TITLE: Taking 5

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2007  Sony Pictures / Teek Films

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Utah and began with two teenage girls, Gabby Ann Davis and Devon Lisette Thompson, plastering Devon’s bedroom wall with pictures (using teen targeted magazines) of the 5 Leo Rise teen band (Ritchie the leader and Devon’s favorite, Mason who was Gabby’s favorite, K.K., Nikolai and Scooter). The local high schools were having a label drive competition where the school that gathered the most labels would get to have teen idol band 5LR at their school. Gabby and Devon were on a roll and even raided garbage cans and dumpster for labels. Devon and her older sister Danielle’s parents were going to a McCune Mystery Manor event (a weekend of fine dining, intrigue and murder where everyone was a suspect), so they left Danielle in charge of Devon but little sis didn’t want to be left alone with her mean girl big sis. Danielle told the girls that after she took a semester in Italy, she decided American boys weren’t for her and Italian boys were better. At Highland High, Devon caught classmate Lincoln breaking into her locker to see the 5LR posters covering every inch of it. Lincoln accused the band of being lip-syncing wussies, and then he and Pete showed the girls the video footage of them kidnapping the Hesterson High goat mascot in hopes of getting dates and 50,000 views. Gabby and Devon wouldn’t give Kira Castle (mean girl bully cheerleader and president of the student council) and her tag-along Lainey Fox, their 500,000 labels unless the less popular got to be part of the presentation and meet the band. Kira agreed, but disaster struck backstage before the presentation when Devon and Gabby were messing around with a sparkler and it ended up in Kira’s hair. The curtains were opened for everyone see Devon using the fire extinguisher to put out the flames in Kira’s hair and the labels. Kira whimpered as her hair came out in chunks, and afterward she confronted Devon and Gabby in the hall and called them soph-whores. Kira didn’t want them to come up with a payment plan to pay for her hair extensions, pain and suffering and announced that she was going to make their school lives living hell. Other students participated in calling Devon and Gabby losers and idiots, tying chairs to their backpacks, and hitting them in the head with balls. Devon convinced Gabby to skip school and go to a record store to meet 5LR and ask them to play for the school so the girls wouldn’t be stuck in social Siberia forever. Gabby was skeptical, and Devon reminded her of the time 5LR took a girl with leukemia to prom so they would probably agree if they lied and said Gabby had cancer. However, the band members refused to do the school concert even after Devon said the bit**es would be after them forever if they didn’t. The guys didn’t even bat an eyelid when Gabby mentioned her cancer, so Devon later told Gabby that 5LR were fakes. Devon encouraged Gabby to say she hated Mason’s picture and then rip it up while Devon tore the head off Ritchie’s bobblehead. The girls decided that they would humiliate their idol band by kidnapping them and forcing them to play at their school. Devon’s parents left for the weekend but not before Devon did an oath that she would mind her sister and not have boys in the house or drive the car. Devon and Gabby went to see Lincoln at his house to ask for his help, but he replied that kidnapping was a real crime and he didn’t want to end up like Ian Fuller, who hacked the Pentagon and was tried as an adult at age 17 (after being caught by Special Agent George Sledge) so he was now spending his college years behind bars in an orange jumpsuit. The girls managed to convince Devon to participate, and they plotted Operation Taking 5. They would go to homecoming on Saturday (with Devon reluctantly going as Lincoln’s date) and then drive to the back entrance of the concert venue as 5LR’s show was wrapping up. The girls would use their feminine charms to divert the band’s attention and trick them into thinking the homecoming limo was their limo, and Pete would throw a smoke bomb and usher 5LR into the limo. However, the plan went all wrong when Pete set off the smoke alarm too early and 5LR weren’t buying the girls’ screaming fan act and throwing themselves all over the boys. Gabby passed out when Mason smiled at her, so Lincoln had to carry Gabby to the car and told Devon to drive even though she didn’t know how to. The band knew that Lincoln wasn’t their limo driver and got in the real limo that just arrived, and Lincoln was apprehended by security. Devon was freaking out behind the wheel, so they stopped at Wingers to get wings and 5LR, who also stopped for wings, walked out. They got in the homecoming limo (except for Nikolai and K.K. who lingered inside the restaurant), and Devon drove while Pete put a mask over his face and claimed that he and the others were members of the RMLF, the Real Music Liberation Front who were against “fake musicians,” like 5LR. Pete explained that he would set off the bomb he put in the trunk if the band didn’t cooperate, and he wasn’t joking because the limo driver was dead (actually passed out, Lincoln’s doing). Lincoln put hats over the band members’ heads like blindfolds and tied their hands together, and then everyone crammed into the getaway car, an old Volkswagen Bug, and positioned the unconscious driver in the front seat of the limo holding a canteen like he was drunk. Danielle was having a party at the house, so the kidnappers snuck their victims into the basement and planned to leave them there until Lincoln arrived to start the torture. The girls would then offer to save 5LR only if they agreed to play for the school. Gabby admitted that she passed out because Mason smiled at her and she loved him, but Devon reminded her that they hated all of 5LR and Gabby agreed, except for Mason. The next morning, Lincoln made it back but then they had to go into the backyard and catch the two escapees. They brought the prisoners back to the house in trashcans and went by the elderly neighbor Mrs. Knipplemeyer who was watering her lawn ornaments. Down in the basement, Pete videoed the three band members being forced by Lincoln to call themselves derogatory names and say they deserved to have their a**es kicked. Lincoln handed Ritchie a guitar saying that only a real musician could play one, and Ritchie struck a few chords flawlessly. Lincoln snatched the guitar back and said old ladies could play better than, but he told Pete to delete that part of the footage. Danielle then threatened Devon that she would call their parents and say Devon was the one with the boys in the house if Devon didn’t clean up big sis Danielle’s party mess. Gabby and Devon went to the basement, where Gabby told the band that she had social cancer and they were the cure, so they needed to perform at the school to trump Kira’s popularity and take Gabby and Devon off her torture radar. Mason and Scooter were in, but Ritchie, the lead singer, argued that he didn’t perform for free and confessed that he and the talent scout, Hollace, had been talking about Ritchie doing a solo tour. All the boys then tied Ritchie to a chair and threw eggs at him while the girls figured out a way to get in Ritchie’s head and break him down. Devon dressed in fishnet stockings, tall boots and a low-cut crop top to look like the Velvet Raven character in Ritchie’s favorite comic book. Devon served Ritchie his favorite banana cream pie and cleaned the egg off him, and Ritchie told her and Gabby something he hadn’t even told the band. It turned out Ritchie couldn’t perform in public because he lip-synced, and Hollace said it was temporary until Ritchie could overcome his stage fright. Mason asked Ritchie if that was why he turned into a dick, and then Gabby had an idea and they rented goofy costumes from the costume store. Ritchie was supposed to sing in front of them, but Lincoln made weird gestures at Ritchie so he stormed into the house without singing. Devon sat with her eyes closed next to Ritchie, and he was able to sing without lip-syncing. Everyone watched the MTV news report about the RMLF being responsible for the kidnappings (which they knew because K.K. and Russian Nikolai came forward) and confirmed that the kidnapping was real but it was still suspected to be a publicity stunt. Lincoln and Gabby saw Ritchie and Devon kissing after Ritchie sang. Lincoln was mad because he had a crush on Devon, so he took Ritchie for a ride in the car and accused him of having Stockholm Syndrome and feeling affection for his captor. Ritchie argued that he really did dig Devon and would be dying for Devon if Lincoln killed him, so Ritchie tied Devon to a tree in the dark. Gabby was the most upset about the kiss and said Devon was the one who pushed her to participate when she didn’t want to and ruined boy band 5LR for her. Gabby announced from that day forward, she didn’t want to be friends with Devon, and before Gabby left she kissed Mason to make her point. Danielle waltzed into the room on the phone with her parents about to tell them that Devon had famous boys at the house, and there was a bunch of screaming as Devon tried to get the phone from Danielle. Mom and Dad were worried and decided to come home (they hadn’t solved the mystery anyway), and when Lincoln returned to the house without Ritchie Devon sent him back out to get Ritchie while they prepared for 5LR to perform at the school the next morning. Devon called Gabby and told her about the performance, and Devon sped off in the car with the boys just as her parents arrived back and told her not to leave but she did anyway. Kira and Lainey at school then confronted Gabby. Gabby told Kira that she didn’t have to be a mean person in order to make everyone think she was cool and suggested Kira be nice instead. Hollace was outside the school and told the band they couldn’t use real instruments for their performance. Lincoln came along with Ritchie, who told Hollace off and said he was fired if he protested anymore. Devon and Gabby made amends while 5LR interrupted the student assembly with their concert. Lainey decided that Gabby was right about Kira and she didn’t want to be friends with her anymore, and older sister Danielle got together with band member Scooter and wanted to go on the road with him after she learned that he spoke Italian too and she liked him. Danielle and her parents were there at the school, and then Agent George Sledge arrived and tried to arrest Devon and Gabby for the kidnapping. Ritchie lied that there was no kidnapping and the girls were 5LR’s biggest fanswho convinced them to play from the heart, so there they were. Hollace agreed, and the government agents uncuffed Devon and Gabby without another word and left because feds believed the lying celebrities who were paid to put on an act and would say or do anything to remain in the spotlight and keep their lavish lifestyle afloat. The following was listed on the movie cover art: Francine Brokaw, Herald Publications “It’s High School Musical with a twist!” / …Popstar! Magazine “…a rockin’ fun flick with cute guys, wholesome humor and great music!”

TITLE: The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2005  Monarch Home Video / Piccadilly Pictures / Storm Entertainment / Ursus Films / Edina Film Production Partnership LLP / Kodak Motion Picture Film

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie is based on a true story of a dog that changed the history of a city and takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1858. It began with Bobby, a Skye terrier who was Officer John Gray’s police dog, that woofed at an angry bull that had charged people and knocked things over in the town causing major damage. The bull slowly turned around and went back to his pen after the bull seemed to listen to the little dog. In church, Minister Lee preached that the young people would bring changes to their town and ward off the poverty and disease, bit Duncan Smithie and Cecil Johnson did not agree with the sermon. Johnson threatened the minister that he would be expelled from the parish if he didn’t focus on more traditional things. Officer John began coughing up blood, and when he apprehended and wrestled with a robber one day he was suddenly paralyzed with sickness and unable to move on the ground. Bobby came to help, but the robber stabbed Bobby in the back with his knife. Bobby was bandaged and expected to have a full recovery, as John was then bedridden dying from tuberculosis. Officer John told a young village boy named Ewan Adams who loved Bobby to take care of the little dog, and John also gave Ewan a book about good men (Robert Adam, Sir Walter Scott, John McAdam, Robert Burns) in history. Officer John then passed away, and his four-legged son, Bobby, mourned the loss of his human dad by sleeping on John’s grave at night in the Greyfriars churchyard. The grave digger, James Brown, kicked Bobby out several times because dogs weren’t allowed, but Bobby was persistent and proved that he was worthy of keeping around by hunting down the rats that James had trouble catching. Smithie and Johnson weren’t happy with Minister Lee for letting the dog roam free on church land, but the reverend replied that the gentlemen’s club the two men attended excluded ladies except for the women who cleaned and cooked and were part of the staff, so Bobby was no exception since he was employed as the rat catcher and was an asset to the church. Smithie and Johnson knew they were defeated but said they would be back, and they now had a vendetta against Bobby and set it up so that John’s wife, Maureen, would return to Dunbar to work at the hat shop again and bring Bobby with her. James was back to having trouble catching rats, and Bobby wasn’t happy being confined to the yard while Maureen was at work. She noticed Bobby’s depression and set him free, and he ran all the way back to Edinburgh cross-country. Everyone was very happy that Bobby returned, except for Smithie and Johnson who captured Bobby in the cemetery that night. They thought the dog broke his neck in the struggle of catching him, but Bobby was playing dead and jumped up. Bobby ran to Ewan and a young girl named Mary McPherson, and they followed Bobby down a supposedly haunted tunnel filled with skeletons. Smithie and Johnson confronted Bobby and the kids, but the men were chased away by villager Coconut Tam pretending to be a ghost. Ewan told James and the reverend what happened the previous night, and Bobby disappeared several days in a row to the fort to be fed by the soldiers. One soldier told James that Bobby belonged to no one and James and Ewan were the guardians of the most famous dog in all the land. Ewan’s mother, Ada, convinced Smithie to hire Ewan at the factory where she worked. Smithie agreed and made it clear that Ewan would not have time to see Bobby, which upset tween Ewan the most. Out of the blue there was then a housefire (possibly Smithie’s doing) where the house crumbled on top of Ewan. Bobby located where Ewan was buried in the rubble so James was able to rescue him. Ada died in the fire, so now Ewan was orphaned and nobody wanted to take care of him. Minister Lee and James put Ewan in the miserable poorhouse (which featured a “God Is Good,” sign on the wall), where Ewan was locked in a cell to sleep and, along with other boys, forced to work by tearing fiber apart until their fingers bled. Minister Lee cared not about the homeless children otherwise he would not have put the young children in that godless place to begin with. After a month, Ewan was told by Johnson that he was allowed one day of outing. Johnson knew that Ewan wanted to go out and frolic with Bobby, and once Ewan’s eyes lit up and he confirmed that he did, Johnson said that was exactly why Ewan wasn’t going to be allowed out and assigned him to a new daily chore of cleaning the library. Ewan borrowed books and read them in his cell, and one night, Bobby appeared beneath the window having finally found Ewan after all his searching. Bobby did a performance of laying down and getting up again, and that gave Ewan an idea. He lay face-down on the floor in his cell and made sick noises so the guard would open the door to check on him, and then Ewan jumped up and made a run for it. With Bobby’s help getting the keys from a guard, Ewan unlocked the gate and escaped. Bobby led Ewan to Mary’s new house, and Mrs. McPherson brought Ewan inside and took care of him and gave him food since he was skin and bones. Ewan went to work for Mary’s dad the butcher, and James was very happy to see Ewan again. Smithie and Johnson reviewed the new Dog Licensing act prohibiting stray dogs from roaming the streets and requiring people to license their dogs. The men told the church that they were harboring a stray animal by allowing the unlicensed Bobby to stay in the churchyard, so they were taking Bobby and many other dogs into custody. There was a court hearing where the judge sentenced at least a dozen stray dogs to be poisoned until dead (poisoned little by little) because no owner came forward to register them. Ewan went to see the Lord Provost (Sir William Chambers) without an appointment for help in freeing Bobby. Right before the judge sentenced Bobby to death, Lord Provost appeared and agreed with the judge that diseased and dangerous animals should be removed from the street but Bobby was neither. The judge replied that Bobby was a stray and in the eyes of the law needed to be punished (wait until God got ahold of that judge’s soul), and the Lord Provost pointed out that he owned the dog because he ran the city council which ran the church. He paid the judge for Bobby to be set free, but then Johnson stood up wanting the Lord Provost to make a guarantee that Bobby would remain confined to the Greyfriars churchyard. Lord Provost couldn’t do that, and Ewan passed a note down to the constable to give to Lord Provost. He read the note aloud, and it was a list of names of great men (which Ewan learned from the book John gave him). Lord Provost announced that just like the heroes of their city, Bobby deserved freedom so it was granted to him. Maureen came for the celebration in the churchyard, and Ewan returned the history book to her. Lord Provost offered Ewan an apprenticeship in his publishing house, and Ewan agreed. The movie ended with Lord Provost vowing that all the citizens of Edinburgh would be given the opportunity to show the good they had in them. Close-Up Film was quoted on the movie cover art as saying, “A charming little family film.”

TITLE: Hackers

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1995  MGM Home Entertainment / United Artists Pictures

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Seattle in 1988. It began with the SWAT team breaking into the Murphy house and arresting Dade Murphy, aka Zero Cool, for committing several criminal acts of a malicious nature by using his intelligence to a destructive and antisocial end. Dade’s computer virus crashed 1,507 systems, including Wall Street trading systems causing a seven-point drop in the New York Stock Market. Child genius Dade was eleven-years-old at the time and his parents were fined $45,000 and Dade was put on probation and prohibited from owning or operating a computer or touch-tone phone until his eighteenth birthday. A gang of reporters shoved cameras in young Dade’s face as he and his family walked to the car. Seven years later on Dade’s 18th birthday, his mom (dad no longer in the picture) asked him what he was doing up so late in his room. He said he was hacking into the TV network and Mom told him to finish up and get to bed. In his room, Dade had a professional hacker setup that he used to access private information from companies he targeted and even made a phone call to one pretending to be an employee asking another employee to read the serial number off his modem. The other employee believed Dade’s disguise and thus it helped Dade delete the shows that were programmed to televise and replace them with what Dade wanted to see. Dade removed an “America First,” episode from the television network and replaced it with “The Outer Limits.” Dade then encountered a hacker named Acid Burn who hacked him hacking the television network. The two hackers fought for control of what they were hacking sending threatening messages back and forth until Dade lost and his connection was terminated. The next morning, mom Lauren asked Dade if he had done anything he shouldn’t have been doing on his computer because he had pulled another all-nighter and she was concerned that he didn’t like girls, and he replied no and that he was still virgin. While Dade was in the shower, Lauren shouted at him for hooking the phone up to the computer again and told him that if he messed up again he would never get into college. Lauren apologized that they had to move during Dade’s senior year in high school (Dade being 18), but she got a new job so they relocated to New York City. At school, Kate Libby helped Dade get to his class at his new school and told him there was a big pool up on the roof. Dade went up there, but it turned out he had been tricked and there was no pool, just a group of other kids were on the roof and it started pouring rain and Dade was stuck out there because he didn’t leave the door ajar. Ramón Sánchez saw Dade switching his classes to match Libby’s by hacking into the school system, and so then Ramón approached Dade and introduced himself as the Fantom Phreak, the king of the NyNex game. Ramón slapped Joey Pardella across the face because he called Ramón a dude (when Ramón was dressed somewhat feminine) and told Joey to stop letting his mama dress him. Dade went to the Cyberdelia arcade that night which Ramón gave him a flyer for and was the first person to ever beat Kate at a game and he did it on his first try and Ramón told him that he just made an enemy for life. That night, Dade changed the school sprinkler time so it came on when school was in session. In class, Kate quoted her mom Ruth Libby as saying “God gave men brains larger than dogs so they wouldn’t hump women’s legs at cocktail parties.” The teacher questioned if Kate’s mom was qualified as a significant author of the 20th century, and Kate replied that Ruth’s last book (a woman self-help book) sold 2 million copies. Emmanuel Goldstein quoted Ozzy Osbourne as saying “Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most.” Lauren told Dade to fill out his college application and unpack while she went back to work and would be home late. Back at Cyberdelia, the four hackers (Dade, Ramón, Joey and Emmanuel, aka Cereal Killer) sat around smoking and Joey bragged about accidentally hacking into an ATM in Idaho that spit out $700 into the street. Ramón said Joey was dumb for doing that from his house because the FBI could track him, and then it was said that the four main passwords people used were “God, sex, secret and love.” They suggested that Joey do a seriously righteous hack, such as going in the back door to hack into a Gibson, which was a supercomputer used to look for oil and do physics. Joey, encouraged by his hacker mates, then hacked into the Ellingson Mineral Corporation (EMC) system and put the password “God,” on their screen for the security to see. The Gibson security guard called Eugene Belford, who wanted to be called The Plague, and said they had a hacker. Before Joey aborted, he got proof that he was in the system by copying part of a garbage file onto a floppy disk. The Plague showed up and was able to locate the hacker and called for the system’s control ops so he could trace the call of the hacker. Joey’s mom then banged on his chain locked door he quickly tried to spray the room to get rid of the smoke smell before he unlocked it. She barged in and shut Joey’s computer off, which aborted his hacking garbage file download and she told her son to go to bed. The Plague was able to trace the call and notify his pal with the federal authorities. Joey took the floppy disk that partially copied and hid it in the ventilation system in his bedroom. The hackers then showed up to hang out at Paul Cook’s (Lord Nikon) house, and they all watched on TV as the US Secret Service Special Agent Richard Gill talked about how hackers were extremely dangerous to the world so he was called the Hacker Enemy Number One. They switched the channel and watched Razor and Blade on Hack the Planet who taught them that hacking was more than a crime it was a survival trait. Razor and Blade demonstrated how to hack a payphone for free. In the next scene, Joey sang Wild One in the shower with his headphones on. When he shut the water off, he was apprehended by Secret Service agents and brought to the couch to sit on with a towel around his waist while they took his computer out of the house and his mom screamed trying to figure out what was going on. As Joey jumped up to grab his computer, the towel fell down and the Joey’s bare butt was exposed. Agent Gill did an interview with Jennifer from the local news outside Joey’s apartment as Joey was taken down the stairs behind him. Agent Gill said that penetrated and ravaged delicate private and publicly owned computer systems infecting them with viruses and stealing sensitive materials for their own ends. He added that the hackers were terrorists. There was an EMC corporate meeting held to discuss the hacked security and it was pointed out that female Margo Wallace had used God as her password and thus the hacker got in. Eugene Belford (the Plague) told Her Holiness Margo to change her password and explained to the others that the ballast program for the supertanker training model mistakenly thought the vessel was empty and flooded its tanks so the boat flipped over as a result of the virus being in the Gibson computer system (that The Plague was paid to prevent from happening). The virus video was then played that used an anime face from Da vinci’s human man sketch stating that unless $5 million was transferred to the following numbered account within a week, the hacker would capsize 5 tankers in the Ellingson fleet. Eugene said that Leonardo da Vinci was the virus, and the problem was they had 26 ships at sea and didn’t know which 5 were infected with the virus. Eugene went on to say that they couldn’t put the ships on manual anymore because they were completely computerized controlled and relied on satellite navigation that linked them to the EMC’s network and the virus wherever they were in the world. Eugene said they had a gifted and talented security officer who was able to trace the call and the Secret Service picked up the hacker and computer so then Eugene could obtain the information necessary to destroy the virus. Privately, after the corporate meeting, Eugene and Margo Wallace conversed and he told her that he (Eugene) created da Vinci so he could get the Secret Service involved to seize the downloaded garbage file on disc from Joey’s computer because Eugene couldn’t do that himself. It turned out Eugene created the virus that would cause an ecological worldwide disaster because it was worth $25 million and he was using the virus to blame on the kid being arrested while Eugene and Margo conspired to steal the $25 million they secretly were stealing from the company using a worm. Eugene said he could destroy the virus at any time and didn’t need a code, but it was the perfect cover because he needed to figure out how much of the Garbage file was copied. Margo told Eugene to get the file otherwise he would lose all of his toys. Later on, Eugene met with Agent Gill and said he never found the virus on any of the files on Joey’s computer so Joey was either smart or stupid. Agent Gill told Eugene that Joey either stashed it somewhere or had an accomplice, and they would release Joey until his indictment and track the kid with undercover agents to see if they could find the missing disk.  Agents Ray and Bob assigned to babysit Joey discussed the hacker creed where the hackers said they were the victims and didn’t believe in racial or religious bias and there were too many hackers out there to stop them. One agent said it was cool and the other thought it was commie B.S. At school, Ramón and Emmanuel told Dade that Joey was arrested and his mom grounded him for three lifetimes so he couldn’t be around his hacker buddies. They invited Dade to a party at Kate’s house that night and he agreed. Agent Gill then brought The Plague (who was currently playing virtual reality games in his office with his headset) a file on Dade and thought they had something. Minutes later, the Secret Service forced their way into Dade’s apartment when he opened the door to their knock (and Lauren wasn’t home) and told him to shut up as they roughed the teen up and pointed guns at him. The Plague was there, and they told Dade they didn’t find anything in his room when they searched it. The Plague told the Secret Service to leave so they could have a private conversation, and he was in awe of the virus that Dade created when he was 11 that destroyed so many lives in one day. Eugene explained that hackers had no friends and family and they were their own individual country with temporary allies and enemies. The Plague asked Zero Cool if they could be allies so they could make a deal, and Dade replied no because he didn’t play well with others. That didn’t sit well with Eugene so he took the baseball bat he was holding and use it to smash the electronics around Dade’s room while the feds stood outside the door waiting. Eugene said that if Dade went to jail then he wouldn’t be able to get into colleges and would be exiled from everyone and everything and Eugene left and said he would be in touch. The Secret Service agents then left with The Plague. In the next scene, Kate barged into Dade’s bedroom, unzipped her jacket with nothing underneath it with her bare breasts exposed, and pushed Dade down on the bed and started kissing him passionately. However, the Secret Service men then came and pulled Kate off from Dade and handcuffed him while he was still in bed. They took both teens out of the room while he was still in bed with The Plague present, and then Dade woke up from his nightmare and ended up going to Kate’s party. It switched scenes with Joey at an addict meeting telling everyone that he wasn’t an addict as he smoked a cigarette and guzzled coffee. At Kate’s house party (no parents of hers around the entire movie) hackers Nikon, Killer, Fantom and Cool were in a room and shut the lights off to stare at a virus on the computer. Nearby on the bed lay Kate and her boyfriend taking their clothes off about to have sex with the hackers watching. Because the other boys all made noises, Kate jumped up and was then more interested in the virus she was creating on her computer and told them that she wanted to triple the RAM as though she wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary a few seconds ago and left her boyfriend hanging. It was then revealed that Kate was Acid Burn, which made Crash (Override) and Burn. Kate wasn’t happy that Dade invaded her turf that was why she booted Dade out of O TV when he was hacking. Meanwhile, Margo showed up at Eugene’s crib and he told her that he disguised himself as an Alabama state trooper and penetrated the FBI NCIC to look at mugshots. He went on to explain that the FBI computer held the files of 20 million Americans and he bragged that he just hacked into it as he zipped up his coworker’s dress. Eugene said he got access to every file ever stored on Dade Murphy’s parents and went on to read the history so it turned out ever since the incident from Dade hacking at 11 the parents struggled with their relationship and ended up finally getting into a custody battle and divorcing the previous year where Dade wanted to live with his mom. The Plague said that if they got the mother, they got the boy. Dade and Kate then agreed upon a hacker competition bet where if Kate won she would make Dade her slave and if Dade won he would take Kate on a date even though she said she didn’t do dates. The contest was to hassle (harass) Secret Service Agent Gill and to get one back for Joey, and the other hackers laid out the rules and told the two opponents that they were finished when the backers said they were finished and the others would decide who won. They started in Chinatown using an ATM to hack Richard Gill’s account, and Kate destroyed Gill’s credit cards. It was when Gill was out at dinner with a female that the waiter brought him his credit card that was declined and cut the card in half at the table. Dade then put an ad on a dating site using Agent Gill’s profile with the description with him as a white cross-dresser (when he was a black man) and transvestites welcome. They attached Gill’s real phone numbers, and later on in his office it showed Agent Gill’s phone lines lit up from perverted from mentally ill perverted sex addict callers wanting to spank and lick Gill. On a rooftop, the hackers used a laptop and typed in Agent Richard Gill’s personal information again and created fake arrest records in the police system for traffic violations and DUIs. In the next scene, a black police officer roughly arrested the black agent Gill on a traffic stop for outstanding warrants in the system that were illegally put there by the hackers. In another hack, Dade filed in the county clerk’s system a death record that Agent Gill died so when Agent Gill asked for his accounting records, it showed that he was deceased. At that point, Kate and Dade were both tied with 60 points each, and the two gamer hackers changed the stakes where Kate had to wear a dress on their date if Dade won, but if Kate won Dade had to wear a dress. Later on, Kate had a queer dream of Dade being in a vinyl red dress and petted by her and she actually liked it. The next day at school at Kate’s locker, she showed Dade the red bra and panties that she got for him to wear in the event he lost. That afternoon, Dade, wearing a half-shirt, signed for a UPS package at his apartment at home. It was a laptop from The Plague and then The Plague called Dade “Zero Cool,” and explained the new world order where governments and corporations needed people like Eugene and Dade because they were samurai and keyboard cowboys. All the people that didn’t know what was going on were the cattle, and Eugene told Dade he needed his help and Dade needed Eugene’s help so to think about it but in the meantime to enjoy the laptop. Eugene asked Dade to get the missing disk that Joey hid. Meanwhile, Joey’s mom ungrounded him and Joey jumped up to check and see if the disk was still there and it was. Joey retrieved the floppy disk and took it outside to the park to meet up with Ramón. Joey showed Ramón the floppy disk, and Ramón told him that a Garbage file was always full of junk but Joey argued that this one wasn’t and it was hot because the Secret Service were after him. Sitting on a bench were the two Secret Service agents assigned to Joey were subtly taking pictures of the two teens talking without them knowing the agents were there. Ramón recognized the Nikon camera pointed at them and told Joey they had a tail, so they both split up and ran with the Secret Service pursuing them. Ramón had the disk and used his gum to attach the floppy disk to the back of a wall on a condom dispenser inside the boys bathroom locker room at school. Ramón then raced home to remove anything hacker-wise from his room that would be suspicious if he got raided. Ramón then had a nightmare of the government coming for him, and as his mom woke him up the next morning for school and opened the blinds, gunmen came through the window and told Ramón he was under arrest for the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. Ramón’s mom started slapping him and yelling in Spanish, and he wanted to be arrested to get away from her punishment. In the jail, the officer left Ramón alone with the phone and explained to the hacker that he only got one call and left without supervising. Ramón used his one call to call Kate and told her they were asking about her and to be on alert. Ramón confirmed that Joey did hack into Ellingson because whatever was on that disk was framing them all (and not happy he was in jail) and told Kate in secret code words where to find the disk. Kate went to the boys’ locker room inside the boys’ bathroom and nonchalantly retrieved the disk from behind a condom machine and walked out holding an actual condom so all the boys that stared at her wouldn’t be suspicious of what she was really doing. Kate and Cereal Killer Emmanuel then showed up at Dade’s house where his mom let them in to see Dade in his bedroom. Emmanuel said they had a wake-up call from the Nintendo generation and they demanded free access to data and that came with some responsibility. He then said he talked and did things like a child when he was a child, but he put away childish things when he became a man, which was his version of quoting 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 11, to try to get Kate and Dade to correspond on civil terms with each other and get help for their hacker teammates that was jailed. The two decided to work together to figure out what was on the floppy. Kate explained that Ramón and Joey were being framed and needed help from Dade to find out what was on the disk, and he said he couldn’t afford to be arrested because anybody who had that disk was being put in jail. Emmanuel left so Dade and Kate could be alone, and Kate closed the bedroom door. Kate tried to be nice then and say they were on the same team and acted out of her normal character (sweet instead of mean) and asked Dade to make an extra copy of the disk and hide it in the event that she and Emmanuel got busted so they would have a backup disk that hadn’t been tampered with to give to their attorneys. Lauren interrupted because she wasn’t sure what her son was up to and told them to help themselves to anything in the fridge because Cereal Killer already did. Lauren glared at Dade where Kate couldn’t see to warn him not to do anything illegal before Lauren closed the door again. Dade told Kate he would copy the floppy disk for her. In the next scene, Dade and The Plague were conversing on the phone where Eugene told Dade that the girl had the disk and he needed Dade to get it from her. Dade reminded Eugene that he didn’t play well with others, and then Eugene told Dade to turn on his laptop and set it to receive a file because Eugene had Dade’s mom’s mugshot up on his screen from the National Crime Information Center that he wanted to show Dade. The Plague told Dade that Lauren Murphy was now a wanted felon in the state of Washington because Eugene made it up and added Lauren to the criminal system using the name Isabelle Kostic-Crosby but with Lauren’s photo and information. The charges were forgery (May 1982), embezzlement (Jan 1985), two drug convictions (possession of heroin, August 1987, and possession of crack cocaine December 1990) and she jumped parole (July 1994) so when she was arrested she wouldn’t have a trial and would go directly to jail. Eugene added that once he got the Garbage file disk, then he would erase Lauren’s criminal record that spanned several years and she would no longer be in the system as a wanted illegal. Eugene went on to say that computers didn’t lie and if Dade didn’t cooperate, his mom would be handcuffed at work and then strip-searched. Dade said if The Plague touched his mom then Dade would kill him, and Eugene told the teen not to threaten him because there were worse things than death and he could do all of them. As Lauren slept on her small makeshift bed, Dade went into her room and covered her with a blanket and then left to go to a payphone in a secluded area of the dark city. Dade called Eugene back and said he had the disk, but Kate didn’t know what was on it and she came to Dade to figure it out. Dade told Eugene to leave Kate alone because she wasn’t the one who planted the virus, and Eugene replied not to worry because Kate would be fine if she was innocent and mommy was safe now. Dade hung up the payphone and waited around several minutes for The Plague to show up and pick up the disk. Eugene arrived dressed in all black riding his skateboard and holding onto the passenger side of a car ducking down so he wouldn’t be seen on camera. Dade held up the disk, and The Plague snatched it out of Dade’s hand as he rolled by and kept going without saying a word to Dade. Eugene then turned on steam to block the train tracks pathway so Dade wasn’t able to chase after him. Dade then went to meet up with Kate, Cereal (Emmanuel) and Nikon (Paul) as they all looked at the virus and tried to decode what was on the Garbage file. They had been at it for a while, so Dade sat down to see what he could do to unscramble the virus code. They spent many hours working together (with no parents around at all) and pulled an all-nighter ordering pizza. Dade figured out that it wasn’t a virus; it was a worm that nibbled. Dade explained that one part of the data was every financial transaction that Ellingson conducted from the million dollar deals to the ten bucks some guy paid for gas and the worm ate a few cents from each transaction. Dade added that no one got caught at it because the money wasn’t really gone and it was just data being shifted around. When the worm was ready, it zipped out with the money and erased its track, and Dade said that Joey got cut off before he downloaded that part to the disk because his mom put him to bed. Dade went on to say that it already ran at twice the speed it started and at that rate it would end its run in two days, and I had already eaten about $21.8 million. Kate explained that whoever wrote the worm was using hackers Phreak, Joey and them to take the fall so they could steal the money and run. The teens (with adult Nikon) decided they needed to get the rest of the file and found out where the money was going before the worm disappeared and find out who created it. Dade exclaimed that he knew who wrote the file and it was the Ellingson security creep Eugene. Dade said he gave The Plague a copy of the disk Kate gave him, and the others weren’t happy to hear what Dade did and called it universally stupid. Kate asked Dade why he was singled out and he replied that he had a record and was known as Zero Cool. Nikon immediately recognized the name and said Dade crashed 1507 systems in one day at age 11 and it was the biggest crash in history on the front page of the New York Times on August 10, 1988. Nikon said he thought Dade was black, and then everybody was excited because they had Zero Cool in their presence as if he was a fantastic idol to worship. Kate was excluded from the excitement and said there went her chance of getting into MIT, and Dade replied he would make it up to her by hacking the Gibson. Nikon said Dade would be caught right away and the cops would find him with a smoking gun, and Dade said the f-word if he cared. Nikon went on to say that even if Dade had the password, it would take him ten minutes to get in and then he would still have to find the rest of the Garbage file and the cops would have him in five minutes. Killer said they were fried in his far-out hippie way, and Kate said never send a boy to do a woman’s job and with her they could find the file in seven minutes. Killer chimed in that with his help they could do it in six minutes, and Nikon said Jesus in vain because he had to save all their a**es because if he helped they would do it in five minutes. They all agreed to go shopping, and with a full blue moon overhead Kate and Dade used wire cutters to cut the EMC corporate fence and broke in. They fell into the dumpster together and used flashlights to search for documents, but then a security guard came outside and shouted at them. Kate shot her flare gun by the side of the security guard’s head and sending sparks around his body so the teens could escape. Meanwhile, Nikon and Killer were by a manhole with a city truck parked near it. They stole construction clothing and hard-hats but then a worker came aboveground and they shouted truck so he disappeared back into the hole thinking he was going to get run over and the hackers ran off with their stolen goods. At the Secret Service building, Emmanuel popped up out from underneath the secretary’s desk and told her the phone was alright as Agent Gill walked away and didn’t see the hacker in the office. Emmanuel walked away showing his butt crack because his pants were falling down. Meanwhile, Nikon was inside the Ellingson building using a computer and once done walked by the Plague and pretended to deliver flowers. In his office, Eugene explained to Margo that the portion of the file that the teens were able to record on file was enough to implicate both of them. Margo wasn’t happy because Eugene told her the worm was untraceable, and Eugene agreed that it was to civilians but not to other hackers. Eugene told Margo not to worry because all they had to do was launch the da Vinci virus and then Dade and Co. would be put away. Margo told Eugene he couldn’t unleash the virus, and he replied that nobody believed the guilty and by the time they realized the truth, the two of them would be long gone with all the money they stole. Eugene jumped up from his chair and told Margo there was no right and wrong, only fun and boring and a 30-year prison sentence sounded dull to him. He asked Margo who she preferred served the sentence, them or the teen hackers. The Plague then went to his computer (with the screensaver of the da Vinci man) and launched the virus, and Eugene explained to his buddy Agent Gill on the phone that the virus would go off the following morning at 10:30 a.m. and the hackers tried to get into their system again. The screen showed a Mysia tanker, and Eugene told Gill that at that point, he insisted they take more strenuous action or Ellingson Mineral would hold the Secret Service responsible. Afterwards, Gill called for arrest warrants on Kate Libby, alias Acid Burn, Emmanuel Goldstein, alias Cereal Killer, Dade Murphy, alias Crash Override also known as Zero Cool, and Paul Cook, alias Lord Nikon. Paul and Emmanuel were in the basement listening in on Agent Gill’s phone conversation saying the hackers would be picked up the following morning at 9:00 a.m. The two hackers code snoop onto them as they snoop onto us so now they knew what the Secret Service was up to. Paul called Kate and told her they had a problem with Secret Service, and all of them met up on the subway and went through the 50 passcodes they stole from the Ellingson dumpster. Emmanuel asked what the da Vinci virus was because he read a memo about how the Secret Service were going to deal with oil spills on the fourteenth if the virus was unleashed. The hackers figured out the fourteenth was the same day the worm ended its run and the oil spills hadn’t happened yet because it was the thirteenth. Kate said that was what Phreak said he was being charged with “Infecting ballast program of Ellingson tankers,” and were blaming the hackers. They were upset because they were up against a worm and a virus and they needed to figure out how to clear their names in less than 24 hours. Kate left the subway train telling the males to hang low because they had a few hours before they were arrested and Kate was going to go get some helpand would beep them. She took Dade with her, and Emmanuel told Dade…may the force be with you. Kate brought Dade to the freakish jam-packed nightclub to hook up with Razor and Blade because the two Asians were elite. Dade tried to climb onstage to talk to Razor and Blade who made an exit when a live black rapper started singing and playing head-banging music. Dade was carried around by the crowd and put on the jumbotron cams for the crowd to watch. Dade and Kate searched the building to find Razor and Blade and they ended up in the security room where the camera footage was. A robotic arm held a gun on them, and Razor and Blade came onscreen the cameras and asked Dade and Kate what they wanted and why they were there. Kate explained that a virus called da Vinci would cause oil spills at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time the following day. Dade chimed in that it was somehow connected with the worm that was stealing the money and they needed the Razor and Blade’s help to overload the Gibson and kill the da Vinci virus and download the worm program. They called Kate rabid but cute and said they were busy because a TV network that wished to remain nameless had expressed an interest in their show. Razor and Blade said the teens would need an electronic army and not just two media icons like them. They suggested the teens get on the Internet and send out a major distress signal to unite the hackers of the world, and they plotted to take care of the cops that got in their way. Dade hacked into the DMV system and made the traffic signals go haywire so the cops could be endlessly busy trying to direct traffic on the hacker’s watch. While Nikon played chess in the park, next to him Killer got a page text from Kate “Grand Central Hack The Planet.” They left to go hit Grand Central, but not before Nikon checkmated the rabbi and other man. En route to the station on their rollerblades, the Secret Service agents chased them down, and because they set the traffic override to 9:00 a.m. in that location, it went into effect and caused the streets to be chaotic and multiple vehicle accidents happened that involved the Secret Service car and Agent Gill. The hackers hooked their laptop computers to the payphones at Grand Central Station, and Kate leading the team told them they had to get into the Plague’s file and copy the worm. Kate sent Emmanuel off to fix the phones, and they were happy that Joey was able to make it to help them pull off their hacking. The dozens of Ellingson workers all had their computers hacked and shut down where they were unusable with replacement screens featuring random writing. In the control room, Margo asked Eugene what was going on and he replied it was a minor glitch. Eugene sat down to the main computer and on the screen was “I want a cookie. Give me a cookie, NOW!” from Cookie Monster. Another employee said there was a new virus in the database and it replicated and ate up memory showing Cookie Monster eating all the cookies. Eugene told the employee to type “cookie,” and called him an idiot for not knowing that and added he would head them off at the pass. However, a zero bug then attacked all the login and overlay files and Eugene told the employee to run anti-virus and give him a systems display. They were informed that they lost systems 10 through 40, and Eugene pushed a button and told the dickweeds to die. By doing that, he infected the hackers’ computers with a virus. An employee said the rabbit was in the administration system, and Eugene ordered for them to send a flu shot. It was explained to Margo that a rabbit replicated until it overloaded a file and then it spread like cancer. Kate said the Gibson was finding them too fast, and Dade said there were too many Garbage files and he needed more time. Eugene was then able to pinpoint the location of the hackers and told the Secret Service on the phone that the teens were at Grand Central Station on the lower level and not to screw up their arrests. It was all systems go to the station by Gill and his Feds and domestic police. A payphone rang next to Dade, and when he picked it up The Plague told him the game was over and it was his last chance to get out of it without a prison sentence because he wasn’t good enough to beat Eugene and called him a little sh**. Dade wasn’t about to give it up. Kate got a phone call from Razor and Blade telling her they were onboard. There was also an executive man sitting at his laptop saying they were ready to go along with foreign people all working together to defeat The Plague attack. It was reported at Ellingson that they had massive infection with multiple GPI and FSI viruses coming from remote nodes and they were going for the kernel (the brain and the system command processor) causing brain cancer. An corporate executive came into the control room and asked Eugene Belford what was going on, and he replied in short, Duke, it was a sh** storm. Grand Central Station was then invaded with dozens of Secret Service gunmen causing the crowd to run in fear. Dade found the Garbage file he was looking for and told everyone, and Eugene noticed that and told Dade it was the end for his friend. The Plague shut Dade’s computer down with a massive virus then. The hackers walked over to Joey and told him to drop his virus and go after the worm since he was the closet to it on his computer. Dade said it was root, slash, period, work space, slash, period, garbage, period. Dade had to tell Joey because he was an amateur hacker to teach him how to hack professionally. The Feds made their way through the station and as they came around the corner with Gill in the lead pulling their guns at the payphone expecting people to be there, all they saw were the dangling phones with an out of service sign because the hackers were at a different location. The teens were able to copy the garbage file completely and Kate told Razor and Blade to kill the Gibson and they said roger that. Like a bad video game, Eugene shouted at the screen like a madman after The Plague was defeated by the younger teens’ worldwide, universal mastermind hacker team. It was reported that the tankers stopped capsizing and the ballast tanks were emptying and they should be okay. On the corporation’s control room screen was “Arf! Arf! We Gotcha…Mess with the best, die like the rest,” for The Plague and Co. to see. Just as the hackers were about to leave the terminal, the Secret Service found them and pointed guns at them. As they were handcuffed and walked by the trash, one teen threw the floppy disk into the trashcan at the Grand Central station. Dade screamed outside as he was being arrested and taken to the car that the Feds were trashing their rights and the flow of data and screamed for the onlookers to hack the planet. Emmanuel responded in the crowd with hack the planet and went to the trashcan after the Feds were gone and retrieved the downloaded disk inside the trash. Agent Gill made a call to The Plague and told him they caught the teens red-handed and Ellingson wouldn’t be having any more trouble from them. Eugene and Margo drank champagne to toast their success of stealing millions of dollars and laughed about it. In the interrogation room, Dade tried to say that Kate knew nothing about computers and was just his girlfriend, and Agent Gill told Dade to modify his attitude because he was floating and Gill was about to flush Dade’s a**. They were interrupted when Lauren Murphy arrived so Gill left. Dade told Kate he was trying to help her and she thanked him for it. Dade flipped a switch so he could hear what was being said in another room between his mom and Agent Gill. Agent Gill said Dade was in a bunch of trouble because he violated his probation and engaged in criminal activity and had 30 felony counts. Lauren said her son happened to be a genius and understood things the agent couldn’t comprehend if he lived to be 100 and Dade would never use his knowledge to harm another human being. Another agent arrived to say the news crew arrived and Lauren said she had something to tell them and she faced possible arrest if she did that. Dade couldn’t believe his mom said she didn’t care if she died, she was going to speak up for her son after being threatened by Agent Gill. Gill later gave a press conference about them not seeing the last of the hi-tech espionage because hackers were a grave threat to national security and the incident just proved without a doubt that the Secret Service needed increased funding. In the background, an Obama look-alike agent led Joey and Nikon past the interview site, and then they had TV interference with the Cereal Killer coming on their screen and other screens televised through the city saying hello in Spanish making his first coast to coast, worldwide global television appearance, with the help from Razor and Blade. Joey and Nikon ran to the TV screen to listen, and they started laughing and pointing and Dade and Kate watched too. Emmanuel said he was there to tell them about a heinous scheme hatched from within Ellingson Mineral, but not for world domination but for a virus called da Vinci that if launched would cause Ellingson Mineral tankers to capsize. The virus would be blamed on innocent hackers and the virus was really the smoke screen to cover the tracks of the worm program that would steal $25 million. The password to launch the worm belonged to Margo Wallace, head of public relations for Ellingson Minerals, and Eugene Belford, the computer security officer. Margo and Eugene watched this from Eugene’s bed and freaked out. Agent Gill swore at the screen, and then Emmanuel put the account number of the unnamed account in the Bahamas that held the stolen $25 million. Emmanuel then said he kind of felt like God as he sat in Razor and Blade’s production room supervising the on air event. Eugene didn’t stay around to talk to Margo and had already fled the bed to make his solo getaway without his lover. The teens celebrated in the Secret Service building, and then Margo was arrested and told the police that she didn’t know how to work a VCR, let alone a computer so she was protesting her arrest. As Margo was being brought down the cell block, she said she wanted to make a deal to get her out of her predicament by telling the officers she knew where Eugene’s mother was and she called for an attorney. Eugene, in disguise as Mr. Babbage, was on a flight to Tokyo, Japan, and it would be about 14 hours until they landed. When Eugene asked the flight attendant for a pillow and he reached up to adjust it behind his head, Agent Gill was on the plane and handcuffed The Plague on the spot. Eugene threw a fit and said he would never fly that airline again. Meanwhile in the park in the dark, Dade and Kate were on a date with her wearing a dress. She said he would have looked better in a dress. Next, the two went for a rooftop swim in the pool with their clothes on. Kate couldn’t believe the hacker team decided that Dade won, and he replied that they didn’t feel that way but decided to make Dade the victor because they felt it was the only way he would get a date. Dade called Kate a pretty good and elite hacker. For the grand finale, Dade hacked lights on three NY skyscraper glass tower buildings with the words “Crash and Burn,” and they laughed about it. They discussed their weird dreams and made out passionately in the water with Kate’s dress up on the screen showing her panties and stockings. The movie ended with the two taking their clothes off (down to Kate’s bra) underneath the surface of a New York rooftop city pool. TITLE:  Silver Wolf

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1999 Digiview Entertainment / Blue Rider Entertainment / GFT Entertainment / Legacy Filmworks Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Washington and began with John Rockwell and his teenage son Clay shooting at four wolves to get them away from the Rockwell cattle herd. The males shot the silver wolf while the other three escaped unharmed. Meanwhile, Northern Washington National Park ranger Roy McLean took his older brother Frank and teenage nephew Jesse in his helicoper into the Washington mountains on a ski trip. Roy planned to pick them up at the end of the trip, and Frank explained to Jesse that their dad dropped them off in the bush on their sixteenth birthdays to see which of them was responsible and could take care of himself. Frank told the story that Roy had plans of his own and stayed in the woods for 12 days, so even though he was supposed to inherit the house-building company after their dad died, Frank did instead because he was focused and it only took him 2 days to get home. As they skied (with Frank on skis and Jesse on his snowboard), Jesse talked back to his dad because he didn’t want Frank telling him what to do. Jesse (too busy mouthing off) fell and ended up dangling over a cliff edge. Frank was killed instantly after he tried to save his son because Frank ended up falling off the cliff and landed hundreds of feet below. Anna, Jesse’s estranged mom who walked out on the family what seemed like years ago, came for Frank’s funeral and told Jesse that Frank (dad) took risks and gambled the finances, and this time it didn’t pan out so the house had to be sold and Jesse could not stay in his childhood home. Jesse argued that his life was where he was and he didn’t want to live with Anna in a one-bedroom apartment, so he decided that he wanted to live in Uncle Roy’s cabin in the park. It was okay with Roy, and Anna agreed as well and said that Jesse was right and they both needed to go their separate ways. Jesse got settled in at the cabin, and during his first time out in the park snowboarding he found the silver wolf that had been shot. He went to get Roy, who planned to shoot the wolf dead because he was starving to death. Jesse convinced Roy to bring the wolf to the cabin and keep him in a cage outside while he recovered. Jesse complained to his uncle that there was no pizza or TV, and Roy said he didn’t have time for TV because he took long walks, read, worked and did other things, not to mention there was no one who would deliver pizza to them out there in the park. Jesse named the wolf Silver and was upset that Silver refused to eat or even look at Jesse. Roy told Jesse that he needed to form a bond with Silver and then the wolf would follow him to the ends of the earth. However, Jesse needed to get rid of his anger at his situation because Silver sensed that and was keeping his distance. Jesse slept in a tent outside Silver’s cage at night and read him Little Red Riding Good, and he and Silver bonded and Jesse was able to hand-feed Silver. Silver was eventually let out of his cage into a closed in pen, but he wouldn’t approach Jesse. Jesse refused to take the school bus so he could avoid Clay Rockwell and his bully buddies. Clay’s younger sister Lucinda (Lucy) (always alone in the woods by herself or on the rural road) told Jesse that she would keep her brother and the school bullies at bay if Jesse taught her how to snowboard. Jesse replied that he couldn’t teach Lucy after school because he hung out with a friend (four-legged). Lucy told Jesse that she was training for the Ranchers’ Association Cross Country Classic that her brother Clay had won three years in a row. Lucy and Clay’s dad, John, was the president of the Ranchers’ Association, and the competition included dirt bikes and skijoring (a person snowboarding or skiing with a dog pulling them). Lucy practiced by rollerblading on the main road with her dog pulling her. Lucy then rode Jesse’s skateboard while he rode her bike down the middle of the narrow country road. Jesse refused to take his lunchbox to school because he didn’t want to eat Roy’s green health food, so he hid it in the bushes. One day he discovered that the lunchbox was gone because Roy took it and left in its place two gift certificates to a local burger joint. Another day, Jesse left the pen gate open while Roy was fixing the truck. The horn went off and Roy bonked his head hurting himself, and then Silver made a run for the gate. Jesse tripped on a rock, fell, and hit his head on another rock when he tried to run and close Silver’s gate that Jesse left open. Silver, out of the enclosure, stood watch over Jesse’s still unconsious body and growled at Roy to keep him away. Jesse woke up and after making his way over to his uncle, Jesse hugged Roy showing Silver that Roy was a friend. Roy told Jesse that he was now accepted into a wolf pack. Lucy came around hoping that Jesse wasn’t busy that day and could teach her to snowboard, and he agreed and she drove them both on her ATV through the woods to the top of a mountain. After they snowboarded, Lucy asked Jesse about his friend the wolf so he took her to Silver’s pen and introduced them. Jesse rubbed his body against Lucy’s to get his scent on her and make her familiar to Silver, and the wolf accepted Lucy. When Lucy got home, she covered her tracks and used the logic that since Clay never told dad what he did or where he went, neither would Lucy. John had overheard Silver’s pack howling in response to Jesse and Silver’s howls, and John wasn’t happy so he went to see Roy. John noticed the pen with wolf tracks and threatened to have Roy relocated to Alaska if he didn’t stick to fence mending and bird identifying instead of messing around with caring for an injured wolf. Roy argued that was his job and Silver posed no threat to the cattle herd, and John said that it was pointless to care for Silver because it was against the law to release a wolf back into the wild. John had a guilty conscience when Roy mentioned that it was also against the law to shoot a wolf. Jesse and Roy then discovered that Silver escaped through a hole in the fence and they were able to find the wolf by nightfall. Jesse repaired the hole, but Roy told him that wouldn’t stop Silver if he really wanted to leave so he needed to be kept on a chain. Anna called Roy to tell him she was coming for a visit in a week, and Roy cooked a special treat of pork chops. Anna got a house in the country and hoped Jesse would come live with her in Seattle, but he still didn’t want to. Roy added that he was considering sending Silver to the Toronto Zoo and that made Jesse upset. Lucy and Jesse taught Silver to do skijoring so Jesse could enter the RACCC and prove that Silver wasn’t a dangerous wolf. When Jesse tried to enter Silver, John told him that wolves weren’t allowed. Roy appeared and informed John that he went to town hall and found a law passed in 1899 permitting dogs and wolves to be in the cities and the park as long as they were leashed and muzzled. Roy said he would look the other way on the leash/muzzle issue if John looked the other way on the wolf, and John agreed as long as Silver was muzzled. John threatened Roy again that Roy would take the bullet if Silver harmed anyone. When Anna arrived, she bragged about the house and told Jesse that it was time for her to live with him. He argued that he was at home and needed to keep Silver out of prison, and Anna replied that sometimes anger was a prison and sometimes you need to walk away. Jesse said that his dad didn’t think so and neither did Jesse so he wasn’t leaving his family, Uncle Roy and Silver. As the dirt biking half of the RACCC was under way, Clay’s buddies honked their truck horn as Roy and Anna drove by in the truck. Silver was chained in the back but managed to jump out of the truck and run off into the woods after the delinquint teen’s vehicle horn went off and scarced Silver on purpose. Roy and Anna searched for Silver but had no luck. Clay came in first for dirt biking and was the first off for skijoring, and Silver arrived back at the track just in time for Jesse to switch to skijoring. #1 Clay was about to win until #13 Silver and Jesse cut in front of him, but then Clay’s dog bit Jesse and he fell. Lucy won and Silver went after Clay because he was protecting Jesse on the ground. Jesse pulled Silver away and John pulled his gun on them. Sheriff Lawrence tried to persuade John to put the gun down, but John demanded to know what happened to a wolf that attacked a human. The sheriff said the wolf had to die, but Roy jumped in and stated that it was his park and he was the one who enforced the law. John gave Roy the gun, but Roy said that Silver would be leaving for the Toronto Zoo the following day so John was okay with that. Roy later explained to Jesse that Frank (his dad) had lied about little brother Roy being mean to his dad by staying in the woods for 12 days on purpose. Frank even came back and brought Roy a map to get help his little brother get home but Frank took off again and left the teen alone. Roy told Jesse that he was brave and he saw Frank in Jesse. Jesse then told Lucy his plan to travel fifty miles to the area of Marco’s ranch because John announced to the crowd at the competition that a group of wolves attacked cattle at that ranch and Jesse suspected it was Silver’s pack. Lucy drove Jesse and Silver part of the way in Roy’s truck, and Jesse and Lucy said goodbye by kissing. Jesse and Silver went up to the top of the mountain and snowboarded down the side, and then Roy and Anna discovered that Jesse and Silver were missing. John arrived and Roy told him where John probably went, and John said he was holding Roy responsible if anything happened to Lucy. Anna told John that she would have him shot, stuffed and mounted if anything happened to Jesse. Lucy arrived and refused to get in the truck like John told her to, and she told him he was wrong so he sped off in his truck to get Clay and the helicopter while Lucy, Roy and Anna took their helicopter. Jesse and Silver found Silver’s three pack members, and the Rockwells flew overhead and Clay shot at the wolves but they escaped. Silver didn’t want to leave Jesse, but he told Silver to go home and he did. John landed the helicopter and Jesse tried to make a deal with him that he wouldn’t rat John out for violating the endangered species act by trying to shoot Silver, and in return John would leave the wolves alone. John replied that he had been shooting wolves for years and nothing would change that even after Jesse said he was able to change Lucy’s mind and her head was harder than her dad’s. Jesse asked Lucy after Roy’s helicopter landed if she had ever been in Seattle and she replied no but she was about to get her driver’s license. Roy, Anna and Jesse went back to the cabin and watched Silver and his pack disappearing into the woods.

REASON: This movie began with a speaker named Pierce Clovins with the Cross Country church saying thousands upon thousands of people were subject to contaminated drinking water and were diseased and dying, and with the support of the audience they could fix that. Pierce then introduced Sam Atwell, the person responsible for starting the Project Get Wells Soon movement mission and he came onstage. Four months earlier at the Fraternity Pledge Semester in Austin, Texas, the fraternity guys treated Phil like a slave as part of Phil’s initiation. Pierce talked about the others going to a local church and partying as though it were a nightclub. Phil drove them to church, he said he hadn’t slept in three weeks and had tests and he had to later that day go before the I.F.C. and deny all the hazing allegations against Pierce and Co. Phil said he wasn’t like them and he couldn’t get up and lie to people’s faces like Pierce and his buddies did in the church environment. Sam told Phil that the story about Einstein failing math as a kid was not true and teachers only said it because they wanted to give students hope when in fact Einstein mastered calculus at age 15. Sam added that sometimes people wanted to be lied to, making it okay to deceive people in church. Sam told Phil that if he wanted to be part of a fraternity, then he needed to lie about the hazing in order for them to have a fraternity so he could be part of theirs. In the next bizarre scene, Sam was in the dean’s office filling out his transcript and application to graduate and the Dean took out his bottle of spirits and poured himself a glass as he told Sam that he went to Cabo San Lucas with his therapist because she told him to take a semester off after graduating before he went to law school, which the dean did but then put a rubber band over his eyes and shouted at himself to shut up and wouldn’t say what the therapist did or what happened to her abroad when the Dean was in college. Sam said that he was a political science major and going to law school in the fall as well, and he decided to put his permanent address on the paperwork so the dean didn’t have to answer his question because the dean was in no state of mind to do so. Sam asked the man in charge to have his records checked because it showed that Sam a little over $9,000 after graduation when his scholarship should have covered the entire amount. The dean acted dumb and offended that the school might have made a mistake with the funding. The dean then informed Sam that the records were correct. Sam took some extra classes over the summer but his scholarship expired the previous semester so the dean got out a glass for Sam to have a drink as well. Sam wasn’t happy that he was in debt and couldn’t pay it off in three weeks, and the dean replied that this was the first day of the rest of Sam’s pathetic life and he wasn’t the only person who would graduate with student debt and take the advice that the dean’s dad gave him which was that life was difficult. Later on in church, Sam ignored the pastor and instead looked on his phone at unavailable scholarships. Macy, a church member, took the mic and announced that their mission almost raised enough funds for everyone to go to Hawaii (Pierce burst out laughing because that wasn’t a third-world country and more of a vacation spot) and she added that making disciples out of the Hawaiians wouldn’t be an easy task. It was then said that the church decided to give the offerings that night to the missionaries in support for their efforts and encouraged everyone to donate as much as they could afford to help with the cause. After the service, Sam approached Macy and she said she raised $16,000 of the $20,000 she needed for the mission and her sister Allison raised a lot of money as well and the church really helped people succeed with their missionary finances. Sam asked if there was any kind of accountability with the money because how would the church know if the person actually helped people versus going to Vegas and spending the money on gambling. Macy replied that she had a camera and could take pictures but it seemed the mega church had no major accountability system for those large sums of money that went to individuals on a mission. Sam later gave a speech to his homies in his crib about how they would pretend they were going on a mission to Africa to put clean water systems in place to help the citizens, when in reality they wouldn’t be doing that but Sam made his point by putting a picture of a black baby sitting in a field with a lion in his visual presentation. Sam said that saving Africa was as popular to Christians as Jesus Christ himself, and they summed it up that they wanted to steal from Christians because they needed the money to pay off their college debts since Christians were the people who would give what they could to sad charities because it made them feel like they were part of something even if they didn’t know if it was legit. Pierce got up and walked away saying he wasn’t interested until Sam called him back by saying there was money in it for him. Sam explained to his buddies that there was no other way because he couldn’t get a tuition loan fast enough, an emergency loan big enough, all the scholarships were way past due and he would be lucky to get $2,000 for his car. Pierce suggested that Sam take a year off to pay for college, and Tyler turned the tables and wanted to know what Pierce knew about paying for anything because Pierce’s parents were crazy rich and Pierce lived off them. Baker jumped up and said he was in because it would be the last time his homeboy family would have the opportunity to steal from people all together before they graduated. Tyler wasn’t in unless they gave 20% of the funds to a real charity and it worked out for Tyler since he didn’t have to speak publicly since it wasn’t his forte. Rich kid Pierce said he didn’t care about charity but he would take a percentage of the profits for himself. They used their fraternity pledgers to help with the dirty work and pull off their heist of stealing from the church with their fake charity. The students put flyers up titled “God Needs Your Help,” for Project Get Wells Soon (water wells). Two weeks later at a charity event, Callie Edwards approached Sam and told him that she was just in Lesotho (South Africa) helping with water wells and wanted to know what district Sam was in with his fundraising but he didn’t answer. The group put the same black baby as their model on the back of a lion and on the pamphlets saying that if people gave money, they would change lives. Sam spoke to the event-goers and used God’s name copying a sermon from a preacher at the church he attended and made himself sound like he was a caring person telling the crowd to give what they could and be careful going home that night. Ken Hopkins, the executive director of the Cross Country Church, then showed up and said he agreed they weren’t getting enough donations and offered to take the fraternity men to dinner to discuss it. Ken said he would put the students on a national stage because he wanted them to make all the money they needed to make their mission succeed. At dinner, Ken explained that the Holy Herald ranked Cross Country the second-most impactful ministry in the country, and the reason that Ken was helping Get Wells Soon was because he loved their mission and thought the fraternity guys were cool Christians, and Ken wanted his church to be ranked number one. Callie, the tour manager, came to the dinner and Ken told the college students that the church could only afford to give them one signing bonus, which was $15,000 to cover their travel expenses for their tour where they would be preaching in different cities and getting donations. Subtly, Sam said that Tyler was their tech guy who was as much part of the team as anybody so he would be on tour with the men, but wouldn’t be giving speeches. Pierce asked Ken how much they could expect to make on the tour, and Ken replied about $250,000 for Africa. When Callie wanted to hear more about their work in Lesotho, Sam evaded the question and said it boiled down to being the Lord’s work, and Ken said amen to that. The students said they switched to a quarterly based accrued system for their accounting, and Ken didn’t want to hear anymore after that and believed that the men he was dealing with were on the up-and-up and never questioned the charity again. The guys went to the bathroom and as Baker used the urinal they all discussed privately how they could pull it off with what Ken was offering. Sam said that 100% of the proceeds had to go to the charity, but most of the money would be cash so it would be easier to steal and skim off the top and nobody would know the difference. Sam said that they would give the rest of the money to a charity called Living Water that would actually help the Africans. Baker was onboard. Pierce explained that his ulterior motive was that he lost all his summer rent money and he couldn’t ask for any more money from his dad otherwise he would have to work for him. Tyler was the most skeptical and didn’t want to steal, but he agreed saying that the guys better write him a good recommendation for his career. Everybody partied on graduation night, and the next day was the first day of the tour was in Atlanta, Georgia. Callie introduced them to Gabriel the worship band leader and singer, who called them the God Squad and wanted them to call him Gabriel like the archangel and not Gabe. Gabriel said that he was an artist and not really a worship leader. Sam bombed onstage trying to preach about God and disconnected with the audience as he questioned Jesus walking on water. Tyler in the control room used lighting to calm Sam’s nerves and change his approach to engage the audience by telling them that God had a plan for everyone’s life and He wanted to change the world starting with them. Sam added that through Project Get Well Soon, together they could make the water crisis history, and asked the crowd if they would give today for a better tomorrow and give in a way that reflected the faith they claimed to have. He sent ushers around to collect their offerings, and everyone applauded. At the church tour afterparty, where non-alcoholic drinks were served, Pierce whispered to Tyler that they had over $1,000 in the bag. Ken took the stage and congratulated everybody on the first show, and he went on to say that if they kept up the success from the first night then they would be the most impactful ministries (ranked #1) in the nation by the end of the tour. Baker was asked to say a prayer, and later on in the room the God Squad discussed how Baker took half of his prayer from Jerry McGuire’s words. They discussed how much cash they wanted to report as they had wads of it all over the hotel bed. Tyler was concerned about carrying all the money around in a bag from tour to tour like drug dealers, and Pierce replied that they had no other option because they couldn’t deposit the money because the cash didn’t exist since they stole it from the offering plate. Sam told everyone that if they were going to play Sunday School for the next two months, then they needed to do a lot of homework because he would have blown it for everyone if it hadn’t been for Tyler helping him through his sermon and speech. Sam said the goal was to learn as much as they could about the Christians, like how they worshipped and prayed, their mannerisms in everyday life, what they ate and drank, their clothing style, sense of humor, if they had any hobbies other than God, how they socialized and interacted. In addition, the group needed to learn some Bible stories and memorize a few verses, and they would help teach other every night and then they would be good to scam away the Christians. Sam used stick figures to demonstrate the four Christian worship positions that were the Gecko, the Casual Five, the Straitjacket and the Shawshank. Sam went on to talk about prayer and how the idea was to say these words as many times as possible: “Dear God, God, Father, Jesus, Creator, Lord, Spirit, My King, Dad, Holy Spirit, Almighty.” Sam suggested they use “just,” as a crutch word everywhere, and then he mentioned using metaphors, self-degradation, dramatic pauses, old English and Amen. In Panama City, Florida, (with 26 shows left) Baker took the stage and showed an edited photo of a cheetah approaching their trademark African baby, and Baker said that was how messed up Africa was. Later on, Tyler told everyone to dip their Bibles in water to make them look distressed, and he added that Christians hated swear words but loved swearing, and if they wanted to swear like a Christian they needed to either spell it out or make it into a letter. In Gulf Shores, Alabama, (23 shows left), Sam talked about Saul and used the term a-hole to describe him. At another afterparty, Callie and Sam talked about how Gabriel and Callie had been dating for a year as Gabriel was with Baker until Gabriel got a call and didn’t want Baker listening in, which perhaps had something to do with Gabriel starting his own non-profit soon as Callie mentioned. Baker then gave a presentation of the brief history of Christian style to the squad about how stained-glass windows, organ players and church hymnals were all dead and Christians traded them for smoke machines, hipster fashions and fair-trade coffee. Baker went on to say that in order to fool the Christians and gain their trust, they were going to start a Christian clothing line and called it Cross Dressing affiliated with Cross Country. Baker said that every T-shirt the Yale kid wore had a Christian brand or positive slogan on it, so the God Squad needed to create their own brand name and their own positive slogan so they could kill it with merchandise, and Baker felt that Cross Dressing was the right way to go for Christians. In Jackson, Mississippi, (with 20 shows left) Pierce got the crowd chanting “Not on my watch,” would the Africans be drinking dirty sewer water the minute they were born into God’s world. Baker modeled his Cross Dressing apparel with a “Tank You Jesus,” T-shirt and sold merchandise to help their cause with T-shirt slogans like “Abstinence is bad-a,” “F Satan.” In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, (with 18 shows left) Tyler played around with the radio and told Gabriel through his earpiece what direction to move so Gabriel would trip over things while he was singing onstage and look like a fool. In Little Rock, Arkansas, (with 15 shows left), Pierce had another moment talking about how the African baby was crawling around in the desert and landed in quicksand. Pierce told the audience that they could rescue the baby from the quicksand with their donations. In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, (with 13 shows left), Sam wore his Cross Dressing attire and told the crowd that God loved them, but did God like them to get them thinking about how they lived their lives on a daily basis. The afterparties got livelier as the tour went on, the dancing got dirtier, and the cash was pouring in with the God Squad celebrating in their rooms throwing the money in the air with champagne and beer bottles (breaking church tour rules by drinking alcohol). Tyler signed a church form where it was written that “Sign here to affirm that the total mentioned above is a lie and you are totally going to hell for it.” In Dallas, TX, (with 9 shows left), everybody joined hands for Ken’s prayer. Gabriel came in late, and Sam and Callie held hands romantically and whispered to each other during the prayer making plans to meet up in Austin where they were headed for barbecue. At the end of the prayer, Ken mentioned the tragic earthquake in Zambia and told everyone to pair up for prayer. Gabriel asked Sam to be his prayer partner to get him away from Callie. Gabriel sat down with Sam and prayed for Sam to not be tempted and for God to let Gabriel to whatever was necessary to hold Sam accountable for his wrongdoings. Gabriel echoed what Ken said about Zimbabwe since Gabriel wasn’t really paying attention to Ken’s prayer since it was about Zambia. Gabriel left without waiting to hear Sam’s prayer, and shortly after Tyler told Sam to stay away from Callie because he didn’t want Gabriel playing detective and becoming suspicious about the bag of cash that they were carting around with them. Tyler added maybe they should drop the cash off at their house in Austin along the way as they did a sound check onstage. One of the church sound people employees on tour approached Sam and Tyler and told Sam he was an inspiration to him and he thought he was going to drop everything and leave from Houston to go to Africa in a few days because that was what he felt God was telling him to do. Sam said if God was calling the guy in his heart, then he should go for it and Sam agreed to pray for him. Sam and Tyler went to meet up with Pierce and Baker in the God Squad room, and Tyler called Sam out on the advice he gave the crewman because Tyler didn’t like Sam preaching when he was a scammer. Sam said the kid was excited, and Tyler said the kid had a name and it was Cameron and Sam couldn’t just go making decisions like that for someone he didn’t even know. Tyler said all Sam was doing was pushing God on people that believed in Sam and not God, and Sam argued that so what if people wanted to give money to a cause they believed in. Tyler responded that Sam just turned a stranger’s life upside down when Sam didn’t even believe in the cause, or Jesus for that matter. Sam twisted the words around and said that Tyler thought Christians should help others go to Africa, which wasn’t what Tyler said at all and he told Sam that the cause was B.S. and they had no right to persuade others to make life-changing decisions in support of it. Tyler said that the only reason why Cameron believed in Jesus was because people like Sam stood onstage and sold it to them and Cameron didn’t know any better than to buy it. Tyler told the trio roomies that he was done and didn’t want to lie to people anymore and they had enough money and could use the recent earthquake in Zambia as an excuse to get out of the tour and that God called them there to help. Pierce stood up and said nobody was going to Zambia and there was plenty of money to be had on the tour, and he told Tyler to leave if he wanted to and they would split their stash of cash three ways instead of four. Sam told everyone to calm down because nobody was leaving and they would finish what they started, and Tyler walked out telling Sam that night was his last show and if the others wanted to keep going then it was on Sam. The phone rang a second time and Sam threw it on the floor smashing it into pieces without answering it. There was a device that looked like a cam or mic recorder on the table next to where the phone was. They arrived in Austin, TX, (with 8 shows left), where Pierce put on another good show. Afterwards, Tyler met with Ken and handed him the envelope that were the total donations from Dallas and informed Ken that Sam would be coordinating the rest of the tour in place of Tyler who was leaving. Ken shook Tyler’s hand and said God bless you and he would miss Tyler. Callie then went to see the God Squad in their room, but met up with Sam near the elevator who told her that the other guys couldn’t make it but Sam would take Callie on a tour around the city alone which she agreed to since Gabriel was meeting with Ken about something. Callie and Sam went out to eat, where Callie said that she spent more time playing soccer with the kids on her Lesotho mission church trip than she did teaching them. Callie said she came back because she wanted people in the USA to know Jesus too so when they attended Cross Country church events they weren’t missing the point of why they were going to church. Sam told Callie that she wasn’t going to be able to reach everybody and turn everyone into believers, but she could give them hope along the way. Callie replied that she felt like if you didn’t believe in Jesus then you were hopeless. The next morning, Sam called Callie and asked her out to breakfast but then Gabriel knocked on her door and interrupted Callie’s phone call. While waiting for Callie to come back on the line, Sam asked Pierce where Baker was because he didn’t come back to the room the previous night, and Pierce replied he was at some university party. Callie came back on the phone and she and Sam agreed to hook up for breakfast. Pierce was quickly packing because Big Russ (dad) got Pierce’s credit card statement showing he blew his money and he was giving the ultimatum of returning home within 48 hours or going to work for his dad to pay it off. Pierce told Sam that he needed his share of the money before he left, and Sam replied that they should give the money back or at least give it all to a real charity. Pierce laughed thinking he was crazy, and Sam went on to say that there was a whole group of people who were dying and depended on that money to survive, and the right thing to do was to give the money back. Pierce said Sam could make decisions on what was right or wrong for himself, but had no authority to make those decisions for anybody else or judge them in that way. Pierce was mad because now he was in a bind for money and Sam had a change of heart because of Callie and wanted to back out of their scam that was wrong four months ago when they started it. Pierce told Sam why stop at giving the money back, why not just go onstage and admit to thousands of people that he lied to them and tell them who he really was. Sam said that wasn’t a bad idea, and Pierce said Sam wouldn’t do that because Sam only told the truth when it was convenient for him and to do whatever he wanted but Pierce was taking his share of the money and leaving. However, Pierce then discovered that the suitcase went missing and told Sam they had a problem. Sam told Pierce to meet him at the house after Pierce found Baker because they suspected Tyler took the money. Meanwhile, Gabriel explained to Callie that the God Squad was a bunch of fake Christian scam artists playing the church and fooling everyone the fast few months. Gabriel added that Sam didn’t believe in God and the Squad was a fraud, and Gabriel admitted that he snooped in the God Squad’s rooms and found a whole bag of donation cash hidden inside. Sam knocked on Callie’s door, and Gabriel quietly told her that she could hide in the bathroom while he got a confession out of Sam. Gabriel opened the door and asked Sam if he lost something, and then Sam went into Callie’s room with Gabriel. Gabriel called Sam out on the advice Sam gave to Cameron as well as Tyler’s responses about not going through with the scam because Gabriel heard it on Sam’s microphone during the stage check. Sam denied it and wanted to know what Gabriel did with his missing (stashed cash) suitcase. Gabriel explained that Ken wouldn’t believe him without proof so Gabriel had Ken count the cash donations the previous night before they handed them off to the God Squad. Lo and behold, there was a discrepancy in the donations that were turned in. Sam admitted guilt by asking Gabriel what he wanted. Gabriel said the money didn’t belong to Sam, and Sam argued that people didn’t come to their events to see Sam or Gabriel, but to worship God. Gabriel told Sam that he and his college friends were going to jail and Sam had no one to blame but himself. Gabriel took Sam to breakfast with Ken. Ken told Sam that he was done talking because what the college students did was fraud and embezzlement, which would put them away for a very long time. Out of the blue, Ken then announced that the church would not be pressing charges against Sam and Company. Ken explained that he was part of a church was a pastor was exposed for having an affair, and it was a good ministry but it slowly fell apart and was destroyed once the news hit. Ken wasn’t going to bring the God Squad’s illegal activities to light because he wanted to have the number-one church in the nation and he would police it from within (with a police officer eating by himself in the background inside the cafe). When Gabriel protested, Ken said his mind was made up because they needed to think about the donor list and the people’s faith in God. Ken silenced Gabriel on the spot from continuing with their conversation or speaking about what the God Squad did again and told Gabriel to be grateful for what God gave him. Ken explained that the stolen money (God Squad’s fraud money) would be used to finance the Cross Country fall campus tour. Ken added that Sam would sign off all ownership and rights for Project Get Wells Soon to the Cross Country church. Ken told Sam that he was going to travel with the crew and keep preaching through the summer because the only thing keeping Mr. Atwell and the others out of jail was doing what the church leader Ken told them to do. Gabriel fumed in his chair. Ken told Sam not to tell another soul about his royal fakeness and to start acting as though he was a believer from that point on to work off his crime with the church. Later on, the God Squad agreed that they wanted to finish the tour and forget about the money, and they were lucky that they weren’t going to prison and would be able to go back to their lives after the tour was over. Meanwhile, Callie went to see a Christian movie (By Saving Grace) with a doctor onscreen telling a man at the hospital that he needed to learn to forgive and not blame God for things such as his daughter being in a coma. The doctor told the man that he was never going to save grace if he didn’t let grace save him. Callie walked out of the theater just as Sam went inside through another door. Sam didn’t stay inside long and ran into Callie outside the building and they argued in the street. She said she forgave him for his deceit and scamming money off of thousands of people, and he replied that he didn’t accept her forgiveness because she was just playing the Christian card and didn’t really mean it. Callie told Sam that was what happened when people tried to please everyone because Sam lied and they all ended up hating him in the end. Sam mentioned that teachers were still telling the story about Einstein’s failed math skills to give hope to students, and Callie said that teachers were stupid because there were plenty of true stories out there they could use to inspire students instead of feeding the children’s head full of lies. Callie told Sam that having people believe in something he was preaching onstage when he didn’t believe it himself was not helping others and that Sam should find out who he really was before he spoke anymore words about Jesus to thousands of people because it was null and void if Sam didn’t believe. Sam apologized to Callie and wasn’t sure if she wanted him to be honest and go to jail after she told him to be honest. Sam then met up with Gabriel and asked him to get the money that he took from Sam’s room, and Gabriel replied that the church put him in a box so all he could do was play music since the people were jealous of him. Sam corrected Gabriel that nobody was jealous of him and they just thought he was a dick. Sam told Gabriel to cut the rock-star crap because Sam thought Gabriel was the perfect guy to run the Get Wells Soon project so he could change his attitude and trust Sam because they could help each other. Sam suggested that Gabriel get a new song other than the one repeating the Jesus sixteen times. Gabriel then went to Ken’s room and told him he had a new song, but Ken was interrupted by a phone call and Gabriel spotted the cash bag in the closet. Ken got off the phone in a rush because someone from the Holy Herald news was downstairs wanting to interview him about church rankings, so he left Gabriel in the room to tune up and Ken would be back later. The second the door closed, Gabriel put the cash in his guitar case. In Houston, TX, (with 7 shows left). As Gabriel took the stage and told the crowd everything needed to be centered on Jesus, Sam in the waiting room asked Baker about the party he went to. Baker said it was a disaster where he drank 19 beers, and four months ago that would have been no big deal but now he felt like an old man with a drinking problem. Sam said it was college with no parents, and Baker said no and he just needed to get a life. As Tyler and Pierce came into the room and Sam was distracted talking about getting Tyler a great recommendation, Baker handed out royalty checks from Cross Dressing merchandise which were $6,500 for each of the four men. Pierce told the others to split his check among them because he didn’t want it since he had to work for his dad after the tour was over. But, then they all fought over the checks because Pierce wanted all of the other God Squad members to pay off his debts so he wouldn’t have to work for his dad. The others weren’t going to do that, so Pierce and Baker took their dispute outside while Tyler went to the booth so Callie could talk to Sam alone. Callie had an empty bag and asked Sam if he would give today for a better tomorrow, so together, they unlocked the guitar case full of cash and put the money in the bag. Callie took the cash and asked Sam what he was going to say onstage, and he replied that he would make it up as he went along. Sam signed his God Squad Cross Dressing check and asked Callie to deliver it to Cameron for him, and Sam wrote on the back of it that the money was for Cameron in case God called. Callie delivered the thousands of dollars in cash moneybag to the Cross Country church people accepting donations at the event. Sam told Callie not to worry anymore about her being on tour and never changing anything because clearly, she changed Sam. Sam went onstage and preached about Matthew and Jesus talking to a rich kid about the commandments and sacrificing everything to follow the ways of Jesus. Sam went on to say that the rich guy bailed on Jesus, which made Sam wonder if the rich guy ever believed in God to begin with. Sam added that the hard decisions showed you in the moment what you really believed in, and then Sam with a sly grin, said “I,uh… ” and said no more because Sam knew he and his buddies got off scot free with their evil crimes against Christians. The movie ended with Sam keeping his scamming sins against God’s People to himself and within the Church tour groupies . There was music and lyrics, “Morning prayer took the girl unawares, she was late for class and she knew it. The broadcaster had a voice that was soothing, she couldn’t tell if it was a man or woman…” The following was listed on the movie cover art: Joseph J. Airdo, Breakthrough Entertainment, “A remarkable rarity, two thumbs up.” Also, Dabuekke Antinozzi AXS Entertainment, “Five stars, wicked and smart.” As well as Phil Boatwright, Baptist Press, “Disturbing, eye-opening, and necessary.”

The place was named because the Higgins family, led by J.L., owned the town through their multiple companies so the citizens believed the Higgins’ were a disease, not a family. J.L., the president of the Higgins bank, gave Dan Brooks a one-year probationary period of working as the general manager of the Higgins Paper Box Company because Dan was engaged to and wanted to marry Margaret, one of J.L.’s four daughters who just divorced a hockey player. Dan refused to enter his three-year-old racehorse. Broadway Bill, in a $25,000 race at the Imperial track because he said he was through with horses and was going to keep making paper boxes. That night, Dan and Margaret went to a business dinner with J.L. and his other three daughters and their husbands (except for Alice who was unmarried). J.L drank some milk and the butler secretly drank from the same glass after J.L. handed his drink to his servant. J.L. then announced that the purpose of the meeting was to make Dan a permanent member of the board since he would soon be a permanent member of the family. The Higgins’ bought the Acme Lumber Company that day, and J.L. declared that Paper Box sales were down because Dan was neglecting the company. J.L. ordered for Dan to get rid of his horse because it was taking up all his time, but Dan replied that he would never and told J.L. off. The paper box job wasn’t the one for him, so he wanted Margaret and him to leave the “prison,” of Higginsville that night and be married in a church instead of having a wedding with 2,000 invitations. Margaret didn’t agree and refused to leave with Dan. Alice tried to convince her sister to go with Dan. Dan and his black stable hand man (named Whitey) drove Broadway Bill to the Imperial Derby, where they entered Bill against the champion, Gallant Lady. They were forced to board at the rundown Pop Jones’ barn because it was the last stall available and they were poor, so Dan and Whitey stayed there living off canned beans. Professor Pettigrew of Yale invited Dan to lunch at the posh Greenview Club, and Oscar (Happy) McGuire, a rival tycoon, joined them. Pettigrew and Dan both learned that they came to the meeting hoping to get money from each other, but they were both broke. There was a strict “be quiet,” rule about the club, so the trio decided to sing loudly and get everyone else singing. They then stormed out of the club complaining and acting outraged that there was no order in that establishment when they started the disruption. They decided that they would convince Edna, the landlady at the boarding house who Pettigrew was going to marry, to buy Dan’s used Ford truck for $50, which was what he needed in order to enter Bill in a maiden race the following day and win $1,000. Edna agreed, but Bill never raced that day because he put up a ruckus and refused to enter the starting gate and even threw his jockey, which got a laugh out of everyone. Bill was depressed and homesick, so Dan sent for Skeeter, Bill’s rooster buddy, to cheer Bill up and it did just that. Alice convinced Dan to let her stay for the big race, and when Pop came along wanting Bill’s feed bill paid, Dan told Pettigrew to vouch for Dan’s financial stability. Pettigrew did knowing the opposite was true, and Happy said that he was through supporting Bill with his investment of $25,000 because Dan just told Pop the details of how good Bill’s training was going. Alice cooked a surprise chicken dinner in the barn, and they sang “Sunshine Cake,” but didn’t get the chance to eat the chicken (which ended up burning to a crisp when Alice put it back in the oven) because it started pouring rain outside. Bill’s stall was located right under many holes in the roof, and the rain leaked through and horse Bill caught a cold despite Dan and the others’ efforts to put up blankets and keep his warm and dry. The next morning, the vet was called and he told Dan and it was a 50-50 chance Bill would be fit to run ta race in a week. It wasn’t long before Bill was up on his feet and eating again.  Dan went to the hospital and tried to donate his blood to raise $500 for the next race. Dan was told that he couldn’t donate because his blood count was low since he hadn’t been eating well, and Alice pawned some things for $120 while Whitey cheated in games using loaded dice. Pettigrew and Happy picked and plucked a better by scamming him at the racetrack who had no winners that day, and they convinced the better to give them $25 in exchange for the name of the horse who was fixed to win the next race. The better told everyone to bet on Doughboy (who had the least chance of winning), and since everybody now knew and there was nobody left to scam, Pettigrew bet his $25 on Doughboy and the horse came in last. However, everyone working together to do different things earned $510, and that night Dan and Alice went to a party. When they returned to the barn Whitey explained that Pop and the sheriff came and took Bill away because Dan still hadn’t paid Bill’s feed bill. Dan went to the police station and attacked a man whipping Bill, and then Dan was arrested because it turned out the man whipping the horse was the sheriff and Dan didn’t know it at the time. J.P. Chase, the richest man in the world who was currently laid up in the hospital with a broken leg, bet $2 on Bill to win with odds 100-to-1, and every time the story was told the amount that Chase bet increased to $250,000. People put $2 bets on Bill, but then Dan’s old buddy Eddie Howard learned that Dan scratched Bill from the race. Eddie gave Dan $200 to get him out of jail, and Eddie agreed to get Ted Williams as the jockey if Dan put Bill back in the big race. On race day, Pettigrew told Dan that Edna made him put it in writing that he would marry Edna if Bill lost the race, so Bill needed to win for both Pettigrew and Dan whose future in breeding horses depended on the big win. Happy even bet $2 on Bill but didn’t want anybody to know about it, and now Bill’s odds were 6-to-1. Bill was in the lead right out of the starting gate, and when Ted tried to keep a tight rein on Bill, he fell way behind the other horses but quickly returned to the lead because he fought back against Ted and was able to get control. Bill crossed the finish line just ahead of Gallant Lady and won $25,000 in his first race, but then his heart burst and he dropped dead on the track. He did a somersault over his head and Ted was injured but survived, and Bill was later buried at the racetrack. Even J.L. showed up, and back in Higginsville he announced to his family that he sold off all of his companies starting with the paper boxes, the iron works, the lampshade company and ending with the bank. He told his daughter’s husbands that now they would have to go out and work, and Margaret was upset because her new husband Bertie had only just started working for J.L. two months ago. The meeting was interrupted because Dan arrived, and Dan and Alice kissed and then left with Whitey to go to Santa Anita, where they would race their two new horses, Broadway Bill II and the Princess. Father J.L. decided to go along with them.

TITLE: Cats and Peachtopia

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2018  Viva Kids / Light Chaser Animation (China) / ALJ Rights Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie is about a young kitten named Cape and his dad, Blanket, living in a Chinese apartment. Cape had never been outside before and wanted to go out and explore, but Blanket told him to be content at home (like Blanket was) because out in the city was dangerous and full of crooks. Blanket had learned a hard lesson to never leave home when he was a kitten and almost died because his owner got angry that a bunch of cats wrecked her apartment and Blanket ran away. Now Blanket was an overweight and lazy cat and lounged around all day. The cats’ owner brought home a female macaw named Mack, who had already been in five other homes because she was destructive and chewed on things. Mack called Blanket a fatty and said he was an idiot for thinking that the glass bead necklace that he gave Cape would lead him to Peachtopia, the Valley of the Cats, located on a mountain in the far distance. Blanket told Cape that his mom was in Peachtopia, so Cape immediately wanted to go and he built a rocket to fly through the city. The rocket had a paraglider attached that Cape used when the rocket failed. Blanket and Mack went after young Cape. Blanket and Mack stole a tablet from a human girl because the girl used it to take a picture of Cape and the duo didn’t want anyone to see the flying cat. The tablet was broke and it sunk in the river after an encounter with a group of cormorants trying to take it. Mack claimed that she saw the picture before the tablet broke and knew where to find Cape, and then a family of geese rescued them out of the water and dropped them off at the mountain dock. Blanket lied that Cape’s mom was in Peachtopia when mom actually died by falling out of the window when she sat on the windowsill, the reason Blanket was scared when Cape almost died trying to climb out the window to get to Peachtopia. Cape made it to the forest, where a gibbon helped him escape a group of raccoons led by Biggie trying to capture him. The raccoons chased Cape to the glass factory where strange statues of animals were made, and the gibbon was captured but then a stray cat named Wanderer helped Cape escape. A manager in the glass factory told his boss that sales were down. Wanderer brought Cape to the place near the factory where he and the other cats lived, and Wanderer hid the kitten from Biggie’s gang. Wanderer explained that Peachtopia was real and he was from there, and he was the stray cat that Blanket mentioned living with when he was a kitten. Wanderer gave Blanket a bead necklace so Blanket gave it to Cape. Peachtopia was named after a river lined with peach trees, and the entrance to it required going underwater. Wanderer said that he couldn’t go back to Peachtopia but he wouldn’t want to anyway because it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, and he advised Cape to throw away the necklace because it would bring him bad luck. Blanket and Mack boarded an ice truck to get into the mountains and were freezing their tails off until it suddenly got warm because Blanket peed all over Mack. They met Brother Deer, Brother Antelope and Sister Goat. Brother Antelope mentioned taking some magic pills which had ups and downs, and Brother Deer explained that they lived in the cloth dying plant surrounded by colorful cloths to meditate and be in the nirvana of animal soul because humans were everywhere and that was the only place the animals were safe. They offered for Blanket and Mack to stay and be their disciples, but then they chased the intruders away because they distracted Brother Deer from his levitating act and upset him. Cape swam underwater to find the entrance to Peachtopia, but two glass factory employees noticed that there was a hose plugged in (giving Cape air) and it was wasting electricity so they shut it off. Cape almost ran out of air and drowned, but the raccoons shattered the helmet around his head and fished him out of the water. The raccoons captured the Brothers and Sister where they would be imprisioned inside the glass factory until their deaths. Wanderer rescued Blanket and Mack from the raccoons. Cape was brought to the boss, but he wasn’t wearing the necklace with the bead that the boss wanted (inspiration to create the statues) because Wanderer had it, so Cape was locked up with the gibbon and other animals. The gibbon monkey explained to Cape that they needed to escape because on the last day of every month, the boss chose one animal and then crushed them alive to make a mold for his glass sculptures. However, because sales were down and the boss had no inspiration, he told his employees to make molds out of all the animals, starting with Cape, and he wanted them tormented to death by being burnt in the kiln. Wanderer wouldn’t let Blanket go out in the storm to find Cape, so Mack went instead. She found Cape, and when a raccoon chased her away the female bird said she would be back to rescue all of them, which the animals were excited about. Blanket and Mack decided that they would help rescue Cape themselves so they wouldn’t have to involve Wanderer. Cape played dead after being put in the mold, so he was put in a bag and added to the pile of other trash on the conveyor belt headed for the kiln. Blanket and Mack were outside the window and witnessed Cape falling into the kiln, and Blanket was in absolute shock and couldn’t say a word. However, it turned out that Cape hadn’t yet touched the flames because he landed on top of the garbage bags, and he escaped from the factory just as Blanket and Mack were caught by the raccoons and taken away. Cape chased after the van, but Wanderer stopped him and told him it was too dangerous and Wanderer cat had a plan. He told Biggie that he made the choice to hand over Cape and the necklace to Biggie in return for Blanket, Wanderer, and the other cats trapped there being allowed to leave. Biggie agreed, but then Wanderer turned on him and took him hostage with a blowtorch. Biggie watched as all the animals left their cages, and Blanket told Cape that his mom wasn’t in Peachtopia (because he lied to Cape since his mom fell to her death out of the apartment window when she was sitting on the sill and the blind fell on top of her). Cape said he understood that his dad told him that to protect him from the truth, and Blanket had already told Wanderer what really happened and then Wanderer told Cape. Cape led the animals into the factory, where they boarded a large glass boat. Cape flashed a light signal, and the other cats released a train down the mountainside to destroy the factory with molten lava pouring everywhere. When the boss tried to stop the animals from escaping, Blanket and Biggie (who decided that he wanted to be good now and claimed that he wanted to quit working for the evil boss long ago) worked together to get free from the boss. Wanderer explained years ago, he was the boss’s inspiration to start making statues. The boss gave Wanderer the glass bead, but Wanderer left the factory when the boss went to the dark side. The boat sunk to the bottom of the river and they went through the entrance to Peachtopia. They landed in a pool of water behind a waterfall and went to the cat-filled paradise of pink trees and green valleys. Blanket and Mack decided that Peachtopia wasn’t for them and they wanted to go home to their apartment. Since his mom wasn’t in Peachtopia but dead, little Cape kitty went off in his own direction and wanted nothing to do with Blanket. Wander and Biggie agreed that Peachtopia wasn’t home, but they could live there and set up a guard post to keep the humans away. The movie ended with Blanket narrating that he believed Peachtopia was just a place in his heart where he was happy, and for him that was his home whereas little Cape had to go out into the big world to find his “own” Peachtopia.

TITLE: Soccer Mom

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2008  Anchor Bay Entertainment / Ladies’ Home Journal / Bogner Entertainment Inc. / Blueprint Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in California and began with the chaotic Handler household where Wendy dealt with rushing the youngest kids, Sam and Kelci, off to school and getting her eldest, Becca, to soccer practice for her Mar Vista Galaxy Team. Mango the dog drank out of Wendy’s coffee mug, and then she drank out of it too. The Malibu Majestics arrived for the game and Tiffany’s mom told her that even if she didn’t win she was still her daughter, but it would be harder for her to love Tiffany. Coach Kenny suggested that the Galaxies be a winner at losing gracefully since they all knew the Majestics were better players than them. Wendy used to be a dancer until her husband died, and then she worked at the hair salon where she was currently getting her hair done. When she realized that she was late for Becca’s soccer game, she hurried to get there with foil still in her hair. The Galaxies lost the game with a score of 0-6, and because Becca got a red card for pushing Tiffany on the field Wendy told her friend/fellow soccer mom Dee Dee that Becca’s therapist said she was at a crossroads in her life after her dad died. Becca was considering quitting the team until Coach Kenny announced that he was leaving soon to coach a team in Milan. Since the coach was a buddy with Lorenzo Vincenzo, the Italian who used to be Europe’s greatest soccer player and one of the top ten players until he injured his leg, Lorenzo agreed to coach the Galaxies to the regionals. Wendy was assigned to pick Lorenzo up from the hotel, where Wendy told him that there were 13 girls who couldn’t wait to meet him. Lorenzo said God bless America because he thought they were adult women, but then he wanted nothing to do with them when he found out they were 14-year-old girls.Wendy said she would do anything for Lorenzo to stay and coach, so he tried to talk her into a sexual dress-up game but Wendy slapped him across the face and pushed him into a magazine rack. A suitcase then fell on Lorenzo’s knee, and he was livid and called Wendy a crazy American woman. Wendy told Becca on the phone that Lorenzo had a flight delay and would be late, and then Wendy got an idea and headed to the hair salon. Wendy and her coworker Tony met with Harry Davies in his salon office to ask for his help in transforming Wendy into trans Lorenzo since Harry was a Hollywood mask artist. Wendy told Harry that he did a good job of turning Brooke Shields into a zombie for the movie “Help, My Step-Mom’s A Zombie,” so Harry agreed. He addressed Wendy and used the quote that his father told him years ago, which was “I’m gonna turn you into a man if it’s the last thing I do.” The plaster transformation worked, and the teen soccer girls believed that Wendy was Lorenzo since trans-Wendy was able to put on a convincing male Italian accent with Italian words thrown in. Co-worker Tony decided last minute that he wanted to be the new coach’s assistant coach since he used to play soccer and knew the soccer lingo and could make trans-Wendy look like she knew what she was talking about. The next day, Wendy promised Becca that she would be on time for the annual mother-daughter dinner that night. Dee and her husband Wally weren’t divorced yet and had joint custody of their daughter, yet Wally had a new girlfriend already and Dee wasn’t happy about it. Dee flirted with trans-Wendy and kissed her thinking she was the real Lorenzo, and then Dee convinced trans-Wendy to go to man’s night out with Wally and his buddies at the bar. It was there they played a game about what three women they would want to be with on a deserted island, and one said Jessica Alba, Courtney Cox and Rachael Ray. Trans-Wendy picked Tina Turner, Emily Dickinson and Hillary Clinton. Trans-Wendy ordered a water from the waitress, but then the real Lorenzo came into the bar and the waitress gave him the water not knowing the difference between the real him and the trans female. Lorenzo spit the drink in the waitress’s face because it wasn’t vodka like he drank, and the waitress came back and dumped water on Lorenzo’s head. He stormed out while trans-Wendy snuck out of the bar. At the mother/daughter dinner, mean girl Tiffany and her friend set up a mop with a shirt over it and a plate for the face with the words “Becca’s mom,” by the photo booth since Wendy still wasn’t there. In return, Becca talked bad about Tiffany and her mom, and Tiffany tried to go after Becca but then Wendy showed up and Becca told her mom that she sucked for missing the dinner. Wendy started watching game footage of Lorenzo and teaching herself his moves, and trans-Wendy had the girls practice to music like Lorenzo would. They made a comeback that season and won a few games, and Becca gave trans-Wendy a souvenir that was the whistle that belonged to Becca’s dad who used to coach the Galaxies. Becca asked trans-Wendy not to leave after regionals. Then, trans-Wendy almost kissed Tony but remembered that he was gay. Tony argued that he wasn’t gay even though everybody assumed he was because he was a hairdresser, and he admitted that he had always wanted to kiss Wendy. Becca later apologized to her mom for the hurtful things she said to her and they made amends. On the morning of the regional finals, Mango grabbed Wendy’s sports bag and ate her plastic nose so she left Harry a message. Harry came through and gave trans-Wendy a new nose at the game, and then trans-Wendy spotted real Lorenzo. Trans-Wendy called Lorenzo’s number pretending to be a fan named Julia Robertson, and she said she did something very, very bad and rented them a hotel room. Lorenzo told her to bring him a zookeeper’s uniform and a birth device, and he went to the hotel room number trans-Wendy gave him where the woman said that she ordered the meatloaf but Lorenzo would do and pulled him into her room. Trans-Wendy had already been in her car more than once putting on and taking off her costume and mask, and when Lorenzo returned to the game a short while later there was an awkward moment with both Lorenzos confronting each other. Lorenzo pulled trans-Wendy’s fake nose and wig off, and so Wendy’s identity was revealed. The Galaxy girls wanted to quit the game, but Wendy made an announcement and convinced them not to quit by telling them that “superstar,” Lorenzo wasn’t the one who got them to where they were, it was them believing they were champions and could win. Dee and Wally got back together on the spot (Wally ditched his girlfriend and Dee was relieved she didn’t kiss trans-Wendy). Tiffany’s mom told the game officials that the Galaxies should automatically have to forfeit because their coach wasn’t Lorenzo as was listed on the application. The officials decided that she was right, but then Lorenzo from Italy stood up and announced that he would coach the team so the Galaxies could play. Becca made the last goal to defeat the Majestics with a score of 2-1, and the movie ended with Dee taking a group picture of the team with Wendy and Lorenzo.

TITLE: Secrets of the Mountain (as seen on NBC)

BOX OFFICE RATED: NR (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2010 Walmart / Proctor & Gamble / Muse Entertainment Enterprises Inc. / P & G Productions / Canada Production / TeleNext Media

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with Henry Beecham taking his young niece, Dana James, to the mountain in Tesla Falls, New York where he lived. He said that the pirate Captain William Kidd was said to have visited the mountain, and Henry instructed Dana to use her imagination to see Captain Kidd and his henchman. She was eventually able to do so and saw them digging, and Henry said they were burying their treasure on the mountain. Twenty-eight years later in the city, Dana was an attorney handling the case of 18-year-old Antonio Huertas who was suspected of armed robbery with up to 20 years in state prison. Dana used her uncle’s advice to tell the jury to find the truth by looking beyond the obvious. She then rushed out of the courtroom because her ex-husband, Colin, was getting married to Brandy that day and Dana had to pick up her three kids (the eldest twins, Jake and Jade Ann, and the youngest Maddie) from the wedding so Colin could go on his honeymoon. Dana was very late, and Brandy was upset that Dana ruined the big day and made Brandy and Colin miss their flight. Colin told Dana that she had a choice to either come to the wedding like she promised to pick up the kids, but she chose her work. Jake and Jade were mad too and argued with each other at home where they had Walmart pizza for dinner. Dana wanted to know why the twins had been at odds the last few months, but the disrespectful teens said it was okay for the kids to fight since their parents fought and Dana didn’t need to know the reason. The jury’s verdict came back, and Dana left to hear it and told the siblings not to kill each other while she was gone. The next morning, the WIXA news congratulated Dana on getting Huertas set free, and Jade said here was to mom…always there for the poor and downtrodden but not her family. Jake planned to go to Caroline’s house after school for a party, but he felt that his mom didn’t need to know the details and he wasn’t sure if Caroline’s parents were going to be there. Dana said to have them call her and he could go if they did, but he needed to come from school before going. Jake disrespectfully rolled his eyes, and Dana addressed purple-streaked-hair Jade and said her black mood was scaring Dana and she wasn’t sure if one day she was going to come home with Love-Hate tattooed on her knuckles and a fohawk. Jade still refused to tell her mom what was wrong between her and her brother. Dana then opened a letter from Thomas H. Kent, a Tesla Falls lawyer, telling her that somebody wanted to buy the Tesla Falls property that she inherited from Uncle Henry. Dana explained to Maddie that Henry died eighteen years before when she was in college when she and Henry were driving on a country road on his property. Nigel Fowler came up behind them and started rear-ending Henry’s jeep, and Henry went off the road and into a field. He ordered Dana to get out of the car and hide to save her life, and when Nigel caught up to Henry he shoved him off the side of a cliff. The jeep exploded with Henry in it. Dana said that she called the police and reported Nigel, but there were no witnesses so no charges were filed even though she was saw everything that happened but it seemed they wouldn’t take the word of an adult college age female. When all the kids got home, Dana explained that they were going to Tesla Falls in the country for the weekend to sign some papers so the mountain property could sold and the money would help pay for the kids’ college. Dana went to meet with attorney Tom Kent, who told her that his bulldog was named after Oliver Wendell Holmes. Tom explained that an offshore company called Oxford Worldwide Financing was buying the property and was willing to pay twice what it was worth as along as Dana saved a sellers’-remorse waiver so there would be no backing out. Tom admitted that he had never met his client and they found him to find Dana, and Dana thought that was a bit odd since they only wanted to buy the mountain and not the lodge. After Tom found out that Dana was single, he tried to convince her to keep the lodge because there was a lot to offer in Tesla Falls (single Tom). Dana signed the paperwork and the family headed to the lodge, where an old man pulled a gun on Dana inside the house. They then recognized each other and Dana couldn’t believe that he was Uncle Henry alive and well. Henry met all the kids and told them that he was thrown from the jeep and broke a couple of ribs, but he was able to walk away from the accident. He went to Europe, Asia and South America for many years and started consulting under an assumed name, and he convinced Dana and the kids to stay overnight because it was a long story. Jake was messing around with a tribal weapon and almost shot Jade in the head with a dart because he didn’t know it was loaded. Henry explained to Dana that he possessed a journal written in code and that and he tried to mentor Nigel until he found out he had ulterior motives and would blow up the Sphinx if it meant he could make money. Henry went on to say that he found out more about Nigel when he was studying under Henry, such as Nigel working for some dangerous men with wealthy clients willing to pay small fortunes for rare antiquities. Henry had a theory about what was inside the mountain and shared it with Nigel, and then Nigel overheard a conversation Henry had with a rare bookseller in London who found a journal in a library in a Scottish castle. Henry and Dana pieced it together that Nigel tried to eliminate the both of them so he could get to whatever treasure was in the mountain. Dana told Henry that she had been holding onto the property for eighteen years, and just that morning she sold the mountain and it was definitely gone because it was an iron-clad contract (even though Henry was in fact alive and it wasn’t Dana’s to sell). Henry demanded to know who bought the mountain and revealed that he met Nigel in Oxford. Henry reminded Dana that they still had five days before the checked cleared the bank so maybe it wasn’t too late to get the property back. Jake used the old basketball hoop on the side of the house to practice, and Henry cooked dinner using a recipe that he found in Egypt when he was studying the Temple of Karnak. He explained further that he came across a shipping manifest that told of two vessels that were bought by the Earl of Lansdowne, a Scottish archaeologist. He needed the boats for an expedition to the Tesla Falls mountain in 1689 to see if he was right about what he thought was in the mountain. He was right and did find what he was looking for, but he was captured and tortured by Captain Kidd on his way back to Scotland to organize an excavation. He told the pirates about the mountain and then escaped on his second ship. He returned to Scotland with the journal that Henry now had, and Henry had been contemplating it for eighteen years but it took a supercomputer in Zurich to crack the code. Henry said the journal described what the Earl saw in the mountain, but he wouldn’t tell them what it was until the following morning. Dana told Henry that she had to drag the kids to the mountain hoping for some quality time to help them heal because her divorce took its toll on them. They only responded positively when Uncle Henry appeared, and he said it wasn’t him and the mountain was what brought out the best and worst in people. Dana and Henry both said they missed each other and were happy to be reunited after 18 years. The next morning, Dana slept in while Henry took the kids on a hike up the mountain. Dana caught up with them while Henry told the kids an entertaining story about how the mountains had tunnels and chambers many feet below, and he believed that the Aztecs were born there and housed a gold mask in the temple they built for their Sun God. Nigel spied on them evilly from a distance. Tom later came by the lodge with some copies of the signed agreement, and Maddie blurted out that they were going treasure hunting and invited Tom to come with them. Matchmaking Henry suggested that they split up into three groups with Tom and Dana, Jake and Jade, and Henry and Maddie. Henry explained that they needed to look for a carving of a hummingbird because the Aztecs believed that dead warriors came back as blue hummingbirds. Where they found one carving they would find two more and it would lead them to the Sun God’s temple. Dana told Tom that it was lousy pay being a public defender, and he said he was a corporate attorney before moving to Tesla Falls. Henry brought Maddie to the same spot he brought Dana at her age, and this time he showed her the Aztecs instead of the pirates. Maddie saw the Aztecs and then said that she thought she saw a flashing light in the distance. Jake and Jade argued with him telling her that she couldn’t get a boyfriend because she was trying so hard to be a freak, and she said she could find a date if she wanted to. It was when she threw her water bottle at Jake that she noticed there was a hummingbird carving on the rock behind him. They ran to tell the others, and Dana and Henry agreed that it was getting dark and they would go back out in the morning. That night after Tom left, Dana heard noises in the shed and went to investigate. British Nigel grabbed her and threatened her that if she cared for her children then she would leave, and then he let go of Dana because Henry appeared and pulled his gun on Nigel. He asked Nigel why he bought the mountain, and he replied that he got a phone call from a colleague in Zurich who told him it would be a wise investment. Dana told Henry that they were leaving in the morning because she dealt with lowlife criminals all the time at work and wasn’t afraid of them, but she wasn’t going to put her kids in danger. That night, Jake caught Jade snooping through Henry’s things trying to solve the mystery. They fought over the journal and the binding ripped, and they found a map hidden there that depicted the inside of the mountain. The twins decided to sneak out of the house and go find the entrance to the mountain, and they would tell the others in the morning. Maddie got Dana up out of bed to tell her that Jake and Jade and went to the mountain, and Maddie insisted on going with Dana and she reluctantly agreed since Maddie had an idea where her siblings went. Jake and Jade found the three hummingbird carvings (with the third hidden on the ground) and used string to mark a triangle. Jade used the geometry knowledge that her smart little sister taught her to find the incenter of the triangle, and they stood in the center as the sun rose over the ridge and a beam of light marked the mountain entrance. Jade made an “X,” symbol on a rock as a marker, and Dana and Maddie found the X on the Tesla Falls mountainside and went into the cave right behind the twins. Jade and Jake thought it was a waste of time and there was nothing to see inside the tunnel other than another hummingbird carving, but then Jake pressed the carving and the floor opened beneath them. They went down a slide and landed in a pool of water, and then they consulted the map and started walking. They could smell sulfuric acid, and when Jake broke through some cobwebs on the wall he saw a skull behind them. He was alarmed and threw himself backwards, and that led to him busting through a door down some stairs. He landed in a bunch of rotting skeletons and then he and Jade lit torches on fire for light. Maddie told Dana that she thought the bodies of the warriors were there because they stayed on purpose to protect the Sun God through all eternity. Henry then discovered that everyone was gone when he woke up the next morning and his journal was torn, and he suspected that Nigel did it but then found a note from J & J saying they found a map inside the book. When someone came to the door Henry thought it was Nigel and was going to knock him out with a stick, but it turned out to be Tom and the two of them headed to the clearing where the hummingbirds were found. Nigel washed away the X on the rock that J & J left just as Henry and Tom appeared below and realized they needed to wait until dawn to find the entrance. Nigel went into the tunnel to trace the others’ steps and stepped on and crushed a skull in the process. As they walked along a high dangerous cliff path, Dana sent Jake and little Maddie ahead while Dana took Jade aside and demanded to know the problem between her and Jake. Jade explained to her mom then that a couple months ago the cheerleaders played a prank on her at school and text her phone saying that is was Mark (Jake’s friend) and he wanted to take her to junior prom and to meet her in the gym at basketball practice. A flashback occurred of Jade as she walked through the gym past the cheerleaders as they snickered as Taylor’s White Horse song played in the background, until Jade stopped in front of #23 Mark standing beside brother Jake #7. Jade asked Mark what time he was going to pick her up for junior prom. Mark replied that no offense to his teammate Jake, but even if he wanted to take a freak like Jade to the dance (which he didn’t), she would be the last act in the carnival he would ask. Jade left in tears and said that since her mom split with her dad, Dana seemed to have her plate full so Jade didn’t feel comfortable telling Dana what happened with her school drama and adding more to her plate. Dana replied that she kept her plate full to help her through her divorce, and she apologized to her daughter for ignoring her and not helping her when the teen still needed her parent. Dana and Jade then caught up with Jade and Maddie. Henry and Tom found a corn snake and noticed that it came out of an airshaft, so they moved the rocks to make an entrance. Henry wanted to go inside, but Tom insisted that he would go to save Henry’s family. As Dana and the kids contemplated whether or not to go across an old and rickety bridge and risk their lives, Nigel grabbed the map and tried to make a run for it but Jake went after him. They fought on the bridge with Nigel swinging a fiery torch at Jake’s head, and Nigel got away. As Jake and Jade tried to walk across the bridge, it broke and they were left hanging onto one end of it on the cliffside They climbed back up, and Jake and Jade made amends when he apologized for not standing up for her in front of Mark. The family found a way to go around the bridge and spotted the temple below, and they didn’t see Nigel go into the temple so they went inside. Nigel grabbed the mask and then the temple door started coming down. Dana sent the kids out, and then Nigel dropped the mask and made a run for it after slamming Dana against the wall. She hit her head and was knocked unconscious, and Maddie ran back for her mom and used her hard hat to stop the wall from coming down, otherwise her mom was trapped inside the airtight room. Tom appeared and slid under the door to rescue Dana and had the kids go alone out the way he came. Nigel beat on the walls with a stick to cause a cave-in to prevent the others from exiting the tunnel. Nigel emerged from the airshaft where Henry waited for his family’s safe return. Henry punched Nigel out cold and then went into the tunnel, and everyone worked together to remove the barrier of heavy rocks. Henry pushed some of the rocks towards them to make a hole big enough for everyone to climb out just as the ceiling started crumbling. Henry said that Nigel had an unfortunate accident involving his chin and Henry’s fist, and then Henry noticed that Nigel was gone. Back at the lodge, Henry had a happy dance moment because Dana and her family all voted yes to move to the country lodge and make a fresh start. Tom came by and told them that Oxford Worldwide Financing stopped payment on the check before it cleared and Dana still owned the mountain. The movie ended with Henry giving Maddie a new hat as a gift and everyone taking a hike.

TITLE: Trolls World Tour

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2020 (April) Universal Pictures / Dreamworks Animation

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: The cartoon movie began with Cloud Guy narrating that female Queen Poppy of the Pop Trolls and her male friend, Branch (who finally found his true colors), had worked together to save the world but discovered that it was a lot bigger than they thought. In another area of the kingdom, the bright-colored Techno Trolls partied together in a huge crowd with King Trollex DJing and keeping the crowd entertained with his “celebration” song about family, love and music. That ended though when punk Queen Barb (supposedly identifying as female) of the Hard Rock Trolls and her heavy metal goons arrived. Queen B called for her rocker gang and together they all blasted the crazy loud music while she sang, “Here I Am,” to destroy the peace within the Techno community and damage their underwater home. Queen Barb went on to stay that after her world tour everyone would be the same and conformed to her lifestyle and they would all be One Nation of Trolls Under Rock (instead of One Nation Under God). In the next scene Queen Poppy (showing her rainbow teeth) of the Pop Trolls sang to the tune of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” changing the lyrics to Trolls instead of girls that turned into Branch and Poppy doing a duet of leave your cares behind and have a good time. Naked glittery Guy Diamond interrupted their singing and dancing and said it was an emergency because he was having a baby. Everybody chimed in with little Smidge who looked like a female but sounded like a male saying she didn’t want to be a big sister. As soon as Tiny Diamond popped out of Guy Diamond’s hair and hatched, he rapped about how he was going to be king someday and follow in Aunt Queen Poppy’s footsteps. He rapped that he got his name from his daddy’s name and his body was made of glitter and he was going to throw it in your face. Afterward, Poppy complimented Cooper, Biggie, his pet worm Mr. Dinkles, Legsly, on their dancing and attire. Poppy then welcomed Tiny Diamond into their Troll family, and Tiny Diamond thanked Poppy and then thanked his daddy for bringing him into the world. Branch tried to ask Poppy out, but after she said they were friends and they didn’t have a good connection, Branch didn’t get the chance since the two were interrupted by Debbie, a “special” bat creature from the Rock gang who delivered an invitation to Poppy but ended up scaring the Pop Trolls in the process with her one of a kind persona. Poppy read the invite aloud and it stated that Barb, the Queen of Rock, announced her One Nation Under Rock World Tour and to bring your string to the biggest party the world had ever seen. Poppy’s father Peppy then grabbed the invitation and tried to eat it because he knew it was more than likely junk mail by junk Trolls and didn’t want anybody to see it. Branch did this weird thing to calm Trolls by flipping their eyeballs and smoothing out their facial hair. Peppy said they weren’t alone in the world and there were other kinds of Trolls, and he explained that Pop Trolls liked to listen to upbeat music with a catchy rhythm that made them want to snap their fingers, tap their toes, and wiggle their butts, which made them Pop Trolls whereas the other Trolls were not like them and sang and danced differently. Peppy said in the beginning, there was silence and it was boring until one day someone made a sound. The ancestors were inspired and took six strings that had the power to control all music and could play anything. The six strings were Techno, Funk, Classical, Country, Hard Rock and Pop and it was one big party with something for everyone but little by little, Trolls couldn’t stand each other’s music and fought over what kind of music the strings would play. The Elders decided that each tribe would take one string and go their separate ways and those six tribes had lived in isolation ever since and that made up the Troll Kingdom. Queen Poppy thought it was a cool idea because she wanted one big party of every kind of Troll in the world together again, but Branch was skeptical because by doing that it would lead to fighting. Peppy then revealed the Pop music string that he had hidden for years then to show all the Trolls present (pink heart). Peppy cautioned that it was powerful and couldn’t be left in the wrong hands, and Branch replied that it wouldn’t be taken away from him on his watch and they needed a plan. Peppy said not to worry because he had been preparing for that day for many years and he advised everyone to run and hide from Barb and all the other different Trolls. King Peppy (father) and Queen Poppy (daughter) got into a heated argument because she wanted to stay and he wanted to run, and he told his daughter that father trumps queen and there was no time to debate the issue and he led everyone away. Queen Poppy got mad and said they were all Trolls and differences didn’t matter, and so Queen P sent little Debbie back to Rock country to accept Queen B’s invitation. Branch caught Poppy and couldn’t believe she was sneaking out to meet Barb the enemy (rocker Debbie). Batty Debbie went on her way to make the delivery to Queen B because Queen P explained to Branch that they were both queens and were both Trolls even though her kingly dad told everyone that rocker Queen Barb was bad news. Branch decided that he would go with Poppy as Cooper listened in on Queen Poppy telling her subordinate Branch that she wasn’t going to be isolated in Troll Village when there was a great big kingdom out there to party with all the other Trolls. That led to Cooper going out on his own to find the different trolls that he assumed were like him. Meanwhile, Queen Barb washed up onshore with her scary Hard Rockers singing a crazy song about a hard rock revolution. Queen B then bragged that she got the Techno string and asked her rockers who knew world domination would be that much fun. Queen Barb then explained her plan to her own dad, Thrash, that once she got all six strings, with just four more to go, she would unite all the Trolls under one music style, which was their rock world. Biggie and Mr. Dinkles were found onboard the balloon as stowaways, and then Queen Poppy found the weapons (sharp sticks, rocks and brass knuckles) that Branch brought with him so she kicked them overboard. Queen Poppy said that the only weapons they needed were their arms for hugs. They landed the balloon in the remains of Symphonyville because the Rock Troll Gang had already made their appearance and completely destroyed it. The little flute named Pennywhistle coughed up fumes from the burned down village where the Classical Trolls lived. Pennywhistle explained that they used to live in beautiful classical harmony conducted by Trollzart who wouldn’t go down without a Beethoven Symphony No.5 in C Minor fight when Barb arrived. However, Queen Barb played some disgustingly blasting peace-stealing rock chords and broke apart Trollzart’s wand and the string was inside. Bully Queen B took the string, captured everyone and took them away on her flying witch airmobiles. That was when Poppy realized that Barb didn’t want to unite the Trolls but wanted to destroy them instead and convert everyone to their unhealthy rockism. Queen Poppy revealed that she had the Pop string with her, so Branch freaked out and wanted to get everybody back to the bunker in Troll Village. Queen Poppy replied that they had to save the world and not let Queen Barb take over. Poppy and Biggie did an electrifying pinky promise, and the message got around to Cooper miles away. Pennywhistle stayed behind to rebuild, and Poppy and the others moved on to the Country Trolls territory in Lonesome Flats to warn them before Queen Barb crashed their land. Batty Debbie delivered the message to Queen Barb from Queen Poppy, and after getting glitter in the face from Queen P’s message, Queen B threw a royal rock hissy fit and said she had enough friends and didn’t want to listen to Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun because she wasn’t onboard with the girlie girl thing. Queen Barb instead ransacked the room and said pop music wasn’t real music and the lyrics were empty and the music repetitive and the questionable female then used a chainsaw to cut the couch in half. Queen B wore herself out and needed to rest because hating took a lot of energy, and then she heard her dad start singing “Girls just wanna have fun” song so she shoved a juice box into his mouth and spewed that nobody did that to her dad or made fun of Queen Barb. Evil-hearted Queen B then recruited her bounty hunters on speed dial to do her dirty work:Chaz the smooth jazz Troll, the Reggaetón Trolls (Tresillo leader, Marimba and Tombora), the K-Pop Gang (led by Red Velvet with blue Wani, pink Baby Bun, yellow Gomdori, green Ari, and purple Kim-Petit), and the Yodelers (brothers Hickory and Dickory). Queen Barb announced that whoever brought her Queen Poppy would get to keep their own music in their own tiny territory of land. The Yodelers were no-shows, but Queen B said they were the only ones who would probably succeed in bringing her Queen Poppy. Queen Poppy and her group arrived where the Country Trolls lived, and they were half-horse, half Trolls. The mayor of the Country Trolls, Delta Dawn, sang a sad song about, “Born To Die.” Delta thought the newcomers looked like they just got beat up by a rainbow, and Poppy huddled and announced that they needed to go top-shelf and sing the Country Trolls all of the most important songs in the history of music. They sang “Wannabe” and Branch wore purple and yellow glitter glasses with rainbow earrings and purple dyed hair. Then it was “Who-who-who let the dogs out?” “Good Vibrations,” “Oppa Gangnam Style,” and “Party rock is in the house tonight.” Mayor Delta then locked up in jail Queen Poppy, Branch and Biggie (with the back of his pants ripped showing his butt crack from doing the splits while performing) for their crime against music and said she knew that Queen Barb was coming. Queen Poppy realized that some Trolls just didn’t wanna have fun, and Branch and Biggie tried to dig a tunnel to escape their cell and return home. However, Hickory and Dickory disguised as a Country Troll (half horse half troll) then busted them out and Queen Poppy went for a ride on what appeared to be Hickory the Country Troll with him pulling Branch and Biggie behind him on the jail door. Delta and the Country Trolls galloped after them, but they escaped by trying to jump a ravine but fell far down into the water below. Under the surface of the water, Mr. Dinkles had a vision filled with candy and a king that looked like him welcoming him home but was interrupted by waking up on the shore with the others. Queen Poppy got Hickory some gumdrops to pay him back, and then they had hug time. Branch demanded to know why Country Hickory was helping him and what was in it for him. Queen Poppy thought Branch was being rude and listened to Hickory’s explanation of how he loved the message about music bringing Trolls together and he agreed that, “Trolls is Trolls.” Hickory then built a raft so they could travel down the river and get to where the Funk Trolls lived. Hickory offered them a cappuccino, cortado, macchiato, or latte, and as Queen Poppy and Branch argued about not trusting Hickory, Queen P got mad at Branch for not trusting her decisions and calling her out when he thought she was making a mistake which she believed didn’t make them friends otherwise he would be silent. Bounty Hunter Chaz appeared playing his smooth jazz love music that made Branch’s face numb and Poppy said it was as though she was being paralyzed by the smoothness. Under the influence they imagined there was a white tiger and they sat in the sand drinking Blues Juice, staring at narwhals and eating sushi. Chaz knew they were now drugged with his music, so he told them that soon Queen Barb would be taking their string and pop music would be history. Hickory interrupted Chaz because he had put gumdrops in his ear so he wasn’t affected by the music and instead kicked Chaz into the water. Hickory then took the gumdrops out of his ears and ate them and Chaz disappeared, and after the Pop Trolls snapped out of their jazz trances. Hickory told them that Chaz was a bounty hunter after them (but he didn’t say he was one too). Biggie asked Poppy how she was supposed to save the world when Queen P couldn’t even keep her group safe. Biggie then used Mr. Dinkles as his float to stand on in the water and left and told Poppy that she broke her pinky promise. Meanwhile, Cooper got lost in the desert and wheezed, and instead of drinking water he got a bunch of sand in his mouth because he saw a mirage. He collapsed under the hot sun, and then a bubble from a UFO snatched Cooper up. On their raft with Hickory telling Branch that he sensed that Branch wanted to further his relationship with Queen Poppy, Hickory stated that Branch was the one who listened and Queen Poppy probably wouldn’t hear anyway because she was centered on herself if Branch told her he had more-than-friendship feelings for her. The UFO then showed up and bubbled them into their Funkmobile and so they were taken inside to Vibe City, and they were guests of Prince Cooper. They thought it was Cooper telling them that, but it was his twin brother Prince D and Cooper cleared up that confusion and explained the story where he was a lost egg and hatched into the Pop Troll family. When he went out to find Trolls like him, his mom and dad, King Quincy and Queen Essence, found him. Poppy pulled out her map and couldn’t find hip-hop that Prince D said was what kind of Troll he was. Branch chimed in that Queen Poppy’s map was obviously outdated because it still had disco. Poppy asked the Majesties for help to save all music from Queen Barb and if they combined all music it would unite all the Trolls because they were all the same and Barb was one of them. Prince D enlightened Queen Poppy that long ago when the world was united, the Pop Trolls tried to steal the Funk Trolls’ string, and Poppy replied that wasn’t what was said in their records. Prince D said the scrapbooks were cut out and glued by the winners and went on to say how it really went down back in the day. He rapped about the Pop Trolls cutting the other Trolls out of the scene and they took all the love and forgot about the Funk Trolls. Prince D explained that the Elders came together and each leader grabbed their string and ran and the Trolls never lived in harmony again. It was said that Pop tried to destroy everyone’s music just the way Queen Barb was trying to do now with Rock. Queen P said history was going to keep repeating itself until everybody realized they were all the same. King Quincy chimed in and replied they weren’t all the same, which was why all their strings were different and reflected their different music. King Quincy added that denying their differences was denying who they were and Queen Poppy said she hadn’t thought about it like that. An alarm then sounded because Rock arrived so everyone prepared for battle with Queen Poppy, Branch and Hickory being held captive in bubbles. Hard Rock cut the power, and the bubbles on the outside were separated with Poppy and Branch going a different way in their bubble than Hickory. Their bubble burst when they landed on the ground, and Queen Poppy and Branch had a serious conversation about her never listening so she was not a good queen and their differences kept them apart more than keeping them together and it had them questioning their friendship. Branch left but before he did he told Queen Poppy that he cared more about her than anybody else in the world. Branch and Poppy then sang a duet about how they hatedthat they were perfect for each other. K-Pop and Reggaeton then had a dance off for Branch after K-Pop captured him. Branch had a pow-wow with the two-gangs using Queen P’s words that all music should be saved. Hickory showed up and Queen Poppy was very happy to see him because she was in a depressed state and told him that she never listened to anybody, which was why Branch walked away and went back to Troll Village. She then pulled out the Pop String from her hair and showed the glittery pink object to Hickory who had a conscience moment whether or not he was going to steal it and run or help Poppy be the queen she wanted to be. Hickory then told Queen P to take her string and run as fast as she could, and when she didn’t Hickory’s butt started moving weirdly and his brother Dickory popped out of it. Dickory took off Hickory’s cowboy disguise and showed his true yodeling self underneath it revealing to Poppy that they were really the Yodelers. Hickory said that he and Dickory became bounty hunters to capture Poppy and her string in order to save their yodeling. Some of Queen Barb’s Trolls then grabbed Poppy and Dickory took the string. Queen B took the string and told Queen P that Pop Village was as feisty as her, hinting that mean Queen Barb destroyed the Pop village. Biggie and Mr. Dinkles arrived back at their village to find it destroyed with graffiti and fire. Some of the trolls were hiding out and explained that terrorist Queen Barb took the rest of the Pop Trolls to Rock City. Since they couldn’t overpower Rock with muscles, the Pop Trolls were going to overpower them with fashion. Pop Trolls Biggie and Company dressed up as Rock Trolls and snuck into the ginormous volcanic stadium and sang to prove they were worthy of being backstage like hard-core maniacs making up senseless lyrics that nobody could understand because the music was so loud to destroy the Rockers from within. Before Queen Barb made her appearance, she locked Queen Poppy in a cage and told her she could relate to her queen situation where there were no real friends to be had but instead people that surrounded them telling them what they wanted to hear, without being genuine. Queen Barb told Queen Poppy that they were one in the same and wanted to unite the world and now that Queen B had the final string she was going to unite everybody One Nation of Trolls Under Rock.Queen Barb plugged the strings into her guitar and said she was going to play the ultimate power chord and then Queen Poppy would see what happened after that. Queen B then took the stage and sang different lyrics to “Barracuda.” Queen Barb then told the attendees to give it up for their former leader and named Funk, Country, Classical, Techno and worst of all…Pop. Branch showed up in his hot air balloon before Barb could play her power chord, and he used his hair to get to Poppy’s cage and blocked the blast that the evil Barb sent his way which turned him into a molten rock. When he broke out of the rock, Branch turned into a hard rocker with red eyes and he asked everybody who was ready to get ripping tattoos everywhere except their faces in the event they needed office jobs in the future. Queen Barb was happy that the chord worked, and Queen Poppy couldn’t believe that Queen B was hellbent on turning everybody into Rock zombies. Branch (now slave of Queen B) fastened a clip to Queen Barb’s outfit for special effect so she could go flying around the stadium zapping all of the leaders into hard rockers. Queen Barb had her boy toy Branch hold Queen Poppy as Queen Barb turned the female leader Pop Troll into a hard rocker. Queen Barb gave Queen Poppy her guitar because she assumed that Queen P was hard core now like herself based upon Queen Poppy’s new wild child biker chic attire and outrageously gothic hairstyleand instructed Queen P to finish off the other Trolls, but then Queen P took the gumdrops out of her ears and ate them like Hickory did. Queen Poppy told Queen Barb that she wasn’t going to let her turn anyone else into rockers because they weren’t like that and were different from that lifestyle so Queen P was saving the world and all music. Queen Poppy said real harmony took lots of different voices and a good queen listened and she smashed the guitar with all six strings of music into the ground. That caused a rainbow of colors to go into the guitar and leave everybody in black and white and transformed back into his or her troll selves. The strings disintegrated and Queen Barb told everyone that thanks to Queen Poppy they all lost their music and history repeated itself since Pop ruined everything. Prince Cooper’s heart started beating with pink love so he picked up a pink microphone to his heart and Prince D beatboxed. King Quincy and Queen Essence bragged about their prince sons saving the day and making music. That was contagious because then everybody else joined in, and it was said that the music started from the strings but now it came from them and they started vocalizing because Queen Barb couldn’t take music away from them. They said it came from their experiences, their lives and their culture, and then the stadium filled with many different colors that was inside each Troll. Poppy and Branch guided everybody in song, and when they joined in they turned back to their original colors (pink and blue) and were no longer black and white. They sang in English, Korean and Spanish, and Tiny Diamond rode on Debbie as he rapped with the many colorful creatures below. Even Queen Barb joined in which turned her character into a less scary one with rainbow hair and Poppy Queen decked out in rainbow attire with everybody of all nations in their kingdom singing it together. Their rock pit volcano home erupted into a rainbow of beautiful colors. Peppy told his daughter that he was happy that she didn’t listen to him and changed the world, and then he gave a speech to everybody that he raised Poppy to be strong and self-confident and he was a genius as she stood beside him in her colorful garb. Queen Poppy and Queen Barb became friends and Carol (obsessed with can spray cheese) was happy that they now had a girl group. Branch finally told Queen Poppy that he loved her and she said it back to Branch and they made a good connection high-five. Queen Poppy then narrated that the ancestors were wrong that they were too different to get along and you have to be able to listen to other voices even when they didn’t agree with you because they make you stronger, more creative and more inspired. So no matter what your song was, the different sound made the world a richer place and you can’t harmonize alone. Queen Poppy told troll Clampers (mayor Delta’s hair) not to eat the history book and destroy as Clampers chewed it up. The movie ended with Tiny Diamond and his bus spreading glitter all over everything, as well with the leaders of the nations joining in a song about picking up your faces and being proud for once. Branch and now rainbow colored Queen Poppy rode off together on a rocker bug with batty Debbie trailing behind in the sky on her small wings. King Gristle and Queen Bridgette of the Bergens with him throwing his crown down because they were late to the party and nobody would eat his cheese balls. This movie had a budget of $90-110 million budget and grossed $48 million at the box office. It came out during the chinavirus pandemic.

TITLE: The Trumpet of the Swan

BOX OFFICE RATED: G (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2001 Tristar Pictures / Rich-Crest Animation Studios / Lin Oliver Production / Sony Pictures Releasing / Nest Family Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began with a male trumpeter swan helping his wife with encouraging words as she had her eggs. She hatched two daughters, Ella and Billie, and one son, Louie. Dad was very disappointed and said it was a tragedy and Louie was defective because he was completely mute with no trumpet call or voice. Other young swans, such as Boyd, were mean spirited and excluded silent Louie from their games, because Louie couldn’t talk. A young human boy named Sam Beaver stayed at summer camp nearby and often watched the swans. He and Louie also spent time together, and Sam saved the lives of the three young ones by chasing away a fox that Louie tried to warn his sisters about but they couldn’t hear him. Dad taught the kids to fly and they all flew south to their winter home on Red Rock Lake, Montana. Serena, a young swan, was among the travelers and she and Louie were instant friends. Mom was convinced that Louie and Serena would soon fall in love, and Dad replied that was terrible news and Louie would end up alone because he wouldn’t be able to serenade Serena with his voice. Dad went to Billings, Montana, in search of a trumpet to give Louie a voice. Dad stole a trumpet from Budd’s music store and wrecked the store in the process, and he didn’t consider himself a lowly thief because he did it for his son. As a park ranger gave a hunter a citation for shooting a gun in the no-hunting bird refuge zone, a squirrel named Sweets told Louie that humans used words to communicate without speaking. Louie was unable to tell his dad that he wanted Sam to teach him to read and write, so Louie flew to Billings and found Sam at his elementary school. Sam took Louie to Mrs. Hammerbotham who taught Sam to read in the first grade, and she was reluctant to teach Louie. Sam reminded Mrs. Hammerbotham that she couldn’t discriminate against Louie just because he was poultry since she taught her students that the world was a rainbow with different colors, races, creeds and species. At the end of first grade, Louie was grown up and could both read and write. He returned home with a chalkboard around his neck to write on, but the swans were confused and some of them, led by Boyd, laughed at Louie. Dad gave Louie the trumpet for his new voice, and he practiced often and was finally able to play and impress Serena. Serena’s dad tried to hook her up with Boyd, and the other female swans convinced Serena that Boyd was the best choice as he wooed her with song. Serena loved Louie, but since he hadn’t returned yet and it was possible he might not, she unhappily accepted Boyd’s marriage proposal. After Dad had a nightmare about being chased and arrested by the police, Mom discovered that he stole the trumpet and reassured him that it was okay because he did it for love. Dad replied that he lost his honor, and Louie overheard and decided that he would find a way to get his dad’s honor back. He went to Sam’s summer camp, where he explained the situation and Sam said that all Louie needed to do was get a job and pay the store for the stolen trumpet. Sam convinced the Chief to let Louie be the camp bugler, and one day, camper A.G. Skinner was mad that he lost a sports game so he jumped in a kayak. The current was strong and the kayak was headed straight for a waterfall, and A.G. was knocked out of it. The other campers heard A.G.’s cries and came to help him, but it was Louie who saved A.G. from drowning so Louie was awarded with a medal. Louie earned enough money to pay for the trumpet, and then Sam told him to go to the big city to earn the money to pay for the store damages. Louie headed to Boston, where Monty, an expert con man posing as an agent/manager, helped Louie get shows playing his trumpet around the city and paid him in cash (Monty using the swan to make boatloads of money and even making him sign a long contract he didn’t read all the way through so Monty owned Louie forever and he couldn’t leave). Monty rented Louie a room at the Ritz-Carlson hotel, and the people loved Louie and he was a celebrity. Sweets found out that Serena was getting married to Boyd the following day and spread the word to his fellow city rodents who informed Louie. When Louie tried to leave and return home, Monty grabbed him and was about to clip his wings with scissors but the rodents helped Louie escape. Louie crashed the wedding that was performed by the Justic of the Geese, so Boyd took Louie’s voice away by throwing his trumpet into the water. Boyd chased Louie around, but Serena retrieved Louie’s trumpet and singing a love song reunited her and Louie. Dad apologized to Louie for thinking his son was defective, and then Louie showed his dad the money and the two of them went to Billings. However, Budd the shopkeeper recognized the swan thief and shot Dad dead out of the air. A policeman read the note that was included with the money stating that it was for Budd and it was more than enough to pay for the trumpet and damage to the store. Sam pointed out that Budd just killed an endangered trumpeter swan, and the police officer added that Budd was in big trouble. The ambulance arrived and announced that Dad was still alive because it was a superficial wound and he only fainted. Budd then changed his tune and said he wanted to use the money to save the trumpeters, and Sam chimed in that was what he wanted to do when he grew up. Back at home, Dad told a dramatic story of his death involving dozens of police and blood gushing in torrents, and he was still telling the story a while later when Louie and Serena were married and had nine swanlings (cygnet). Elayne Blythe from the Film Advisory Board was quoted on the movie cover art as saying, “Truly wonderful family entertainment! A classic!”

TITLE: The Greatest Miracle

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2011  ARC Entertainment / Dos Corazones / Sonic Magic Studio / Imagica Film Mexico

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie is based on the facts of the revelations of some mystics and began with the maid Trinidad and Toño hearing classical music in elderly Doña Cata’s bedroom door. However, the door was locked, and Toño couldn’t see through the bedroom window because the curtains were closed. Widow Monica’s son Diego was upset that his mom couldn’t take him to the sport club that Saturday like she promised because she had to work and now she told Diego they would go another day. Bus driver Don Chema stopped the bus to take a call from his daughter Christina for an update on his adult son Manuel’s cancer. The results upset Chema greatly, and he then told the angry bus riders to get off the bus because it was out of service. Monica cried in her car, and a stranger walked up and offered her advice as he cleaned her windshield for free so she could see things more clearly. Monica gave him some change and then noticed that she was sitting out front of the Catholic cathedral. Meanwhile, someone on the back of the bus didn’t get off and tried to give Chema advice because he noticed he was upset, but Chema told him to leave. Don sat outside the same cathedral as Monica, and he joined Monica and the others who went inside for Mass. The windshield wiper cleaner young man asked Monica if she was ready to receive God and she was so she prayed. The bus rider explained to Don that he and the other people who all looked almost identical to the young bus rider around the cathedral were guardian angels. He pointed out the demons that distracted some of the people in attendence by interrupting them from listening to the clergyman’s words and the men to sin by gazing lustfully at a passing woman who was in fact a demon. One of the angels summoned light that came through the windows and banished the demons. A woman confessed to the Father at the confession booth that she was lying to her husband, Juan, to cover for her son, because she suspected the son was with the wrong crowd and into drugs. She didn’t want her Juan to go after their son and was convinced she lost her faith. Jesus then replaced the Father and appeared to the woman. Jesus told her to leave her son in His hands and that she could reclaim her faith and open her heart to see the light of God. Doña Cata’s daughter explained to Trini that her elderly mom must have turned up in the classical music in her room to make it loud like she was there when she actually sneaked out to attend Mass like she did sometimes. As the priest preached about Mother Mary, Chema’s guardian angel told him to pray to and listen to Mother Mary. He did so and then noticed a colorful orb of light in his hand, and the stranger transformed into an angel. He said it was Don’s petitions and offerings and he would take it to God with the other angels holding orbs (with all angels in the same male form with the same voices). Monica also saw the angels, and her angel explained that some of the churchgoers didn’t have anything to offer God because they either weren’t paying attention to the sermon or were forced to go to Mass. He instructed Monica to ask God silently for all her heart’s desires and to pray for other everybody else and her son and family. She made her offering and her guardian angel carried it to the Lord. Don’s angel told him to listen and pay attention to everything that happened that day and tell others about it. In a moment of silence, the angels returned to the cathedral and Monica noticed a bunch of ghostly figures. Her angel explained that they were her relatives already with God and all the Saints and Blessed Souls in heaven. Monica saw her deceased husband Fernando, but as tried to walk towards them hands reached up out of the ground trying to grab her. The angel pulled her away and said they were souls from Purgatory who were praying for her since they couldn’t pray for themselves, and they needed her prayers so they could be purified and go to heaven. Fernando came to Monica and told her that he was always there for her and so was Jesus, a living God who she needed to surrender herself to and trust in. Chema’s angel told him that Mother Mary heard his petition and was there for Don, especially when Manuel was diagnosed with cancer and his own radiation treatment he helped come up with helped other people but made him sicker. As the priest held communion, Don saw a vision of Jesus on the cross with only his mother Mary and the angels gathered around Jesus at the cross (John and Mary Magdalene and the others were not there). Mother Mary appeared to Don, and then he received a text that there was a miracle and Manuel was awake. Doña Cata prayed for the souls in Purgatory and the angels brought one to heaven, and Monica’s guardian angel told her that Doña Cata was a pure soul. Monica listened to the prayers of others in the church who only asked for things they wanted and gave no thanks to God. The angel went on to say that Monica needed to help Diego understand the sacrifice of Jesus and teach him to come to Mass joyfully, and she needed to share with others what she saw that day. The guardian angels told their people that they were always there for them as Mass ended and they left the cathedral. Monica never even went into work and just returned home, where she found Diego praying to God for his mom to be happy. Monica took Diego to the sports club. Doña Cata’s angel told her to go home because her family was worried about her. Elder Doña Cata replied that she felt like she needed to stay at the church and mentioned the death of her husband Miguel and how the last few years she felt like she was getting in the way of her children’s lives. The elderly woman said had a happy life but was now surviving without knowing where to go because her age took her independence and now she had to sneak out of the house to go places. The angel then took Doña Cata’s life so she could go to heaven with him and not be a burden to her family. Then, Doña Cata’s family noticed that the door to her room was now unlocked, and Trini said she was going to scold Doña Cata so she didn’t give them a scare like that again. When the live in maid Trini turned around, she and Doña Cata’s children found the elderly woman dead body on the sofa holding a photo of herself and her dead husband. Doña Cata floated up to heaven where Mother Mary welcomed her (Jesus was out of the picture). The Most Reverend David L. Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay, Wisconsin was quoted on the movie cover art as saying, “…helps us better grasp the spiritual forces at play in our daily lives.”

TITLE: Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer (based on the book series by Megan McDonald)

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2011  20th Century Fox / Relativity Media / Smokewood Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in Virginia and began with tween Judy Moody asking her Magic 8 ball if she was going to have a non-boring summer because she didn’t want to have another “snoresville” summer visiting Grandma Lou like she always did. The kids terrorized the classroom because it was the last day of school, and Mr. Todd, the teacher, bid them farewell by singing goofy lyrics while he strummed his banjo. The teacher announced that he would give a prize to the student who figured out where he was going to be that summer, and the hint was it was a cold place. Judy and her friends Rockford (Rocky) Zang and Franklin (Frank) Pearl initiated Amy Namey into their TP (Toad Pee) Club by having her hold a toad that peed all over her hand. Judy introduced the Judy Moody Mega-Rare Not Bummer Summer Dare, where the kids would do stunts and gain or lose Thrill Points (TPs) in intervals of ten depending on if they did the dare or chickened out (and bonus points if they did something even more daring). Judy said that they would have the best summer ever if they could get 100 points, but then it turned out Rocky was going away for the summer to circus camp and Amy was going to Borneo with her mom to save a lost tribe. Judy’s six-year-old brother James (Stink), wanted to catch Bigfoot, and Judy begged her mom Kate to send her to circus camp so she could quit school and be loaned out to the circus to make money, but Kate said no. She said no again when Judy asked if she could go to Borneo with Amy. Kate and Richard (dad) then announced to the children that they were going to California to help Kate’s elderly parents who were moving to a retirement community because her dad hurt his back. Judy was excited until Richard clarified that he and Kate were going to California and Judy and Stink would stay home with Richard’s younger sister, Opal. When eccentric young (mid twenties) Aunt Opal arrived, she gave Judy a mood ring and her younger brother James (Stink) a Bigfoot book because he was obsessed with catching the creature. Zeke at the pet store brought Judy and Stink to the Bigfoot Believers Association clubhouse, where Zeke said that he and the Birnbaum couple (Rose and Herb) had been tracking Bigfoot’s every move and he was headed their way. Judy still wasn’t convinced that Bigfoot was real and said the pictures and evidence was phony. Opal had traveled all over the world and told Judy of her adventures, and that gave Judy an idea. Judy emailed her friends and explained that they could still do the dares, but now it was a race and they could find stunts to do wherever they were at. Rocky sent a picture of him earning TPs by walking across a tightrope, and Judy and Frank tried to do that by tying a rope across the river but they both fell in the water. They rode the Scream Monster roller coaster but received no points because Frank threw up the food he just ate all over Judy. Rocky sent a postcard that he had 37 TPs, Judy had zero, and Amy was also getting many TPs in Borneo. Judy and Opal did crafts, and when Judy’s hand got stuck to the table Opal spent more than an hour trying to get her hand free using food, chemicals and utensils. Opal agreed to drive the kids to the cemetery for an event to get TPs, but Opal hadn’t driven a car in ten years and crashed into things. They never made it to the cemetery because they got lost and ran out of gas. They stopped to have a “poop picnic,” where they almost ate sandwiches with smushed poop on the bread because Stink was messing around with what he thought was Bigfoot scat when Opal was making the sandwiches. Judy’s future attempts to get TPs didn’t work out either and neither she nor Frank had any points. For the last dare, Judy and Frank dressed up as Frankenstein and his bride to go to the theater and watch a scary zombie movie. However, Frank freaked out and ran out of the theater calling Judy a fun sponge because all she wanted to do was earn points instead of just do things for fun. Judy threw a moody fit and said she was going to stay in her room for the rest of the summer. Stink and Opal built a Bigfoot statue on the front lawn commemorating the creature that had already been seen by 27 eyewitnesses in the area. Stink was on the news talking about the statue, and then Judy got the idea that she could earn more TPs than anyone else by catching Bigfoot. Judy became a Bigfooter and attended a BBA meeting, and when Judy and Stink learned that Bigfoot was sighted on their street, they set up a tent and trap outside to have a stakeout and catch Bigfoot. They had a false alarm that night with Frank coming into the backyard. Judy and Stink went into the woods behind their house and found Bigfoot’s bed, but they didn’t investigate further because the scary night noises sent them screaming into the house. The next day, they spotted Bigfoot being chased down the street by a pack of dogs, so Opal and the kids borrowed Jessica Finch’s bicycle. When they wrecked that, the Birnbaums drove by in their van and picked them up. They suspected that Bigfoot commandeered the Old King Kold’s ice cream truck with a crown logo, so they went after it and the news van joined the chase. They ended up in the poop picnic park, where it turned out that Mr. Todd was driving the pink truck in his pink outfit as his “cold,” summer job. Zeke was in the Bigfoot costume, and Mr. Todd explained that he hired Zeke to drum up business with Bigfoot sightings. The teacher rewarded the kids with front row tickets to the Zangzini Family Circus, where they spotted Rocky shoveling elephant poop like Judy suspected he would be doing. Judy then volunteered to be the person that Rocky sawed in half, and Rocky performed the same trick three days later when Kate and Richard arrived back home. That night, Opal took Judy on a motorcycle ride to the library, where they put decorated hats (actually garbage can lids) on the two lion statues outside (vandalizing property). Judy ended up liking her summer and decided it wasn’t such a bummer after all, and Opal told her that next summer she wanted to bring Judy with her to Paris to cover the Eiffel Tower with 10,000 scarves. Judy fixed Jessica’s bike for her and Stink set up a stand outside the house charging fifty cents to touch the Bigfoot statue. Everyone in the neighborhood came, and Judy was on board with that to earn money to go to Paris. Kidsday / Newsday was quoted on the movie cover art as saying, “A great movie for everyone…filled with imagination, comedy and thrills!”

TITLE: Bustin’ Bonaparte (based on the best seller “The Story of an African Farm” featured on Oprah.com book club)

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2006 Freestyle Home Entertainment / Turtles Crossing / Industrial Development Corporation Of South Africa Limited / Rodini Films Productions/Vivendi Visual Entertainment

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place on a South African farm farm in the Karoo in the 1870’s, where a tween girl named Lyndall living with her cousin Em, Em’s stepmother Aunt (Tant) Sannie, (called Uncle) Otto, and Otto’s son, Waldo. Lyndall’s parents were dead and Em’s dad died, and the girls said Sannie was wicked and a miserable old woman because she spent the money on herself and was always scolding the children. A scraggly stranger by the name of Bonaparte Blenkins arrived claiming that he was related to Napoleon and Queen Victoria. Sannie said that everybody who walked was a liar and thief and she hated all Englishmen, but Bonaparte declared that he was a full-blooded Irishman, he had a wife and three children, and he lost his horse and money. Otto argued that Bonaparte was a good, respectable man and Sannie reluctantly agreed to let Bonaparte stay on her farm for a short time. Otto believed that Bonaparte’s words were the only proof needed that he was telling the truth about his predicament, and Otto compared it to knowing that God spoke to Moses only because Moses wrote it down. Otto told Bonaparte that he couldn’t leave to look for work on the Sabbath and he needed to stay an extra day, and Otto gave Bonaparte a new hat and clothes to wear while so stranger danger Bonaparte could say a few words at the very small Sunday service and continue his fake act, (Otto foolishly trusted the newcomber because he was a smooth talking play actor of the worst kind). Lyndall was convinced from the beginning that Bonaparte was a liar, but she couldn’t convince Otto of that. Lyndall told Em and Waldo that she hated the farm and couldn’t wait to leave. Sannie then started eyeing Bonaparte and changed her tune about him when he spoke his Sunday piece and told her maid that he was a man of God. Bonaparte flattered Sannie constantly after that and even told her that her feet were beautiful and delicate as the maid washed them. Sannie decided that she wouldn’t send the girls away to school and Bonaparte would be their teacher at home. Otto (white) wanted Waldo to join the girls, but Sannie didn’t approve of Waldo being taught like white men when he was black so he did not attend the class. Lyndall ignored Bonaparte day after day of his teaching, and eventually she walked out of the classroom and said she was never going back to school again, which upset Em because she didn’t want to learn on her own. Waldo shared his secret with Em that he was building and inventing a sheep-shearing machine. One month later, Bonaparte received a letter that his wife died and he put on an unbelievable theatrical show of grief to the point Sannie comforted the drama king, which is what Bonaparte hoped for all along to gain trust and weave his way into his prey’s life. Lyndall narrated that Bonaparte’s wife conveniently died and may never have existed in the first place, and he must have mailed the letter to himself, as Bonaparte refused to show the letter to anyone. Waldo told Otto that God was cruel because He took Bonaparte’s wife and sent Waldo’s mom off the farm, and Otto replied that Waldo’s mom left on her own. Sannie then tried to kick the maid off the farm because her husband stole some sheep, and Otto intervened and said we are all God’s children and he would stake his job that the maid’s husband would return with the sheep because he knew the man would never steal the sheep (but the maid’s husband never returned with the sheep). Bonaparte grinned when he saw Sannie and Otto arguing, and he later called Otto his friend when Bonaparte went to see Otto in his room in order to gain Otto’s trust and get the information about Sannie and Otto’s disagreement and any other information Otto would share that Bonaparte could use against Otto later on. Lyndall was firm in her belief that Bonaparte was a faker, and Otto told Lyndall that she had too much anger inside her for being so young and she liked reading his books but should be reading more of the Bible, so he quoted 1 Corinthians 13:13. Otto later left on his beautiful white horse to go find the sheep, and he discovered that Sannie kicked the maid out with no food and water so Otto helped her get to the next farm and gave her his food and water that he took with him. Upon his return, Sannie screamed hate at Otto blaming her poverty on him because Bonaparte gained Sannie’s confidence and then twisted the facts knowing she would believe whatever falsehoods he told her. When Otto said Bonaparte was a liar and was poisoning Sannie’s mind with lies, Bonaparte silenced him and told Otto not to approach or address him. (Sannie was completely under the spell of the professional con that made a living out of stealing peace and destroying HIS families with devilishly bogus criminal acts and used psycho mind games that caused irreversible damage to the targeted victim). That caused Em to be very upset, and (white) Otto told Sannie that his sin was having a child with Waldo’s (black) mom and Sannie’s sin was pride, anger, greed and lies. Sannie announced that she was taking Otto’s horse and everything he had, and she wanted him off the farm by sunrise. Sannie dragged the girls off to their room and locked them in, and as Otto was packing up to leave, he had a heart attack and died. Bonaparte later complained to Sannie that Waldo was slacking off from work, so Bonaparte went riding on Otto’s white horse to Otto’s gravesite where Waldo had been spending most of his time. Bonaparte demanded to see the shearing device Otto carried and said after that Otto would be rich if he got a patent for the machine because then every farmer in the area would be using one. Bonaparte called Waldo a genius but didn’t want him to be one, so he threw the device on the ground and stomped it into pieces. Bonaparte hinted at marriage to Sannie, and she replied that she couldn’t get married until Lyndall was age 17 otherwise she would lose the farm. Sannie’s niece Trana came for a visit, and well off Trana was supposed to get married in four months but she didn’t yet know who she wanted to be with. Sannie then said that both of the young girls would get married soon, and later on in bed with Trana, Sannie told her that Bonaparte was madly in love with her and he would be very rich once his aunt died. Lyndall and Em went to the loft and looked through a box of old and dusty books that belonged to Em’s father. Lyndall was excited and found a book by Karl Marx called, “Political Economy-Property & Communism.” Em told Waldo he could take whatever he wanted, and he started reading Chemical Engineering. Bonaparte caught Waldo and told him not to go up in the loft again, and later that night he spotted Waldo going up the ladder. The next morning, (white) Bonaparte told Sannie that Waldo must have been up in the attic eating Sannie’s peaches, and she argued that those peaches were old and inedible but Bonaparte insisted that Waldo did a crime and must be punished. He took the black boy into the barn, tied him up and beat his back with a whip. Em was upset and found Lyndall for help. Lyndall grabbed the barn key from Sannie’s hand, as Sannie and Bonaparte argued over who was master on the farm. No adult stopped Lyndall so she unlocked the barn door to let Otto out and help him with his wounds. The girls took Waldo to Otto’s quarters and put warm water on his back. Lyndall noticed a trunk under Otto’s table that was unfamiliar to Waldo. The children opened the box and discovered that it was filled with a large amount of money that Otto had saved up. The young kids realized they could use it to send Lyndall to school and buy whatever they wanted, and the girls convinced Waldo to make another shearing machine. The children then came up with a plan to get rid of Bonaparte, and it involved Lyndall reading a book from the loft in front of Sannie to make her curious. She and the maid went to the loft to see the ungodly books, and then the kids sent Bonaparte into the house where he took the opportunity to flirt with Trana (because Bonaparte knew Trana was richer than Sannie as Otto revealed that information to the money hungry thief Bonaparte before Otto’s death). Trana screamed her disgust, and Sannie overheard because the loft was located right over that room and it had a hatch. Sannie was angry that Bonaparte tried to romance the other woman, so they threw rotten food through the opening on Bonaparte below. Bonaparte ran out of the house trying to stay out of sight of Sannie who went after him with a broom and screamed that he was a bloody Englishman. The kids released one of the ostriches from its pen and it chased Bonaparte away. Sannie eventually let Lyndall go to school, Waldo made a fortune with his ingenious sheep-shearing machine, and Tween Lyndall said that adults would never hurt them ever again. The movie cover art (false advertising) was misleading because it showed eight dogs when only one dog was featured in the movie.

TITLE: Troop Beverly Hills

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 1989 Columbia Pictures / Weintraub Entertainment Group / Fries Entertainment / Avanti Production

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie takes place in California with the Wilderness Girls troop leaders reviewing a new Troop Leader applicant for Troop Beverly Hills. The applicant was Phyllis Nefler, an extremely wealthy Beverly Hills socialite and the wife of entrepreneur Freddy Nefler. They approved Phyllis for troop leader because she wrote on her application that she was honest, thrifty and loved animals, which was the exact opposite of her real personality as at that moment Phyllis had convinced a saleswoman to sell her ONE extravagant dress for $5,000 instead of $5,600 since it was missing a single bead. Phyllis lived in a posh mansion with her tween daughter Hannah, and an English and Spanish speaking housekeeper named Rosa. Phyllis and Freddy were going through a divorce so Freddy currently lived in the guesthouse on the property. Freddy came to clean his things out of the main house, and Hannah told her parents to kiss and make up so she wouldn’t be in therapy twice a week like her friend Tessa DiBlasio. Freddy told Hannah that she would be less neurotic if her parents were happily divorced than unhappily married, and when Phyllis said Freddy sounded like Phil Donahue he argued he saw it on Oprah. Freddy complained that all Phyllis did was spend his money, and he was convinced that she changed and was no longer the creative and energetic woman she was when they met. The troop families came to drop their daughters off to meet their new troop leader, and James Shakar was pulled over by a police officer for speeding. James’s young daughter, Jasmine, mouthed off to the officer and told him to leave them alone because her dad was James, the famous boxer, so then the officer wanted James’s autograph and didn’t give James a ticket. Phyllis bought the girls uniforms and had her own plain khaki uniform transformed into a cocktail frock to be more stylish. On their first overnight campout in the outdoors, it rained and Phyllis’s clothes were ruined with mud. Beverly Hills Troop leader Phyllis took the girls to a more suitable place to spend the night without the dirt and bugs, which happened to be a Beverly Hills Hotel room with room service and Peewee Herman on TV. Velda Plendor, the leader of the Culver City Red Feathers troop, wasn’t happy about what Phyllis did, so she ordered Annie Herman to be Phyllis’s assistant leader in order to infiltrate the troop, win Phyllis’s trust, and find out everything they could about Phyllis. Velda decked Annie out with cameras, including one hidden inside a Wilderness Girls handbook. Because the girls were convinced they were weird and couldn’t do the things the other troops could, Phyllis decided that she would show her troop how to survive in the wilds of Beverly Hills instead of the woods. In order to get 36 patches in three weeks, Phyllis took her troop to the spa, the jewelry store for jewelry appraisal, gave them dance lessons, and had Officer Bill perform CPR on her on the floor for a class in front of the girls (with him spraying his mouth with breath freshener before doing so). The troop also helped out at the senior center for their community service patch, and Phyllis brought them to the courtroom to witness the support hearing for her divorce. Freddy’s attorney asked for an earlier court date than what the judge assigned because his client was considering remarriage. That was when Phyllis realized that Freddy wanted to marry Lisa, the woman who he went out often with and shared a condo. The last patch the Beverly Hills troop earned was concerning the American Indians and how they were responsible for the turquoise jewelry movement (Phyllis wore a chief’s tribal headdress). Phyllis announced that the girls would receive their patches at the patch ceremony out on a boat with their parents. Emily Coleman was upset about the $7.50 each girl had to bring for the patches because her dad was an unemployed actor, but another trooper, Tiffany Honigman, gave Emily the money to go (and said her family had money and Emily’s seemed to be the only family in the troop who were not crazy rich). Lily Marcigan, the daughter of dictator Bong-Bong who ruled a Southeast Asian country, was presented with the International Affairs patch because she taught the troop how to launder money and crash a revolution. When Hannah got her patches, Phyllis tried to kiss her daughter on the cheek as Freddy did too on the other side of their daughter, but then Hannah ducked so Phyllis and Freddy kissed. Lisa was mad and pulled Freddy back, but when she did so she ended up falling off the large boat into the water. Velda went to Frances Temple, the Wilderness Girls leader, and presented the images she got from Annie’s book camera that made it look like Phyllis was encouraging her troopers to participate in bribery and drunkenness (Phyllis put wine in ceremony stew) among other things. Velda suggested Troop Beverly Hills be disbanded and Phyllis tossed out on her butt, but Frances replied that they would keep Phyllis because the pictures proved she took an interest in the girls. Velda then instructed Annie to tell Phyllis that her apartment was being fumigated so Phyllis would agree to let Annie live with her, which she did. Because Chica Barnfell’s wealthy parents left on a last-minute trip to Monte Carlo on their daughter’s birthday, Rosa made Chica a birthday cake and they celebrated. Whichever troop sold more than a thousand boxes of cookies would attend the annual jamboree and compete to be next year’s poster troop. Annie decided that she didn’t want to do Velda’s dirty work anymore and threw her cameras in the trash. Phyllis told Velda that her troop earned a bunch of patches in record time, but Velda argued that those patches did not coincide with the Wilderness ways so she was revoking them. The girls were determined that they were still Wilderness Girls even though they gave up their patches, and they went door-to-door trying to sell 2,000 boxes of cookies in hopes of being able to attend the annual jamboree survival competition and be next year’s poster troop. The Red Feathers were one step ahead of them selling cookies, and Phyllis wanted to get the community involved and have the girls put on singing and dancing concert and other events (fashion show) instead of having the rich parents buy the cookies. Troop Beverly Hills sold almost 5,000 boxes, and they attended the gala at the Barnfells’ that night. It turned out Tessa asked her dad the movie director to feature Emily’s dad in his next movie so he could have an acting job, and Tessa’s dad agreed. Freddy told Phyllis that he wasn’t seeing Lisa anymore after he set Lisa off by saying that she was too young to understand that Phyllis would always be his wife. Freddy explained that he wanted joint custody of Hannah (the whole divorce upset his daughter and she just wanted her parents to get back together again), and Phyllis was upset and threw her drink on Freddy. When Phyllis stormed off, she ended up falling into the pool. Velda spotted Annie wearing one of Phyllis’s eccentric outfits and called Annie a slut (not the first time Velda or Phyllis had trashy mouths and swore during movie). Velda then got in Phyllis’s head by telling her that she was putting the girls in danger to save her “own pride.” Phyllis told the troop girls that she was quitting, but they and Freddy convinced her not to because she helped them get to where they were. For the first half of the jamboree, Phyllis’s troop made it to the campsite before the Red Feathers and won the first because they were running from a skunk. Velda was mad and made the skunk into a hat, and for the second half she cut down the rope bridge down after her troop went across. Phyllis slowly walked across a log over a very high ravine to get to the other side where she could fix the bridge by having the girls throw a rock up to her. However, halfway across the log, Phyllis tripped so Hannah (daughter not listening to her mom when her mom told her repeatedly not to get on the dangerous log) decided to go and help Phyllis and ended up getting her foot stuck on the log. Phyllis walked back to help Hannah and they made it to the other side (balancing and holding hands). Velda and the Red Feathers spied on the Beverly Hills troops and saw what happened. However, not long after Velda fell in a ditch and broke her ankle. Cleo, Velda’s mean daughter took charge then, of the rest of the young girls in the Red Feather troop and left Velda with food and water and continued on their way saying they would send someone for Velda when they won. Velda called them bit**es and tried to bribe them with patches, but they left her anyway. When the Beverly Hills troop found Velda when they heard Velda’s ranting, the B.H. troop girls wanted to leave her where she was but Phyllis reminded them that they took a pledge to help people so they tied their backpacks together and made a travois to carry Velda. The Red Feathers made it to the finish line first, and Cleo tried to take the trophy but Frances told her that in order to win they needed their entire troop, leader mom included, to finish. Cleo grabbed the trophy and ran off with it, and then it was announced that the Red Feathers were disqualified and Troop Beverly Hills was the winner because they were second across the finish line carrying injured Velda from the mean girl troop. Velda said she was the only true Wilderness Girl, and when Frances fired Velda, Velda threw a hissy fit and said she would secede from the national organization and form her own organization called “Plendor’s Pioneers” or “Velda’s Avengers.” Freddy came over and asked to kiss the troop leader, and he apologized to Phyllis and they said they loved each other and wanted to stay together. USA Today was quoted on the movie cover art as saying, “Shelley Long gives an exuberant performance…”

TITLE: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’ Hoole (based on the book series by Kathryn Lasky)

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2010 Warner Bros. Pictures / Village Roadshow Pictures / Roadshow Entertainment / Animal Logic Production / GOG Productions

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This cartoon movie began in the Tyto Forest, where barn owlet Soren and his older brother Kludd practiced flying. They fell from their home tree onto the ground, and were carried away to St. Aegolius by two long-eared owl cousins named Jatt and Jutt, along with many other “Pure Ones,” carrying owlets they kidnapped. (The Pure Ones are the supposedly bad ones.) The owlets were told that their parents “abandoned,” them and the Pure Ones were their new family, and now they would work as either pickers (trained to pick metal flecks out of pellets to be used in a weapon of mass destruction) or soldiers serving the Pure Ones. The Tyto owlets chosen to be soldiers would be superior to the pickers and help the Pure Ones defeat and rule the other owl kingdoms and enslave other owls in the process. Only the strongest fliers and fighters would be presented to the Lord High Tyto king of the Pure Ones, Metal Beak. The terrifying Metal Beak wore a metal mask to hide the scars from a long-ago battle with Ezylrub/Lyze of Kiel, the leader of the Guardians of Ga’ Hoole, a group of warrior owls who lived at the Great Tree on the Sea of Hoolemere. Soren and an elf owlet from the Keneer desert named Gylfie spoke out against Nyra, the queen of the Pure Ones, so she assigned them to be pickers. Because Kludd said nothing, Nyra made him a soldier. A boreal owl named Grimble decided that he would help teach Soren and Gylfie to fly so they could escape and seek the Guardians’ help because he hated the evil Pure Ones and was only doing their dirty work so they wouldn’t harm his family as they threatened to do. The pickers were forced to sleep under the moon and be “moon-blinked,” which turned them into walking zombies, but Soren and Gylfie made sure not to sleep so they were not brainwashed. Nyra learned that Grimble was disloyal and wanted to help the owlets, and Grimble fought Nyra off while Soren and Gylfie escaped (and mastered flying in the process). Queen Nyra killed Grimble, and she was pleased with Kludd’s loyalty in deciding that St. Aegolius was his home and he wasn’t going to leave with his brother. Kludd agreed to bring his younger sister, Eglantine, there to be enslaved, and he participated in moon-blinking her. Soren and Gylfie met burrowing owl Digger and his hollowmate, great gray owl Twilight. They had just caught Mrs. Plithiver, the snake who was Soren’s family’s nursemaid, and Digger and Twilight agreed to help get the owlets to the Tree. A prophetic echidna helped them on their way, and when they encountered icy conditions, Digger’s wings froze and he plummeted towards the ocean. When the others tried to go after him, the Guardians rescued Digger and brought everyone to the Great Tree. Soren explained to King Boron and Queen Barran of Ga’ Hoole that the Pure Ones existed, and the Guardians were skeptical but agreed to send great gray owl Allomere and his owls to find the owlets at St. Aegolius. Ezylryb was there and waited to tell Soren and the others that he was the famous Lyze of Kiel. Ezylryb had always been Soren’s hero, but when he finally met Ezylryb, the screech owl was a retired and battle-scarred soldier who wasn’t what Soren expected but was still brave and helped train Soren in the different trades that the Guardians called chaws. Allomere returned alone with two moon-blinked owlets (one being Eglantine) because the Guardians who went with him were killed, and Boron and the Guardians took up arms. Ezylryb told Soren to stay at the Tree with Mrs. P and take care of Eglantine. When Eglantine snapped out of her trance, she explained to Soren that Allomere didn’t rescue her because Kludd handed her over to him. Soren realized that Allomere was a traitor and it was a trap for the Guardians to lure them to the Pure Ones, so he and the remaining non-Guardian owls set off for St. Aegolius. It was there that the fleck machine was impairing the Guardians’ gizzards, so Soren got an idea and used fire to destroy the machine and rescue the Guardians. Metal Beak had promised Allomere he would be King of the Tree in exchange for helping the Pure Ones, but now Metal Beak ordered for Allomere to be killed by the bats because Metal Beak was the only king. While the Guardians fought the Pure Ones and their bat comrades, Kludd attacked Soren and Metal Beak and Nyra battled Ezylryb. Kludd told Soren that the Pure Ones were the only owls who ever believed in him, and Metal Beak taught him that the strong put the broken out of their misery and honor was just another word for weakness. Kludd ended up falling into the flames of the fiery forest below, and Soren came to Ezylryb’s rescue. Soren killed Metal Beak, and Nyra and the Pure Ones retreated. The Guardians brought the owlets to the Tree, where Soren’s parents, Noctus and Marella, were waiting. It was said that Kludd was never found and may not have died in the fire. TITLE: Henry Poole Is Here

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG (This movie is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2008 Overture Films/Lakeshore Entertainment/Camelot Pictures/Anchor Bay Entertainment/Starz Media

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began with realtor Meg Wyatt showing Henry Poole a $325,000 house in a California neighborhood. He said he would take it, and Meg offered to see if she could talk the owners down $25 or $30 thousand because she felt he was being robbed since the interior and exterior needed a lot of work. Henry insisted that he would pay what they wanted because the higher the price of the house the bigger Meg’s commission (even though the property was worth far less the house was purchased at a higher rate which in turn creates nightmare unaffordable neighborhoods and forces the middle class hard-working American families into homelessness or renting). Depressed Henry shut himself away in the dark house and moped around all day, and since he had no phone realtor Meg stopped by to make sure he was doing okay. She said she had the house re-stuccoed and painted, and Henry replied that she shouldn’t have done that because he wasn’t going to be there long and it was a lousy job anyway. Henry lived off Krispy Kreme donuts, pizza and alcohol. One day, Henry spotted his neighbor Esperanza Martinez (who brought Henry tamales earlier) in his backyard, and she called Catholic Father Vincent Salizar. She explained that there was a water stain on the wall from the stucco job that looked to her like the face of Christ, but Henry didn’t see anything. Father Salizar agreed that he did see a face, but he wouldn’t say it was a face of Christ. Esperenza begged Henry not to ignore it because it was a sign, but Henry told both of them to leave. Henry came across 6-year-old Millie Stupek from next door in the backyard looking at the water stain, and she dropped her tape recorder when she saw him and ran. Henry returned the recorder to Millie’s mother, Dawn, who said that sometimes Millie recorded people (and she might have recorded Henry at some point) and Dawn didn’t know why. Patience, a cashier at Super Bueno Market (the neighborhood market with Spanish writing on the signs and many Spanish-speaking people in the area), asked if Henry was throwing another party because he was buying his usual items of Krispy Kreme donuts, pizza, and bottles of wine. Patience said that didn’t seem like a healthy diet, and Henry said there were no parties and he was just going through a phase. Other neighbors were seen in Henry’s backyard looking at the water stain, and they left flowers and prayer candles by the wall. When Henry caught them, he told them to stop doing it and accused them of vandalizing his wall because there was a drop of red paint on it. Esperanza said it was not paint, but holy blood. Six weeks earlier was when Henry started feeling depressed, so he went to see Dr. Fancher for a physical and to do some tests. The doctor informed Henry that he was in good health and maybe needed to exercise some more. Patience said that she noticed Henry didn’t look like he was doing well and she wanted to know why he was sad, angry or both, but he refused to answer. Henry tried everything he could to get rid of the face (including hosing the wall and bleaching it), but it was still there no matter what. Esperanza wanted to bring her church to Henry’s backyard and test the blood on the wall to see if it was a miracle, and Henry told her he wasn’t going to let her and her crazy church friends into the backyard. Henry found a box that contained pictures of Esperanza and her boyfriend Leo who lived in henry’s house. Esperanza said Leo made her very happy but died shortly after they met, and she confirmed that she believed the stain was the answer to all her prayers. Henry agreed to let the church come to test the blood and see what it was, and Esperanza promised not to bother Henry again if it turned out to be nothing. Father Salizar agreed with Patience that something was wrong with Henry. Henry found Millie’s hiding place among the bricks between her house and Henry’s. Esperanza brought Henry to his childhood home, but he didn’t find what he was looking for and he said he learned there was nowhere to hide and he couldn’t go back to the past to fix his present. Later that night, Dawn discovered that Millie wasn’t in her bed, and she found the little girl standing in Henry’s backyard staring at the face with her hand on the wall. Millie spoke her first words in a year since her dad abandoned her mom and her, and Dawn explained to Henry that she had taken Millie to several shrinks who told her that she already knew that Millie was depressed. Henry told Dawn that it was just a random event that Millie spoke after touching the wall because “miracles,” like that didn’t happen in real life. Henry told Dawn that when his test results came back, Dr. Fancher informed him that he was going to die soon from a terminal, unnamed disease. The next day, Esperanza revealed to Henry that she was the one who told Millie that the wall could heal her suffering if she just had faith. Henry insisted that the wall had nothing to do with Millie speaking and accused Esperanza of trying so hard to get Henry to believe so she could feel better about herself as if her mission was fulfilled. Henry and Dawn later witnessed Patience praying and touching the wall, and she was happy that afterwards she could see without her glasses. Dawn invited Henry to her backyard to play, and they and Millie had fun throwing water balloons at each with Millie speaking many words. Henry asked Dawn to dinner the following day, and she happily accepted. Many people came to touch the wall and be healed, and because Henry hadn’t done so yet Esperanza said he would. Henry returned Patience’s glasses to her, and she said she hadn’t gone to the eye doctor yet because she didn’t want to spend $90 for him to tell her she had 20/20 vision and didn’t need glasses anymore. Patience quoted Noam Chomsky and said not everything needed an explanation, and sometimes things happened because people chose for them to like how Patience chose to believe. Henry treated Dawn to a candlelit pizza dinner in the backyard with plastic utensils, and he explained that most mornings he woke up and thought about how much time he had left, but when he got up that morning the first thing he thought of was Dawn and Millie. He said he enjoyed being with her, and then Dawn had to put Millie to bed because she couldn’t sleep and Esperanza the babysitter was asleep on the couch. When Dawn got back, Henry said they should call it a night because them being together wasn’t right since he was going to die. Dawn said she knew that but they needed to live in the moment, and later that night Henry almost touched the wall but didn’t and broke down in tears. The next morning, Dawn went to get Henry because Millie refused to look at or talk to her, so they took Millie to the doctor but got no answer. Henry then discovered that there were dozens of people gathered around the wall in his yard, and he went ballistic and screamed at them that the wall wasn’t going to save their lives. Henry took a pickax to it and destroyed it, and then that corner of the house crumbled on top of him and he ended up in the hospital with some scratches. Henry was shocked to hear that Dawn asked the doctors to test him and it turned out that he wasn’t going to die because he wasn’t sick now and never had been. Esperanza told Henry in the hospital room that living was his miracle and not to worry about the wall because it was there for as long as it needed to be to help people. Millie was also in the hospital room and was talking again. When Henry got home from the hospital, Dawn was waiting for him and told him that nothing that happened was a mistake, and the movie ended with Henry and Dawn kissing outside. This movie received the Heartland Truly Moving Picture Award and is Dove Family Edited, and Christianity Today was quoted on the movie cover art as saying “A film that Christian moviegoers will yearn to embrace.”

TITLE: White Chicks

BOX OFFICE RATED: PG-13 (This is not suitable for GOD’s children.)

PRODUCTION YEAR: 2004 Columbia Pictures / Revolution Studios / Wayans Bros. Production / Gone North Productions / Sony Pictures Releasing

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie began at a gas station in New York, where a group of men from the Crema Lita ice cream truck exchanged boxes of vanilla ice cream for a briefcase full of Benjamins from the cashiers. However, the cashiers revealed that they were FBI agents Kevin Copeland and Marcus Anthony Copeland II there to arrest the imposters. The white men ran, so the two black brothers went after them attacking the suspects with punches and kicks. However, the brothers then realized that those were the real ice cream guys because the boxes were in fact filled with ice cream and not drugs like they expected. The fake ice cream guys the drugs then arrived, and there was a shootout that ended with the bad guys escaping. Chief Elliott Gordon threatened to send Kevin and Marcus to Iraq because he didn’t approve of their renegade cop way. Marcus’s wife, Gina, grilled him about his disappearances and lack of interest in her the last week because and she was worried he was cheating on her, but he fell asleep and ignored her. The Chief informed his agents that wealthy heiresses Brittany and Tiffany Wilson (the Beverly Hills daughters of Andrew Wilson, CEO of Wilson Cruise Lines) might be the kidnapper’s next victims. Wilson gave the FBI permission to shadow his daughters, and this time they would have surveillance and be ready if the kidnapper struck. Kevin and Marcus convinced the Chief to let them pick up the girls from the airport and drop them off at the Hamptons in hopes they could get back in the Chief’s good graces. The kidnapper was suspected to be Ted Burton, a former business partner of Wilson who lost his fortune and did time in federal prison. He had been missing since his release and the dates coincided with the first kidnappings. The valley-girl-talking and half-shirt-wearing Wilson sisters explained they were there for Labor Day weekend in the Hamptons, which was the last weekend of the social season where only the hottest people would be. The Wilson girls hoped to make it onto the cover of Hamptons Magazine this year, and Brittany said she wished the plane the Vandergeld sisters, Heather and Megan, were traveling on crashed so they wouldn’t arrive since Heather was mad at Brittany for sleeping with her boyfriend (Brittany claimed she slept with everyone’s boyfriend). Brittany’s Pomeranian dog, Baby, sat in the passenger’s seat but Baby then climbed onto the dashboard. Kevin swerved and Baby went flying out the open window, but Kevin managed to grab the leash so Baby was hanging by the neck out the door and whimpering. Kevin was able to pull Baby into the car at the last moment as a semi came their way, and they ended up crashing in a ditch alongside the road. The girls screamed because they each had a tiny scratch on their faces, and they told Kevin they weren’t going to the Hamptons looking like that. Brittany went off about how she went to get her eyebrows done like J-Lo’s, but the Russian toad ruined them and made her look like Liza Minnelli. Brittany then had one of her famous bit** fits (B.F.) and said she was going to write a letter to get revenge on Kevin, but he convinced her otherwise. Brittany and Tiffany screamed that their lives were over because their faces might be scarred. Kevin then got an idea after talking to the Chief, and he called in a team of specialists to transform the man into trans men that looked like the Wilson sisters so they could take their place at the Hamptons (Kevin as Brittany, Marcus as Tiffany). Kevin and Marcus were given wigs, Hollywood masks, fake breasts, and white-colored plaster to put over their black skin. As trans-Brittany and trans-Tiffany walked into the Hamptons hotel, two men whistled at them and Marcus went off on them screaming at them in his man voice. Two more men made a comment about trans-Brittany, and he did the same thing. FBI agent Jake Harper greeted the trans men, so the undercover FBI rogue black brothers posing as white women used their transgender female voices so their fellow colleague wouldn’t recognize them. Trans-Brittany threw a B.F. when Harper asked for ID because trans-Brittany only had ID for Kevin. He said he wanted a nose job to look like Gwyneth Paltrow, but he ended up looking like freaking Shriek and planned to write a letter to the hotel manager. Trans-Brittany began the letter by saying he was a white woman in America when he was actually a black man, but both he and trans-Tiffany changed their tune when the FBI Chief came along and told Harper the Wilsons were VIP guests and to give them their keys. Trans-Brittany told the Chief he looked like Denzel Washington, and the Chief replied he heard that a lot. Three other rich girls (Karen Googlestein, Lisa Anderson, and Tori Wilson, the Wilson publicist) came over to greet the Wilson trans sisters and the other females told the fakes they looked different and were taller but they didn’t think much of it. The girls dragged the trans men to the Hampton Magazine reception, where Heather and Megan sauntered over. The Vandergeld sisters and trans-Wilson sisters exchanged awful hating-on-the-mother comments, such as trans-Tiffany saying the Vandergeld’s mother was so old her breast milk was powdered and her a** was so hairy it looked like Don King was about to pop out and say “Only in America!” The Vandergelds stormed off, and then trans-Brittany decided to go over and introduce himself to reporter Denise Porter from NY1 News. Meanwhile, trans-Tiffany stuffed his face with food and the girls told him to slow down on the cheese. That was when trans-Tiffany realized it was dairy and he was lactose-intolerant, and the girls insisted on going to the ladies’ bathroom with him where he farted obnoxiously and uncontrollably and the girls rushed off. Trans-Tiffany caught pro athlete Latrell Spencer’s eye, and he said trans-Tiffany was a “white girl with a black girl’s a**.” Latrell told him that “Once you go black, you’re going to need a wheelchair,” as a woman went by in a wheelchair greeting them. Trans-Tiffany said he wasn’t interested and told Latrell to jump off the top of the Empire State Building, and when Latrell tried to chase after him trans-Tiffany pepper-sprayed Latrell in the eyes. Heather and Megan’s father, Warren Vandergeld, reminded everyone that night was the Vandergeld Foundation’s annual charity auction. Because the trans men didn’t know what they were going to wear to the Vandergeld Foundation’s annual charity auction that night, their three girlfriends took them shopping. In the car, they flipped through radio stations and landed on a rap song where the trans men said “nigga,” like it was no big deal. Karen was shocked, but after Brittany said it didn’t matter because nobody was around, everyone sang the word about five times in one sentence. At the department store, Tori told the shop employee she needed an outfit for her friend trans-Tiffany that said, “I’m not a whore but I’m not a virgin either.” Trans-Tiffany had trouble squeezing into a tight-fitting shirt, so a female employee came into the dressing room (with what looked like trans-Tiffany’s bare breasts exposed but they were actually fake attachments) to help him. Gina called trans-Tiffany and he tried to talk to her at the same time, but she was confused and thought he was with another woman when she heard the voice of the female employee and Marcus’s moaning noises. Trans-Tiffany then had a very hard time squeezing into a pair of pants, and he was shown in his underwear in an odd position trying to do so in the women’s dressing room. Karen barged in and slammed trans-Tiffany against the wall to help him get the pants on telling him to suck it in and to never get a bigger size even though the pants didn’t fit. Trans-Tiffany told Karen he wasn’t going to squeeze his foot into size 10 shoes when he wore a 14 just because it looked better fashion-wise. When he came out of the dressing room to show the females his outfit, the clothes ripped at the seams, the high heels broke, and the pants button popped and broke the glass mirror.Meanwhile, trans-Brittany was in another dressing room with Lisa and watched Lisa change into an outfit and he had male sexual feelings for her while pretending to be a female. He complimented Lisa on how sexy she looked, and so Lisa had a meltdown hissy-fit about how fat she was (when she really wasn’t). Trans-Brittany left the room to find Lisa another outfit, but she didn’t like any of them. Trans-Brittany ran to get some professional help for Lisa from either Oprah or Dr. Phil. Harper and fellow FBI agent Vincent Gomez were in a car waiting for the group to leave the store. The agents discussed if they would rather be with Janet Leno or Rosie O’Donnell if the world was ending, and when Harper picked Rosie, Gomez called him a pig. Gomez wouldn’t answer the question himself when the “girls,” came out. A mugger then stole trans-Brittany’s purse, and because his gun and badge were inside the purse he ran after the robber. Trans-Tiffany got in the red sports convertible with the females and sped after the criminal, and after trans-Brittany chased him down and tackled him as the sports car cut the thief off, trans-Brittany told the mugger that it wasn’t just a bag…it was Prada. They left the bad guy in the street as the other FBI agents watched and were thinking that trans-Brittany girl was a track star. At the auction, Karen spotted Heather’s boyfriend, Heath, who she liked and asked trans-Tiffany to give her a pat so trans-Tiffany put powder makeup all over Karen’s nose. Heath couldn’t stop staring for the entire brief conversation with Karen until Heather came over and dragged him away calling Karen a coke whore and telling her to clean it up. Heather was first to be auctioned off for charity, and Heath set a new record by bidding $20,000 on his girlfriend. Heather then announced that trans-Tiffany was next, and Latrell bid $50,000 on her. Trans-Tiffany didn’t want to do on a date with the big black Buff Daddy, and Heather had a fit because someone bid higher on a trans-Tiffany than her. Karen and the other girls knocked on the Wilson’s hotel room door to have a slumber party, and Kevin and Marcus rushed around trying to put on their trans outfits and plaster and shouted to the girls to wait because they were busy shaving their feet and braiding their vaginas. Trans-Tiffany braided Karen’s hair while she talked about how she wished that men would be more sensitive to women’s needs. Karen loved her new do and said trans-Tiffany must have been black in a previous life. Meanwhile, Agent Gomez asked Agent Harper if he would rather be with Carmen Electra or Pam Anderson if they both had a yeast infection. Harper replied Pam, and Gomez told him he was disgusting because they had yeast infections and he wouldn’t want to be with either of them. Agents Harper and Gomez then saw on the camera footage two men at the hotel room door. Trans-Brittany opened the door, and two men grabbed him and tried to restrain him. Trans-Brittany knocked the guys out, and then the girls hurriedly explained that those were Raoul and Tito, the strippers they ordered to their room. Harper and Gomez came to the room posing as hotel security, and trans-Brittany told them he just had PMS and to get him some Midol, and the agents used their walkie-talkies to give the all clear. Everyone then went to the beach, where Kevin changed his clothes into his suit. He paid two kids $5 to walk up to him while he was at the bar standing next to reporter Deniseand call him Latrell asking for his autograph. Denise believed Kevin was Latrell, and later that night the real Latrell took trans-Tiffany to a fancy Italian restaurant. Trans-Tiffany encountered Kevin outside posing as a valet, and Kevin explained he was going to “borrow,” Latrell’s car and use it for his date with Denise and then bring it back later. At the table while Latrell was talking, trans-Tiffany put his foot up on the table and used his teeth to tear a hangnail off his toe. He then spit the hangnail out into someone’s drink, and when the food arrived trans-Tiffany ate it all like a pig and Latrell was disgusted. Trans-Tiffany called Latrell out on his playing faults and laziness, but instead of deterring Latrell it turned him on and he was about to kiss trans-Tiffany but he farted and Latrell thought it was a game so he started farting too. Kevin brought Denise to Latrell’s house claiming it was his, and the maid who Kevin called Mei Ling was speaking in a foreign language trying to tell him to leave but he threw her out the door. A vicious snarling Rottweiler than appeared, and before Kevin saw it he said he didn’t have a dog. He quickly corrected himself that the dog was family and was just in a playful mood when he bit and tore Kevin’s clothes. The Rottweiler dragged Kevin across the floor, and then he was able to lock the dog a room. Denise told a story about how she did some investigative journalism to find J-Lo and Ben’s hideaway, and she ended up jumping over a fence and scraping her knee, being chased by the cops and spending the night in jail. Kevin and Denise were kissing passionately when trans-Brittany called Kevin to tell him that he and Latrell were about to leave and Kevin needed to get to the restaurant with Latrell’s car. Meanwhile, FBI Gomez and Harper searched the Wilson hotel room because they felt something wasn’t right about the girls. As FBI Harper was sniffing the underwear that he thought belonged to a chick, Gomez showed him the Hollywood masks that the trans men wore. Harper suddenly realized that it was men’s underwear he was sniffing, and he quickly dropped it as Gomez said Harper really was disgusting. Everyone went to the club, with Kevin now as trans-Brittany. Latrell got some illegal pills from Heath’s buddy Russ at the bar. Russ told Latrell to put them in trans-Tiffany’s drink because it worked and Russ would guarantee sex that night. Trans-Tiffany (wearing a cross necklace) noticed the fizziness in his drink, so he distracted Latrell by saying he saw Britney Spears and switched the drinks so Latrell had the drugged drink that he guzzled. Trans-Brittany told trans-Tiffany what he learned from Denise that didn’t get reported in the paper about Ted Burton. He turned the tables on Warren Vandergeld and tucked away $100 million in an offshore bank account and had been living the high life since he got out of prison. Karen and Lisa started dirty dancing with each other to get Heath’s attention, and that got sisters Heather and Megan dancing dirty with each on the bar counter. That turned into a showdown on the dance floor with groupies on either side showing a lot of skin, and as Karen and the others were losing, until the trans men took the floor. They called the Vandergelds hookers and showed them how it was done, and the crowd went wild for their break-dancing. Karen rushed to the bathroom, and the trans men held her hair as she cried and threw up saying she paid thousands of dollars on her outfit but Heath didn’t even notice. Karen then revealed that the Vandergelds were broke and Karen’s father had to loan Heather’s father money so they could keep their house, and they just paid the Googlesteins back. Trans-Tiffany had given Russ his dog Baby to watch, and when trans-Tiffany returned to the table he called Russ a sicko because druggie Russ was trying to make out with the dog. They spotted Latrell on the dancefloor shirtless and blowing a whistle, and the next morning Latrell and Russ woke up in bed together with Baby. The real Brittany and Tiffany were excited to discover they were in the New York Post with the caption “Wilson sisters rock Hamptons.” They then realized that they weren’t in the Hamptons and had been cloned. Gina went to hunt Marcus down after she got a bill from their bank showing he spent $4,000 on a dress. She showed up at the hotel room door, and Marcus told trans-Brittany to hide the stuff. He answered the door to Gina, and she asked him if he was wearing lipstick and a bra under his bathrobe. He said he was on assignment and the bra was a new government-issue holster for two guns. Gina searched the room and couldn’t find anyone hiding out, and Marcus distracted her so trans-Tiffany could sneak out of the room by saying Gina lack of trust needed to stop because it was causing them marital issues However, Gina’s girlfriend was out in the hallway and yelled when trans-Brittany tried to go out the door, and that made Gina mad. As she was storming out with her girlfriend, she called Marcus sick because he told her trans-Brittany was a man. The real Brittany and Tiffany went to the Hamptons, and upon arrival the FBI apprehended the women. The FBI just got confirmation that Burton arrived in the area so Chief wanted him trailed. In front of the Chief and other agents, Harper tried to pull Tiffany’s wig off, but it was real hair and she screamed. Gomez then pulled the front of Brittany’s shirt down to expose her breasts, which were also real, and Gomez commented they were nice. The agents couldn’t explain that. Agent Harper then pulled Tiffany’s pants down to reveal to everybody that she had female parts and no male parts, so Tiffany decked him. The Chief figured it out and went to the hotel, where he told Kevin and Marcus that he had to suspend Harper and Gomez, his best agents. The Chief fired the brothers on the spot, and after he left Kevin wanted the both of them to figure things out and apprehend the real suspect because they told the Chief that Burton wasn’t the kidnapper. Marcus said that he lost his wife and job because of Kevin and there was no more “we.” Warren Vandergeld told his minion Heath that the FBI bought it and were packing up, so Heath could make the grab that night. Kevin got a call in the car from Josh and told Marcus that it turned out Vandergeld’s fingerprints were all over the ransom note and Burton was in fact not the kidnapper. Kevin wanted to call the FBI Chief, but Marcus told him not to and said them having each other was all the backup they needed. Heather and Megan couldn’t believe that they got voted out of the fashion show that night and the Wilson sisters got voted in, so they wanted to know who they had to sleep with for them to get in the show but they were ignored. Heath asked Karen if she wanted to go out with him, and she replied no and said she was tired of being his doormat and to him she was just a booty call. Heath confirmed that, and then trans-Tiffany punched Heath in the face. Trans-Tiffany touched Karen’s face and spoke to her in a romantic way, and Karen asked trans-Tiffany if he was a lesbian and he ran off. Both the trans men were in the fashion show with the real Brittany and Tiffany also modeling, and then there was a disaster onstage (thanks to Heather and Megan) with the models running into each other and falling on the stage. Karen and her girlfriends pulled a lever so the balcony above the railing fell and the Vandergeld sisters went tumbling over the railing onto the stage. Buckets of red paint fell on Heather and Megan’s heads and also splattered everybody else, who thought it was bold and brilliant and applauded. A Chinese dragon decoration was then brought out with the lights flickering as a distraction to get the real Wilson girls off the stage to be kidnapped. The trans Brittany and Tiffany fought Russ and Heath, and Gina’s girlfriend called their friends NayNay and LaQuanda for backup telling them to bring Vaseline and razors. Harper and Gomez showed up to take down Heath and Russ because Kevin and Marcus called them. The trans men revealed that the Vandergelds were broke, and Heather and Megan didn’t know that and asked their dad if he was Martha Stewart broke of MC Hammer broke. He replied MC Hammer broke and revealed that he had been funneling money out of the charity into a private account to get them by. Denise and her cameraman were filming the scene, so Warren shot at Denise but trans-Brittany pushed her out of the way. He then shot Warren in the shoulder after Warren shot Latrell in the shoulder because he jumped in front of trans-Tiffany to save him since nobody messed with his queen. Trans-Tiffany took his white mask off and exposed his black face, and Latrell was upset and felt betrayed to discover that Marcus wasn’t white since he knew all along that trans-Tiffany was male. Black Latrell called black Marcus a negro and told the people around him to get the jigaboo away from him because it was an all-white party. Gina and her girlfriend then jumped on trans-Brittany and got the mask off to reveal he was Kevin, and Gina’s girlfriend said that was some Jerry Springer sh**. The Chief told Kevin and Marcus that they caused over $250,000 worth of damage, two people were shot, but at least they got the right guy. They thanked the Chief and said they couldn’t have made it happen without Harper and Gomez. The movie ended with Agent Kevin going to see news anchor Denise and with Agent Harper asking Agent Gomez whose panties he thought Harper was sniffing, Kevin or Marcus’s. Gomez wouldn’t reply and Harper argued he was looking for DNA, and when the Chief started laughing Harper called him Denzel and did an imitation of trans-Brittany saying that to the Chief. The Chief stopped laughing and reminded the agents they had work to do. FBI Agent Kevin introduced himself to Denise with his real name and told her he made $30,000 a year after taxes, he didn’t drive a Bentley, and he didn’t live in a house on a hill but he wanted to go out with her. She replied that any man who would jump in front of a bullet for her could take her on a date. Marcus told Gina that he lied to her but he had never cheated on her, and he was guilty of neglecting her and not noticing that she got her hair done for him and wore the sweet-smelling Chanel cologne so his crime was not telling Gina he loved her every day. Gina’s girlfriend wasn’t buying it, but Gina told her to shut up and forgave Marcus. The movie ended with the three girls telling the two guys they liked Brittany and Tiffany better when the boys dressed up like them. The FBI agents said they would all get together and it wouldn’t be the end for them because they would go “shopping!” This movie had a budget of $37 million and grossed over $113 million at the box office. Shawn Edwards from FOX-TV was listed on the movie covert art as stating “Four stars! White Chicks is the funniest comedy of the year!”

REASON: This movie took place in Atlanta, Georgia, and began with Hollerin’ Helen on WJLM greeting Hotlanta, home of the Hawks, the Atlanta stomp, and the fine-a** Michael Vick who she invited to come touch down on her backside if he was in the area. Before Gina Norris dropped her young daughter Vanessa off at her performing arts music school, Gina was happy when Vanessa said Gina’s attire made her butt look big because that was what Gina was going for. Gina told Vanessa not to wear a pimp hat to school just because Alicia Keys wore one. Gina worked at a hair salon owned by the foreign-accented and eccentric Jorge (that he pronounced hor-hay) Christophe. He reminded Gina that what she did reflected him and she needed to remember his moniker was on the building. She got all huffy because she thought Jorge said “ma-nigga,” instead of moniker and she told him to pronounce the word better. The next day at work, Gina let her friend Lynn, the shampooing girl who didn’t have her own chair yet, take care of one of Gina’s clients. Jorge told Gina to get with the program and give him proper respect and not to give the other employees “shots,” because they worked for Jorge, not Gina. Jorge (hor-hay) went on to say he owned Gina and without him she would be in Chicago washing hair in her mama’s kitchen. He reminded Gina that what he giveth he could taketh away, and Gina announced that she would giveth it back and quit. She stormed out of the salon screaming at Jorge that the way he treated her was because she was black. Gina decided that she wanted to own a beauty shop, so she went to get a loan but Mrs. Struggs turned her down. Gina noticed that Mrs. Struggs was eyeing the bank manager, so when she went to the bathroom Gina came back and did her hair. Mrs. Struggs was very happy with her new hairdo and told Gina she was now approved for her loan. Since the loan was only $30,000 instead of $150,000 like Gina hoped for, Gina was forced to purchase a run-down, beauty shop. Gina, Vanessa, Gina’s mother in law, Paulette, and Paulette’s daughter Darnelle all worked on cleaning up and remodeling the shop. Joe the electrician came to fix the hole in the ceiling that had wires coming out of it, but Gina refused to let him fix it since she needed a total upgrade would cost $4,000 to $6,000. Joe revealed that he was the one playing the loud piano music from upstairs that Gina couldn’t stand, and then young Vanessa walked over to Joe and asked Joe if she could come play piano with him in his apartment sometime. Gina called her girlfriends and fellow hairstylists over to inspect the place and they weren’t too impressed even though Gina was hoping that Oprah might stop in and said she wanted to be the best like Oprah and make some changes. When white female Lynn arrived, Gina said she was talented but the other black women weren’t happy and said hell no. Porsche and Mercedes said Gina was trying to whiten up the place instead of brighten it, so they walked out because they didn’t want to work alongside white people. The other three black stylists stayed, and Gina’s first customers loved their new dos. A young boy named Willie came along selling candy bars and talked about women’s body parts, and Gina kicked him out and told him not to come back until he learned how to talk right about a lady after he commented on her body. Gina played the WJLM station in the beauty shop, and Helen was heard saying a white woman would get rid of a man she didn’t want any more by going to the police station and getting a restraining order against him, which would just tick him off and have him waiting in the bushes with a butcher knife ready to kill that bit**. Whereas, a black woman would just lie and say she was pregnant, which was what Helen did once and she hadn’t seen the man she told that to in ten years. Helen gave everyone her web address www.how-to-shake-a-nigga.com, and Gina told everyone there would be no calling anyone the “N,” word in her shop, and no calling people bit**es or hos except for the ones who didn’t leave a tip. They talked about sex all the time in the beauty parlor and how the girls didn’t want to see men cry unless he was their son in diapers, and Lynn compared the man crying in bed after sex to Denzel Washington in Glory. As usual, whenever white girl Lynn said something the black girls went silent and returned to whatever they were doing. Mindy, a stylist at Jorge’s, ruined Terri’s hair and made it stick out like a scarecrow’s so she went to see Gina to get it fixed. Gina and the girls commented on how one of the female customers was showing too much butt with her tight shorty-shorts, and when the men came in they took pictures of her butt until Gina kicked them out. Jorge called Terri to tell her that Mindy had been fire, and Terri said it was okay because she was at Gina’s salon. That made Jorge mad and Terri hung up on him. Lynn told Gina that she didn’t feel like she fit in at the salon because she was white, and the only client Lynn had since she started working there was the one Gina gave to her. Lynn thought she should quit, but Gina told her she was fine. Inspector Crawford from the State Board cited Gina $500 for the discarded equipment stacked up out in the alley. Crawford informed Gina that the next citation would be for $1,000 and he would shut her down if she got a third. James arrived seconds later to pick up the junk, and he caught the stylists’ eye and Gina hired him because he was an expert at braiding hair. Gina then got a call from Darnelle and went to bail her out of jail since she got arrested for riding around on her new boyfriend’s motorcycle which turned out to be stolen. Gina made Darnelle work in her shop to pay Gina back. Gangster acting lil’ Willie asked Vanessa if she wanted to be in his music video and shake a little something, and she replied no and said she was listening to Bach, the classical composer. She called it art, and Willie said he had his art which was following women around videoing their butts. The females noticed James carrying something around and thought it was a purse, but he corrected them it was a man bag and was the hottest new accessory in men’s fashion, and the women got a kick out of that. Lynn expressed her not-fitting-in concerns to Darnelle, and she replied that it was all about the visual presentation so she did Lynn’s hair and she was happy with the result. Gina messed around with the lights trying to fix them and the lights ended up going out. Willie told Gina that the inspector was headed their way, so Gina sent Willie to distract Crawford and try to sell candy while she went next door to get Joe’s help. He fixed the lights and told Gina the generator was not going to hold and she needed to get the place fixed up, and he would help her for free right now and she could pay him later. Questionable Inspector Crawford told Gina there was a new state regulation that mandated all hairdryers needed to have their own wall plug, so he gave Gina a second citation for $1,000 (knowing Gina was low on money). Gina was barely keeping up with her current payments, so she couldn’t ask for an increase on her bank loan (which her enemies knew). Darnelle, who left the shop shortly after arriving, now appeared and told Gina that she had to go see her boyfriend Glen who had a record label and wanted her to be on his next album. She handed Gina a large wad of cash that Glen gave her to pay for the bail, but Gina refused to take it because she was worried about what Darnelle did with Glen to get the money. Gina walked away telling Darnelle to use the cash to buy a clue. Jorge drove by the shop calling Gina a bit** because he lost all of his best customers to her, including Joanne Marcus who Terri brought over. Joanne flaunted her new implants that cost $8,000 a breast, and Chanel said that both white and black girls got the plastic surgery, but the black ones didn’t get all crazy like the white girls so she called Joanne a Botox Barbie. All of a sudden it wasn’t okay for a man to disrespect a woman, but it was okay for lil’ Willie to disrespect females. Darnelle went outside to get an expensive gift (heart necklace) from her next new boyfriend, and he wanted her to blow off work for the rest of the day but when she said no, he clicked into a crazy man and tried to pull her into the car. Gina brought her curling iron out and threatened to burn him if he did that again, and then James laid the guy out on the ground with young Willie videoing him. Willie told the man that was what he got when he disrespected women (when Willie himself was doing that all the time). Jorge showed up, and Willie videoed him telling Gina that he was just there to see the shop and tell her he was sorry for the angry words he told her earlier and wished no ill will on her, her shop, or her peeps. He told Gina there would be always be an open chair for her at his shop, and when Joanne then came in Jorge told her that her twin breasts weren’t identical. Gina told Joanne that Jorge only came over to hate, and Joanne said she was able to get Gina’s fabulous homemade conditioner to the head of marketing for CoverGirl’s line of boutique products and they wanted to meet with Gina and fly her to New York. Gina and all the stylists planned to go out that night and celebrate, and Vanessa, who had been taking piano lessons at Joe’s apartment, went and invited him to join the women but he wasn’t sure they wanted him there. Joe decided to go anyway and asked Gina to dance, and black James asked white Lynn to dance. One of the black women couldn’t believe that he asked the white girl to dance instead of the pretty black girls, and Chanel said it didn’t matter because James was gayer than Peter Pan on a pair of ice skates (after he commented on Jorge’s nice shoes earlier). Lynn and James did some sexual dance moves and then they enthusiastically kissed, and the black females realized he might be gay in the happy way. Darnelle told the DJ to change the song to some Chicago music Gina would like, and she and Joe danced to it and then went home to Joe’s apartment where they started kissing. The next day, Willie got on video Jorge passing an envelope to Inspector Crawford and paying him off to harass Gina. White Joanne and white Lynn got into an argument because Lynn didn’t like Joanne grabbing black James’s butt as he walked by since he was Lynn’s boyfriend now. Joanne asked Lynn if she was afraid James was going to get tired of her wannabe-black girl routine and fall for something real like Joanne. Chanel joined in on the argument against Joanne, and Joanne wanted Gina to fire Chanel but Gina refused so Joanne told Gina to forget about her CoverGirl meeting and forget about Joanne as a client. Later that night, Joe went to Gina’s door to tell her that the police were on scene at her beauty shop because someone broke in and wrecked everything and spray-painted “bit**” on the wall. Gina told Joe she wasn’t sure if she could get through this one and walked away after seeing the damage. Vanessa had her piano recital and added a little jazziness to the song because Joe taught her to play from her heart, and she did just that and everyone loved it. When Gina went back to the shop, she discovered that everybody did repairs and even got a new frame for Gina’s beloved idol picture of Madame C.J. Walker since the old one got broken. A black female came to the shop then and needed an emergency hair makeover for a wedding, and Gina gave her some of her homemade conditioner. Terri came in and showed off her new padded butt that she got because she was divorcing her husband who was cheating on her. Willie showed up and gave Gina the video footage he had of the criminal inspector Crawford and hair salon owner Jorge. Jorge spoke to his boyfriend Stacy on the phone when Gina showed up and handed him a copy of the “World’s Dumbest Criminals” video and told him he should be more careful who he bribed in public because he was caught on camera doing so. Gina added that she researched Jorge and knew he was George Christie of Austria, via Nebraska. Gina said Jorge didn’t break her because she was still standing, and her shop was still open because she was a phenomenal woman. Gina walked away laughing because then James with his two gangster buddies dressed in black came up behind Jorge (now speaking natural USA English) and held Jorge as James cut his long hair and GOD Only Knows what else. Hollerin’ Helen from her radio show then called Gina and revealed that she was the woman who came into the shop the other day with the hair emergency, and Helen put Gina on the radio and thanked Gina for her miracle makeover that she wore to her cousin Shondrella’s wedding. Helen said Gina saved her life and got her looking all Halle Berry-ish, and then she gave Gina a free ad on the radio by talking up her hair crack conditioner which she loved and told everyone to go to Gina’s to get their hair done. Hollerin’ Helen the radio star on air reaching thousands around the country then asked the Beauty Shop people what topic she should have for the day. Gina and her stylists suggested things such as legalizing marijuana, putting a black man on The Bachelor, people who named their kids names they would never live up to, athletes who went to jail and spent more time in the courtroom than on the court, interracial love, or having sex with a man who dumped you before breakfast came around. The movie cover art listed Los Angeles Times, “Highly entertaining!” Variety stated, “Funny and sassy!” and “Feel-good entertainment!” The New York Post had, “…excellent ensemble…warm, funny, empowering.” Also included was Premiere, “…will slap a smile on your face and keep it there!”

RATING [1 LEAST FAVORITE TO 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]: 1

REASON: This movie was near Canada in Michigan and it started with 10-year-old Amanda Hart bringing home a stray dog that she called Max because she wanted a dog of her own. Grandpa napped instead of watching Amanda, and when Amanda’s attorney dad, Peter, came home, she tried to convince him to let her keep Max. However, Peter discovered a poster on the floor and knew that Amanda attempted to deceive him because Max’s real name was Bernie and he was a missing dog. They returned Bernie to his owners, and Peter told Amanda she wasn’t responsible enough to have a dog (Aunt Kathy’s words exactly) and could have one when she was much, much older. Amanda’s mom died from cancer two years before, and she used to be a dog trainer and her first show dog was named Max, which was why Amanda wanted the same name for her dog. Amanda then interrupted Peter talking on the phone to Judge Wilfred B. Weatherbee and she asked her dad if she and her best friend Maggie Cavanaugh could walk to the animal shelter where Kathy Jones worked, and distracted Peter agreed. The neighbor Mrs. Crabtree was next door feeding her adorable, fuzzy rabbits with an animal growling from the bushes. Two dopey Russian brothers named Boris and Dimitri were in the neighborhood searching for a baby fox, and they lied to Mrs. Crabtree that they were from animal control and were there to protect her bunnies from the vicious creature roaming the area. Boris wanted to keep one of the bunnies named Mr. Lincoln, but Dimitri told him to give it back. Peter surprised Amanda with a pet turtle, and she didn’t tell him how disappointed she was and named the turtle Max. Amanda then discovered there was a fox kit in the bushes in the backyard, and she also named him Max and fed him a chicken breast. Peter was certain that he had bought two chicken breasts, and Amanda said her dad must have been getting old and forgetful (gaslighting him). He said there were some news he had been putting off telling Amanda until he was sure, and now Peter was sure that he wanted to marry Erica King, a fellow attorney at work who he had known for a long time and fell in love with. Amanda was upset and ran out of the room crying, and Peter left late that night for Chicago on a work trip and asked his girlfriend Erica that he kept secret all that time to watch Amanda. Amanda had dreams about her mom asking her if she found Max yet. The next morning, Amanda discovered that Max was sick, so she and Maggie took Max to (Aunt) Kathy and she fixed him up. Kathy told Amanda to tell her dad and Erica about Max the fox as soon as possible and not to keep something like that a secret from them again, and Amanda promised. Amanda and Maggie played with Max the fox at Mrs. Crabtree’s house, and while she was sleeping Max got into the house and grabbed her wig. Amanda left the wig for Mrs. Crabtree to find and snuck out of the house with Max. Amanda decided that the secret was between her, Maggie and Kathy and she wouldn’t tell Erica. Erica told Amanda that she loved Peter and wanted to be friends with Amanda, and that was when Amanda learned that Erica was very allergic to pets because she started sneezing since Max was hidden in the room. Erica played a game with Amanda that she learned from her military soldier aunt when they first met. Erica revealed that she got very nervous as the lead attorney in the courtroom and stuttered whenever she was asked a question, and Amanda talked about her mom’s dog Max. Amanda then decided to tell Erica about the other Max (fox), and Erica immediately called Peter and he came home to lecture Amanda that they would have to get rid of fox Max because he was a wild animal and because of Erica’s allergies. Kathy was there and confirmed that she did know about Max and thought Amanda was going to tell her dad about him, and when they went outside to get Max out of his crate he was gone and the crate door was open. The Russians drove by and announced that they were still looking for the dangerous fox, and Kathy and Erica knew the fox wasn’t dangerous and caught on that the Russian men were fakes. Later that night, Peter told Amanda that sometimes you did good things for other people even though you didn’t want to do them, such as Peter going to Chicago for a pro-bono job which he didn’t want to do but was good for his client (and Peter hoped to be a judge). Peter said they would give Max to someone who would agree to let Amanda visit Max, and Amanda agreed. Two police officers arrested the Russians for trespassing, and the next morning Mrs. Crabtree discovered that her bunnies had been eaten. A coyote jumped out of the bushes in the backyard and tried to attack Mrs. Crabtree and Amanda. Max the fox (not Max the turtle) went after the coyote, and then the two officers appeared and tranquilized both of them. Max was sent to the animal shelter, and Peter said that if there were no court order by Monday then the shelter would put Max the fox down. Peter said he was returning to Chicago to finish up his case, and he wanted Erica to help Amanda with the fox Max’s case. The two females would try to convince the judge that Max the fox was not a danger to the community so he would be set free. Amanda and Erica bonded during their book research, and Amanda told her that she and her dad were lucky to have found Erica and she felt the same way. The witnesses (Kathy, Maggie, and local school community kids) confirmed that Max was in good health and was very tame and friendly, and Mr. Milkins (the county attorney) did his darndest to point out the fact that nobody owned Max and he should be put down. Mrs. Crabtree was the last witness and confirmed that she made 12 of the 14 complaints about the fox but said that she now knew the coyote attacked her bunnies and Max was innocent. Amanda, as the lead counsel, told Judge Weatherbee that it was legal to own foxes in their state, and Mr. Milkins replied that was the case but only under strict circumstances and in this case the fox was unpredictable and a menace because he was in the care of an irresponsible person. Before the judge made his decision, Amanda got an idea and ran out of the courtroom with Kathy. The judge said he was in favor of the county’s decision and was about to order for Max to be put down when Amanda returned from the county clerk’s office. Amanda gave the judge the license for a wild animal sanctuary called Max and Me, which they still had from when it was started by Amanda’s mom and her aunt Kathy, and because the license didn’t expire then they wanted to provide sanctuary for fox Max. Judge Weatherbee said that did change things and he wanted them to have a proper enclosure for the fox within a week. However, the recently detained Russians then barged into the courtroom and the judge listened to Dimitri’s testimony. He said he and his brother owned the fox and were going to sell Max to a hunting establishment, and the judge agreed there was nothing illegal about fox hunting in that state and it was a proud tradition. Attorney Peter Face-timed into the courtroom from Chicago as backup attorney on Erica’s laptop, and Peter questioned Dimitri about his Russian citizenship. Dimitri replied that they were neighbors from across the border and confirmed he was selling the fox, and then Peter asked if Dimitri and Boris had an International Animal’s Broker License. Since they didn’t have one that meant they couldn’t bring wild animals into the United States. Therefore, the fox was smuggled contraband and the Russians had to forfeit their ownership rights. Judge Wilfred Weatherbee decided that fox Max would be given to the Max and Me sanctuary. The movie ended with Amanda holding the fox Max for a few extra minutes before she and the others went to Peter and Erica’s wedding.
