried hysterically because the kids at school were mean to him, and Isabel told him he wasn’t ugly and thing would get better. Auggie’s older sister, Olivia “Via”, narrated that she was responsible for her age and never needed her parents to remind her to do things or help her with her homework because she did it in hospital waiting rooms during Auggie’s surgeries. However, Via felt left out when her parents didn’t ask her about her day and they devoted all their time to Via’s special needs brother. Via knew her family loved her, but ever since her grandmother died, Via’s best friend Miranda Navas was the only person who knew her. However, when Via returned to William Faulkner High School, Miranda had dyed pink streaks in her hair and wore a nose ring. She had ignored Via’s texts for two weeks after she returned from camp, and Miranda and Via had a very brief conversation as if they hardly knew each other and then Miranda went to sit with her new friends. Via met Justin Hollander and liked him immediately, and she lied that she was an only child like him and then she drew hearts in her notebook and fantasized about having Justin’s last name. Via went on to narrate that her mom Isabel had wanted to be a children’s book illustrator and teach art, and she was just about to get her master’s degree when Auggie was born. Isabel stopped in the middle of her last thesis and hadn’t written since, but she continued to draw and the art now all centered around Auggie. Via said Miranda used to say that the Pullman house was like the Earth and centered around the son (sun) and not the daughter. Via hoped her mom would pay attention to her, and she decided to join theater because Justin did. To make a friend at school, Auggie showed his science pop quiz test answers to Jack when Ms. Petosa wasn’t looking. Jack copied the answers but he wrote a couple wrong answers down in the classroom so Ms. Petosa wouldn’t know that Auggie helped him. Instead of sitting with Julian as usual, Jack went to sit with Auggie who always sat alone. Auggie invited Jack to his house so he could help Jack with science, and Auggie announced that Halloween was his favorite holiday and he liked it better than Christmas, but said he liked Christmas best. Auggie added that for Halloween he was going as Boba Fett from Star Wars. Justin suggested that Via audition for Emily, the lead character in “Our Town.” Via was skeptical and Justin told her that children without siblings needed to stick together and he would applaud her since she had no family who would. Via traveled all the way to Coney Island by herself and sat on the beach, where she had a flashback of her and her grandma sitting there. Grandma said that Via was her favorite child and she gave Via her necklace. Auggie was upset when Daisy, the family dog, threw up on Auggie‘s Boba Fett (Star Wars) costume, so he had to dress up as Ghost Face (Scream mask) from the previous year. Isabel finally picked up that Via missed her grandma after her dad said she went to Coney Island alone, so Isabel suggested that Via stay home from school (skip school) for Halloween and make it a three-day weekend. Auggie went to school for the Halloween party dressed in his costume. Julian and his classmates didn’t know it was Auggie standing in the doorway because he was wearing his ghost mask (not star wars). Jack told the other kids in the classroom (no teacher present) that he would kill himself if he looked like Auggie, and Jack added that Principal Tushman wanted him to be Auggie’s welcome buddy and then Auggie started following Jack everywhere. Isabel and Via watched Dirty Dancing on Halloween and it showed the part where Patrick said the line about nobody putting Baby in the corner. Isabel’s solution to fix Via’s problem of Miranda gone astray was to eat an entire bucket of jack-lantern candy. Isabel then got a call from Principal Tushman, so mom rushed off to pick Auggie up from school because he threw up. Via threw the TV remote across the room and later felt invisible as Isabel and Nate ignored her and tried to figure out where Auggie’s missing space helmet mask was. Via got dressed up and asked Auggie what was wrong, and he screamed that he hated school and Via couldn’t relate to his situation. She informed Auggie that she didn’t have anybody at school either, as Miranda wasn’t her friend anymore. Brother and sister made amends and went trick-or-treating after Via told Auggie they were each other’s best friends. Isabel finished her thesis dissertation. Jack narrated that he didn’t want to show Auggie around school, but his mom Amanda convinced him to be nice to Auggie and help him. Jack admitted that now he wanted to be friends with Auggie, but Auggie didn’t want to hang out. When Charlotte’s friends joked about how Jack must have touched Auggie and contracted “the plague,” because he didn’t wash his hands in time, Summer Dawson got up from their table and went to sit with Auggie and be friends with him. Miranda got Emily’s part in the play and Via got Emily’s understudy. Justin said he would help Via practice, starting with the kissing scene on page 110. That page was non-existent, but Justin and Via kissed anyway because that was what he wanted to do. Via admitted that she wasn’t an only child and mentioned that Auggie turned out deformed because of the genetic disorder caused from the genes of both Isabel and Nate. Via took Justin to her house then and introduced Justin to her mom. The cool mom left abruptly to go to the grocery store with Auggie to get ingredients for feijoada, dad’s favorite dinner, and the parent left the two young teens together alone in the house, having just met Justin. Isabel told Justin to stay for dinner and she ignored the fact that Daisy was in the backyard and just threw up bucket loads and walked out the door with her son to go shopping. After Miranda saw Via and Justin together, Miranda called Auggie to say hi to him. She told him to call her anytime and to tell Via that Miranda missed her. Miranda narrated that the Pullmans were like her second family and Auggie was like her little brother. Via and Miranda’s families used to celebrate Christmas together, but now Miranda’s dad was married to his boss and Miranda’s mom mostly ignored her. Miranda got a job at summer camp so she didn’t have to be at home, and she became the most popular girl at camp when she lied that Via’s family was her own and everyone wanted to talk to Miranda and know all about her little brother. Miranda then realized that Via was cool and she wanted to be friends with her again. As Auggie hung out with Summer and they celebrated Christmas, Via and Justin kissed on New Year’s. When Jack asked Summer about Auggie, she told him that Auggie dressed up as Ghost Face (Scream mask) for Halloween and Jack realized that Auggie overheard what he said to the others. Jack then picked Auggie as his partner on a school project and then Julian called Auggie a freak so Jack punched Julian and the kids started fighting in the hallway. Jack wrote a note to Principal Tushman apologizing for what he did, and Tushman wrote back that he understood what started the fight and Jack was sticking up for Auggie, but nothing justified violence among the students so Jack was suspended from school for two days. Isabel and Nate found out about the play, and wanted to go because Justin was in it. Via was upset and said that her parents had always neglected her and now that Auggie was in school they were bored and suddenly wanted to interfere in Via’s life. Isabel later told Auggie that she was going to stay home with him while Nate attended the play because the storyline of Our Town (when really Isabel was still upset with Via and didn’t want to go). Auggie thought it was because Via didn’t want to be seen with her freak-faced brother, so he stormed off. Isabel finally noticed that Daisy wasn’t feeling well, so she took Daisy to the vet where Nate would meet her there and left Via to take care of Auggie. Via told Auggie that Daisy was old and in a lot of pain, and then Via invited her brother to her play to get his mind off from Daisy. Isabel and Nate returned home without Daisy because died from them deciding to put the dog down. Auggie and Jack chatted over Minecraft, and Jack apologized and corrected his statement that he would kill himself if he looked like Julian. Jack and Auggie agreed to be civil and hang out again. Justin went into the girls’ dressing room backstage of the play to wish Miranda good luck, and he told her that Via’s family would cheer Miranda on as well since her dad was on his belated honeymoon and her mom was in a funk. Miranda then pretended to be sick so Via could take her place as Emily, the lead character. The play “Our Town,” was written by Thornton Wilder and took place in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Via’s role as Emily ended in death. Jack and Auggie’s project at the science fair was a camera obscura and they won first place. Julian was found out for bullying Auggie at the school for many weeks. Later, in Principal Tushman he showed Julian’s parents Sarah (wrongly listed as Melissa on Wiki) and Richard the class photo where Julian Photoshopped Auggie out of it and wrote, “no freaks allowed,” and “do everyone a favor and die.” Sarah said she Photoshopped Auggie out of the picture because she wanted people to ask about her son and not the special boy. Tushman dismissed it and added that when they pressed the bully boy on the issue, they retrieved other nasty notes that Julian left for Auggie around school. Sarah went on to say that she and Richard took Julian to a child psychologist to deal with the night terrors that Julian had as a result of being around Auggie. Tushman suspended Julian from school for two days and banned him from attending the nature preserve trip even though Sarah and Richard pointed out they put a lot of money into the school and had friends on the school board (The principal said he had more friends on the board). Tushman suggested that since Auggie couldn’t change the way he looked, they should change the way they saw. Sarah announced that Julian wouldn’t be coming back to that school in the fall, and Julian seemed upset because he liked it there (lead bully boy) and he apologized to Tushman as his parents waited in the hall. The schools went on their field trip to the Pennsylvania preserve, where they participated in camp activities. Isabel surprised Nate with her finished thesis, and she suggested they get drunk on wine. Meanwhile, many miles away and in a different state, young Auggie and Jack didn’t want to watch The Wizard of Oz with the other kids, so they went into the woods where they peed because they didn’t go back at the preserve. However, a few seventh-graders interrupted them and used Jesus’ name as a swear word when they saw ugly Auggie. They pushed the two younger boys around and called them boyfriends, and then everyone started fighting until Julian’s three friends came to their rescue and fought off the older kids (no adults present and none were aware the young boys disappeared on the field trip). Nate later confessed to Auggie that he hid his space helmet mask because Auggie wore it all the time and Nate missed seeing his son’s face. Auggie forgave Nate and said he didn’t want the helmet back. At the fifth-grade graduation ceremony, Auggie thanked Isabel for making him go to school and she told him he was a wonder. Principal Tushman quoted Henry Ward Beecher, who the school was named after, about how greatness came not from how strong he or she was, but from how he or she used their strength. Principal Tushman then awarded the Beecher Prep medal to Auggie to honor him for being a notable student and because his quiet strength carried up the most hearts. Auggie narrated that everyone deserved a standing ovation in their lives and he thanked his friends and teachers and also his dad for making him laugh, his sister for being there for him and his mom for never giving up on him. Auggie quoted Mr. Browne’s last precept about being kind because everyone was fighting a hard battle and to just look if you really wanted to see what people were. This movie had a budget of $20 million and grossed over $306 million at the box office. The movie cover art listed, Bill Zwecker, Chicago Sun-Times, “Inspiring & uplifting.” Mark S. Allen, ABC TV, “The perfect film for the entire family.”

REASON: This movie started in Malibu, California at the home of Brad Gluckman (rapper name B-Rad G) who hung out at the mall with his gang, Mocha, Monster and Hadji (the Beast from the Middle East). The other California gangs were the beach boys and the ACCs (the Abused Children of Celebrities). Brad’s dad Bill was running for California governor, so Brad and his gang crashed the rally. Bill’s campaign managers, led by Tom Gibbons, suggested they give Brad the job of making campaign signs and hoped his gangster son would be able to accomplish that simple task. However, Brad wrote a sign for everyone to see that said candidate Bill was down with the bit*es and the ho’s instead of saying that Bill supported women and would make sure they had better jobs and health care if he was elected. Bill and his wife Bess then took Brad to psychiatrist Dr. Feldman to be analyzed, and Brad explained that he had wanted to be a rapper since he was 3 years old when he first heard hip-hop music. When he was 13 at his bar mitzvah, he chose the theme O.P.P. (slang “Opponent or Enemy”) and danced sexy with bikini-clad women. Bill told Brad that he couldn’t help with the campaign anymore, and Dr. Feldman could do nothing for Brad. Bill’s people suggested that he hire Sean James and P.J., two black actors from a previous campaign commercial, to play as gangsters. The plan was for the actors to carjack Brad, take him on a tour of the real ghetto and give him a dose of hood reality in order to scare the black out of Brad and make him want to be white. Sean and P.J. were worried about getting shot in the ghetto and they were upset that they were always picked to act as gangbangers and not educated people. The actors agreed since it would be a huge payout after Tom informed them that they would be paid $15,000 each once they scared Brad white, and they were given a $5,000 advance. Sean and P.J. met with P.J.’s cousin Shondra, who lived in the South Central ghetto where she wanted to open a beauty parlor and she recently dumped her boyfriend Tec, the leader of the I-9 gang. Shondra only agreed to help the actors with their scheme when they agreed to pay her $3,000. Sean “Bloodbath” and P.J. “Tree” ordered fake replicas of guns and gangster clothes, and Sean practiced how to do the carjack at gunpoint and scream at Brad the bit** to get out of the car or Bloodbath would kill him (This is R rated material). Shondra (acting her paid part) walked into a coffee shop dressed in her sexy attire so Brad would notice her, and she invited him to the swap meet where she met Dr. Dre so she could talk to him about the “Mali-bootay” rap CD that Brad recorded and sent to Dre but he hadn’t responded. Brad decided to call Shondra “Mothra,” because she was a cross between Martha Stewart and Oprah. Blood and Tree then kidnapped Brad (because Shondra told the other actors where to find Brad) and brought him to Shondra’s house. They pretended to be offended and called Brad a wigger when he said he was one of them, and then they tied him in the bedroom. Shondra (in on the scheme) told Brad that the gangsters threatened to kill her if she didn’t set Brad up, but she might be able to convince them to let Brad go if he stopped posing and started being a white boy. Brad refused, so Bloodbath and Tree told Brad it wasn’t a picnic, bit**, and took him to the Korean-ownedliquor store to steal some alcohol for them. Brad was instructed to use a fake gun against the cashier, but he ended up paying for the alcohol because it turned out Bloodbath and Tree forgot to organize the robbery and the store owner, his wife and young son all had real guns that they pointed at Brad when he tried to walk out of the store. Bill and Tom had massages before their meeting with Greenpeace and offshore oil lobby. Bloodbath pretended to be angry that Brad didn’t rob the store and he acted like he was going to kill Brad, so Brad talked normal for a few minutes but then reverted back to his gangster ways and insisted that being a rapper was just who he was. Bloodbath and Tree took Brad to the club, where the actors paid $200 to have Brad do a rap battle against other rappers to prove himself. Tec, Shondra’s ex-boyfriend and real gangster on the streets, was there and started pushing Shondra around until Brad interrupted. Tec (black) thought Shondra (black) was with the white boy and he tried to push Brad over the two-story railing, but Shondra convinced Tec not to. Shondra told Brad to leave, but he insisted that his only shot at being a real rapper was to do the battle. The people who got paid said hell no to a white boy rapping and added that they didn’t know Dairy Queen had a rap label. Brad rapped anyway and pulled his pants down to show his butt crack, but everyone thought it was lame and weak compared to the professionals. When Brad rapped the n-word, everything went crickets silent and Brad was booed, carried offstage and thrown into a dumpster. Bloodbath and Tree rescued Brad and told him they were going to smoke him in the morning since his pops called and wasn’t going to pay the ransom. Brad replied that he didn’t care and had nothing to live for. Shondra tried to console Brad back at the house, and he asked her to kiss him. He tried to take it further, though, so Shondra pushed him off the bed and stormed out. Brad later had a nightmare where a talking rat named Ronnie Rizzat appeared and told Brad that he needed to be himself but he couldn’t be a rapper because his rhymes were lame. When Brad woke up, he overheard Bloodbath and Tree on the phone asking for another advance on the money they were being paid for the staged kidnapping because Shondra wanted to have her $3,000 now so she could leave. Tom (advisor to Bill on his governor campaign) insisted the actors would get the rest of the money once Brad was done posing. Brad realized he was being played and he confronted Bloodbath and Tree. He mentioned the kiss with Shondra in the other room (she was paid to do) and then stormed outside and got in the car saying it was a good day to die. However, Tec and the I-9s then appeared on the street with real guns. They said they were voting for Bill because of the sign that Brad made, and then they decided to get ransom for Brad and took him and the three actors hostage. Tec’s real California street gang took them to the park in the dark, where Tec called Tom and told him he had ten minutes to come up with a $500,000 ransom otherwise Tec would kill Brad. Tom and the campaign team decided that they wouldn’t give Tec the money because if Brad died, that would send Bill on the warpath to win the election and gain the votes of the gays that they couldn’t win without (Bill already went up six points in the polls since Brad left). Tec decided he would shoot Brad, and then the real street Hispanic gangs appeared with their guns. Brad jumped up on top of the car and wildly shot off two real looking and sounding machine guns, which sent the Hispanics running. Brad claimed that he learned the violent attack from Grand Theft Auto 3 on PS2, and Tec was disappointed because he only had a GameCast. Tec and his gang then became best buddies with Brad because Brad saved their lives. They had a party at Tec’s house, where he gave Brad a real gun to initiate him into their gang telling him the only way out of his gang was dead in a box. Brad’s parents, Shondra and Brad’s Malibu hommies watched the news which featured video footage of Brad, called the White Kong and thought to be the ringleader of a South Central street gang, shooting up the park. Bill wanted to go get Brad, and Tom said that they could turn Brad’s gang situation into a positive and tried to convince Bill not to go by telling him that if he missed the governor debate in Sacramento the following day he would lose the election. Bill said he didn’t care about the election anymore and fired Tom on the spot. Shondra showed up at Tec’s house party and interrupted Brad on the bed with two black gangbanger women taking off white Brad’s pants. After the other two females left because of Shondra’s lies, Shondra told Brad the I-9s were real. Brad didn’t believe her and figured if the gun were real it wouldn’t leave a bullet in his foot so he shot his foot for real with a real bullet. When Tec appeared, it looked from his angle like Brad and Shondra were doing something sexual as she inspected his foot and announced that the bullet only grazed his foot. Tec pointed his gun at Brad, but Shondra stepped in front of Brad. Bill and Brad’s hommies tracked Brad’s car using a security system to Tec’s house, and they both crashed their vehicles into Tech’s house at that moment. Both gangs pointed their weapons at each other (guns for the I-9s and a musket, spear and rocket propelled grenade launcher for Brad’s crew) as Brad and Bill made amends. Bill said he would try to be a better dad after Bill was neglectful and absent from Brad’s life for more than two decades. Brad rapped to try to unite everyone and take away their weapons, but that led to the spear ending up in Brad’s private parts and the grenade being shot off into the oven. Everyone fled the house right before it exploded, and 911 came to put the fire out. News reporter Soon-Yee Baxter Hernandez interviewed Bloodbath and Tree, and the paid actors lied that they tried to keep the peace among the gangsters, and a white man named White Kong caused the explosion, and the explosion was a metaphor for the anger in their hearts. Brad and Shondra kissed in the back of the ambulance as Brad’s wounds were being nursed, and the two were still kissing at the grand opening of Shondra’s beauty salon in the hood. “Play That Funky Music (White Boy)” played as Bill won the governor election. The movie cover art listed Thelma Adams, US Weekly, “Big laughs in a plain white rapper.” Shawn Edwards, FOX-TV, “A hip-hop comedy classic for everyone from the ‘burbs to the block.”

REASON: This movie takes place in California, where two female scientists, Dr. Summers and the other unnamed, had been working on an invisibility formula called I-Shield 2040 in their lab. They used a compound from Miami to successfully create the serum. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Ray Underwood (movie cover art said he was 9) was convinced something wasn’t right in the neighborhood, so he and his friend Belcher did surveillance on the neighbors who they suspected were terrorists and Mafia members. When Ray’s parents Diane and Frank found out that lil Ray put a listening device in the Dunn house, they were upset that their son did something illegal but were glad that the Dunns wouldn’t press charges. Ray said he was protecting the neighborhood and Mr. Franzoni was a mobster because he went out at night. Frank corrected Ray that Mr. Franzoni was a police detective on the night shift. Krepner, the janitor at the lab, pretended to be Italian talking to his mom on the phone when he was actually recording the code that one of the female scientists used to open a locked room which contained the invisibility vial. Krepner stole the vial and planned to use the technology to get rich quick, and he started packing up his house (which was right across from Ray’s house so he noticed that Krepner was moving out). Belcher and Ray’s friend Lucy wanted the boys to go to the mall with her, but Diane wouldn’t allow Ray to go unaccompanied because he was irresponsible.Diane made a deal with Ray that he could go to the mall without her if he took Harry to the vet while Diane and Frank went to a convention for Frank’s wide-shoe salesman job. When the scientists discovered that the formula was missing, they called in FBI agents Wolf and Fox to recover the vial. The agents argued about how they both had the same job but Fox had a higher security clearance than Wolf. Wolf believed Fox was too goofy to be an agent and they were only paired up as partners because he dumped his boss’s daughter. Dr. Summers explained that the classified invisibility project they had been working on was for the navy and they needed the vial back because anyone could use it for anything, including breaking into banks or the White House. Fox and Wolf used the security footage at the lab to track Krepner’s car to his house. When Lucy came to Ray’s house, she let Harry out the door and all the kids chased him into Krepner’s house. The vial of liquid was knocked over and spilled onto Krepner’s burger, which Harry then ate and Harry the dog turned invisible. Harry ran off and the three kids split up to find him. Krepner’s boss, the wealthy Spanish-speaking Miss Mendez, was mad that Krepner lost the formula and told him to find the dog so they could drain him of all his blood and then extract the serum from the blood. Krepner kidnapped tween Belcher, tied him up at his house and told him that the FBI would be looking for the kids because Harry was their dog. When Belcher refused to talk, Krepner stuck a “truth serum,” spray up Belcher’s nose (which he thought was for sinuses).  Agents Fox and Wolf then came to the door to ask Krepner some questions, and kid Belcher managed to get free of his restraints. Belcher and Krepner pretended they were father and son, and then Belcher ran off to find his school buddies. Not long after, Belcher started acting goofy and dizzy, and he told the truth whenever he was asked a question. Only by vomiting was Belcher able to get the serum drug out of his system. When Ray’s parents called him, he liedthat he was at the vet and he had Lucy and Belcher make animal noises in the background to make it convincing. FBI Agents Fox and Wolf did a stakeout and thought Krepner was insane for chasing Harry and rolling around on the ground crying and screaming as invisible Harry peed in the man’s face and mouth. The agents realized the dog was invisible and decided they would record Harry’s barks and send them to the office to be analyzed so the dog breed and owner could be identified. However, the feds got it wrong because they ended up going to a house that belonged to an eccentric female who said Fluffy was dead but she made the dog into a neck pillow to sleep with. The kids went back to the house, where Harry magically reappeared. They tried to hose Harry down with water to make him visible, but it didn’t work. The agents then appeared to arrest the kids for being in possession of government property (since the FBI told the underage children without parents around that the FBI could do whatever they wanted to), and Lucy said that she couldn’t go to jail because she had to watch Gossip Girl and to arrest the boys instead. Miss Mendez and her goons (Krepner and another man) then appeared. Crooked female ringleader Mendez gassed the FBI agents, abducted the kids and took them to her house. Mendez planned to kill Harry by draining all his blood and then eliminate the kids. Krepner was upset when he found out that South American (such as Columbia) accent Mendez had a Ukrainian husband because she promised Krepner a date. After the FBI agents woke up, Fox realized that his phone was gone (because he dropped it and Lucy picked it up) and the agent used his partner Wolf’s phone to track the missing device to Miss Mendez’s house since it had a search feature. Ray and Lucy convinced Belcher to “fart like a god,” which made the bad guys’ eyes and face burn and brake down in tears over it. The FBI appeared and arrested the three criminals, and the agents drove the kids back to Ray’s house because his parents called to say they were headed home early. Just as Diane and Frank’s car pulled up outside, Harry suddenly became visible again. Diane announced that she called the vet and they told her that Ray didn’t bring Harry in, and Diane wanted an explanation but Ray said it was complicated. FBI Agents Fox and Wolf then came to thank Harry for helping stop a hardened criminal who stole government secrets. Even though nobody was allowed to tell the parents, Diane and Frank, what really happened because it was classified information, the questionable parents decided that Ray was responsible because he helped “protect his country.”

TITLE:  Kids In America

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2005  Screen Media Films / Rainstorm Entertainment/Launchpad Releasing / Slowhand Cinema / Andrew Shaifer Productions

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie is (appallingly) inspired by real events and takes place in California.  It started with 17-year-old underage Holden Donovan, Charlotte Pratt, and the rest of their delinquent gang (Chuck McGinn, Katie Carmichael, Emily Chua, Lawrence Reitzer and Walanda Jenkins) who all attended Booker High School, arrested for setting fire to the football field because they believed it was a form of free speech (these children are minors and not adults). The young terrorists decided to make a very negative change to the world by experimenting with gay sex while abusing and silencing the One Nation Under GOD people who got in their crazy sex addiction inside the school system way. Inside the police station, Charlotte asked the police if they were the kind of cops who tormented Lenny Bruce and Abbie Hoffman. Two weeks before the arrest of the students, the high schoolers prepared for the school talent show called the Holiday Hoopla. The leader of the cheer-leading squad told her cheerleader girls that their cheer sucked and they should use the one that was edgier about kicking a guy in his nuts, kicking him in his hole and then shoving him up a ten-foot pole.In teacher Will Drucker’s English class, the students were assigned to create videos about subjects important to them. Walanda’s video was about how MLK Jr. and Malcolm X got recognition but the unsung African-Americans didn’t, Emily Chua’s was about how her family was Chinese-American and shouldn’t still be viewed as giggly Japanese people in kimonos, Charlotte’s video was against female genital mutilation, Chuck McGinn’s was a video he secretly took of the cheerleaders’ underwear (by standing behind them) as they shook their butts during practice, and Lawrence’s video featured him singing and dancing in his yellow thong about how he was gay and being targeted by the police, public and society. Will encouraged the kids to do more along the same lines but bigger so he told the students to tell a story as a group and use it to change the world as another assignment. Emily (Asian), Chuck (overweight American) and the Lawrence (loved gay sex) tried to make a change by joining the Minority Students’ Union even though Walanda said it was predominately African-American. Principal Donna Weller suspended Monica Rose, the founder of the school celibacy society, from school for ten days for wearing a dress covered in condoms to promote safe sex. Weller suspended another female student for writing violent poetry in her diary. Monica’s mom, Jennifer, cleaned out her locker and informed Charlotte that Weller wouldn’t let Monica come back to class without apologizing. Jennifer didn’t think that was right and let Charlotte interview her mom about it for the school paper. Mr. Mumsford refused to publish Charlotte’s article because it wasn’t in favor of the principal, and Charlotte argued that Weller should allow condoms to be handed out to the students because there were already three pregnant girls in the senior class. Charlotte’s mom Abby encouraged her to be creative in her protest. Abby confessed that she once staged a protest against fur by doing a naked demonstration in Central Park, and then she and a group used handcuffs to chain themselves around an animal testing center to protest. Holden was supposed to recite Shakespeare’s Hamlet using the Queen’s English at the Holiday Hoopla, but instead teen Holden decided to talk about how last year, government sent out $117 million to schools that promised not to teach safe sex and instead promote abstinence only (Why isn’t there an age limit on underage sex as sexual activity in minors is just as destructive as alcohol, smoking, and drugs?). Holden then bashed Principal Weller and told everyone that she was only running for state school superintendent so she could force her medieval policies on the rest of the state. Holden ended his performance by choosing “not to be,” and pretending to slit his wrists. He collapsed and then got up and walked away, but the fake blood looked real enough to scare the school and have people shouting to dial 911 so the school put out a new policy that instructed the school drama teams to refrain from fake-dying during their performances. Coach Thompson and Assistant Coach Fasso told the football team that the players should really kill themselves if they were losing any game badly. Principal Weller suspended Holden but then decided to expel him altogether when he told her that the side effect of “education,” shouldn’t be death by boredom and mediocrity. The students weren’t happy about what happened to Holden, so English teacher Will advised his students to do something about it. He reminded Charlotte that she should focus on issues closer to home in her assignments because clitoral mutilation only happened in other cultures and nobody she knew was ever subject to it. Holden and Charlotte watched one of Will’s documentaries that he made before he became a teacher. Will talked about things that weren’t in the history books, like how billions of dollars were given to Saddam Hussein to kill Iranians and how the White House gave Iranians weapons to kill Iraqis. Teens Holden and Charlotte started acting out kissing scenes from their favorite movies, and that led to Holden sending out a message to the whole school encouraging the students to start a revolution. Teachers Stratton and Mumsford didn’t like it, but teacher Will’s school employee teacher (cheerleader) girlfriend Jane Jordan said that doing anything about it would be stamping out freedom of speech. The students then got up in the middle of class and went to attend a rally by Charlotte asking them when the Bill of Rights was rewritten to exclude their high school. When Principal Weller went to interrupt, everyone had already returned to class. Teacher Will told Principal Weller that it was wrong of her not to let the smart students (out of control kids) speak their minds. Principal Weller argued that high school was not a democracy and the teens needed healthy mentors to educate them and not teachers like Will who would incite them to riot. Weller suspended Will and said she would let him come back to school if he changed his teaching method, and he replied that he would rather be fired. Principal Weller then dismissed the student gang and didn’t want to hear them tell her that she shouldn’t have fired Will because they believed he was the best teacher there. Emily (all too nice and convincingly helpful and of sudden out of her real mean girl character) offered to fix Weller’s broken intercom since she already knew a great deal from her tech classes…so the Principal accepted and believed the lying student. Emily on purpose messed the system up and rigged it for Holden to use whenever he desired to sneak back onto school grounds and disrupt the entire learning environment with his devilish oversexed ways. Charlotte later told Holden that she was tired of being respected and she wanted to have sex, so the teens had sex in Holden’s car. Holden then went to the store and bought all the condoms, which he gave to the students to pin to their clothes like Monica did. Principal Weller told the students over the intercom that freedom wasn’t always an unequivocal right because they were minors and she would oversee the school the way the government was overseeing the nation. Holden then spoke over the sabotaged intercom from his hiding place inside the school building and asked the students to join him in the fight against the virus (the current school administration) and stop it so it wouldn’t spread state-wide. By the time the security found Holden, he was already gone and all the kids joined the revolution by exiting their classrooms and running about wildly in the hallways. Principal Weller was mad and told her staff to bring Holden’s head to her. Soon it was Drug Awareness Week at school and the students were not happy they had to attend. As the Drug skit happened in the auditorium, Holden interrupted it by hacking into the video screen system. He announced that Principal Weller must be homophobic because she suspended Lawrence for kissing his boyfriend Tim Spears in the hallway. Holden on the spot then challenged everyone to kiss somebody of his or her same sex (no doubt because of English teacher Will’s encouragement in the classroom) because Weller couldn’t suspend all of them. The underage children then made a game out of kissing the same sex children and laughed and joked as the girls romantically kissed girls and boys romantically kissed boys (and even the adult male coaches kissed too). (How on God’s green earth did this ever get produced in the USA? This is not entertainment but ungodly trash and borderline child abuse. Kids copy, so stop exploiting children in hellywood junkie sex films by paying them to act in child porn scene movies and TV programs while disguising it as great “family entertainment.” Keep adult sex the heck out of our real honest to GOD schools and so-called children’s entertainment worldwide.) Principal Weller screamed for the video to be shut down, but the staff failed to do so. Later that night, Holden’s teen gang used fire to burn “Weller,” with a “no” symbol onto the football field. When the gang of teens was arrested, Walanda said it was racist arrest but the black officer schooled the black teen and told Walanda reality that it was not about a racial crime because the officer was blacker than her. Emily tried to deceive the officers and said she was a non-English-speaking Asian and made faces as though she couldn’t understand the police, but they didn’t believe it because she went to school with English-speaking students. Holden was threatened with 20 years in prison for arson as the leader of the gang and also for Lawrence suffering second degree burns because his clothes caught on fire. Teacher Will used all his retirement money to bail the kids out of jail and told Holden that he was considering doing another history documentary. The teen students at Booker High School suspected that Principal Weller would rig the state superintendent election, so they called hundreds of people from the phone book and asked them not to vote for Weller as they made up false stories to convince voters. Cheerleader teen Katie, acting sexy, told teen football captain Rick Garcia to throw the next game if he ever wanted to see the Olsen twins again (her boobs). The students then televised Chuck on TV wearing a yellow thong like Lawrence and shaking his bare butt at the screen as he sang the gay song “Sunday In The Public Restroom With George” as a tribute to Lawrence. The story made it onto the news, Principal Weller lost the election and quit her job, and the students sent a video to English teacher Will and thanked him for the excellent letters of recommendation that Will gave them all so they could get into colleges. The movie cover art listed, Roger Ebert, “You know all those ‘brainless high school comedies’? Here’s what one would look like if it had brains,” and, “Two thumbs up!”

REASON: This movie takes place in Chicago and began with male nurse Gaylord (Greg) Focker going in to work at the Chicago Memorial Hospital. Greg met with Andi Garcia, a drug rep from Pfosten Pharmaceuticals who wanted Greg to represent Sustengo, Pfosten’s new erectile dysfunction drug that was safe for heart patients. Andi, a former nurse herself (but not employed at the hospital), then helped Greg and Nurse Louis put a device up patient Mr. Androvsky’s butt (not for children scene). Afterward, Greg told Andi that he was too busy, but she convinced him to give a speech about Sustengo at the Hilton where Pfosten was sponsoring a convention and nurse Greg would get paid for his time. Meanwhile, Greg’s in-laws (his wife Pam’s parents), Dina and ex-CIA agent Jack Byrnes, went to console Pam’s sister Deb who just found out that her husband, Dr. Bob, cheated on Deb and then moved out. Greg’s mom Roz, who lived in Miami Beach where she hosted a TV show about sex, called her son Gaylord and informed him that she was going to send Greg and Pam some musical condoms because her episode that week was about sex toys. Greg said no and was mad that Roz talked about him on her episode called “Masturbation Through The Ages.” Greg’s dad, Bernie, then got in on the call and said he was in Seville, Spain learning flamenco dancing. Roz told her husband Bernie it was a bad time for him to go through his man-opause because he would miss the fifth birthday party Greg and Pam were having for their twins, Samantha and Henry. The party would take place in the backyard of the new house Greg and Pam were having built. Jack had an emergency where he went into cardiac arrest, and he called 911 and while he waited for the ambulance he tried to defibrillate himself with his own device. Greg’s insanely rich buddy Kevin Rawley then Skyped from the Black Sea and announced that he was going to propose to his Russian girlfriend Svetlana by having three Russian MiG fighter jets fly by and skywrite “Marry me, Svetlana.” Kevin also planned to hide a 50-carat diamond ring in a tin of rare beluga and then do a dance that he choreographed with the Bolshoi Ballet, but Greg thought that was a little much and advised Kevin to propose from the heart. Jack later called Greg and informed him that he had a minor heart attack and avoided fatal cardiac arrest by defibrillating himself, and he wanted his son-in-law to be the only other person who knew. Jack went on to say that there had always been a patriarch of the Byrnes family, and Gaylord was next in line to be the Godfocker and he agreed that he had what it took. Little Henry didn’t want to eat the lasagna that Pam made for dinner because it tasted funny, but Greg ordered him to and he did and threw up in Greg’s face. Jack and Dina came for the twins’ birthday, and Greg cooked a turkey dinner. Henry asked his dad if girls could poop from their vaginas, to which the answer was no. Henry’s pet lizard Arthur then climbed onto the table, and Jack screamed because he was afraid of lizards (from the Vietnam War when a lizard crawled into his ear while he was sleeping and laid its eggs there and the larvae was removed before it hatched in his brain). Greg cut his finger with the turkey carving knife and blood splattered everywhere. Kevin then showed up and announced that he followed Greg’s advice and casually asked Russian Svetlana to marry him, and she said no and dumped him. Greg and Pam were took a tour of the Early Human School the following day in hopes of enrolling Sam and Henry, and Kevin said he would put in a good word for them because the investment-banking group he worked at handled EHS’s endowment fund. Plus, the director Prudence Simmons was a friend and ex-lover of Kevin’s and he claimed that he was on good terms with all of his ex-lovers. Pam had the flu in the morning that she caught from the kids, so Greg and Jack went to the EHS. Jack said he had Bob’s new address and joked that he and Greg should teach the cheater a lesson by sneaking into Bob’s house and planting an explosive device in the stove to make it look like a gas leak. Prudence bragged about how the students at her school went on to become civic leaders and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, and some even met Obama as Obama was seen in a picture then. When Prudence saw nurse Greg and retired florist Jack together, she thought they were a gay couple that had been in each other’s lives for eight years. They quickly corrected her that they were related, but they were flexible if Prudence was looking to fill a quota. Jack added that if he were gay he would be proud to have a life partner like Gay Focker. Jack and Dina watched the Roz Focker show where Roz went off about how her son and his wife weren’t finding time for sex because of their children. Roz suggested that Greg go out and have an affair…with his wife. Greg called Pam to tell her that he was going to the hotel with Andi that night, and Samantha was eavesdropping. Samantha later told Jack that she was giving Greg the silent treatment because he called Grandpa Jack cuckoo. Jack later on convinced his granddaughter Sam to tell him what she heard, and she said that Andi gave her daddy boners. Later that night, Jack tried to follow Greg to the hotel claiming that he was out to buy milk, but Greg wasn’t buying it and knew Jack was up to his old spy tricks. Back at the house, Dina convinced Jack to have sex that night, and Jack decided to try one of the Sustengo samples that Greg had in the house. At the hotel, Dr. Ballard tried to hit on Andi, so she told Ballard that Greg was her fiancé and asked him to take a picture of them with Andi kissing Greg’s cheek. Dr. Bob appeared and told Greg that Jack had both of them running on his little wheel like hamsters because Jack told Bob that he was next in line to the throne for the title of Godfocker and then he told Greg the same thing. When Greg got home, Jack confronted him about the Sustengo and wanted to know if Greg used it because he was sexually frustrated with Pam. Greg said no because they were prescription pills only for people who had a good health exam, and then Jack revealed that he took the pills and now his private parts wouldn’t go down. Jack was too embarrassed to go to the ER and get an adrenaline shot to counteract the drug, so he and Greg went into the bathroom. Little Henry opened the bathroom door and started screaming when he saw Greg stick Jack in the enlarged male private part with a needle. Jack lied to Pam and Dina that Henry just had a nightmare. Jack told Greg that he wanted to use some mind-altering techniques that he got from a covert 70’s CIA mission to erase Henry’s memory of what he just saw, but Greg said no. Greg explained to Henry that what he saw was daddy helping grandpa take a wee-wee because he was old and needed extra help and then Jack screamed because he was happy. Jack then called someone from the CIA to get information on Andi, but he was told that he no longer had CIA clearance for that and to google the information instead. On Andi’s website, Jack saw the picture of Andi kissing Greg with the caption that it was a crazy night at the Hilton. The next day, everyone went to Kevin’s lavish estate where they planned to have the birthday party since Randy Weir was having a delay in the backyard of the new house. Everyone noticed the tattoo of Pam’s face on Kevin’s back, and he explained that he got it when he was drunk in Moscow because in reality he still liked Pam and wished he were with her. Prudence then called to set up an interview with the twins’ parents and grandparents at the Early Human School. Henry was told by Prudence to draw the first thing that came to mind when he thought of family, and he drew a picture of his dad sticking a needle in his grandpa’s stiff wee-wee. Prudence asked a bunch of questions that brother Henry couldn’t answer well, but sister Sam excelled at the testing. At recess time, Greg let Henry climb a rock wall. When Jack tried to give him a hard time about it, Greg argued that he was in charge of his family and if he said it was okay for his son to do something, it was okay. Henry then fell from the rock wall, and he was taken to Greg’s hospital with a fractured arm. Andi took Greg aside and told him that the Pfosten VP of marketing wanted Andi and Greg to lead the convention in Maui next month. Jack suggested that Pam take a course correction and dump Greg for Kevin because they seemed to like each other and Greg was unstable. When Jack laid eyes on Andi, he told Pam that Greg couldn’t be trusted because he was hanging around the other woman so much. Greg and Jack argued, and as Greg stormed off he told Dina that her husband recently had a heart attack. Greg decided he would sleep over at the new house, and that night Andi showed up with wine and Chinese food. She downed a couple of Sustengo pills and stripped down to her bra and underwear. Jack had decided to check on Greg, and he saw Andi throwing herself all over Greg through the window and then Jack left and didn’t see Gaylord remove himself from the female. Andi wouldn’t let Greg have his phone to call her a cab, and she made him come outside where she pushed him into the empty pit for the swimming pool and belly flopped on top of him. They woke up the next morning in the pit, and Bernie showed up because he decided to return to his own country and attend the party. Bernie didn’t suspect that Andi and Greg did anything, and Bernie showed off his flamenco skills to Andi whose grandparents were from Seville, from across the pond that Bernie just came back from. Gaylord made it to the party and he made amends with Pam. Sam then decided to break her silence and speak to her dad. Greg tried to make peace with Jack, but that led to violent hand-to-hand combat that resulted in elder Jack being rushed to the hospital with heart issues. They made amends and Jack told Greg that he knew Greg wasn’t cheating on Pam with Andi and the position of the Godfocker was intended for Gaylord all along and not Dr. Bob. Four months later, the whole family came for Christmaskah. Bernie and Roz gave Jack a yarmulke hat, and Bernie announced that while Jack was recuperating, Bernie took some of his pubic hair and sent it to a DNA testing site. They found out that Jack was one twenty-third Israelite and welcomed him to the tribe, and Greg chimed in that he didn’t want to control anything in that house. Bernie and Roz announced that they were selling Focker Isle and they bought the house two doors down to live in so they could Fockerize the kids. Jack and Dina considered moving to Chicago too. Jack later googled himself, and he found a video where Greg gave a speech and told everyone that his father-in-law was a sexually frustrated man with a heart condition who was a good candidate for Sustengo. Gaylord then did a rapping remix video about Jack’s nipples and how Jack was obsessed with sex and boobs. Jack told his cat Jinxy that Greg was definitely the Godfocker. This movie had a budget of $100 million and grossed over $310 million at the box office.

TITLE:  Saving Silverman

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2001  Columbia Pictures / Village Roadshow Pictures / NPV Entertainment / Sony Pictures Releasing (released before 9/11)

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Washington, where Wayne Lefessier, J.D. McNugent and Darren Silverman had been best friends since fifth grade. In high school, Wayne was a third string quarterback, J.D. was the mascot and Darren was a cheerleader. Their football coach Norton advised them to stay away from women who were only after sex. Now as adults, J.D. worked for Subway, Darren was a social director at a retirement home where an elderly citizen named Abe stood up during bingo with his pants pulled down and his entire bare butt exposed, and Wayne started his Cowboy Wayne pest and rodent control business. The three buddies shared in common their love for Neil Diamond(and especially liked his 1972 concert) and they started a band called Diamonds in the Rough. At a bar, Darren told his buddies that the one and only woman for him was Sandy Perkus from high school, but before he could ask her out she moved away with her circus family (dad The Strong Man, mom The Bearded Lady, and brother Dog-faced Boy) so now there was nobody for Darren. Wayne spotted attractive female Judith Fessbeggler and went over to tell her about Darren. Wayne went back to the table and lied to Darren that Judith wanted to meet him, and so she blew him off when he tried to talk to her but then claimed him as her boyfriend when another man tried to hit on her to get rid of him. Judith asked Darren to order a drink for her and she demanded that he order the same for himself instead of the beer he wanted. Before long, it was Darren and Judith’s six-week anniversary of dating. She didn’t get him anything, but he got her a necklace, which she glanced at it for a second and then tossed aside. Darren announced that he wanted to have sex, and Judith pranced in front of him in the bedroom wearing her bra and slip and told him that she didn’t believe in premarital sex but that didn’t mean they couldn’t pleasure each other in other ways. Darren pleasured Judith, and then afterwards she handed him a dirty magazine with some lotion and she went to sleep. Darren then wanted Judith to be part of the Sunday football ritual day to meet Darren’s friends, and she didn’t want to but he convinced her. Judith wore a revealing shirt with the front almost completely open and her bare breasts visible. Wayne and J.D. showed Judith the Neil Diamond items they had on display and admitted that they stole one of Neil’s shirts when he was in the bathroom after a concert. They added that now they couldn’t be around Neil because he placed a restraining order on them, and Judith, a psychologist, told them that their obsession with Neil was a delusional projection fantasy. When J.D. tried to have Judith take a seat in his armchair, it got stuck and she went flying backwards staining her shirt and ruining her hair. Judith then sped off in a car driving recklessly and told Darren that she wanted him to quit the band and get new friends and never hang out with Wayne and J.D. ever again. Darren was reluctant but agreed when Judith threatened they would never have sex again and she would take away his masturbation privileges. Judith controlled Darren’s life in all aspects from then on, including making him get butt-cheek implants because she didn’t like the way his butt looked and torching his Neil albums. When Darren found time to spend with his friends, he told them that Judith was forcing him to have relationship counseling sessions with her two hours a day, three days a week ($200 an hour). Wayne and J.D. told Darren that Judith wasn’t right for him and they even made a chart to show him how things had changed since he met Judith, but Darren didn’t want to listen and left to heat the wax for Judith’s legs. Wayne and J.D. decided they needed to save Silverman, so they went to see Judith and paid her all the money they had in their pockets to get two and a half minutes of her time. Wayne said that he would sign his house over to Judith if she stopped seeing Darren, but she said she didn’t want the house, Wayne’s dead grandmother buried in the backyard, or J.D. who Wayne tried to throw in to sweeten the deal. Judith added that Darren was her puppet, and she owned him and was in complete control of him so he did whatever she said. Wayne and Judith challenged each other to a game of arm-wrestling, and she easily won. Wayne and J.D. then paid two prostitutes to hang out at the club with them and play pool in their bras, and Wayne and J.D. cut out Darren’s face from other pictures and glued them over their own faces on the hooker photos. They sent the pictures to Judith to make her think Darren was cheating on her with two other women. Judith confronted the guys and pointed out that Darren didn’t have a tattoo like in the picture, and she ripped Wayne’s shirt-sleeve to reveal that it was his tattoo. Judith stormed off saying that she would kill those idiots if she ever saw either of them near Darren. Darren later announced that Judith proposed to him and he accepted, and he would be Mr. Fessbeggler in a week because Judith believed it was sexist for the woman to take the man’s last name. Sandy Perkus moved back to town and met up with Darren. J.D. jogged Sandy’s memory that he was the guy who went to prom with a tuxedo painted on his naked body, but everyone could see his private parts when he spilled a drink and the paint ran. J.D. added that he was also the guy who singed his ball sac with the Bunsen burner in science class, but it didn’t ring a bell with Sandy. Wayne and J.D. tried to tell Darren that he should get back together with Sandy, but he insisted that Judith was now his one and only someone. At the engagement party, Judith wore an extremely low-cut dress that almost went down to her belly button and showed most of her breasts. She didn’t invite Wayne and J.D. to the party, so they barged in and confronted Brett and Clayton who Judith set up with Darren to be his new friends. Wayne and J.D. started a fight with the other men but they were kicked out. They then decided they would kidnap Judith and set Darren up with Sandy because they knew he loved Sandy no matter what he said. They deactivated the alarm system on Judith’s house and then broke in. Wayne went upstairs and pulled a tranquilizer gun on Judith in bed in her skimpy negligee, and she kicked the gun out of his hand and the dart got stuck in his leg. By the time he woke up, Judith had chased J.D. into the bathroom and was dunking his head in the toilet bowl. Wayne tased Judith in the behind, and Darren arrived at the house seconds after Wayne and J.D. made their getaway with unconscious Judith. Darren found the note in the bedroom that his buddies typed up and left for him but signed with Judith’s name to make Darren think Judith was breaking up with him and never wanted to see his face or fake butt again. Judith woke up in the garage of Wayne and J.D.’s house with her ankle chained and a camera on her.Wayne assigned J.D. to take care of Judith and bring her food wearing his mascot bird costume even though the police would able to identify him in it after they released Judith. Meanwhile, Wayne met with Sandy, who confirmed that she was single and she would be taking her final vows in a week to become a nun. Sandy explained that after high school, she joined her family in the circus and became a trapeze artist. She fell in love with her partner Luigi Panini, but he died when he put gel in his hair to impress the talent scouts and then his sticky hands slipped out of Sandy’s during the stunt. Sandy decided she would devote her life to serving God and people, and Wayne convinced Sandy to have lunch with Darren. Darren didn’t want to because he was engaged to Judith, but then he watched the news and discovered that Judith blew up in her car when it went off a cliff and exploded the previous night (Wayne and J.D. pushed it), and the same night Joan Snerd was dug up in a grave robbing (also Wayne and J.D.’s doing) and the police arrested three Cuban nationals. Wayne and J.D. then went to see Coach Norton, who was in prison for committing manslaughter against a referee. Wayne and J.D. then admitted their own crime. They asked Norton’s advice on what to do because Judith figured out who her kidnappers were so now they couldn’t release her or she would turn them in. Norton suggested they kill Judith, so they stormed into the garage holding a gun on Judith and lied about how they had killed people before. Judith was unconcerned and knew they wouldn’t kill her, and Wayne and J.D. goddamned it because they just couldn’t pull the trigger. As Darren was lighting candles in mourning for Judith, Wayne convinced him to go on the date with Sandy but Darren was still reluctant. Darren broke down in tears over Judith’s death, but he and Sandy bonded again when she sang a Neil Diamond song and they discovered that they both liked the singer. Sandy demonstrated how she was still strong and could pick Darren up over her head, and she accidentally threw him off the pier into the water below. He couldn’t swim, so Sandy jumped in to rescue him. When J.D. gave Judith some porno and monster videos, she told him that he had a self-defeating personality disorder and Wayne was trying to boss him around and make him feel inferior. Judith (ungodly person posing as a medical pro)convinced J.D. to have a therapy session with her, where she asked him if he had ever fantasized about having sex with any man. He asked if celebrities were included, and then Judith convinced J.D. that he was gay. As he sobbed because now he knew what was wrong with him and why he was different, Judith grabbed a vase and smashed it over J.D.’s head. Wayne chased Judith through the house, and she pushed both him and J.D. out an open window and he fell two stories below. Judith ran, and the kidnappers chased her through the neighborhood in their truck. Judith banged on Mr. Chang’s door and screamed that she was kidnapped, and he thought she was a prostitute and it was his lucky night. However, Mr. Chang didn’t get lucky with his dragon lady because he tripped down the stairs in his hurry to answer the door. Wayne and J.D. got out on foot, and Judith stole the Cowboy Wayne truck and went to the police station. Wayne shot her in the butt with a tranquilizer dart before she could get inside, and then he threw a blanket over Judith and told two police officers that he got one of the killer goats that escaped from the zoo and they believed him. Wayne and J.D. then chained Judith to a chair in the garage, and J.D. told Wayne that Judith listened to him and helped him realize he was gay. Wayne said that being gay was no big deal and now he would take care of Judith. J.D. suggested that Wayne be gay with him as if it was something to do to pass the time. Sandy told Mother Superior that she was having sexual feelings and was considering not becoming a nun, and Mother Superior told Sandy it was her choice to make but there was no going back after she took her final vows. Judith then tried to convince Wayne that he was gay too and was keeping her from Darren because Wayne was in love with Darren. Judith pointed out that Wayne hadn’t had sex with a woman in a long time, and when he argued that he was waiting for the right woman Judith told him that either he already met that women, or she killed herself or became a lesbian. Later on, as Wayne did naked yoga, Darren called him and wanted his help because Darren kept mentioning Judith during his dinner with Sandy at the club and it was upsetting her because she was told that Judith was dead. Wayne showed up to help his friend and put nipple clamps on Darren in the back of his truck so he could give Darren a shock every time he said Judith’s name. Wayne listened to the conversation from a nearby table that someone reserved before him. Sandy said that if she wasn’t going to become a nun, she wanted Darren to confirm that he wanted marriage and a family in a relationship with her. He agreed, and Sandy told Darren that she loved him. He replied that he loved Judith and Wayne gave him a shock, and then a security guard took Wayne outside and beat him up. With every punch, the guard hit the shocking devices in Wayne’s pockets, which then affected Darren. Darren’s shirt then started flaming and started a fire in the club, and outside Darren showed Sandy the nipple clamps and explained that Wayne was helping him with aversion therapy to get over Judith. Sandy thought that meant Darren wasn’t ready for a relationship with her and she sped off in her car. Darren ran 30 miles to the convent, where he asked for Sandy’s forgiveness and she forgave him easily. Darren told Sandy he loved her, and they kissed. Wayne got Judith a burger from Arby’s like she wanted. Wayne told Judith that Darren was a sensitive guy and didn’t seem like Judith’s type, and she admitted that she was engaged to an assertive man named Josh but she decided no more tough guys after Josh’s idea of fun, a kickboxing tournament in Thailand, resulted in his death.  Judith added that it was sexy how Wayne had balls enough to kidnap her and that turned her on. Wayne then wiped sauce from the Arby’s burger he was feeding Judith (which she requested) off from between her breasts. She licked it off his finger, and then they made out passionately. Wayne kissed Judith’s breasts and then frantically unlocked the chain around one of Judith’s wrists so he could get at her. However, J.D. refused to answer the doorbell because he was eating so Wayne went to get it, and Judith got ahold of the chain keys from Wayne before he left. Coach Norton was at the door and told Wayne and J.D. that he got a retrial because he had a judge that was a sports fan so he was out of prison. He asked to stay at their house while he figured things out, and they agreed. Coach Norton went outside to take a crap on the lawn and use mail as toilet paper because Wayne and J.D. no longer used the toilet so they could cut down on the water bill (but really they were hiding Judith). Wayne reminded J.D. that Norton couldn’t stay with them because of Judith, and when Norton wanted confirmation that they killed Judith they said they ate her alive. Coach Norton told them that were the perfect crime, but then he turned the TV on and saw the garage camera that showed Judith getting away. Norton said they should chop Judith’s head off, but she beat Norton and Wayne up and escaped. Just as Sandy and Darren were making out on the couch with her in her bra, Judith appeared and saw them. Judith started fake sobbing and making up lies about how she was beaten, tortured and treated like a farm animal and the only thing that kept her alive was the thought that Darren still loved her and they would be together again but now she saw that wasn’t true. She told Sandy to run along back to the nunnery because Judith and Darren pledged their love to each other. Wayne and J.D. appeared, and Darren punched Wayne through the glass door and then onto the hood of Sandy’s car. J.D. told Darren they only did it because they loved Darren, so Darren threw J.D. into Sandy’s windshield. The police came and arrested Wayne and J.D., and Darren told them in jail that he and Judith were getting married the following day. Coach Norton got job teaching elementary-age boys and told them to “kill” during their football practice. The partners in crime called Coach Norton from jail and asked him to post bail for them at $10,000 each because jail life was terrible and the inmates were making the guys wear dresses and be their girlfriends. Instead of paying bail, Norton smashed through the wall of the jail cell with Wayne’s truck and they jumped in the back and sped off. They interrupted Sandy’s vow ceremony at the convent and told her that Darren loved her, so Mother Superior let Sandy go with the guys to crash the wedding. Mother Superior couldn’t believe they lost another one and a nun swore SOB. Sandy changed her clothes to some that J.D. got from his stripper/hooker sister. They then kidnapped Neil Diamond and convinced him to help them, and he agreed because he said that it was his chance to prove the words he wrote in all his love songs meant something and he would make sure this story had a happy ending. Coach Norton spotted a cop car behind them, and he said he would rather go down in gunfire than go back to jail so he jumped out of the truck with his gun. However, it wasn’t a police car and when Norton landed in front of the car it hit him. Neil’s “We’re Coming To America,” played because the wedding was on America Avenue, and when they arrived Neil sang and played the guitar. Darren joined in as Sandy came up the aisle singing too, and she and Darren embraced and kissed. Darren refused to say “I do,” so Judith had a breakdown and went after Wayne beating him up. Judith then decided that she liked Wayne, and they straddled each other on the ground making out wildly. J.D. appeared holding the bruised and battered Coach Norton, and J.D. said he wasn’t getting married because he was gay and Norton admitted that he was gay too. Darren and Sandy got married, Judith and Wayne got married, and the reverend pronounced J.D. and Coach Norton man and man and the two men kissed alongside the two straight couples. TITLE:  The Legend of the Candy Cane (based on the bestselling book)

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2001 Mainstreet Entertainment / Zonderkidz / Dean River Productions

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 2

REASON: This cartoon movie began with a man named John Sonneman traveling to the deserted prairie town of East Sage with John’s horse, Julius, and a young boy named Matt. John tried to find Matt a family because Matt’s parents died. John saved a mountain goat named Chester from being eaten by wolves, and Chester joined the group that travelled to West Sage. The townspeople thought John and his gang were lost because West Sage rarely had visitors, and the townsfolk were concerned when they learned that the newcomer was there to shake up their quiet way of life and set up his own store right across from the general store. Julius and Chester met Thelma the owl and a dog named Rusty (all animals talked in the movie) in the barn. Thelma had to rescue Chester from the mad hens that chased him around because he tried to eat their food. Chester admitted that he didn’t go up into the hayloft to escape from the hens because he was afraid of heights, and that was why he wasn’t in the mountains. Matt and young Lucy Long hit it off and had fun throwing snowballs at each other. Jane Aubrey was neighborly to John and brought him welcoming gifts, which upset her sister Maureen who always bossed Jane around. Lucy’s dad, Thomas, then received a letter from his brother, who arranged a wedding for Thomas with a woman who was willing to be Lucy’s mom. Thomas would go to Chicago to marry the woman and then return to West Sage in time for Christmas morning, and Lucy was upset that Thomas planned to marry someone he didn’t know or love. John set Jane and Thomas up to go on a sleigh ride that night, but when Thomas told Jane the news about his upcoming marriage, she was very upset because she loved Thomas. As Thelma tried to help Chester overcome his fear of heights, Rusty laughed about it but then came to his senses with Thelma’s help and decided that he would help Chester get over his fear and remember that nervous and excited were the same feeling. Jane left West Sage for California or New York in hopes of finding happiness in one of those big cities because the small town wasn’t for her anymore and the view from her window wasn’t enough to make her stay. John revealed to Lucy that his new store was a candy shop, and she was happy and thought it was just what West Sage needed. John showed Lucy a candy cane and told her that it was a reminder of the Nativity because it resembled the shepherds’ staffs.John said that when his great-grandmother was a young girl from across the pond, the choirmaster gave her a candy cane during the Christmas service to remind her of the shepherds and to keep her quiet because she was a chatterbox. John went on to say that it was only just recently that someone added the peppermint flavor to the candy cane in the form of red stripes, and different colors represented different things. John compared the red stripes disappearing when the candy cane was licked to Jesus’ sadness going away when He sacrificed Himself for the sins of the world because Jesus (even though the name Jesus was not mentioned but a Nativity scene was shown) cared for humanity and GOD’s people. John believed the candy cane was a symbol of God’s love, and once the red was gone all that was left was the white and white represented joy and shone bright like the Christmas star. Thomas decided not to go to Chicago and he came back to West Sage. Maureen blamed John for Jane running away because he brought Jane and Thomas together with the sleigh ride. Everyone went out looking for Jane and found her stuck on a ledge in a ravine. Jane called out for help but wasn’t heard over the wind, and the search party only stayed because Rusty spotted Jane and barked. A wolf cornered Jane on her ledge, and Thomas went down to rescue Jane using a rope. However, Maureen was trying to show off her knot-tying skills (or was older sis just mean spirited) and lost hold of the rope, so Rusty told Chester to get over his fear and go down into the ravine. Thomas kicked the wolf off the ledge and then tied the rope around Chester, who took one great leap and wasn’t afraid. He then confidently jumped back up the ledges to the top, and Thomas and Jane were pulled to safety. That night the townspeople attended the Christmas Eve service, where the pastor mentioned the candy cane. John then left West Sage as mysteriously and quietly as he came, and he left behind the candy cane story for everyone to think about. Thomas and Jane got married and adopted Matt, and they named John’s store the Long Candy Store.

TITLE:  Billy Madison

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1995  Universal Pictures / Robert Simonds Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with 27-year-old Billy Madison, the son of Brian Madison (deceased wife), a hotel tycoon, who hung out at his father’s pool with his two dopey friends, Frank and Jack, and leeched off from Brian’s wealthy family. Billy sped off in his golf cart because he just remembered that his nude magazines were coming the mail. After he skimmed through some godless material, Billy settled for Drunk Chicks instead of the She/Male (Transgender) Fiesta or Women Over 80. Billy then drove after a person in a penguin suit that he imagined in his head because he was too drunk wasted again to see reality, and then he tore up the very expensive gardens as he drove carelessly about in the process. Billy then fell in his stupor at the doorstep in front of Brian’s business associates and he grabbed on to their legs as the executive males walked past the delinquint Billy below them into the house. Juanita the housekeeper scolded Billy and sent him off to get dressed up for dinner as she told herself that Billy was a fine piece of a**. Brian’s executive vice president, Eric, set Billy off without Brian knowing by making faces at him and subtly giving him the middle finger so the special Billy would shout gibberish at the dinner table until father Brian kicked his son out of the room (what Eric hoped for all along). Brian later argued with his executives about how he didn’t believe Billy was an idiot and how he and his now deceased wife Emily started the Fortune 500 company with a 15-unit motel in Patchogue, Long Island which they built into 650 hotels with 61,000 employees with the hope that Billy would one day run Madison Hotels. Billy met up with Frank and Jack at a restaurant where they threw pickles at the window like offenders that Billy’s gang was. They then lit a bag of dog poop on fire, left it on Ted Clemens’ doorstep and rang the doorbell. They hid in the bushes and watched as elderly Ted came to the door in his underwear and put out the fire with his boots and getting them all crap again as his elderly wife told him not to do. Ted then shouted and threatened the kids that they were all going to die, not realizing the suspects were adult men behind the abusive hate crime. Brian then made an announcement that he was retiring and that Eric would take his place running Madison Hotels and Carl Alphonse, the elder Operations Manager, would help Billy become more mature so he could take over one day. Brian then revealed that he paid off Billy’s teachers (in all grades K-12) money to give Billy good grades so he would graduate. Billy and Brian then made a game deal that if Billy was able to redo all twelve grades on his own in 24 weeks before June 15th, the company was his. Billy had to be dropped off at Polly Fector Elementary School on his first day because the bus wouldn’t stop to pick him up. The first-grade teacher, Miss Lippy, welcomed Billy and chose the book “The Puppy Who Lost His Way by Chrissy Taylor,” for story time. Billy told Miss Lippy (not all the young kids beside Billy were napping) that that the boy in the story shouldn’t have stopped searching for his missing dog after an hour and instead he should have kept f**king looking. Billy didn’t want to play dodgeball with the kids, but Miss Lippy insisted that he did so she could stay inside and practice her Indian dancing and have her “ME time,”leaving the kids unsupervised. Billy deliberately threw the dodgeball hard at the kids, and then he ate glue at craft time (teaching younger students to do the same). After school, Billy wasn’t happy that Miss Lippy came outside to give him his snowman craft because he was trying to hit on a fellow student’s mom (whose husband was in prison). The little boy introduced Billy as his retarded classmate. Eric plotted to eliminate Billy, and he had Rollo the janitor (bought and bribed school employee) watch Billy and report back to Eric. Brian threw a party for Billy every time he passed a grade, and at the first party one of Billy’s buddies suggested Billy give the donkey beer to get it drunk In third grade, and teacher Veronica Vaughn (the elementary teacher who Billy had been hitting on) wasn’t putting up with his obnoxious behavior and dragged him out of class by the ear. She then sought revenge on him in front of the class by having him write the name of a baseball player on the chalkboard in cursive not knowing how to write a “z.” When Veronica was out sick, Principal Max Anderson substituted for her. The kids passed a note in class that Anderson confiscated and read where the kids called him a tub of lard and suggested that he walk into traffic. Some of the underage girls in class crushed on Billy and gave him valentines, and even the principal gave Billy a valentine saying that he was horny and wanted Billy. Billy and his classmate Ernie ate Hostess Wonder bread and he convinced Ernie to call Miss Veronica Vaughn and ask her if she would go out with Billy, but she said no because he was too immature. Veronica’s third grade class left school grounds and went on a field trip, where one of the boys on the school bus double dared Billy to touch Veronica’s boobs on the bus and Billy showed em how it was done and did it. The bus driver and Billy’s buddies stole all the kids’ lunches and stuffed their faces so the kids had nothing to eat. When Ernie told Billy that he had a potty accident, Billy put water on the front of his pants and told all the kids that peeing in your pants was cool so they all did it. Billy passed the third grade, and at the party Veronica gave Billy some Snack Packs since Juanita (still hitting on Billy and making sexual innuendos around him) refused to pack them for Billy’s lunches. When teacher Veronica found out that Billy was very beyond rich, she came onto him and started kissing him in Billy’s private tent outside his dad’s estate grounds and mansion house. Carl Alphonse appeared and told Billy that Eric was up to something. In sixth grade, Billy put white stuff in his hair to scare the nurse who was checking the children for lice. Eric reminded Principal Max that he used to be the Revolting Blob wrestler who beat up senior citizens and killed people in the ring by sitting on their heads and cutting off their air, so the principal agreed to cooperate with Eric so he wouldn’t tell Max’s secret. In a ninth-grade class, Billy made a scene and lied to the teacher that one high school girl wanted to make out with him when she in fact told him to stay away from her because he was a loser. Billy was still seeing Veronica and asked her for advice on how to get through high school. She told him that now he knew what it felt like to be called a loser by his classmates and reminded him of the people he treated like that when he was younger. Billy then called Danny McGraff from his old high school days and apologized for bullying him, and Danny said he forgave him and agreed to meet up with Billy sometime. Danny then crossed Billy’s name off his list of people to kill since they made amends. Principal Anderson then went on the news and lied (as Eric told him to do) that Billy paid him $5,000 to pass school. Brian believed what was reported in the news and told his son Billy so and then Brian announced that the deal was off and the company was Eric’s. After Billy and his buddies had too much to drink, Billy went to Veronica’s house and invited her to come light dog poop on fire with them. She thought he was crazy, especially when he mentioned the penguin that he saw inside her house. The next day, Veronica made a visit to Brian’s home and found Billy passed out by the poolside. Female teacher Vaughn punched Billy around and told him not to give up and that he needed to go back to school and graduate so he could get the company. Billy decided to take Veronica’s advice, and then the third grade teacher’s elementary students went to Max’s house and convinced him to go on TV and admit that he lied and what he said about Billy paying the principal a bribe was not true. Daddy Warbuck’s Brian decided to let Billy finish high school, and Eric had an outburst and revealed just how much he wanted the company and would do anything to get it. Billy challenged Eric to a decathlon to test their knowledge and skills, and Brian agreed to it so Billy sealed the deal by kissing his male opponent Eric on the lips. Student Billy and teacher Veronica later played a sex game in his tent where for every correct history answer he gave to her question (as part of Billy’s studying for the decathlon), Vaughn would take off a piece of her clothing. Billy got one question wrong so Veronica didn’t get past her shirt. Queerly, Billy got the same question right when the bus driver was in the tent and so the male stripped down. Brian made a substantially large donation to the Knibb High School library in order to play out his own personal game around the innocent children and have ten different teachers (because of the tycoon’s extra money that the questionable teacher’s controlled at school and not necessarily for the children in a healthy way) organize the academic decathlon. The judge for the billionaire’s game at the public school said that if either contestant tried to cheat, especially with his wife who was a dirty tramp, he would snap. Eric accidentally set himself on fire during the baking round, and Billy laughed at him. After Eric won track because he did track at Harvard, Billy pushed Eric over and two high school boys commented on Eric’s weird-looking balls that they saw as Eric fell and were exposed when his shorts came up. As the crazy games on school grounds were under way, the O’Doyle family (who had bully kids in several grades with them) drove down the road in a large station wagon car. Then, their car hit the banana peel that the bus driver threw out his window earlier (third grade teacher Vaughn field trip) and so the family’s car slid off the road and over a cliff and everyone inside exploded on impact with the vehicle landed in the canyon below. For the tenth and final decathlon event, Eric tried to give Billy a hard question about literature and industry revolution. Billy used the example of the puppy from Miss Lippy’s story becoming a dog, but the judge awarded Billy no points and informed him that his rambling speech was incoherent and irrational and everyone was dumber for having listened to it so may God have mercy on Billy’s soul. Billy then chose the topic “business ethics,” for Eric to discuss, but Eric could find no words. At school, Eric had a breakdown and pulled out a gun. All the kids screamed and ran, and Principal Anderson in his wrestling outfit tackled Eric. Eric was going to shoot Veronica, but Danny shot Eric in the butt and Billy was glad he called his old classmate Danny. Billy won the decathlon since he was already one point ahead of Eric, and thus he graduated from high school (thanks to billionaire Brian and his huge gift of money again to the school). Billy told everyone that he was giving the business to Carl because Billy planned on going to college to be a teacher. The movie ended with Billy and Veronica kissing along with many other couples including the bus driver and the person in the penguin suit.

TITLE:  The Journey of Natty Gann

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1985 Walt Disney Pictures / Silver Screen Partners II / Buena Vista Distribution / Lobell-Bergman Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Chicago in 1935 during the Great Depression and began with a crowd of men angry that they were being laid off from their jobs and being paid slave wages. Sol Gann was considered a troublemaker for always speaking out against the employers and siding with the crowd. His young teen daughter Natalie (Natty), dressed like a boy, and went into the men’s bathroom with her male friends Frankie and Louie. She lit a cigarette for them to share, and then Frankie said his dad thought Sol was a Red (Commie) who would be sent to Russia. Natty disagreed and got into a fight with Frankie, and Sol reassured Natty that he wasn’t a Red. The employment agency offered Sol a job at a lumber camp in Washington State, and Sol turned it down but then decided to take it. He went to find Natty to say goodbye to her, but she was nowhere to be found so Sol asked Connie, the manager at the San Marco Hotel where the Ganns were staying, to take care of Natty and then send her on a train to Washington once Sol got his first paycheck (he left the child behind with questionable acquaintances). Sol boarded the work bus and gave Connie a letter to give to Natty. Natty she returned to the hotel that night and hid a stray puppy she found. Inside the letter was a locket from Natty’s dead mom she never knew with a two photos. Sol’s note said that he realized it was better off that he left without seeing Natty because it would have been tougher for him to leave. The police then evicted Frankie’s family out of their house, so the crowd, including Natty, threw rocks at the law enforcement. An officer brought Natty to Connie and told her she would have to appear in court with Natty the next morning. Connie was irate and locked Natty in her room, and Connie screamed to get rid of the puppy and then left muttering that it wasn’t her problem because she wasn’t Natty’s goddamn mother. Natty picked the lock on the door and overheard Connie reporting Natty as an abandoned child, so Natty ran away. Natty left the puppy tied up outside her adult friend Sherman’s place, and then Natty jumped on a train with a bunch of other bums as Sherman warned her not to do because it was dangerous and even deadly. Natty almost didn’t make it into the open boxcar, but a drifter named Harry helped her. The railroad police later checked the train and apprehended some of the vagrants but most escaped. Natty then watched a deadly dogfight where drunken men bet on a wolf that appeared to have killed a Doberman. The men tried to control the vicious wolf with a bloody mouth, but they were unable to because the scared canine didn’t want any more wounds, so Natty opened the door and let the wolf free. A man smacked Natty to the ground and then went after the wolf but they didn’t find him. Natty encountered the snarling wolf in a train car, and she left food for him. Sol called Connie and wanted to talk to Natty, but Connie informed him that Natty ran away and Sol was angry that it happened. When the train that Natty was riding on stopped, it crashed and went up in flames. Everyone fled the scene and the young teen ran into the woods right before the train exploded. When Natty encountered the wolf again (who also escaped from the fiery train), he left a dead rabbit for her to eat. Natty and the wolf teamed up to help each other survive, and Natty happened upon a house in the woods where Al and his pregnant wife lived. When Al saw Wolf in the chicken coop attacking a coyote that was trying to hunt the chickens, he shot at Wolf but Natty knocked the gun away and ran off with Wolf. Sol called Connie to tell her that he got a week off from work and was going back to Chicago to help find Natty, but Connie replied that Natty’s wallet was found under a train in Colorado so she was no longer in Chicago. Natty made it to a town, where a group of adolescent drifters convinced her to join their family of tramps. They plotted to steal a bull and sell it, and Wolf helped them herd the bull into the truck. The group took off without Natty, so she was caught and put in a strict home for orphans. When she saw Wolf being taken away to Charlie Rindfield’s blacksmith shop, Natty escaped from the orphanage in the trunk of a worker’s car. Natty was reunited with Wolf because Charlie didn’t kill the animal. Charlie drove Natty to town and gave her some money and food, and she tried to buy a train ticket to Seattle but the station worker reported her as the girl the authorities were looking for. Natty hitchhiked in a truck with a man who wanted to buy Wolf to be his watchdog, but she refused to sell Wolf. The adult man told Natty (barely fourteen years old) she was pretty and put his arm around her, and then he tried to rape her. Wolf, who was in the back of the truck, broke the glass window and bit the man. That gave Natty the opportunity to jump out of the truck and the wolf followed. Meanwhile, a lumberjack was injured severely because a tree fell on him, so Sol took the man’s place doing the dangerous job of climbing high up a tree and cutting it down near the top. Natty went to a hobo camp, where she encountered Harry from Chicago again and he shared food with her. A group of “law-abiding citizens,” called them Main Streeters and then burned down the camp and attacked the hobos. Harry helped Natty and Wolf escape. When they found a train, Wolf ran off into the woods to answer the call of a female wolf. Natty wanted to stay behind, but then Wolf reappeared and jumped into the train car with Harry and Natty. When the police stopped the train to look for vagabonds, Harry and Natty hid so the police only saw Wolf growling at them and they dismissed the boxcar. Harry told Natty that he had been to the Washington coast four years before when he and his dad were looking for work, but his dad was trampled to death at a refinery when the crowd fought over the few jobs that were being offered. The trio then jumped off a water tower onto the top of a fast-moving train, and they just barely made it. In Seattle, Harry got a job in California and was disappointed that he couldn’t convince Natty to go with him because she found a nearby lumber camp and wanted to find her dad first. Adult Harry kissed underage Natty goodbye and left on the bus. Natty tried to sneak into the base camp in hopes Sol was there, but a female employee caught her and planned to send her away. Wolf heard the she-wolf howling to him again, so Natty decided to set Wolf free to be with the other wolf. The female worker then found a dead letter addressed to Natty from Sol, and he told her that he loved her and to come to see him as soon as she could. A ride into the mountains was arranged for Natty, but she had to get there out on foot and run because the car had a broken axle. Sol and some of the other lumberjacks were using dynamite in the woods, but it went wrong and they were injured (Sol with a hurt left arm) were taken back down the mountain in a truck. Natty spotted her dad in the back of the truck and chased after it, and she shouted but it kept going. Natty thought Sol was gone, but then the two were reunited because Sol heard Natty calling him and the truck dropped him off and left without him to save the lives of the more seriously injured lumberjacks in the explosion. The movie cover art listed, Siskel & Ebert, At The Movies “A fine family film…two thumbs up.”
